On different ROMS, some say Android version 2.2 and others say 2.2.1. Is there a significant difference between the 2?
Yeah.... ".1", lol
just kidding
I have no idea... Im sure its some kind of small update or some thing... 2.2 is 2.2, even if there is a ".1" after it...

2.2.1 has updated Twitter application with new authentication support, improved Exchange ActiveSync functionality, a new Gmail user interface, and updated Amazon, News and Weather widgets.

if it was significant, they wouldn't of made the version number bump so small.

I'm not quite sure what the .1 means at the end of it, on our devices if we flashed a leaked versions it shows it. When the official froyo comes out will it be 2.2 or 2.2.1?
It is the latest version. If they release froyo it will be 2.2.1. Not sure what the differences in 2.2 and 2.2.1 are though. Haven't taken the time to look.

I cannot post in the development section yet, but there is a new leak out for the new motoblur 3.0.0 software that you can flash over any stock rom. Check out my youtube video for details.

Enjoy!
Eh, I'll personally pass. The 2.-whatever Blur royally sucks. I really doubt 3.0 will be a vast improvement. However, none the less, it's pretty niffy to be able to update for those that like blur.

Yeah there isn't much different at all except for the launcher. The blur apps are just more stable, and the system seems to be smoother with the blur apps up.
Would the upgrade be worth it for stock users who sometimes run into problems with the phone refusing to wake up when the power button is pressed?
I would say so, unless it is a hardware issue. It definitely won't hurt to try.

I highly doubt it, the EVO dosent have the space to fit 3.0 and still have room for apps.
I don't care I have mikg v1.03 and it has enough 3.0 on it for me also I hear he is coming out with a new ROM with more 3.0 or something like that.

I agree with out adding a partition to the sdcard there is very little space left
from my phone duh
I agree, I'm running MikG, it runs great and gave me great battery life...with stock kernel...
EVO 4g w/MikG 1.03
MikG
Also Running MikG with stock Kernal and the Sense 3.0 is pretty solid. Lock Screen slide to open apps would be nice, but otherwise its really complete and my favorite rom out there currently.

Kinda scary sending OTA with the internal space limitations, unless something has been figured out. Probably just wishful thinking for those who are not here...loving the MikG myself.

One thing you have to keep in mind, is that it's not sense 3.0 that was taking up all the space, but instead it was the 3d apks, such as the fusions which alone was taking up 49mb, yes granted be those apks play a big role in the new sense, but would the be required for our phone, probably not.

That fusion.apk affects the lock screen, the 3D clock widget, just to name a few so I would say its pretty important.

If you lose the weather animations you pick up 60mb. I would gladly do without them to have most of the rest of sense 3.0
The lock screen and widget would still function
full sense 3.0 i think is for updated hardware only

Highly unlikely.
I doubt it, you need at least sense 2.1 for those 3.0 elements to work. EVO is still on sense 1.0.
Lmao.
I love these forums man.
Everybody (for some silly reason) complains about how the newest OTA only has Sense 1.0 and how "disappointed" they are with the update.
Then we get information that MIGHT mean some kind of sense update and everyone just refers to an aftermarket ROM...
Silly.
i think there will be no more updates for the evo.

the update sucks in comparison to the current aosp 2.3.4 builds we already had.
i'm still puzzled as to why it was only sense 1.0 when the shift for a full 2.1 leak .

Apparently some people have 2.4 on their Nexus Ss.. Do you guys call bs or actual new release in the works? I personally think it looks pretty legit but wanted some input from you guys.
I think it's a fake. The OP had 1 post and the next Android update is supposed to be v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
EDIT: I saw the reply's pictures, now it looks real.
I'll forward the link to Dreams and see what he thinks of it.

Yes it does, just not in the public eye.
It's months old, it became 2.3.3
there was a story months ago about 2.4 coming to the nexus S this isn't a big shock. everyoen thought it was ICS but it was just an incremental update to Gingerbread
Can't you edit a couple files to say you have whatever version you want

2.4 has bent mentioned a million times, originally ICS was 2.4, then 4.0 now back to 2.4.. then they said 2.4 was a GB update for Dual Core phones.. but one thing I am certain of is, that guy doesnt have it on his phone...
Of course he does, it's an old gingerbread build, nothing special and not worth faking. ICS has never been 2.4
On the Nexus One 2.4 was GRI05, and 2.3.3 was GRI40.
to the android news sites it has.. just google android 2.4...

Ok guys I think I have figured out why the Samsung Vibrant has been getting no support in terms of updates from anyone including samfirmware.com! If you think about it all other Galaxy S phones and the Galaxy S 4G (Or Vibrant 4G) has had lots of leaks and even ETA's for updates except our Vibrant. Why? Simple. T-Mobile is doing what they tried to do for Froyo! There going to bring updates and bugfixes to the Vibrant 4G first alongside the other Galaxy S devices and use it as another justification to purchase that phone, then a couple months later or perhaps not at all the OG Vibrant might get some bug fixes and a Gingerbread update!
Please reply what you guys think on either this post or your theory on why the last leak we got was KB5 back in Feburary.

I don't know but i read something today that said google stepped in and now is sending updates to all phones on ATT which means folks who had older phones will get upgraded as well.. here is the article - http://socialbarrel.com/google-delivers-android-2-3-gingerbread-to-att-devices/11881/
I hope they do the same for T-mobile and help customers like us with samsung (vibrant and behold ) users alike..

+1 to hummingbird optimization.
TW4/4.5 also runs smoother on GB than Froyo (4/4.5 is a HUGE plus over the stock TW)
Some apps also required 2.3 (such as Netflix before they updated it to allow froyo)
CRT
probably more than I can't think off my head right now
edit: heres a pretty good comprehensive list and description
http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.3-highlights.html
we will reap the full benefits once we get an official 2.3 release (accompanied with source) so our talented devs optimize 2.3 for us.

I was tired of my vibrants jumpy inconsistent gps so got myself a Galaxy S 4G and installed the latest KG4 GB. The stock GB runs smoother than Cynogenmod for vibrant.
GB may be a minor upgrade but its a major upgrade for us due to hummingbird optimizations. Also the battery life is MUCH better on GB.
TouchWiz speed only matters for those who choose to use it
I use GO Launcher EX and love it.
Free, fast, beautiful, and more features than TW.
