Problems with streak on froyo 2.2 - slow - Streak 5 General

Hi Gents
after picking up a Streak (UK version) - prev. person had installed froyo 2.2 (DJ_STEVE build) on it, lots of problems, and i've wondered how i can revert back to 1.6 as i can't live with the issues.. In general:
- touchscreen extremely laggy and stops input.. i.e. (freezes). I don't know if you attribute this to general lag.. but if it were lag, it would eventually allow input.. but what i find is 30-45 seconds before it responds again to click something.
- A reboot fixes this, but it re-appears.
- A general factory reset fixes it, but it re-appears.
- When i do a factory reset, when it resets, i have a choice of ADW.Launcher, Dell Streak launcher or Launcher Pro. Choosing any of these doesn't mitigate the laggy behavior or stop it.. although it is less frequent (the lock ups) in LauncherPro then the other 2.
I can't really go 15-20 minutes without it freezing the browser or any input, so i ask if there is a way to go back to 1.6. I can live with many bugs, but not one that stops me using a major portion of the device ..which is really input.

Google sesrch for upgrading downgrading 4399 and you should find it. You have to use fastboot which means yoy have to install a driver on your pc but besides that its easy. Then you can follow the norrmal upgrade path to the official 2.2

00.008.06 liquidE rom issue

Hi guys, i have a weird issue with this rom, i've been using it for like 4 days now, but lately i've been getting random reboots, this happens when the phone freezes up out random, it shows the battery icons with a ? mark and the phone responds to volumen up and down commands but thats it, also the screen and the capacitive softkeys stop working when this happens to, and when i press the power button it restarts its self, i've alrdy wipe data+dalvik+cache and nothing the device keeps on behaving the same, im about to just re-flash the rom, from my acer s200 experience, acer phones tend to have random isolated issues to specific devices/hardware, and mostly these issues are hard to reproduce, anyways i might re-flash the oem rom today, il see if this fixes it or if its just another issue that the rom it self has, as its a beta release, any suggestions will be great appreciated.
edit: i have reflashed 10000 times it still does it, my last option would be to flash 1.6 but meh i like 2.1 better =]
hic, can u help me up rom acer liquid from 1.6 to 2.1 thanks .
It's most likely the ROM, but, still could be the kernel. I have been using the rooted kernel only, nothing else. Actually some lowmemkiller settings. I was not able to test if removing the threshold settings (I forget what the other thing was too) before I sold Liquid.
I can report bad use of the digital compass, when in navigation with google maps or (f.e.) copilot 8.
Gps receiver says that i'm going forward, but digital compass says that i'm going backward.
Stupid compass
Yes, I have the same issue in Navigation. The compass is fine in Google maps app though

How to solve phone unresponsiveness after using GPS??

Hello everyone, i've my SG3 flashed with Gsam101 ultraclean SPF rom + modified JPB kernel + lagfix v2!
I've solved the GPS slowness using the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10385614&postcount=43
The main issue is that opening googlemaps already slows down the phone (cause it's kind of heavy application!) then with this software glitch it becomes even more slow... it's a sort of 3310 with froyo on it! :-(
I've kind of few applications installed btw and NO services started at boot, so i would exclude the cause of 3rd party applications causing this...
Did you actually fix the unresponsiveness? Or just the GPS fix time? I've managed to get the GPS fix to work, but the phone becomes very slow, even after the GPS is turned off.
exactly my problem, the gps fix with the method posted before is really fast!!
The phone becomes slow though, as you said :S
Ok I think I've found the problem. The stock GPS I5800XXJPF actually works really well. With a fresh install, my GPS would lock on for the first time within 20 seconds or so, and the phone would work fine. However, after reinstalling all my stuff with Titanium, the GPS went back to being very slow, and the phone would remain slow (laggy) until reboot.
So... I checked my GPS settings and I had 'Use sensor aiding' checked. Unchecked it, reboot and voila! No GPS problems. I still use GPS toolkit to make the first fix, but that is the only thing different from stock. GPS works great now and phone runs at full speed.
Does this make a difference for you guys?
You're my new hero...this "fix" works and gpsfix it's still fast and stable!

