Sorry, I didn't know where to post this. I have heard 14 days all the way to 30 days. Anyone know for sure? I can't get a hold of anyone at CS for Sprint ATM.
search on sprint.com my friend. Its there in the terms and conditions.
30 days. Full refund.

Sweet...see thats thing though. I went to Walmart yesterday and they told me it was only 14 days. I guess maybe because they are a third party.

That may be their cancellation time period. If you purchase from a corporate store, we'll take the phone back up to 30 days from the date of purchase for a full refund. It's our Sprint Worry Free Guarantee. However with Walmart being a 3rd party distributor it does make things a bit different. They may only allow a 14 day return and since your device was purchased at a 3rd party retail outlet corporate stores will not refund it for you.

So from Sprint directly, I can cancel my account and return the phone with ZERO fees?
Yes.

Yeah just goto a sprint store, not the evil blue box.
Best Buy has a 30 day return, All money back as well. I don't know about the Shack.
If you purchased the phone from a third party, you have to return to that third party in order to return the phone. You are bound by that third-party's terms and conditions (in addition to Sprint's). Sprint corporate more than likely will not help you with the return/cancellation of the device.
Walmart normally honors the regular return policy of the carrier though, so I think you should call and double check just to make sure. Mention Sprint's 30-day guarantee and speak to the department manager if anything.

Ok cool. That was my next question. I pre ordered the Evo from Best Buy, but I missed the cutoff for the first batch they received. I'm on par with getting mine on the second batch of shipments. Good info to know.

Yes. Pretty much the only thing that you will be held liable for will be any overages, downloads, international calling or international roaming. The phone just needs to be in "like new" condition ie no water damage, physical damage or since we are on a developers forum, changes to the software structure itself.
RS honors the standard 30-day return policy, and EVERYONE honors the new "worry free guarantee" policy Sprint's implemented, since retailers have no bearing on the bill.
Though some retailers have add-ons that you should be aware of and ask about. Wal-Mart MAY have 14 days, which would make things confusing if you cancel with Sprint within 30; what do you do with the phone at that point?
RS offers the 30-day return/cancellation, BUT they also maintain ownership of the device for 90 days following the date of purchase. This means if you cancel the plan on day 31, pay the ETF, and expect to walk away with the phone, you're in for a rude awakening. The device has to be returned to the store within 90 days (obviously without a refund), or you'll be billed $200 per device. This helps them recoup their losses when someone decides to fraudulently activate a phone, so they're not the place to go if you plan on cancelling.
My story is typical, I'm guessing, I am posting to see how many others who have opted for the MIR route have had to go through as much?
Mailed in my MIR form 6/17/2010
About a week later, get an email with the tracking number. Say, 6/23/2010.
I keep checking, I keep checking. Says processing for almost a month.
Then 7/17/2010, it says Invalid, that my address was wrong. Interesting, because I know it isn't, claims my "zip code" must be a valid US zip code. I live in Brooklyn, I know my zip code is fine.
I call them that day. First phone call, the rebate CSR (who informs me that they cannot see my account address yet asks me to verify my name and address, huh?), she corrects the "incorrect address" It's so wildly egregously wrong that I KNOW someone had a turrets moment when they were typing.
I'm told everything is fine. Also that the website takes approximately 2 weeks to update that the rebate is back on track.
I check a week later, 7/23/2010. For whatever reason I called the rebate number again. They tell me that while they have corrected my "address" my zip code appears to be wrong. Again, this is RIGHT AFTER the Rebate CSR has just had me VERIFY my name and address over the phone. I get them to correct the zip code.
Just forward to today: 8/10/2010, I call them because on Friday I received a postcard claiming my address was STILL WRONG. I check online, it's been over two weeks, the information about a disallowed rebate has not been updated.
Again, this Rebate CSR has me VERIFY my name and address but claims they can't see my information, then what are they "verifying" against? When I ask they can't tell me apparently.
After a 10 minute back and forth where I am told on no less than one occasion that "it's computers, they do whatever they want." I wanted to tell him that computers ONLY do what they are told, nothing more, the joke I've heard over the years is if you tell a computer to screw up, it's going to ask you how.
He says, he's now corrected the information and that the system will show a valid rebate status and they will be mailing out my check to me within 2 weeks.
When I asked him about why I called the other times and was told the information had been corrected and it had not, I swear I could hear him shrugging (mentally). "Look man, these are computers, they do whatever they want."
*sigh"
Just checked my rebate status, something they claimed would take two weeks to update, took this guy 2 minutes.
I'd love to hear other stories about rebate hell. Perhaps the power of persistence.
OUCH....that really had to hurt...next time though you should probably go to Radioshack...at least they have instant rebate's in place of mail in.
~Jasecloud4
Why didn't you just go to radioshack or best buy or wirefly or anywhere else that gets rid of the mail in rebate and makes it instant?

