Hey freinds I want help I have all ma dell streak system crashed.
i am running android 2.2 dj steves 1.4.6 rom.when I try update via update.pkg on sd card I get whole screen black.i waited for 25 minutes but no change.
please suggest me thread or forum on uninstalling dj steves rom and getting back on official froyo.
You need to flash the stock recovery image for the rom you want then in recovery pressing option 2 should install .pkg straight from there (if you get the clockworkmod screen then you have flashed recovery.img instead of stock.img and a blank screen normally either means you havent flashed the correct stock image for the buis you want or try pressing the camera button twice after option 2)

Alright, I gotta ask these questions before I attempt to do it because Im nervious of screwing anything up.
When you install a ROM on your Device, you rename the file to update.pkg and put the phone in recovery and "install from update.pkg on sd card". Then you do that and everything is good to go. The new rom is loaded and all is well. The question is after I do that, is it ok to take the Update.pkg off of the SD card after I already updated to the new rom?
Now with update.zip. How do I install the update.zip file when in recovery mode it says "Install from update.pkg on sd card"? It doesnt say Update.zip?
I also took the update.pkg file off the sd and sit it on my desktop so android would just read the update.zip and not the update.pkg? Anyone please help me with these questions? Thank you so much
EDIT: Also, the phone is shutting down and booting up with no problems with update.pkg off of the sd card. Is that ok?
yes, u can delete it, it's only needed for the flash process, u can factory reset later if u need without the update.pkg being there.
For the update.zip u have to install a new recovery through fastboot, u can use this [RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1 WORKING! or this NEW StreakMod Recovery

Thank you for that! So are recovery files differnet for every rom and update.zip that needs to be applied? Like now Im on the latest froyo and used the 309 recovering.img. If thats the case, how does one go looking for the right recovery.img for each update? lol
I'm trying to get this gingerbread keyboard on the streak.

for the zip files u just need the one of those clockwork recoveries, to flash an update.pkg it depends on what u want to flash, but the 309 recovery img works for the official dell 315 and 318 too
Thank you for the response. I have 318 installed. I'm gonna fastboot the clockmod and give it a shot. Ill reply back after football

Ok. I ran into a problem. I fastbooted StreakMod Recovery and got to the update.zip from SD card and went through with it. Then When I booted the phone up I keep getting a pop up that says System Exception. And When I tried to open the keyboard, (Update was Gingerbread Keyboard) it ended the process of it everytime. The pop up keeps comming up and I keep hitting quit. How can I fix this?
Ok I fixed that problem by going into the system folder and deleting Lation.apks. Then went online and found a website with the actual APK of the keyboard. Emailed it to myself and downloaded and installed it on my phone. Wihtout having to use any recovery.
Hey everyone,
Today is my worst day, because I can't reinstall froyo 2.2 from the
recovery menu. I had installed clockworkmod and noticed that you can't install/update any .pkg files. Because of this, I wanted to go back to the
stock recovery, but I can't, because I don't have it! Can someone please update the 2.2 stock recovery image! Is there another way to install .pkg files without needing the stock recover menu, because my dell is stuck in the boot menu!

Omg, thank you!!!
edit:
It worked!
Ok it has been awhile since I have messed with my wife's Streak or since I had one (I went with the Captivate). She just got a replacement Streak from Dell and it came with the AT&T locked 1.6 on it. I have tried flashing clockwork and streakmod to it and it does not stick. What am I doing wrong? What am I missing? Please help her gripping is about to kill me.

Take a look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805112 Don't forget that you need to root before you attempt to flash.
You don't need root before flashing a custom rom. Flash streakmod recovery then use the fastboot command to reboot the phone. Make sure you hold both volume buttons as the phone reboots. If you let the phone boot normally streakmod recovery is overwritten by the stock recovery, but if you don't let it boot you can boot into streakmod and then flash your custom ROM. All of DJ Steve's ROM's are already rooted.
If you want a custom rom this is what I would do:
Since you can get 2.2 OTA, I would go ahead and upgarde to the OTA version of 2.2
Copy the ROM you want and your install.txt (if needed) to your sd card
Flash streakmod recovery
Boot into the streakmod recovery and install the ROM
You will now be rooted and have the ROM you want installed.
If you don't want a custom ROM I suggest:
you upgrade to the 2.2 OTA version (and then apply a different stock version if you want)
then root (SuperOneClick will probably work)
rename the file install-recovery.sh that is in /etc to something else to prevent the recovery from being overwritten
Flash streakmod recovery
make whatever other mods you want
If you want a version of Android beyond or different than the OTA update leave the stock recovery on the phone until you get the stock version of Android you want installed.