disabled "sensor aiding" on Galaxy-3 i5800
Hi,
I was planning to make a new thread on the lagging behaviour of the galaxy-3 i-5800 when i found this thread.
problem I had for long time :
My phone went to 100% cpu after "closing/ending" an application which uses gps, like g-maps,copilot,lattitide etc. It took me many weeks to pinpoint the problem, when it happened. Reason it took so long is that i found by accident, the 'remedy' , which is switching off the display and switch it on again. This interfered with the root-cause analysis , because when the screen went out automatically, the problem dissappeared :-S
"Finally" yesterday i found the root-cause of the lag.
It was "sensor aiding" in location and security setting. After disabling this setting, the lag problem is gone.
In dutch the setting is called "sensorondersteuning", which is located under "locatie en beveiliging".
So I want to spread the word to many galaxy-3 owners (i-5800/5801) to NOT use this feature (even not in the lates JPM firmware).
From yesterday, I'm a happy galaxy-3 owner again
enjoy it.
its JPF not SPF and its kinda stock like, many stock apps are removed, social hub etc. I dont think any are added, besides superuser since i suspect its prerooted

[Q] HTC official Rom update (O2 users)

Probably a bit of a long shot this but is there anyone out there using an O2 branded HTC HD Mini, has just upgraded to the official ROM version 1.38.206.4 and trying to run Copilot Live8 version 8.2.0.407 with European maps?
Since the ROM upgrade, 2 issues have surfaced. The first is that screen orientation refuses to use the device settings and defaults to portrait.
The second occurs when navigating and a 'clear turn' situation arises. Just before the turn, up pops this little horror - *General alloc error. There is not enough memory to run CoPilot. CoPilot will will now quit*. It quits and when you re-start, it opens in 'Safety view'! Disable 'Clear turn' and it continues navigating with no errors.
I've tried a hard reset and clean install of CoPilot (on the advice of HTC) which made no difference whatsoever despite being back to factory settings and bare bones.
I've tried just about everything and I am in dialogue with both companies and getting nowhere fast. Can anyone give me some idea as to what might possibly be going on here?
Many thanks,
Andy.
the updat worked fine for me
you could try taking the phone back were u got it from and just say it messed up on its phone

System Update 1.84.708.1 CL322105

First things first, HTC Desire Z, I am in New Zealand on the Vodafone network in case that makes a difference and running bog standard Sense UI with no mods or ROMs or anything like that.
I have done a search and can't find anything similar anywhere except some asian sites, and I suspect (but hope it isn't) because the phone came from Hong Kong.
Ok, last night an update came through to my phone with the above code, I have lodged a query with HTC but no response as yet and figured you guys may have a better/quicker fix.
Essentially since the update came through the phone has been very slow and glitchy... stalls on background screen before loading app buttons, widgets, menus everything.
So I guess I want to know A: is this a legit update or is it some sort of hack?
and B: can I revert somehow to the last/correct version or am I going to need to install a ROM and start from scratch?
I appreciate your help and if you need any more info just ask.
cheers
Tis legit. HTC seem to be rolling the update worldwide, but very slowly. My dad got it in the UK last Tuesday, I'm still waiting.
His phone seems to be ok. If you're still having problems, try hard reset?
Cheers dude, ok at least that is one less thing to worry about
might give a hard reset a go
I've heard that once you do a update its always good to do a factory reset its like a pc you'll need to give it a good cleaning some time LOL try that

Why does the Desire-Z keep getting updates and the G2 has only gotten 1 update?

