You Need WI-FI At Home(ROUTER) NO EXPENSIVE DATA COSTS
This sounds cool! Too Bad it requires at least 250 kbs stream. Since I'm in the US and the universal does not support edge, that leaves only wfi. But I could still use it at home (garage) and at work or other wifi locations. I see it runs in windows media player, does it play in full screen mode or allow use of other players?
Try www.orb.com. tottaly excelent
i second that orb is outstanding
Yep Orb is great, not just for streaming to your XDA. The screen saver is pretty cool for streaming photos to your work PC for instance.
Although I've had no success so far getting my leadtek tv card working over it.
I have downloaded orb, but whatever I try to play from my pc (mp3 audio or video wmv, mpg) i get an error on the universal windows media player that "the player does not support the format you are trying to play"
What players on your universal do you guys use?
Thanks
Steve
If so can you change channels. I can watch the last channel I was watching in media center but it doesn't change to the channel I select in the program guide on orb? Is there another software like orb that will stream the live tv to my 8525 or do I need to wait till I have the cash for a sling box.
Personally I use slingbox, and its frekin awesome! I have it coneected to my tivo, and slingplayer mobile allows for full control of your tivo with my 8525. I havent used orb, but when I was in your position researching it seemed like the video quality is about the same. AV quality is VERY good with wifi, good with 3g, and choppy with edge.

Although i currently don't have it set up at the moment due to rom upgrades, i did have this working previously and it changed channels no problem.
As long as you have the channels setup correctly in orb configuration this will work as you want.
Slingbox does a better job so far.
I just started with Orb streaming my media and pictures off of my server, but I haven't set up TV yet because I have a weak link in my cable so that when I split it to hook up my TV Tuner card, I lose about half my speed with my cable modem. Video from the PC has come across great with 2.0, I hope the same with the TV.
yes, it rocks
i've had it working for a few months. I use xp- not media center addition- just plain xp.
ati all in wonder radeon 8500dv
orb 2.0_latest release
I use the file browser to get gps maps, etc down to my 8525. play mp3, video, even look at my webcam, and watch tv (or listen to it while I'm driving). works on 3g and edge, even with an old pentium3 pc!
never tried a $lingbox, but my orb pc is free. sits there with no monitor, no keyboard, no mouse, just cable tv and lan.
Hey everyone
I've been trying to get BBC iPlayer to work on my topaz today with little luck so far.
Initially I tried to access it through the browser and it tells me "Your phone is not supported" When I used my PC to get a list of supported devices, they say the Touch HD is supported, so I don't see why it shouldn't work on my Topaz.
So I followed some advice I found at a forum (this one), and set a Custom User-Agent to sgh-i900. Suddenly the website works and looks great, but when I try to play something, it opens the stream in HTC streaming media, and gives me a black screen within the player, shows the length of the show correctly and the track bar at sitting at the end of the program. When I pull the track bar back (rewind) it just shows a loading screen indefinitely. I get exactly the same result if I try to open it in CorePlayer 1.3
I notice somebody else with a Touch HD (in the link above) had the same problem.
So I try something else. I download myPlayer (found a link on these forums). The app works great (thankyou author!!!) But when it comes to opening the streams in CorePlayer, I get exactly the same problem.
I can download the streams using myPlayer and then watch them, but I really want to be able to stream catch up tv as well.
Do you think it's some sort of Codec I need?
The other thing. I can watch live tv off BBC, that works well. I just can't stream catch up TV.
Has anybody else with a Topaz or a Blackstone (with a standard ROM) been able to get this working?
Do you guys have any suggestions of what else I could try?
Thanks for your time.
Are you using myPlayer via 3G or wifi?
To stream the catch-up content via wifi you shouldn't need any additional codecs for CorePlayer. Your mobile should have the same connectivity as any PC on your network.
You could try loading this stream via a PC (using the VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html) to test the connectivity:
rtsp://3gp-acl.bbc.co.uk:554/3gpclip/iPlayer/wifi_5381424370952762694.3gp
If you are streaming via HSDPA/3G it may be your phone provider blocking the RTSP port (554).

Well I got to the bottom of it. Thanks for your reply FryWalker.
Interestingly it just doesn't work over my office wifi network. BBC iPlayer works perfectly on my laptop when connected to my office network (via lan cable) but not on my Topaz over wifi.
It worked on my Topaz when I got home (over wifi), so I can only guess that my office wireless router is blocking the port.
Any other theories? Either way... I'm not that fussed, so long as I can watch iPlayer from bed, or whenever I'm out and can find a decent internet connection.

Yes, it is likely that your office network / firewall is blocking access to port 554. You can try streaming through the myPlayer server as an alternative by selecting "Stream via myPlayer media server" on the Stream Settings screen - this will attempt to connect via a range of different ports.
Another thing you could do is download the iPlayer content for "offline" viewing via the episode info panel.

Hi fellow xda members!
I just recently went to my uncles house and he had a xbmc xbox running. He showed me how he could stream music from his atrix to the xbmc and have it play.
However, when i tried to do it on my mytouch 4g it could not find the xbmc server. It could see his NAS drives but no way to output to his xbmc. It could only play on my phone. Anyone know why?
I tried the twonky screen share, 2player, and upnplay.

There are a few options.
- Google to find XBMC variants that includes HW acceleration
- Install a Plex server and app combo. It will transcode your 720p videos on the fly but the interface is very nice and supports many back end OSes
Be aware that the shutter via WiFi may be simply that the video bitrate is higher than your WiFi supports (consistently)
My personal set up to get reliable playback well away from my router is not for the faint of heart but I will mention it none the less.
Backed server:
- Ubuntu with a Web server
- Python script that creates Web pages of my video collection with metadata from MythVideo database
N10 apps:
- MX Player
- Boat Browser
N10 HW:
- micro USB OTG cable
- USB Gigabit Ethernet adapter
- Gigabit Powerline adapters connecting router to backroom
I did warn you it was extreme but it works without issues day in and day out even with 1080p content.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using XDA Premium HD app
This is the best explanation i have had, thankyou very much
