Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has any example code that does the following?
First, we have a flat file with the following fields:
Name, FileName.ext, FileType, Date
(ex. Video1, Video1.MP4, Video, 12-15-10)
Second,
There are 3 different file types (Audio, Video, and PDF)
What we need is an app that will open that flat file and display that in a list format. The will be able to View video files, Listen to Audio files and read PDF files.
We do not need it to be fancy. Just a list format. Click the APP, it will open the file and display a list.
So the phone will display like this (all text links will work for now):
Video1 (Click To Watch), Video
Video2 (Click To Watch), Video
Video3 (Click To Watch), Video
Audio1 (Click To Listen), Audio
Audio2 (Click To Listen), Audio
PDF1 (Click To Read), PDF
PDF2 (Click To Read), PDF
The program should just use the phones default tool for playing, listening or reading. So there is no need to code a Video or Audio player.
Thank you.
Update
We can compensate anyone willing to help with this application. Please let me know if you are interested.

hi,
how do i convert videos taken with the blackstone?
i setup mpeg4 but neither windows movie thing editor nor virtualdub can handle the file.
but i can play it with mpc without any problems.
linux...at least i see the video
i like to convert it to some moviemaker compatible format so i can quick edit some files to one video with effects in between.
thx!
Blackstone videos are already highly compressed as it is, so recoding them only to be able to use them in movie maker would give you awful videos. your best bet is avisynth - a frameserving application which basically feeds uncompressed stream from original video to the editing application. The idea is this, you create a text file which contains a link to the input file, save it with an .avs extension and then open that with an editing application. The avs file could be as simple as this:
DirectShowSource("c:\VIDEO0001.mp4")
I tried it now, and it works. You need to download avisynth and install it. Unforunately, i don't remember which apps open .avs files.
sorry i don't get it...
it's not about compression in detail.
i mean i do not want to compress or decompress the files.
i can not use it with moviemaker cause i just hear the sound and the picture is black.
so i thought i convert it to a format moviemaker can handle as it seems htc is saving it in some format that can not be used.
which i think is strange but...what do i know...
i which i could do all that with my jaunty
Well, here's the deal - every time you edit a video and save it, you are recompressing it, meaning you're getting a degraded picture quality. If you are only cutting out portions of video, then you can save it without recompression, meaning you get the same quality as the original file. The moment you add effects to the video (transitions, resizing, etc...), you have to reencode video - and get lower quality. Now, that may not be a big deal when your input files are high resolution videos, but when the input file is a heavily compressed ile, such as those made with Blackstone, it will definitely show.
Movie maker can't open mp4 files. The way i see it, if you really want to edit the files, your best bet is to download Super, a freware app which uses AviSynth as a part of it's encoding process, then output the files from blackstone as avi files in HuffYuv codec (lossless compression codec), open it in Windows Movie Maker, edit it and then save it. Note that Windows Movie Maker doesn't output to mp4, only wmv.
As far as getting only the sound an no video - deinstall all codecs or codec packs from your system and install ffdshow.
Whenever I download & view an online youtube video I'm not sure what player is being used? After selecting a video to watch I'm then presented with a screen that gives me 3 options. These are: Open, Save & Cancel.
I always select open, I then have to wait maybe 2 or 3 mins until the video downloads. Then a player opens up and I'm able to watch the video. After watching the video I then select an icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen which gives me the options to either Delete or Remove All Finished. I always select delete. Although this has implications mentioned in another of my threads regarding storing these video files in a folder on the phone (see other thread).
The player that the phone is using I know is not Windows Media Player. But what is it? On my old Omnia i900 after selecting a video to watch, Media Player immediately opened up and began buffering the video. After probably 10 seconds at the most I was then able to watch the video. I didn't have to wait 2 or 3 minutes to actually download the file.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Anyone please?
Any help would be so appreciated. Thx.
I've just put a few videos onto my missus's Legend, but I can only play then via 2 methods.. 1... download Astro (or similar!) and find the video in here.. or 2. open the photo viewer and scroll through all the thumnails until I find the one I'm looking for...
Is there a way to create a shortcut to the video player on the home screen? or will I need to download a standalone video player?!
SWF is an Adobe Flash file format, which is supported by Adobe Flash Player and Adobe AIR software. The SWF file format is designed to be an efficient binary delivery format. The file format is very popular. But maybe sometimes you need to convert SWF fillies to other videos formats. Maybe sometimes, you need to convert swf files to jpg, or you want convert swf to adobe premiere. Ok, if you want to do these, the only thing you need to do is to download a swf video converter mac. There are alot of guides around for converting movie files so they can be played back on S7/Gear VR some of them might actualy work but ive noticed that alot of the guides forgets to mention the audio output when they convert they only tell you about the video so to remedy this ill write down my experience..
1. Most guides tell you correcly about the video formats
2. Most guides don´t tell you that AC-3 won´t work. Only AAC and MP3 works.
3. First i thought avidemux would be perfect but apparently it cant read the complete audiostream on the files iv´e tested with no matter what audio settings i used in avidemux the output file ended up without speech.
4. So. Download ffmpeg
5. Put your video file in the ffmpeg\bin folder or add a path to the environment variable.
6. Open a cmd in your ffmpeg\bin folder and paste this line
ffmpeg -i YOURFILENAME.mkv -c:v copy -c:a aac OUTPUTFILENAME.ACC.mkv
7. After the conversion is done the output file should play correctly on your S7/Gear VR
8. Last note i have only tested this with movies that have an AC3 stream but it should work for other audio streams.
A liitle followup..
I thought it was a hazzle to install Emby or any other dnla client and milkvrlauncher just to watch local media in milkvr(And im not even supposed to have access to milkvr for that matter..) so i went the easy way and simply installed Abyss webserver added the mkv file extension and added my media files to the htdoc folder and now i simply open the local web adress in the samsung internet browser and it lists all the files and folders i have in the htdoc folder and i can can watch what ever file i put in the htdoc folder.
