Is there a way to delete words from swypes dictionary? I keep getting words that I messed up on in the past. I'm running the latest beta version.
Thank you for any help you may have.

Highlight the word and press the swype button in the botton left corner.
Thank you much

Hey everyone,
Quick question, has anyone discovered a way to manually edit the dictionary in swype.
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about words that are saved from user input, but rather the stock words that are included in the swype dictionary.
I believe you just simply type the words in and then punch in the swype key to uninstall it. Same thing as adding a word.

Thanks for the response. The thing is that won't work for words that are originally in the swype dictionary

I use SwiftKey, which is wonderful. It does word prediction based on sentences, and in some cases it can finish your sentences for you, even before you start typing them. Even if you don't use that much, it has a great landscape keyboard layout that I prefer to Swype (space bar in the middle, not the right like Swype uses), and it's totally worth the purchase price in the market to me.
I'm not sure I'm ready for the swype stuff so I'm sticking with smart keyboard pro. love it
THIS is my reply in a thread that was created 6 hours before yours. Please search next time, answering the same question 3-4 times in the same days is getting old.
Well sorry. Some of us are on the go and xda app does not give search option to me.
Thanks to someone elses helpful reply I got on swype beta so i'm set.
Thank you

is it possible to use the old swype on the s2?
I hate the layout, they added in that dam language button that takes up spacebar room, so I always misclick.. and if I ever hit it it changes my keyboard to spanish, plus the comma is where the spacebar used to be.. worse of all you can't double click to highlight a word, my swype speed is crippled.. so is it possible to get the old swype on here?

You should be able to. At least you need to be rooted and signed up for the swype beta program. Using titanium backup you can uninstall the swype on the phone. Then you can proceed to install the swype beta installer on your phone to get the latest swype beta on there.
I too am not really happy with the keyboard options on the SGS II out of the box. I pulled the LatinIME.apk (aka stock gingerbread keyboard) from cyanogen mod to get my stock android keyboard back since the samsung one made the message screen jump around like a kid on a sugar high .
try Swift Key for me the best keyboard for fast writing
okay ill try the swype beta, its different than the swype we have now?

I found the latest swype beta caused fc's. Eventually found an older (hacked) version that works well.

youre using an older hacked version of swype?, would you share it pretty please?

Am I missing something or did the new update not include the GB keyboard. Im running gingerbread rooted and I checked the settings, it's not there.
would the gingerbread keyboard apk for 2.2 work with the new update? if not is there any way right now to get the GB keyboard?
The ota keyboard is the GB keyboard. It is just themed white.

I don't like some of the word prediction changes they made to it. Like after I type a word and I want to use the suggestion bar to press a punctuation mark and instead it shows a random word it thinks I might want instead of punctuation options.

And yes the GNITE Keyboard you installed on 2.2 will work just fine. Im using it now.

I like Swyping but I wanna try something new. What are some good competitors?

You still want swype? If not, try gingerbread keyboard. It's really nice and has no bugs.

No I wanna try something different than Swype

If you want another "swiping" keyboard try SlideIT or load a newer Sense ROM and enable the "trace" feature of the HTC keyboard.
If you want a strictly tapping keyboard, my favorite is SwiftKey X, although a lot of people also like GO Keyboard.
SwiftKey is the bomb. Predictive text at it's finest.

Tried out Swiftkey. Found Swype is still faster for me

I've never used anything faster than Swype.
You have to use SwiftKey for a couple of weeks for it to learn how you text. Now I only have to enter about half the letters to type because it does so well at predicting. With swype I would constantly get the wrong words.

i personally use SwiftKeyX, it's so fast. If you like a Swyping keyboard, you have SlideIT or Go Keyboard.
another vote for swiftkey X
except for this one random time when it wouldn't autocorrect anymore, i was quite sad because it made me realize how much i suck at typing fast on my phone without it :<
I can't get away from Swype. I'm terrible at tapping in words, and Swype gets it right *most* of the time. "Or" and "Our" always get interchanged though. Haven't given other Swype-able keyboards like Slide-It a shot yet.
I feel like I'm fastest at typing with Slideit. I like Swiftkey most for tap styled keyboards though. Sliding is just so much easier for me though. For some reason, only on this phone do I have trouble with tapping keyboards, on my iPod Touch I do perfectly fine, it's just this phone for some reason, and I've tried multiple keyboards.
TouchPal Keyboard is another alternative to the built in swype.

My only dislike about it is lacking in dictionary. I am constantly adding words to it, but all and all it is a good swype alt.

I have to agree that I get the words wrong a lot with Swype. The thing that bugs me about Swype is that if you try to do it fast you almost always mess up and the prediction can sometimes be really bad

FlexT9 is my favorite for tap or trace. Less error prone for my usage than Swype.

I've seen several of my favorites listed here. I prefer SlideIT and then flexT9 both are good replacements for swype

I've tried to escape my dependancy to Swype but its just not happening. Touch pal is probably the best slider ice found since. For some reason it just seems much more tap friendly and a touch more accurate but its annoying coming from Swype that you have to go word by word if you wanna do any correcting. Swype I could just pound in the whole sentence and then go back to correct anything that went wrong. Swype just had a few too many nice refinements like circling double letters, swyping to open the number pad or selection pad. One feature I would love to take back from touchpal is the abillity to swype the space bar to turn on or off autocorrect for when you know your going to be tapping out some broken words like a password.

If Swype just had SwiftKeys predictions it would be flawless

I myself have been giving swiftkey a try the pass few days, and I don't see myself going back to using swype.

That would be quite a combo indeed!
