Anyone notice that from bluetooth you can't do voice control while ur phone is on standby and locked, u have to wake it by pressing the power button then the voice control starts.
so am i really the only one that has the issue when i try to do a voice command from bluetooth i need to bring the phone from standby to complete activating it?

Has anyone any idea on how I can adjust the time required to hold the headset connect button in order to activate the voice command? Currently I need to hold this for far to long in order to activate it.
Maybe there's something in the manual, but I can't even anwer calls with that button. I think it's supposed to be short press to answer calls, and long press for voice command. Still not figured it out.
That's odd, I press the button for a brief moment , and voice-command is activated.....BT headset btw, but it works like a charm...
The handsfree wired headset that came with the Dopod is the one that takes quite a few seconds of holding to respond. I imagine that a bluetooth headset would work differentially as the time is probably controlled by the device itself rather than the HTC 3600.
Does anyone know if this is possible? I want to make it so when I push a button on my headset it will activate MS voice command So I can tell it to make a call or play a song or what not.
I have a jabra 8040 and just have to hold the botton on the headset until I hear a second beep. about 1 sec later voice command turns on and allows you to do just that.
Where can I find information on how to handsfree initiate a call from a bluetooth headset? My understanding is that Android 2.2 Froyo supports this. I have my Plantronics 975 headset synced and working, but can't get voice dial to initiate. Pressing the button on the headset just makes a beep, but doesn't do anything on the phone. Pressing the button twice redials the last number, but it did that on my old G1 with Android 1.6.
Is anyone using a Plantronics 975 with a G2? Does voice dialing work for you?
Thanks,
Tauren

No idea about the plantronics. With my headset (Sony DR-BT22), pressing the call button on the headset starts the voice dial app (audio through the headset) and a long-press performs a redial.
I figured it out and feel stupid now. But just in case someone else is having trouble, here's the answer...
* Hold down the main button for 2 seconds and voice dial starts (see http://bit.ly/bO0Gvo)
* Double press the main button and redial starts
* If bluetooth is not connected, single press the main button to connect.
* Not sure what a single press does if the connection is already established.
I never tried a long press because a really long press shuts the headset off. I didn't even think that there might be a "short long press" and a "long long press".
On my Moto H17 BT headset, it seems a single press on the button initiates the voice dialer on my G2, and a "short long press" redials.
I'm sure I'm being very dim but I thought Froyo supported Bluetooth voice dialling. Just tried with my BlueAnt headset, press the button on the headset and I get the low beep that means it can't do anything. I can receive calls on the headset fine.
Should this work and what am I doing wrong?
TIA

I too had some issues with this, especially after installing skype. I finally got it to work by setting up the phone dialer as the default and pressing the bluetooth button twice insted aod the usual once.
It seems that some firmwares have this disabled. not sure why.
Previously on my S2, I can not activate voice dialing with my BT headset while my screen is locked with anything other than a simple swipe. For example, I use pattern lock. Whenever the phone is locked, pressing the button on my BT headset does nothing. When the screen is unlocked, it brings up the voice dialing feature whether it is S voice on the note 2 or vlingo on the S2.
So whenever I am out fishing or driving and wants to make a quick call using voice dialing while the phone is in my pocket or in a waterproof case, I can't do it without unlocking the phone first by drawing my pattern. That is a real PITA so often, I do not lock the phone except with a simple swipe which has zero security.
Solution:
Tap the green phone app, select call settings, Accessory settings for call, look under BT headset settings for outgoing calls, enable Make calls even when device locked.
Now using my LG stereo bluetooth headset, I still can't directly access the S voice when the screen is locked. But, I can long press the call button(on my BT headset) and then it will dial the last number called. Then I quickly hang up, lightly press the call button(on my BT headset), and then S voice will be enabled and I can say "Call David Mobile or play music, etc).
Try it on your phone and BT headset and let me know if you can access S voice directly while the screen is pattern locked. I would have to quickly dial the last number first and quickly hangup in order for S voice to wake up behind the locked screen.