You'll find that if its provided through a carrier, they'll handle the software updates after HTC issues them to ensure their "value added software" or "crap" is loaded on it.
Saying that, mine is a UK SIM free from HTC and I still haven't got the 1.8x.xxx.x update, I'm at 1.72
Heya, I also have the Desire Z, bought from Hong Kong, use on Vodafone, live in Wellington NZ, and also did the update this morning.
Haven't noticed my phone running any slower yet but keen to see the improvements touted though. So far just seen little UI cosmetic changes.
Be sure to go into accounts and redo your sync settings, it put stocks and weather back to real time sync on mine...turned them off straight away.
AHHHHH that could have something to do with the hanging issue. I did a hard reset and initially it seemed better but then once I had re-instated my backed up data, contacts etc, (especially after I shut off the HTC messaging app, and re-synched my google accounts for some reason) it started hanging again.
Maybe the stocks (which I have banished) is trying to sync in the background somewhere? *wanders off to see*
It is a good sign that it is working on other DZ's, main issue seems to be on keyboard open/close events... so might just be incompatiblility with an app I'm running... god I hope it isn't Handcent
Ok, update time, redone the sync settings, removed anything that has been added in the last week or so in case I just didn't notice (unlikely but ???) the hanging problem.
oefox are you using Handcent for your messaging or the standard messaging app? i have removed it and that seems to have made a slight improvement although only very slight... this is driving me mad... may have to try another hard reset tonight and rebuild the data only and start again with apps.
Fake edit: HTC got back to me "try soft reset, hard reset... sorry can't help as phone is HK build, we have passed your query to them... they will be in touch" We shall see?
Actual Edit: Also seems to be destroying battery life all of a sudden, and it seems to think it has been off the charger for 22 minutes... which is odd as it came off the car charger 5 hours ago... hmmm.. definite issues here... looks like an actual rebuild may have to happen :/
You could try an app like Watchdog Lite from the Android Market to see if there is a process gobbling up your CPU cycles? It may be the cause of what's slowing the phone and draining your battery...
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Thanks for that, I have installed Watchdog Lite, removed a couple of apps that I thought might be a little bit problematic and I will stop playing with it for the day and how the battery reacts to "normal" use i.e. not constantly setting/resetting loading/unloading/deleting/syncing/unsyncing stuff lol... still seems to hang and whatnot though but we shall see.
If that doesn't help I will try a fresh hard reset and build from scratch (not from backup) and see if that helps :/
Call me uninspiring but I really like the default email and messaging. I have found after playing with it for a couple of days now that it will sometimes hang for a couple of seconds when returning to the home screen, shows the background but no icons for a few seconds.
On the plus side my wifi seems to have improved stability somewhat.

I did upgrade the firmware, but I didnt notice any improvement.
I mean everything is just fine
I thought that it would upgrade it to Gingerbread and Sense 3.0
I would be nice to have that version
Cheers
I have an HK Desire Z as well, and have experienced the exact same problem since the system update. I have not tried a hard reset because I'd rather not spend the time, but the home screen "blank and reload" issue is quite aggravating. I may have no other choice but to reset.
I will try waiting a couple days to see if somebody posts an easier fix.
Aha if you have a G2 wait till T-mobile gives it to us... we will be getting gingerbread
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Ok, good to see it isn't just me, it is definitely an issue and the reset doesn't seem to help much so if you havn't already done it don't bother localhost21. however I think I have found the main culprit and it seems to be the Google Maps updates that are causing the majority of the hanging etc.
if you remove the updates, i.e. go back to the standard version that came on the phone and it seems to make quite a difference so try that.
Unfortunately as i use the navigation function on maps quite a bit I kinda need to keep it so a bit of a catch 22. If you don't really need it though that should solve most of the problem... if any other fixes arrive let me know
Hopefully vodafone NZ give us the Gingerbread upgrade, or google brings navigation out of beta because it really is very good.
Edit: Still hangs, I have become a habitual killer of tasks which is nearly as annoying as the hanging, esp. if you have to open the task manager after it has hung, and it seems the processes causing the hang won't stay dead (auto-killed etc) *goes hunting for basic, stable, rom*
I encountered a new problem in that my notification sounds seem to randomly choose what to play when I recieve sms/calls so I did a hard reset but I still have that issue.
It also still hangs on the home screen if the k/b is open so hard reset doesn't fix this problem so I want to try a new rom
Has anyone done a root/flash yet with a HK Z?
I have a HTC Desire Z on the 2Degrees Network. I'm running Android version 2.2.1 Build numner is 1.84.708.1 CL322105 can I get an upgrade? Vheers.

What do you mean? I have HK DZ.
I rooted it. But I had to downgrade it to ROM 1.34.xx.
As I understand, there is no way atm to root from ROM 1.84.xx
