I recently receive my Nexus One back from HTC to fix the power button. Since I received the phone back, I rooted using Super-One-Click , and installed Rom Manager to restore my phone to the rom I was using before I sent my phone away. Everything worked as expected, and my phone was fully restored. I tried to install Trackball wake and unlock from (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715117&highlight=trackball) and this is where my problems started. I used Root Manager to install the android.policy.jar and updated the permissions. I rebooted my phone and the phone will not get passed the “X” boot screen. I booted my phone into Bootloader mode (Power + Volume Down) and was going to push a new android.policy.jar file through ADB, but I could not connect to the phone through ADB. I do not believe I ever turned Debugging Mode on while the phone was working properly. I booted my phone into recovery and was going to restore my phone through clockwork recovery only to find out my phone did not have clockwork recovery flashed, but instead it had the stock recovery loaded. I than tried to restore my phone back to a stock image through loading a signed update.zip but that did not work. I than tried to downgrade using the PASSIMG.img method found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...des_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus), but my phone currently has hboot-0.35.0017 and will not accept the PASSIMG.img. When I try to load the PASSIMG.img I get an error stating “Main version is older!”. I for some reason cannot get adb to recognize my phone, so I don’t think I can downgrade my hboot. I have been able to get fastboot to recognize my phone, but for some reason the phone will not let my flash any files via fastboot. I would really like to find a way to restore my phone to a stock image so I can start the process over from scratch. I really would like to keep my bootloader locked if at all possible as the phone is still under warranty. Any assistance anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if I left out any information that would usefully in fixing my problem. Thanks!

Current Rom Version-2.2.1 (this rom should be rooted)

Shortly, you have the ROM faulty, while not having the custom recovery installed and bootloader is still locked. What's worse, ADB daemon isn't running, since you didn't enable USB debug.
In that case, there's not much you can do. You can try to connect ADB - and remember that you can't use ADB when in bootloader, you need to let the phone start booting. You can try to connect through ADB either when the phone is in stock recovery, or when the phone is booting (unsuccessfully). If it doesn't connect - then nothing is left, either unlock the bootloader or return the phone again.
I appreciate the insight. Once the bootloader is unlocked, I will be able to flash an alternate recovery through fastboot, correct? Thanks again for the help.
Update: I went through and unlocked the bootloader, flashed clockwork recovery and restored from my backup. Everything is now working great. Thanks for your help.
I searched the forums and don't know what to do. I installed cwm through ROM manager. I was able to boot into cwm from ROM manager. I did a nandroid backup. I tried installing aokp build 4 but got an error (don't remember what it said now). When I tried to reboot it stays stuck on the Google screen. I don't know how to get back into recovery. I've tried rebooting by holding down power and the volume up and down buttons. It just goes back to the google screen. What can I do?
When you're at the bootloader, in fastboot mode, connect your n7 to the PC and execute in the command line
fastboot boot nameofyourrecovery.img
Or just use the toolkit in the sticky at dev section.

Hi,
I had the same issue on Friday. Started after i reflashed the recovery via Rom Manager,
I fixed it by doing the following.
Download and install this toolkit. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195
I managed to get the device into bootloader mode by holding the Power + Volume up and down for around 20 seconds.
Flash the Google Factory image. For me this was the only way to recover it fully. tried various other things first.
After that completes you can go through the full root and flash procedure again. The toolkit makes it all so very easy. Thanks to the developer for that.
Thanks
Ar3na
I had a similar issue after using the Nexus Root Toolkit to flash to nakasi 4.2 with CWM recovery - just got stuck on the nexus boot screen, flashing in a loop for over 15 minutes.
I ended up powering down the device, holding power for about 5-10 seconds - then QUICKLY holding both the power and volume up+down keys, it then went into the fastboot screen.
After it was there, plugged it into my PC.
Now, this should work for you - assuming you have all the fastboot/usb driver stuff installed.
I extracted the contents of nakasi-jop40c-factory-6aabb391.tgz into the same directory as the fastboot.exe provided by WugFresh with his Nexus Root Toolkit (google search or xda search for this if you dont have it, i dont think i can post links due to my low postcount) - typical filepath: C:\Program Files (x86)\WugFresh Development\data
By the files in there, I mean drilling down inside the tgz to where the image files were inside so that files like bootloader-grouper-4.13.img, image-nakasi-jop40c.zip etc were extracted into the directory and sitting alongside the fastboot.exe - NOT in a subfolder.
Once its all here, running flash-all.bat (this is provided by google in the nakasi-jop40c-factory-6aabb391.tgz) from the command line or by double clicking on it from explorer should kick off the process. After about 2-3 minutes, it was complete, and my Nexus then booted up within about 3 minutes after that.
Also worth noting, device remained unlocked, but I lost root/root binary
I am a noob at android--just putting that out there. But trying...
I just received my new nexus 7 2013. I used Wugfresh's version 1.6.6 toolkit to backup the nexus prior to unlocking it, and then the plan was to root it. Something happened in the process--can't say for certain what, but at some point the tool brought up TWRP on the nexus and a file that the tool said was supposed to be there, wasn't. The end result now is that my nexus is stuck on the bootloader. None of the buttons seem to work, other than restart bootloader. Turn off DOES turn off the nexus, but then when pressed again, goes right back to the bootloader. The recovery one flashes the screen quickly, then goes back to the bootloader. The Start option makes it so the screen shows the "Google" icon indefinitely with the unlocked lock icon. I need to note that the option to get into the bootloader (power + vol up and vol down) did not work for me—the only way I was able to go into the bootloader was the power and vol down. Currently though, pressing the power button makes the nexus go directly into the bootloader.
When plugged into computer via the usb cord, windows xp currently doesn't recognize anything is plugged in, although I do have the latest USB drivers installed.
I downloaded and ran SDK and went through the various fastboot commands from within a cmd window. The fastboot devices command does bring up a device number, so it is recognized by fastboot.
Here's where others will start to shake their heads in bewilderment...in my haste to try and get this up and working and out of the endless bootloader menu, I *could* have flashed it with the nexus 7 2012 recovery image, because when using fastboot to do so, at end says something about grouper and my device says flo (although nothing changed with the nexus—as in there are no obvious changes as still in bootloader). I am aware that the official flo factory image is not yet available, although at this point, I don’t have much confidence in that doing anything.
If I open up Wugfresh’s Toolkit, I can’t do anything with it, as it says that ADB doesn’t work or something and to enable USB debugging, which I can’t do because I’m stuck on the bootloader.
I don't know where to go from here--I don't know if the device is salvageable or if it is completely toast and I should just return it and get another one...I see that in the day since I downloaded Wugfresh’s Toolkit, he has released two more versions—not sure if the new version can do anything—haven’t tried yet. Can anyone with more knowledge than myself give me a hand or some advice? Thanks in advance.
You first need to have the bootloader unlocked before flashing any custom recovery to make a nandroid backup.

