Changing intensity of vibrations - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering if there is anyway to make the vibration less intense because it is so intense that it makes a noticeable noise in class and such... and if I put it on silent then I do not notice any notifications unless I pull out my phone

Samsung Epic vibration mod

On the some of the other phones I've owned you were able to modify the way the phone vibrated when in silent mode. There were options that could set it to pulse and change the duration and increase the vibration strength.
I was curious if this was something one of the developers could possibly bake in to a future rom or if anyone knew any apps that did it.
There are apps thatll do that

Really? You got my interest. You care to name one that'll do any of what the op said? I am personally interested in increasing the vibrate strength to something a bit more less pansy like.
Hell, my pager from the late 80's had more a vibrate than this thing does. I can set the phone on top of my hand whilst I am on my laptop and if it weren't for handcent lighting up the screen i'd have never known I got a text message while on silent/vibrate. It's weaker than a ladybug fart.
Smart vibrator for one ,its free im sure there are others havent really looked

You can customize how long short or strong it vibrates for both calls and other notifications

How about a program that causes the Epic to vibrate stronger than its default maximum? I think that's what op was asking. I have the same question since my intensity decreased after the update. Can we mess with the "settings"?

Led wont turn off

Hey guys obviously I'm having a problem that my green/red led doesn't shut off it just continues to stay on. I was wondering of there is a way I can turn off led notifications or disable the led all together? I'm running cm7.
Thanks in advance

And I don't mean just like turn it off through settings, because that does not work. Is there any way to actually turn it off through terminal or adb?

Dont mean to sound harsh - when did you get it wet?
That would make so much more sense but I haven't put it to test really with water. It just started happening out if nowhere

lol. Notice how I didn't ask you "IF" you got it wet, but "when"?
I see this all the time. All it takes is a drop of rain or steam from the shower.
You have the same problem with different roms? 99% of the time something like that is water damage or some other hardware issue.
Also, there's no way to do it with ADB.

[Q] Vibrator problems?

Random "click" noise

Every now and then, when opening an app or using the system buttons at the bottom, a very short "click" noise comes from the speaker. I have my N4 on silent/vibrate all the time and it is not an operating system noise that's meant to be there because its random. The best way to describe it is that it seems like the phone is "accidentally" starting to play a sound then stopping because its realised its in silent mode.
Anyone else getting this? Views on this problem?
(It happened again as I was typing this, so it happens through the the keyboard key presses as well)

Media Volume
Maybe you have to turn down the media volume.
I don't have a nexus 4, but I do get that random click noise on my incredible s as well, and from many different roms. I am not sure what it is, though.
Key press noise in settings turn it off may stop it the Gnex had this issue and still does

I get that click noise occasionally on my HTC HD2.
Running PACMAN 4.1.2 Jellybean at the moment.
I had this issue as well. I just turned off touch sounds and all is well.
I should note that I have keyboard sounds enabled and I do not experience the random clicking noise.
It seems to be isolated to the enabling of touch sounds, whether on vibrate or any audible volume.

Could it possibly be the autofocus that people are taking about?

It does sound like that . mine sounds loose when I tap that back glass everything seems to be working OK and not sure if I'll let it bug me just yet

I have the autofocus rattle issue as well. But I rarely if ever would shake my phone like that.
At this point I am just grateful that I got my phone, let alone got my phone earlier than projected. There are a lot of people that would love to hear the rattling of the autofocus on their N4.

Power Management
Ok... I think this is correct,
The audio chip like most other IC's are entering power saving mode milliseconds after you hear any audio so the small click is the powering up and down of the audio hardware... Many phones do this and many people don't notice it.
It's quite normal but if you have very good hearing it might bother some more then others.

It seems like a touch sound issue.
Make sure you've got touch sounds turned off by going:
Settings > Sound > Touch Sounds (disable the checkbox)

This is normal, this is a mechanical component inside the phone that make the springy vibration when you enable vibrate on touch etc. So when you tab it, it make that springy sound, perfectly normal.