Because I didn't. Pure and simple, I didn't. Should I have had my head examined, yes, probably.

I didn't have any problem with my Evo rebate, but did with my last phone's rebate. Everything looked fine until it got to the approved-mailing your check part of the process, then after a few days it was changed to invalid. Called them up, the guy said, "Hmm, that's weird, there's nothing wrong with it" and he put it back in. Website showed approved again for a week, then it went invalid again. Called them again, and another person said "That's weird, nothing wrong with it, let me talk to my supervisor". After holding for a while, they finally put it back in. A few weeks later, I got my check, and got the pleasant surprise of getting a $250 rebate instead of the $100 rebate I was supposed to get
whats the # you called for sprint rebate? is it just the regular customer service line?
i just checked and mines invalid lol.. and i never recieved anything for my other account.
Hopefully the world will start seeing more of this.
http://reasonablecitizen.wordpress.com/2010/03/29/mail-in-rebates-under-attack-in-wi/
I had a similar problem but they gave no reason as to why it was invalid. I sent them an email and they credited me the 100 on my next bill
I didn't have any issues with my rebate (had 2 of them actually). Just received my check last week.
my history with mail in rebates reflects the following rebate cash flow process
1. third party Rebate handler records 250,000 rebates sent in
2. Company (Sprint) reimburses rebate handler for 250,000 rebates plus 30% administrative/handling fees
3. Rebate company "invalidates due to incorrect rebate info" or "lost paperwork" or "computer glitch" 50-70% of rebates
4. Persistent rebaters (25%) call in/email/stalk/harass rebate company for rebate and finally receive rebate
5. Remaining users forget about rebate - rebate company celebrates profitable year with huge salary increases.
Me...I stay on their asses till I get my rebate - complete with calendar reminders and copies of ALL paper work till I receive my rebate.
Mule
just called, they only had 1 of 2 of my rebates on file.. looks like i gotta go back to the sprint store, fax them over everything they requested for the 2nd rebate.. 1st rebate they processed or re validated -_-
I checked my status because of this thread, I was declined, reported I got all discounts at time of purchase. I called, said it was B.S., rep said they will be mailing a $100 check now. I guess I better stay on top of this.
I just sent mine out a few days ago. I'll have to keep up on this. What is the website you guys are going to and checking the status of your rebate?

You'll get an email with a rebate tracking number and a link to the rebate status page.
I checked my rebate about a month ago and it came back as an invalid address. So I called them and gave them my correct address. The reason is that the Sprint store was trying to be helpful and fill out the card but the guy has worst penmanship than I do. So instead of a 0 it looked like a "b" to the processing center. Had to go to Sprint because I am on a friends and family plan.
So they gave me the tracking number. If I look up the original one, still shows as denied - correction processed now that I just checked, but the one with the tracking number that I got when I called Sprint shows in progress and ready to be mailed within 30 days.
The other day I got a post card stating that my address was incorrect, but beats the heck out of me if they can get my address from their files - and bill me each month that they couldn't use the same address to mail me my rebate. So 8 weeks so far and waiting. Would have been nice to have sooner, not that I need the money right now, but last month was a $425 phone bill including the additional EVO tax and phone on my account.
got my check last week, sent in mid-june.
Had no problems here....smooth like always. Sorry to hear about your problem

