I'm on an ATT tab with JM6 flashed on it. I started readers hub last night and saw all 3 apps have an update. When I trigger the update process, samsungapps crashes...
Anyone else seeing this? How did you guys solve this? Perhaps the updated readershub is one of the reasons why JMA is out now...
Thanks

I'm on roto's JMA and can't update all 3 content from readers hub. It said service unavailable (4002). Anyone have the same problem or know a solution where i can get that fixed? Thanx in advance

yup, you have to reflash the csc file from JM6 and change your csc setting to XEU. Warning, this will essentially reset your device so back up your apps before you do this.
Then try the update. Once done, you will also have access to some apps from the samsung apps app.
Here is the link to the csc thread. The csc file should be in the folder where you downloaded the JM6 firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868711
Hope that helps.
Same problem here on euro Gtab with JK5, readershub app crash everytime I hit any of the 3 updates, also the Samsung App has become inaccessible since friday night. It hangs on "Loading..." , I tried to clear the app cache along with its data, but nothing has changed. What do I have to do?

Can you post up the updated Kobo, Press Reader and Zinio apps (probably going to be under /data/apps) so those of us who can't update via Readers Hub / SamsungApps can do so manually?
Thanks

+1 on this one, if anybody would be so kind to post the three apk files so a manual update could be done, it would be awesome. I'm now in the lack of import function in the Kobo powered app, Zinio/PressDisplay needs my country update...

Is this the same effect as flashing JH2 via Odin?
I noticed your .reg file has the line:
"DatadbPath"="C:\\Users\\I.T. Slick\\AppData\\Roaming\\Samsung\\Kies\\00000001.dat"
Should users change the directory path to match their directory structures or does it not matter?
it doesn't really matter, as the line that it looks for is really just the product ID and the version
Thanks. But what stock firmware version?
Any chance you can create an I9000 International version of this fix please.

Would this restore the internal SDCARD at the same time? I'm currently using my phone without the internal 16G SD because it stoped working after trying a Lagfix. Since there are no phones left in any Bell store, I am using it as is without the internal SD. Would this by any chance fix this sort of problem?

No, this is NOT a fix for the Internal SD problem, it just puts you back to stock JH2 and future Froyo 2.2 for the I9000M

Hi
Thanks for this -
I moved over from Iphone and am wondering is there a way to restore/recover the Samsung Galaxy if in case you screw up a future update (i..e Froyo 2.2). From Iphone, you put it in recovery mode and plug it into Itunes and do a restore. Is there some similar functionality in Android through Kies or otherwise? i.e. - a foolproof way to recover/restore if you screw up an upgrade?
cheers

@AllGamer
I had updated through ODIN to JH2 since Kies wouldn't detect a new update, will Kies recognize my phone as "stock" and allow me to update to the new firmware once it's released for the I9000M?
Kies detects my phone like this :
PDA: JH2
PHONE: JH2
CSC: JH2
Or should I just install a older version of Kies and follow your instructions in the 1st post ?

Hi All,
I bought my galaxy tab yesterday from Currys UK. I have been a very happy user of HTC Desire and now i thought to move to bigger screen.
Today, when I connected my phone using Samsung Kies, it informed that there are new firmware (*JJ7) available for tab. My tab currently has firmware *JJ3. I am currently installing the upgrade using Kies but its kindda slow.
Few questions --
1. Firmware upgrade - I think it is same as we say ROM upgrade in HTC phones. Right?
2. In Desire, I used to get OTA (Over the air) upgrade. Is this not the case in Samsung? Will I always get updates via PC? if yes then what a shame?
3. Not sure what benefit I am gonna get after firmware upgrade but its good to be on latest official version.
Thanks in advance.

With the unofficial JM6 ROM (see the other discussion thread in this forum), there is a "Software Update" service that runs in the background, presumably to check for the latest available version of vendor-provided features...or maybe it checks for the latest Samsung stuff...not sure.
Let us know how it goes with the official firmware update.

Hi,
After firmware upgrade, i dont see any major difference, in fact i just used my new galaxy tab for few hrs so probably i would not be able to make a judgement what's the difference.
But its working very well. If you have any specific question then i can try to answer that.
One thing, I am using Google talk on my tab, messages are not in proper sorted order as per date. It's been sorted as per person which means I am getting all the other side messages on the top.
Could you please help me to figure out how can i rectify it or Do I need to upgrade my Gtalk App. Unfortunatly I am not getting this app in Mrket place.
Regards,
JM
Can you do me a favour, open your browser and go to the UK's PeakFM web site and see if you can view the page, click on any of the boxed links and navigate correctly through the web site.
I am finding certain web sites such as this and others are not being displayed correctly, so if the update has cured that I would jump at upgrading.
Thanks.

Have you seen the size of the firmware packages for the tab? Many people won't be too keen on downloading around 300MB over their cell connection.
Having to plug it into the PC once every few months is not that much of a chore.

No-one has yet to find an official changelog for any of the versions of the firmware, Samsung is unlikely to release this information to the public.