it is unlocked. I am able to use the fastboot commands to unlock and lock. it currently is unlocked.
Easiest thing to do is just flash back to stock and start over.
Grab the zip file from here. It has the stock rom, stock recovery, and stock boot that you need.
You can either run the .bat file, or issue the commands yourself:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot -w
"I used Wugfresh's version 1.6.6 toolkit to backup the nexus prior to unlocking it" which I assumed you meant you tried to make a nandroid backup before unlocking.

I will try the one click factory restore method posted by Geodude when I get home from work--at this point I have nothing to lose.
And Username invalid, sorry, no nandroid backup--by backup I meant just the basic backup of settings that are shown on Wugfresh's Toolkit.
Hopefully the one click restore will work....thank you very much.

I assumed that as doing an app and setting backup on a brand new device does not seem to make much sense.

Yeah, I see that....not sure why I did it myself actually, cuz now that you mentioned it, does seem pretty stupid--I guess that explains why I'm here asking for advice
I'm assuming that the one click restore will work. If it doesn't, I think I found a non-official flo factory image. I think (?) if I flash that to the tablet in fastboot, that will restore it, or at least get it past either the bootloader menu or past the Google icon shown at startup.

this worked--thanks much. Am much relieved to be up and running again....
Was installing factory image of Nexus 4, had unlocked oem bootloader -> all data wiped, dropped and the screen cracked :'(. Currently USB debugging is not enabled and the screen's unresponsive to touch. Any hope to at least start adb or flash another ROM? Would OTG help in anyway?
If you are able to boot into the bootloader you should be able to flash twrp. After that you can "fastboot reboot recovery". You should then have access to adb.
Thanks! Let me try that out.
Can twrp be used without touch interface too? The screen is unresponsive.
If you just boot into it, I think you should be able to use adb without configuring anything else. You won't be able to use twrp tho. But you might be able to flash a ROM using adb sideload. I don't really know anything about that tho, so you would have to research that yourself.
do not install TWRP try old ass CLOCKWORKMOD recovery this is controlled by Volume keys and power button
Uninstalled magisk and the screen is black, only vibrates when pressing power button or the right side of the screen. I don't even know how to turn off the phone. I was able to do it because the warning of the bootloader being unlocked appears. How I can flash stock rom? abd won't recognize the phone.
I saw https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/tool-6t-msmdownloadtool-v4-0-oos-9-0-5-t3867448 this while searching but I'm scared since it locks the bootloader after.
Thank you

Can you get into fastboot? Hold down both volume buttons together and see if you can force your device into fastboot mode. Then from there, get the TWRP img file and use fastboot to boot the image, then flash the stock OOS rom, either from TWRP install option or with adb sideload of you're comfortable doing that.

I can, could you link me to a tutorial how to boot the image? I got it already, but unsure of how to proceed. Many thanks!
edit: now when I connect it to the PC it stays on the warning that the boot loader is unlocked
Now I was able to start TWRP but I still don't know how to send the file to the phone;
ADB recognizes the phone when TWRP is running
I think it's solved, thanks a bunch!