I purchase mine from sprint because no one had it in stock at the time. I kept stalking bb, rs, and the sprint website until someone had it in stock. I got the"invalid" postcard and when I contacted then they said it was because it had not been 30 days yet. I will be keeping my eye out. I use to work for sprint in the past and they got in trouble once for bogus denials of rebates. Also the rebates are processed by a third party company named Young America, they actually process the rebates for all companies.
Okay, I'm mad. So I decided I did not like the G2 and wanted to hold out for a better phone in the future. I pre-ordered it and called up the local T-Mobile store to ask if I could return my phone. They happily said sure come on in. The closest T-Mobile store is about 20 min away, but it beat shipping the damn phone.
Well, when I got there, they saw I had the G2 and quickly said ohhh nooo sorry sir but you have to ship that back. We can't take it. WTF. I told them they just told me over the phone I could return it and they just kept apologizing.
Then I called T-Mobile on the way home (speaker phone) and told them I needed to return the G2. The rep I got started going on about how come I don't want to keep it. I literally had to argue with this douche before he agreed to let me return it. He also said they would not cover any shipping charges. WTF.
So I finally shipped it off about 2 weeks ago and put $500 insurance on it. Well, I called T-Mobile yesterday to see if they had received my phone yet so I could get the credit put back on my EIP (So I can buy a new phone possibly the HD7.) They said they don't have it and to call USPS. I called USPS and they can't find any info on it except that it *should* be at the T-Mobile warehouse by now. WTF.
So I have both companies telling me to call the other company. I'm really pissed off. I don't know what to do next. :\
tl;dr version : T-Mobile and USPS say they both don't have my phone!
This is why you should NOT send anything USPS but first class mail. THEY LOSE THINGS! UPS and FEDEX are the only way to go when it comes to returning items. Sorry that you have had bad luck. But NEVER have faith in the postal service...
Well if USPS can't prove that was delivered you have insurance on the package file a claim and get the money for it.

I shipped mine back FedEx Ground with $500 worth of insurance. I have the signature of the person who signed for it. Call me paranoid, but I don't trust USPS for squat either. It cost me a total of $11, including the box and filler.
Did you fill out the return sheet and provide T-Mobile the tracking number (as instructed) *before* they received it?

Nobody gives you insurance by default. You have to ask for it *and* pay for it. Even then, you have to prove to them that it wasn't delivered, which requires tracking and signature confirmation.
Sucks, but USPS has always been like this.

I sent mine back via UPS, as soon as I left the store I called T-Mo and they put the tracking info in their system, checked the status and since it showed up they went ahead and credited my account as if they already received it.
Victor
I also believe that when you talked to them, they more than likely said to ship it back via UPS or FedEx to insure you have a tracking number. At least they have told me that every time I have sent a phone back to them over the years.
You'll be alright. Make sure to save your receipt from USPS and a tracking number. Call tmobile until you speak with a supervisor. You may need to wait for them to call you back. Tell em your story, give them your numbers and they'll track it down. They have a way of tracing packages. You'll get your money back if you have proof you sent it and you push hard.
Good luck.

Yeah I still have the receipt with the tracking. The problem with the tracking is that when I try to search for it, it says this:
"Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office."
So, yeah, I won't be using USPS again. As for whether or not T-Mobile said I could use USPS, they did.
I'll try getting a hold of a supervisor tomorrow. Hopefully they can get this resolved for me. Luckily, I'm in CA, so I have 30 days to return it.
I'm confused....did you order delivery confirmation on the package? Because the only way you can track a package with USPS is if you order delivery confirmation (or if you send it via registered mail...but I think that's only for envelopes).
Btw I sent my G2 back to TMO and they credited my account $10 for the shipping.
Big mistake sending it USPS... should have sent it UPS or FedEx.

what everyone else has said about USPS - and it can take 6 months + to resolve a loss claim with them - biggest joke in the world.
I had an experience with them over a $505 COD pmt that never came back to me and it took over six months to resolve and the only reason it got resolved then was that i knew someone high up in the Postal system that pointed me at the right person to talk to. Without that pointer, i'd still be waiting for that pmt to show up
UPS or Fedex aren't the greatest, but at least losses are resolved in short order (2-3 weeks at the outside) - we ship a lot with UPS so we've had some experience with them. And their tracking svc actually shows where something is in the system - postal shows "in transit", sometimes 3 weeks after it's been delivered

I preordered the G2 and was fully aware that I'd have to pay for shipping if I returned it during the buyer's remorse period. Too bad someone from the tmo store gave you wrong info - but that is to be expected. I never rely on the store workers for information.
Chances are they will find your phone so don't sweat it!