Thank you I just found that a little while ago, the stickies don't show up on the tapatalk app unless you select it.

Marvin I tried that but it was not working, hence the reason for questioning.
Thank you for your help from both of you.

also i cant get the 2.2 ota update to go through either
what recovery do you have. You cant do a stock update with a custom recovery.

the stock recovery, that is referance in the link above.
i did "attempt" to go straight to steves's build by flashing clockwork, but it did not take (at least it did not appear to) so i started following that guide and it is NOT working.
How can I determine which recovery i am using? it "looks" like the stock one to me but maybe i am wrong
You need clockwork or streakmod recovery to flash one of dj steves roms. When you boot into recovery if you select update with the camera button and you get the dell logo with the exclamation mark in a triangle, press the power button and if a blue menu comes up then you have streakmod. I havent used clockwork as i've heard it doesnt play well with the streak, so im not sure if the steps are the same. You can search the forums for streakmod recovery and flash it if you dont have it.
ive tried using both streakmod and clockwork, but they just give me a blank screen.
does anyone know how to get to the official dell update when the update screen says none available?
are you pressing the power button after selecting option 2?? With streakmod you'll get a blank screen until you press the power button. To manually do a stock update you'll need to flash a stock recovery, then copy update.pkg to your sd card and update by selecting option 2 in recovery.
Picture gallery that shows what to expect from streakmod recovery. As usual click on the thumbs for larger images.
After selecting the #2 option at the first screen you should see a Dell logo and an exclamation point. Press the power button to get the streakmod options. If you get a blank screen wait a few seconds and try the power button
ill give that shot tonight thank you
I've tried restoring CWM backup of 2.2 the phone stopped booting up, had to go into pink screen and restore /image/ folder from 2.3.5. It now boots into 2.2 but is all messy and laggy.
It seems 2.3.5 update modified some ROM stuff that isn't accessible with either pink screen or CWM Recovery?
Clean way perhaps? Are there entire ROMs (img) for this phone?
With 2.3.5 :
You can't install CWM directly from Pink Screen
You can't even reach the pink screen without root
You can't go back 2.2, even you managed that, bootanimation will be from 2.2.2 and oemlogo from 2.3.5
As you can see, Huawei blocked our freedom

Download any oficial rom, take out your micro sd card, copy the dload folder of the oficial update do internal memory and boot your phone while pressing volume up + volume down at the same time till it starts instaling the oficial rom.
I have a rooted Nexus 4 running stock 4.2.2 and recently it has started playing up. If I try to back up the ROM it reboots and I get left at an Android screen showing a Green robot picture that says "No command". I tried changing from Clockwork Mod recovery to TWRM but it made no difference. Can't seem to find any answers hence my need to post this thread. Any ideas please?
What did you do to the phone before you noticed it was acting up?
From efrant's android 101 sticky:
I see an Android lying on its back when I boot into recovery. Why?
What you see is the main screen of the Nexus stock recovery. To access the menu, you need to push and hold power and press volume up.
I just flashed CWM, but every time I try to boot into CWM, I keep seeing the stock recovery. Why?
If you updated your Android build using an OTA update file (either manually or over-the-air), the update placed two files on your device that re-flash the stock recovery every time you reboot your device. These two files are:
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh <== this is the script that installs the patch file
/system/recovery-from-boot.p <== this is the patch
You have to rename (or delete) one or both of them, then re-flash your custom recovery. Now it will stick.

I was in ROM manager and was trying to do a back up of my rom which I have done many times before, it usually results in a reboot into CWM where the backup takes place?
