Hey i just upgraded to this version since the upgraded AIM protocols made previous versions nonfunctional. The enhancements are great and all but the problems overtake its once greatness. It's tons of times slower and even locks up my wizard. The notifications are disfunctional and you cant have spaces in your screenname anymore -__- . I was just wondering if anyone else had these problems. I emailed Shapeservices and hopefully they will/have a solution. IM+ is a great program and it hurts me to see it like this =/
I noticed a major slowdown the first time I launched the new version. Every other launch since then has still been slower than previous versions, but it's definitely usable.
Probably something to do with their "full status" support (e.g. you can set a custom away message with AIM now and away messages are automatically updated and shown for your people in your buddy list).
I've been having a problem on mine where it won't let me go to the Desktop while the program is running. I can open other programs and have it show up on top of IM+, but I can't view the Desktop.
I'm using 4.23 and it works perfect.
No problems with it, and the notifications work fine.
Maybe try 4.23 out?
***EDIT***
This has been edited due to discussion of warez. This is not the board for that. If you want to give instructions then do it via PM, NOT ON THE PUBLIC BOARD.

Are you recieving IMs in AIM? Because AIM/ICQ supposedly changed their protocol which led to people not recieving IMs, including me. This issue is fixed in 4.28. If you recieve IMs in 4.23, then can you send me a cab? thanks.
yea same here i used it once i didn't get a chance to play with it some more just yet but i noticed a major slow down in my first time use also along with it locking up after i started using it for a while and i had to soft reset my phone
i upgraded from the 4.23 because i was no longer able to recieve messages but i could send them
i had the same problem with 4.23 but 4.28 works fine
4.28 is horrible.. the most annoying thing is that if i am typing an IM and an IM comes in that it moves the cursor back to the first postion of the box. so if was trying to type "The lazy brown fox" and an IM comes in then it might look something like this "own fox The lazy br"
4.29 is out now.. that problem is fixed

it doesnt move the cursor back.. or at least i havent noticed it.
thanks for the update, i will test it out today!
no problem.
all versions of im+ are slow when using them to Y!M handles...especially if your friends has above 200 contacts..over 2 minutes of preload time.agile messenger is better!..sorry for the offtopic
I still get the cursor jump with 4.29
IM+ 4.30
Terrible, Cursor still jumps, phone now locks up when switching from portrait mode to landscape mode when you goto your contact list. Random lock ups. Will turn your phone to standby and come back to check IMs and your phone wont come back from standby, ie: has locked up, and you need to soft reset.Switching from 1 IM to another is also another hassle in itself. You need to touch the screen and select from the menu to see the other IM boxes, as said before, agile doesnt have any of the these problems and pressing the down button in the message window box then left or right fast switches from different conversations. Problem is, 1. Agile isn't free anymore, 2. Agile sends your Login and passwords through their website, many accounts have been hacked and important information stolen because of this. Sorry to jump off topic, just throwing in my 2 cents for the newest version of IM+.
BTW im running Windows Mobile Black 1.2 on my Cingular 8525 (Cingular Edition)
can u change the ugly icons on this program?
i hate how everything is neon green looking.
thanks
i used 4.30 but i have over 200 contacts and the phone freezes and have to remove the battery. i've installed im+ 1.38 and it works fine
Hi Guys, just thought id post my thoughts on the Leo.
Ive been using mine now for over 2 weeks having come from an N95(and several failed attempts at finding something I liked inbetween including various iphones, N97 etc etc) so to the thoughts.,
The screen for me was a bit tricky as many have said before, I have huge hands, but decided to persevere.
Has to be said that after about a 10 day period typing messages etc became much easier, after 2 weeks it was brilliant, but then came the eureka moment, which it has to be said was'nt good for me, but telling all the same.
After flashing the ROM, the typing experience became similar to a fair proportion of others on here, infuriating!
Now thinking logicly about it, I decided it couldn't be the screen as was fine before, only thing changed was the ROM, so was software, tried a screen align, hmmm, worse still, did it again, slightly better, but still no cigar, went and checked settings and set to how id had it before, no vibrate(seems to fubar typing), keyboard click on, screen click on, correct as you type on, complete words in both XT9 and ABC both on and did screen align again, now zoila, its better than before(after another screen align) no more false inputs although xt9 has to learn my vocab again(annoying) but it really is a revelation.
Now the only thing annoying me is the long sms list issue (although partialy sorted by selecting all messages and going in through WM)
Can I just add, absolutely epic site guys and thanks to all those that spend there own time making the WM experience better for all!!
Noooo! you've got it all wrong. You're supposed to try typing for 5 minutes, throw your toys out the pram and go buy an iPhone.. *then* come on to xda developers and post a nice long rant about how poor the entire phone / windows mobile is (bonus points for expletives and spelling mistakes).
Fixing problems in an intelligent, logical manner? whatever next?!
I just got my HTC HD2 from Royal Mail. Everything seems to be working flawlessly. The screen is just gorgeous and the navigation is really smooth and snappy. The videos online really do not do it justice.
I've just got a few of questions. I heard that Opera does not support flash, is this true? and will this change in the future?
I tried using IE to open youtube but it doesn't seem to play anything. It has the flash 9 logo and that's it. How do I play videos via the web browser?
Also, when I open up IE it says that it connects using my data plan and I may get charged. Does it not work over WiFi?
I'm just uploading files onto it right now but yes, this device has had my jaw on the floor since I opened the packaging. By far the best phone I have ever owned.