So who do you recommend besides Fedex or UPS? For small packages of high value Fedex is better. For heavier / larger stuff UPS is the best - as far as price goes at least. This is true of 3 day / ground type service insured.

Remember, this is USPS.
When the recipient signs for the package, they return mail you the little yellow card (also via USPS, and also just as likely to be "lost" by them.)
In any event, you'll have to go through USPS and file a claim. They might make you wait a few more weeks, so the return card has time to arrive.

$11 FedEx Ground (via Kinkos, including packing material and an outer box)
UPS price is under $10 for ground
There really isn't any other viable option.
FedEx vs UPS - It really doesn't matter anymore. Both are comparable for most packages. Just don't use USPS for anything important.

I don't think so...
The email said "unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online."
I am using Atrix on AT&T, and they cannot verify my information? What the hell? Why not just simply call me to "verify"?
It hasn't happened to me but I didn't sign in to order it. On the website it still says "In Progress" for me as well.
I haven't gotten an E-Mail from them about it being canceled, but I noticed earlier that the $50 credit was canceled from my card before it even went through.
I just checked my bank account and I saw that I had my $50 back as well.
Upon detailed inspection of my account the order still says Shipment Pending but in my bank statement the transaction doesn't exist. Like it never happened. On another note, if you check the AT&T store it now shows the lapdock as $99.99 and it is currently "Out of Stock."

They have taken the money from my account and haven't put it back yet. Maybe good news for me? Time will tell! Still showing shipping pending
I suggest if you all really want the Lapdock, to go get the $75 refurbished one now!
Sure you pay $25 more, but it's still a great deal and if you don't get a confirmation email with tracking # on your current order, then you are most likely SOL just like the whole HP Touchpad and Blackberry on Black Friday incident a while back.
I called them they told me they were on back order and when they ship they are going to charge my card

Mine's cancelled also. I'm actually glad about it; almost got a buyer's remorse. Oh well, no more conflicts between blur or CM7. Cyanogenmod ftw.
same here. I called but the att guy knew nothing
I have pending shipment, no email about cancellation and money still gone. I want a dock! haha
what i'm curious about is are they still making lapdocks or have they switched solely to lapdock 100s now? Because I'm tempted to call ATT and have them switch my order to a refurbished unit in order to get one. If they're still making the OG lapdock then I'm not too worried. but if they aren't then I'm gonna be pissed =(
I received the email today after ordering on the 4th.
My email stated it was canceled because they were out of stock.
What pisses me off is many others received their order that ordered after I did.
I spent an hour on the phone Monday being bounced between ATT departments and everyone of them said they could not find any order I placed.
The last one I talked to stated the product was back ordered and I would receive it when it was back in-stock.
After this mess I am considering dropping service. I am not that concerned with the dock itself but I have an issue staying with a company that clearly does not fulfill its obligations after the confirmed an order.
I second your thoughts.
Once they confirm order, they must fulfill that.
If you all have confirmation papers of your order, you can try what I did. I got my Lapdock today by calling first to my ATT Store I go to and I had them price match it for me for $50. All I had to do was call the ATT customer care and cancel my order and have them put a note in my account for the store in my area to do the price match.
I heard from another thread that ATT had 4000 on backorder and I used that line as leverage.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
I did the same thing today. Had to call all three stores in my town to find the last one, but they did match the price and I carried it out with me.
Called and cancelled my order too so that should free one up for someone!
Get 'em while you can.