No, all my apps are intact after applying the update.
I haven't seen the email app crash since the update (it used to crash reliably every 2nd time) and I haven't had the camera preview messed up either. Of course either of these might just be luck, but here's hoping.

I just updated the firmware.
All the bugs that i know of is still there, the browser lag, the video player thumbnail generation lag, etc.
Don't know what has been fixed here, unless i can see a changelog and test it.
My phone version has been updated from J16 to JJ1.
PDA JJ1 to JK3.
EDIT: The Gallery Loading is faster...ie. it generates the thumbnails almost instantly now. I have around 5-8 folders with over 1 GB of images inside.

That may be the case but Kies is an absolute nightmare.
I also have an SGS and when I applied an upgrade for Froyo on a stock SGS with nothing altered Kies 'bricked' the phone.
Luckily I could still do the 3-Button Recovery so managed to wipe the phone clean and use Odin with the upgrade ROM from samfirmware.com
As such I am no fan of Kies and not looking forward to connecting my Tab to it.
Question to everyone else who has done the upgrade ~ has anyone experienced any difficulties with Kies and the Tab?
I just upgraded also and can't really spot any changes so far. The upgrade did preserve everything, although I had to re-root. Oddly Opera Mobile was crashing a lot also (it hardly ever did prior to the upgrade), but an uninstall and reinstall seems to have fixed that.

It's not because you've rooted anyway because I've done that and I got the update. Perhaps you really are already on the latest? My Tab is an unlocked one bought in the UK on the day of release and was running JJ3 originally.
It would appear the update is for JJ users as in JJ3 to JJ7.

Try telling that to someone who is running OS/X or Linux!
Yes, I know you can use a VM, but:
a) That *is* a chore!
b) You need to have a Windows license, which some people might not legally have.
EDIT: I see there is a Kies Mini now for OS/X users!
OTA is definitely the way to go IMHO.

I'm using OSX at the moment and am fine with having to boot into my win7 partition or use my WinXP VM if need be.
In order to download a 300MB file OTA, i'd either need to change my data plan to one that costs me an extra $30/month, or pay 10c/mb for data beyond my current cap. Not everywhere has good cellular data plans, although Europe, North America and Asis, would encompass >95% of their target market, so I can't imagine they'd care too much.
Obviously they _should_ support OSX users as it's a reasonable sized market, although probably most OSX users would be more likely to get an iPad as they're already suckling at the teat of Jobs. It's simply a USB/COM gateway, basically just an adb redirect, so other than the UI it's not like it's complicated for them to implement as most of the framework already exists in the SDK.
I have been testing several ROMS for AT&T Captivate and Rogers I896 and have download countless version of kies, finally I found one version that works, regardless of the rom, I am running froyo and TWLauncher.
That version is Kies 1.5.3.10075_17, Don't update as soon as you do it will no longer works, I did n't have to do anything to the phone settings, I have external sd card, the only thing to accept will be to download the decoder pack, videos, phone book, message viewer everything works, of course the firmware update will not work if you have a custom ROM. I did n't test with Stock rom. Download link will come soon, currently uploading. ENJOY!

Samsung on facebook said you Need this Update to be able to Get the 2.3.2 Update to your Samsung Galaxy S, Vibrant, Facinate. The 2.2.1 Froyo Update not For everyone Only for Italy, Romania, Germany. 2.3.2 will be Worldwide but carriers will be Delayed.
1. Install samsung+ app from play store and register your note 8 device. You should then see a Galaxy Note 8 device in your account or homepage of the app
2. Go to play store again and on the Samsung + app page scroll down to join beta program for the app
3. Update the app to beta version (11.5.0.1)
4. Restart phone or clear app data and open the Samsung + app again. This time the app will look visually different because it's the beta version of the app
5. The banner should appear just on the homepage below the your note8 model info. Register using that link.
6. After about 5 mins or so. Go to settings- software update and check for updates. You should have the one ui beta update pushed to your device. About 1.5 gigs.
No issues with samsung gear, spay, or Netflix. Confirmed that night mode and Dolby are present
Just to add you need to be on unlocked us firmware n950u

Once down you should have access. That or you can do a search for the apk 11.5.0.1

Hello and thank you for this nugget of information. I have a 950U purchased from Samsung and on T-Mobile. To confirm, if I was to reflash CRK1 via Odin, for the CSC field, I would need to select the CSC_OYN_N950UOYN5CRK1 file correct and not the 'HOME_CSC_OYN....' file?
Thank you!
I think its just for the unlock model 950u1 not the 950u
edit: we can flash 950u1 firmware on our 950u done and running last update. also got rid of that annoying tmobile boot screen
I ended up reverting to CRK1 and it shows me the updated version of Samsung+ available now so I suspected this was the issue. Running through the steps now to get the beta installed.

EDIT: No luck as I suspected since I'd have to be on CRL2 for it to work, I'm just going to do a fresh install of the DRL7 for now.

Thank you!
