I've been a Wildpuzzle user for a while now but recently for some reason I had to switch back to the standard rom and now my phone is starting to act really weird hardware wise, so I'm able to replace it but I need to get rid of my ROOT first before I can enjoy the warranty.
Even google did not help me, how do I remove the root (so way back like you first unbox it) from my HTC Wildfire? I used the Unrevoked method on a mac.

Wish I could...but as a matter of fact another friend is also having the same difficulties and icant do anything...we are currently searching around...makes me reluctant to root my own phone
Check the forums specific to your phone. There should be a thread or something with a how-to to unroot.

I know if you root you lose your warrenty, but my question is will you still be able to get an insurance replacement? Or is that also void? If you still can get an insurance replacement I don't see a reason not to root. I know for the Fuze I would just have to reinstall the factory rom, does this work the same way on android?
Also if I root and flash a new rom onto my nexus one, will I lose all the apps i bought? I really don't want to have to buy them all again.

No, the apps you buy are synced with your google account so when you sign back in then you can redownload them.
About insurance, just give it some water damage or something and claim that. Root status or not shouldn't void it.

I see on some places that it would be a good idea to use nandriod before I root, but when I read the nandroid description it says the phone has to be alreayd rooted. So I'm assuming this would be a waste of time for now?
Is there any way to back up my messages, bookmarks, etc. before I root? If I just have to kiss them good bye I'd understand, but just trying to make sure before I do it.
on most of the things you are correct, the black bar mod, you just flash in recovery after you flash the rom.
technically you can nandroid before you root, unlocking your bootloader and rooting are two separate things. After you unlock your bootloader and flash the recovery image to it, you are not technically rooted and can use the recovery image to make a nandroid of your unrooted phone.
there are a few backup apps in the market for various things. I know there are a few sms backup apps, but am not so sure about bookmarks.

and can i upgrade the stock firmware to the jk1 without flashing it 1st to jj4? (since from what i read jj4 is full flash and jk1 is not, logically the stock firmware must be full flash also)

I'd just start using it. Get some apps installed, see what you need/want/like to do with it, and if something you need/want/like to do is prevented by not having root access, then root it.
I'd say for the majority of Android users, there really is not much need to root, since Android lets you do so much right out of the box, unlike the competition that requires "jailbreaking" (God I hate that term) just to do simple **** like customizing.
Same goes with firmware. Unless you really enjoy the process of flashing and all that's associated with it, there's not always a clear need to do so. The only time I recommend somebody flash custom/leaked firmware for more than the fun-factor is if there's a problem in the current firmware that can only be fixed by flashing.
That said, this is XDA, which is all about custom ROMs and rooting and extracting more from a device than what the manufacturer shipped it with. Have at it.

rooting on the Galaxy Tab is extremely simple:
1) Open the Market
2) Install and run 'z4root'
3) Hit the 'root' button' and wait
That's it.
Once you're done with that, one of the first things I'd suggest is to get AdFree installed and updated. It'll quite successfully block all those annoying ads.
i know about z4root, what i need to know is what i should do before rooting, like backing up the stock OS or data or app or anything like that, so i wouldnt regret having rooted my tab in case i flashed it with newest firmware like jk1
Rooting doesn't prevent flashing, or do any harm by itself, and when you flash, you wipe/reset the root.

If you have to return your tab for any reason just reflash stock rom from whatever cell provider you got it from and the root is gone thus no breaking of the warranty
Yep, I rooted with z4root the other day. Was a piece of cake, although 1st attempt required a restart before it got going. 1st thing to install after that is Adblock.

Oh yeah, after that I installed titanium backup to get rid of the crappy gallery and replace it with the modded gallery 3rd form hi res zooming.

I want to root my HTC Legend (Yes, I know there are 1000 post about this on the forum, but please, keep reading because I couldn't find a solution for what I exactly want...)
I have a HTC Legend with the original ROM that Vodafone installs in it. I'm running Froyo 2.2 and my kernel version is 2.6.32.17-g732a780. The Boot-loader version I'm using is HBOOT-1.00.0000.
As I stated before, I want to either root or soft root my phone. For some reason that I still can't understand, it looks like The Legend is more difficult to root than other HTC models... The point of rooting my phone is to be able to make a full backup using Titanium Backup Tool BEFORE making any changes to my existing room (Yes, I want to change the ROM). I've been reading a lot of post where in order to change the ROM I have to first downgrade the phone to Android 1.3 to be able to root it but, What about if I want to make a full backup BEFORE the downgrade? Is there a way to create a full backup with no root permissions? Titanium Backup only works if the phone is rooted...
If I can create a full backup of my phone the way it is right now, I don't mind to downgrade in order to root it and flash it... but I don't want to experiment not having a full backup stored in a safe place...
So far, I've tried Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta 5 with no luck on both: root and soft root. I get the error message: "Failed! No Fu Goo"
I'd really appreciate any help on this matter either by solving the problem or by offering a different approach for what I want.

What you need is a tool called rvisionary from modaco. With this tool you can achive temp root aka soft root. And then back up with titanium backup. Everything you need to know and the tools requiered can be found here. You have to follow instructions for Already OTA updated with HBOOT 1.01, if you want to root it.

So i know its weak but I have a mac. I got this phone when it first came out and used motochopper to get root access (did not install a custom recovery(. After the firmware update (i think thats what happend( i lost root permissions. I cant find a pc to be able to use odin and have never been able to get root access back or do anything really. Ive done hard resets to see if that could help. it didnt.
I have a dead pixel on my screen now and want to return it to sprint for a new one... please help me out. Ive been searching the web for months now without appealing to the masses!

If you have a dead pixel, just take it back to sprint and worst case they will charge you $35 to warrenty replace it, if you don't have there TEP (total equipment protection) for $8 a month, or more with these phones.
I have never rooted from a MAC so have little advice there. Download what you need to a flash drive and find a buddy with a PC to use for a few.
Hello folks. Unsure weather or not i post this in the correct place. So i rooted my SM-N9005 the other day just because well i"had" to. Ofcourse the next day the 4.4 update got released and i couldn't upgrade since my by now unfriendly phone told me i had tampered with it. I tried to restore it without really knowing what the hell i did and feeling a bit stupid for not getting it. I managed to remove root but it still says it's tampered with. Reckon i triggered the flash counter somehow. I could really use your help removing root and get my little phone back to "original" shape. Talk to me like a 3 year old since i apparently couldn't figure it out on my own. Cheers!
(And yes I have been reading so much about this my head spins now. I tried different ways to recover but i cant get it to work. I intentionally left out all the different apps i used here from the forum since that will probably confuse you guys aswell.)
how did you root?
download the kitkat firmware from sammobile then flash it using odin (so you don't need to upgrade via ota) then re-root

Ok, it started when i tried to root it by following an online gtuide. However it didnt work so I tried another one and "semi-bricked" it. Using odin. I tried readiing up on it as much as i could but the more i read the more different ways i found. Long story short, i rooted it. It worked fine. But removing root didnt seem to do the trick. I would just like to return it to stock without ruining anything. And be able to upgrade OTA if possible.I love fiddling with these things but since i pay so much for this damn phone I rather not do anything more that can destroy warranty etc. As i understood it rooting it wouldnt leave a trace and should be easy to undo. Now I understand that wasnt the case. I know I am the one to blame but would love if anyone could just try to explain what to do in a simple step by step way. If you need any info on what i did I can try to explain but i ended up with like 12 different webpages open with different solutions and to be honest I am not sure I can explain everything i tried...
