Is there a permenant fix for this yet or a new .zip I can flash? I have the miniature issue, and LCD Density does fix it, but it doesn't stick everytime I restart. Anyone have a link to one that was the right size when you flashed it?
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App

I have spent a lot of time (mostly in vain) trying to get this to work at normal size without the use of a resolution app. I managed to modify some variables and get it to be normal size in portrait mode. I've been using it a few days like this and its been pretty decent. I basically just took all the sizing values from the blur multi-touch and stuffed them into the gingerbread keyboard. I then resized and moved some of the popups and other stuff to compensate for the changes. For some reason I just can't find a way to fix the landscape size on this keyboard app. It's like the phone "thinks" the screen is still 854 pixels tall in landscape mode.... sigh. No matter what I change in code or xml it never affects the landscape. The irony is that changes will resize horizontally for the keyboard and the suggestion bar (thing that shows predicted words) resizes in landscape when I make changes but I simply cannot increase the height of the buttons at all. I don't really see the purpose in releasing a partially working app though as it will probably just frustrate people.
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix the landscape part I'd be willing to give it a shot, this keyboard has frustrated me to no end.

I have been using Gyrator 2. So far so good. But if the keyboard doesn't increase in size when you rotate the screen I don't see a huge advantage other than reading text or email on wider screen.
With the iPhone, yes I said the bad word, when you rotate the screen your keyboard changes making it easier to type on. That's what I'm really looking for. Something that will change the keyboard to a more finger friendly keyboard when rotated to landscape. Anything out there that can do that?
Also, any way to shrink those huge black bars when you rotate the screen at the top and bottom? I was noticing the top title bar (black bar 1) and the bottom soft menu bar (black bar 2) are HUGE in landscape mode and take up way too much real estate. It would be nice if those screen disolved and only appeared if you tapped the header/footer in a screen. I hope that made sense. Anythign apps than can do that? Or am I wishing on star.
Make sure you're using the default HTC keyboard, not the WM original one. The HTC keyboard (called full QWERTY in the input picker) does change and fill the entire screen widthwise when the screen is rotated.
shueflie, I am. And you're right. It does fit the entire screen but for some reason it sure doesn't seem bigger. Maybe it's just me. I guess it has to be getting bigger...but for some reason it still seems like too many keys squeezed in.
Are there any replacement keyboards, say something like a standard letter only keyboard, and then you press something for numbers only, and then something for special characters only? My fingers are too big.
Try the phone keypad in portrait mode (either with or without T9) and see if that suits you better. There are other keyboards available but I haven't tired any of them
Will give it a shot. If you can direct me to a link with more keyboards I'd appreciate it, in the meantime I'll use the almighty search and see what I can dig up.

Plenty of keyboards out there. Do a quick search in Themes, Applications and Software and you'll find what your looking for!!!
EDIT:
May also want to check Wiki to ensure keyboard software works ok, Programs/Utilites & Games working on the Touch HD (1 - M) & Programs/Utilites working on the Touch HD (N - Z)
Wow an entire wiki, that's what I'm talkin' about. Thanks!

Not all software is shown on these lists. Best option is to do a search for keyboard in Themes, Applications and Software.
If your unsure about anything, refer to this and it should answer most questions you have!
I have tried all the various input methods, but now the keyboard is too huge to use. Only the left half shows on my VX6900. If I go into Landscape mode about 2/3 is visible. I don't know what happened. I was holding the Menu button to bring up the keyboard and suddenly it changed and became massive with some extra icons on the bottom left, like one for settings that were not visible previously on the compact keyboard. Is there a way to get it back to normal without cleaning the SD card and starting anew? I would lose info, if so.

Check the resolution set in you default.txt? That could be causing the issue.
The display is fine. All the apps appear fine. I set the default at 320 height 240 width at 120 lcd density. It's been running great. The keyboard is all that has screwed up, and that had been fine.
Are you using the HTC_IME keyboard or the Android keyboard? I had issues with the HTC_IME in landscape too, so I just stopped using it and have been using the basic Android keyboard.
I don't know. I didn't change anything if that's what you're asking. How would I put it back to the Android keypad if that had happened?
i know this sounds dumb, but did you try restarting the phone?
Yes... Do you think I'd be able to unlock a phone and install another operation system and be that dense?

Some of us are that dense (points to self ). Are you using the black QWERTY soft keyboard, or the white one? The white one with multiple layouts (qwerty, phone keypad etc) is the HTC_IME. I haven't had it work right for me in some time. If you long press on an text box, then you should be able to select the keyboard that you're using. Switch to the Android one and see what happens?
I think you had it right before, I think I downloaded something that had a keyboard with it, a theme that didn't install. And it screwed it up. Since I couldn't use the phone at all, I went ahead and just reset the whole thing. It's working now. Thanks for the help though.

sorry for trying to help, i guess i wont next time
Wasn't trying to be a smart ass. Just was frustrated that I couldn't solve the problem and the system.img for the Vogue for 1.5 doesn't exist online anymore, so now I'm running 1.6 which is nice, but now GPS doesn't work. So had a working machine that was stable, now not so much.
oh well, i have the system.img for 1.5 oh well
I've searched the xda-developers > T-Mobile USA HTC HD2 > T-Mobile USA HD2 General forum threads for an answer and also popped into Google for a few rounds of "Guess your real search terms", but haven't found anything yet.
I would like to see a true Accelerometer-based rotation for our phones, especially the Home Screen.
Yes, I am aware that many of the programs like the camera, SMS, Opera, etc. have this availability, but I was thinking of something more like what the iPod Touch / iPhone can do.
Does anyone know if this is in the works by htc?
Is this something that could possibly be done in a kitchen?
BsB Tweaks will work, however it will break the nice cover flow of the pictures and music Tabs.

