I just flashed FR007 coming from R012 after wiping data, cache and dalvik cache. I then used titanium backup to restore Restore all missing apps + all system data and everything seems to be working great.
I did a nandroid backup of my new FR007 installation and noticed that the backup size was 1/6th of the size compared to the R012 nandroid backup I did previously. Below is the comparison and file names included in each backup.
R012 nandroid backup - 330mb and contains:
boot.img, cache.img, data.img, nandroid.md5, recovery.img, system.img
FR007 nandroid backup - 56.5mb and contains:
boot.img, recovery.img, system.img
Any idea why the 2 backups are so different in size and file contents? Do you think there is a problem with the FR007 backup?
This is totally weird, ran another nandroid backup and it was 362mb and it included all of the correct files this time. Perhaps I had rebooted the phone before the nandroid file transfer to the card had completed the first time around.

So, if I have a ROM (CMYLXGO's Stock Desire) w/ 425 MB system partition and I back it up with CWM , then install another ROM with 150MB system partition (installing the 150MB partition prior to install of course), do I need to repartition back to the 425MB prior to restoring the 425MB partitioned backup?
Common sense would tell me yes, BUT, I figured I would ask just in case I am wrong!

Yes, you definitely need to re-partition.
Thank you - thats just what I needed to know!

glad I could help....
What will be the problem if i dont perform repartition?
I had been wondering if a nandroid backup would restore old partition sizes, since it backs up everything, but yeah i guess it makes sense that it can't change the size of the recovery partition, since that's what cwm is running from at the time of backup/restore. But does nandroid restore system and cache partition sizes?

No, the restore just loads the partition contents into the partition, it doesn't adjust the sizes, or recreate them,, just loads the backed up contents into it.
Using the newest CWM recovery touch, I'm trying to make a backup before jumping to AOKP (hooray!) But.... My backups are tiny; about 15mb. I'm not sure how big they should be (the one I made immediately after rooting was 880mb) but I'm certain this is too small. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
If you've used an older version of CWM, I'm sure you're used to ~1GB backups. In 6.0 and above, backups are handled differently. A good portion of backups are put into these "blob" files and then a smaller backup is made for each specific backup. The theory is that if you have multiple backups, they can pull data from the blob files instead of duplicating things that haven't changed. Whatever you do, DO NOT delete these blob files, doing so will corrupt your backup.

Thank you! I was so confused by this. So if I want to transfer my backup to my laptop HDD, I now need to copy the entire Clockworkmod folder? (and this will have all of the files necessary for a full backup?)

Unfortunately yes, the new blobs system means it will take a longer time to make a copy of your backup, it's horrible over Wi-Fi. I just didn't bother with it and went with TWRP instead.
Let's assume you want to do a clean restore of an older backup. Nandroid backups will not backup /sdcard data, so what if you want a clean sdcard aswell? Just always leave it as it is?
Hi,
Suppose I do a nandroid backup of my ROM, I want to know if files such as music, photos and such are backed up too. If I delete them/format the internal storage, and restore the nandroid (of course I'll backup the nandroid backup on the computer first ), will those files be restored too?

Nope. Check how big your Nandroid backup is..
It backs up your system settings + rom + data (messages, call logs, etc). Not your /sdcard.
This is probably a noob question but when my phone was rooted some time ago and I made a nandroid backup with TWRP, it was usually just 1 big file. Now it's 1 folder and different md5, win001, win files and a log file. Is this normal? And how do I restore my rom like this?

It's ok. Just put the entire file on to ur SD card. Then boot into recovery and select BACKUP AND RESTORE and then select RESTORE!
That should do the trick!
