Someone changed the hero pic

Sorry but thought I'd say as it confused me someone has mixed the hero g2 with the g2 touch and changed the picture so it's not a hero anymore

lol, just came in here to create a thread about that... sure enough, someone beat me.
The Hero (known as the G2 for no apparent reason) is definitely not the same as the new T-Mobile G2.
Which reminds me... where the heck does the G2 moniker come from with respect to the Hero? What carrier called it the G2?

Damn it T-Mobile, stop confusing us.

The T-Mobile g2 forums are gone now too. Sounds like we have a moderator who doesn't quite know what's going on and decided to merge the hero and g2 forums. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Thank you for the report. I will escalate this to the forum admins ASAP.

The naming of the new handset is silly, but I don't see any posts merged. I guess the admin added the new forum, then the empty one got merged with this.
It will be fixed though...

Holy ****! HTC obviously can't handle numbers...... They screwed up with the 2.1 (yes I'm talking to you HTC!!!) release too hehe

To further avoid confusion, you should keep this forum as just "Hero" and name the new one "Desire Z" (as that's it's official name).
"G2" are just nicknames given to each phone by T-Mobile; they're not very creative, evidently.

In the UK, it is the T-Mobile G2 Touch, and that is its official name. But Desire Z perhaps shouldn't be using the G2 moniker though... Being as it's already taken by the hero...

Not entirely sure......but I think it has something to do with people complaining about the amount of ROM's based of the Ruu that are just made in the kitchen.

Seriously, though, starting a thread with just a link and no commentary or opening salvo for a discussion is a tad weak. And I believe that, as has already been discussed, the unlock bootloader tool will only work on certain phones, and the EVO 4G is not one of them.
I don't particularly care, since I don't want to register my phone with HTC along with the fact that I've potentially voided my warranty. That can stay between me and my friends at XDA.
Finally, I will be curious to see how this Sense Developer gambit pays off. Are people really going to devote time to developing Sense-specific apps and widgets? I support that some developers worked on apps for the PlayBook too, so anything is possible.

Thanks for the lols. I did think to myself that the post was a bit lacking, but it's not hard to click the link. As you said, however, it's kind of pointless for the EVO4G right now, except maybe the Sense SDK might allow for some nifty things.
I wish HTC would make the source code page easier. Look it up by device or something. A huge list of random source code postings is fine when it's short like it is now, but it's only going to grow. Yea yea... CTRL-F is my friend...

This post has inspired me. I think I may actually try and put together a REAL guide on how to unroot after Revolutionary. But it'll have to wait until tomorrow, since I only have access to my phone right now.

In the future, please take other people into consideration when you choose to share what you know, but for "reasons" cannot share. It's just a waste of time and it's childish. "I've got something you don't have...nah, nah...nah...nah...nah...nah"...catch my drift? You were better off adding this as a comment in the Revolutionary exploit thread.

Despite the fail of the OP, S-ON would be nice. I have been having random, intermittent touchscreen hesitation since before root. I was hoping flashing a new ROM/kernel would fix it, but no go. Warrantees FTW!

Like I said, I'll try and put together a guide on how to do it tomorrow. I did already post instructions on a thread somewhere (I think it was one of those "how to unroot my EVO" threads), so if you search, I'm sure you can find it .