Yeah, not so much.
If you're using several modified versions of Manila files, it will not "break" the scrolling or screens at all.
Sense 2.5 supports landscape orientation, just NOT for devices without hardware keyboards.
Anyway, yeah... I've used "BsB Tweaks v1.6" to support landscape orientation for all of the Manila home screens. The only screen that has issues is within PEEP. Nowhere else have I come across issues while using landscape mode.
I've used the "Rotate Screen" program to change between Landscape and Portrait, but that's not what I was looking for.
I want to be able to switch between Portrait (0) to Landscape (270) to Portrait (180) to Landscape (90), back to Portrait (0 or 360) just by turning the phone.
If you've ever played with the Album on an iPod Touch, you'll know what I mean.
Basically, if I turn my phone sideways, the screen should shift to match as Landscape (270), then if I turn it so that the speaker is down and the mic is up (90), the screen should be upside down, portrait style, all the way around until I return my phone to the usual mic-down, speaker up portrait style, effectively making a 360-degree turn, with the screen following all the way.
I realize this is probably complicated to read, it was certainly hard to write

I was under the impression that "total landscape" only worked for 0 and 270 and had to be done manually. Am I mistaken?
If you have NOT seen this yet, then I'm sure you'll be able to appreciate it.
It's pretty sweet...
ChangeScreen v2.78
I wish they were still developing it.. but unfortunately as is it doesnt work too well for my TMOUS HD2...
shame that..
Hey guys, I recently started to use this rom and think its amazing however the keypad looks extremely small and takes up less than a third of the screen. Is this usual with CM roms?
Thanks
Yes, that is standard.
The default keyboard didn't take up much more. Could always go to landscape mode where it's nearer 2/3 of the screen!!
There are quite a few 3rd party keyboards and somewhere but it's a personal choice as to what is better. They all have their own unique features so I would say try a few and see if you like any of them better but none that I have tried take up more than 50%, if that.
Ok thanks for the reply. I guess Ill stick with Swype.
I love the CM keyboard, coming from the Sense one. My accuracy is so much better.
As a matter of fact, I was under the impression it should be bigger. I read that the size was shrunk due to dpi issues but I can't really understand how it made things smaller. Nonetheless, go to market, install "Keyboard from Android 2.3". I am using that instead because I kept getting dropped keys using stock keyboard for some reason. Its the "supposed" large size with added functions. I just recently found out that you can drag a set of arrow keys out of the spacebar in the app, and that is actually very damn useful.
Is there a way to force an application into portrait mode or spoof/disable the accelerometer to maintain portrait orientation across applications? Ideally in the long-term it'd be nice if there were an elegant solution for handling portrait vs. landscape devices and screen rotation - or maybe more apps just need to take this into account - but a workaround for apps that don't would be nice.
My primary use case for this issue is when lying sideways, holding the tablet sideways to read on the Kindle application. The tablet thinks it should be in landscape mode, but I want it in portrait mode lying sideways with me so I can read it. The Kindle application can lock itself, but it always does so into landscape mode on tablets. This is inconvenient since it is easier to read on narrower displays (it's trickier for your eyes to wrap around to the beginning of the next line the longer those lines are).
Using the CyanogenMod beta I came up with a workaround - be sure you have the 180 degree/upside down rotation position disabled so that the display won't flip upside down - now when you turn it upside down it will stay in whichever portrait rotation it was previously in. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out a similar workaround in Beast ROM since the display always rotates, even to the 180 degree/upside down position.
Now I might like to switch back to CyanogenMod in the long term (I use it on my Nexus One and like all the options and developer goodies it gives and it's kinda neat/convenient to be running similar software on both devices), but I think I currently like the Beast ROM better since it feels more solid and less buggy (it's particularly embarrassing trying to explain to friends why the camera orientation is messed up in CM >_>).
Anybody have any other solutions/workarounds for this issue? particularly something that might work with Beast rom?

I would also really like to know if this is possible, for basically the exact same reasons you would.
In the past I would have thought that this would be a really high priority issue, but my experience has been bookreading does not appear to be a very highly used application of pdas/tablets - I remember when the HTC G1 first came out, there was a surprising lag before usable bookreader apps were released...
Just incase anybody is interested, I brought up this question on stackexchange as well:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...fault-screen-orientation-in-android-specified
There are apps that should lock you in to portrait or landscape. Just install one on your device and you should be good to go. Here is an example:

thanks, but unfortunately the problem is more complicated than that. Once you turn off auto-rotate, your device goes back to its default orientation mode.
For a tablet, that is landscape