I just did the same thing this morning. Called a nearby store and asked if they could price match my online purchase. They said no.
Called another nearby store and this store said yes. Took all of 5 minutes to buy the dock, no questions at all whatsoever. I just gave them a copy of my confirmation email and I was out of the door. I am sure local stores are dying to get these out of their inventory because I doubt they sell anymore, they don't even carry the Atrix anymore. I don't know why the first store with 14 in stock didn't want to do it, the second store only had 2 in stock.
I, too did the price match thing with a local store! I called about 5 different At&t places until the one 5 miles away agreed to the price match...but said he couldn't give me a discount right at the store...but would credit the excess to my next bill. So I said, sure why not...I just didn't wanna wait and wait and wait for nothing from At&t anymore..and I am very happy with it! Yay!
The new lapdock for Atrix 4G isn't listed online anymore at AT&T in the regular store which means they won't be selling it through the regular online store anymore. (Refurb still listed for $75). If an item doesn't show up, it's gone for good is what I was told by AT&T. Lapdock does however still show up in the Premier store for $299 and is available.
I originally ordered two GSIIIs via a phone rep, but the geniuses at the AT&T warehouse forgot to include my apartment number on the air bill. As such, the phones could not be delivered (since this was a restricted package, UPS would not allow AT&T to add my apartment number to the package) and were sent back to the returns center in Ft. Worth, where they were received yesterday. In the meantime, I purchased the phones at a local AT&T store (should have done this from the beginning) and waited for the package to be delivered to the returns warehouse to receive my refund.
Since the phones were received yesterday morning, I logged into my AT&T account and chatted with a rep regarding the refund time frame. She informed me that it takes 5-7 business days to process a return, which is totally acceptable. However, I nearly fell out of my chair when the rep stated that it may take 1-2 billing cycles (1-2 months) for the money to appear in my account. I explained to the rep that I used a debit card to pay for the original order, and that there are no billing cycles associated with it. She stated that it's still treated like a credit card and it will take the same amount of time.
Can anyone confirm this? If worst comes to worst, I'll have to wait, but having to wait 1-2 months to get my money back ($435 is not exactly a small chunk of change) a little extreme, especially since it takes 5-7 days to process the return.
I believe if your debit card has the visa logo or something similar on the bottom right that is completely true and the rep wasn't lieing to you.

I think you can file a claim with Visa, they will reimburse your money and take it up directly with ATT. My wife would know more and if I get a chance I'll bug her about it later this evening.

Yeah, my bank's debit cards have the Visa logo on them. I'm going to call customer service and see if I they can do anything to expedite the refund, especially since it was their error to begin with. I've returned purchases made with my debit card to other vendors and received prompt refunds. AT&T already got their phones back, so there is absolutely no reason why I should have to wait that long to get my money back.

I think you can file a claim with Visa, they will reimburse your money and take it up directly with ATT. My wife would know more and if I get a chance I'll bug her about it later this evening.

Thanks for the info. I may take it up with my bank also.
I sent mine back for an exchange (had a defective unit) and I was told they issue a credit within 1-2 business days once they receive the equipment. But, they added the banks usually put a 1-2week hold on the funds when it comes to debit cards. I was dealing with the eCommerce (I purchased online through att.com) folks at AT&T. I sent mine back last week via USPS and the warehouse has still not received the device so I don't know for sure how it will work out.

Last night, I received an e-mail from AT&T, confirming that the returned phones were processed and the refund was authorized. The e-mail states that a refund will be issued back to the original form of payment (in my case, my debit card) within 5-7 business days. Once the refund is issued, it "will appear on your credit card account in the next few days (varies by merchant) or AT&T Wireless statement within one - two bill cycles."
Based on the above, it seems that the live chat rep slightly misinformed me (probably unintentionally). If the refund was issued to my AT&T monthly bill, it would take 1-2 billing cycles to appear. However, this doesn't appear to apply to debit/credit card refunds. As I've mentioned previously, I've had money refunded to my debit card in the past, and it usually appeared in my account as soon as the refund was issued. I guess the hold policy depends on the bank.
With regards to your device, do you have the tracking/delivery confirmation number for the shipment? If yes, what's the current status?
The last update was Friday the 13th. It states "picked up by the shipping agent".
But, I just received the same email as you from AT&T this afternoon.

I used to work in an att call center(sales/ccare)and we are supposed to tell the customer it can take up to 2 billing cycles for the funds to be refunded back your account, however it NEVER takes this long, I have never seen it take long before.