Opera doesn't support flash.
Use the You Tube app already on your handset, it works perfectly.
For playing videos within your browser, download the Skyfire browser for free. I don't like the interface and therefore only use it when I have to but it supports flash and you can play videos and surf for porn on it lol.
gamma500. looks like you still need to find the return key (aka as enter key) as this is the only thing missing in your message. Or did you type it on a PC keyboard, and is the return key (aka as enter key) broken?

I don't have the youtube app, where can I find it? I got my phone from T-Mobile UK if that helps. And I thought IE did support flash?

Opera doesn't support flash and IE only has 'flashlite' which isn't suitable for playing video. You will need to download Skyfire but the You Tube app will be in your start menu - press the icon at the top left of the screen or the windows button in the middle at the bottom - then scroll through the icons.

I don't have it pre-installed, is there somewhere I can get it? It's wierd that they didn't include it. Is anybody here on T-Mobile UK who has it pre-installed?
Dont have a HD2 ...yet! But from what I have read Youtube is not included on the T-Mobile handset.
Thanks Christonabike, personally don't see the merit in ranting, seldom effective in sorting issues and htc-hd2, in an effort to be cloggy friendly have inserted a few returns just for you!

Fantastic! Disabling the vibrate response was one of the best things I could do! I can actually type for long periods of time with little errors and the XT9 and ABC is working great now, I didn't realise it could learn... so have been typing in all of my Northern Irish phrases that we use over here!
I'm happy once again, I'm really starting to love this phone; was a bit doubtful at the start and was thinking my N95 8gb looked like a good option to go back to but my faith is growing in this device by the day!
Once again to OP, thanks!
It Just gets better with time Rossimac, which only became apparent after having flashed the ROM and thereby losing two weeks of it.
just google it skyfire then download its for free......
seems to be working, but the "loading video" screen stays on top at 50% while the video plays in the background.. hmmm
Thanks for the heads up! Skyfire works like a charm, it maybe isn't as smooth as the standard browser. However the 'video tab' works really well! Finally 'kinda' flash support.
Install?
Im having problems installing the app. Once I get to the screen where they ask if I would like to install Skyfire and click install it goes back to the same screen again. Anybody else experience the same thing?
worked a treat for me.. are you downloading from the Market?.. try the old fashioned trick.. power off and on then try again!!

For Vimeo videos it does this, for youtube it plays them fine, weird.
Tried this on the BBC News website, it was supposed to show a summary of this evenings debate, what I got was a download screen that stuck at 74% while a video of Obama talking about the oil slick played behind it. Several other sites I tried it loaded the mobile version of the site which automatically assumed the browser had no flash support. Another site I tried it failed to notice the video content.
I think it is a little optimistic to call this a Beta, it shows promise but there seem to be quite a few fundamental bugs that need to be ironed out.

Anyone else notice the web browser on the leaked 2.2 Rom being sluggish when there are flash ads on the page?
Ya think
Flash does take a TON of resources. Its going to be sluggish. Same as your computer if you go to a high flash site...
turn flash off it it bothers you then
How do you disable flash then?
He's got a valid point. Flash 10.1 on Damagecontrol (eclair version) was very smooth. On 2.2 , flash flickers when you stop panning around and scrolling sometimes just downright refuses to work. My guess is that this leaked version includes an outdated version of flash... I sure hope so.
When I first flashed...
the OBNR (Official but not really) 2.2, mine was hanging. Because of a couple of other quirks, I ended up reflashing and got much better results. Now, mine flies! Pretty happy over all.
use ad free or set it to on demand.
Basically, this is either because of the browser in this version isn't really built well enough for full flash, or because this is a pre-beta of Flash 10.1 on Android. To turn off Flash, go into the browser settings (menu>more>settings) and then go to Enable Plugins and set to either "On demand or off". I leave mine on On Demand. Then, I don't have to turn it on when I want to use it. You just tap on the block where your flash content should be to turn it on. Really the best of both worlds. Also makes a great flash ad block without completely turning off flash.
Thanks for the info. Also another thing to point out, I notice that the talk to text button on the keyboard was changed to a language button for English/spanish. Anyone know how to get that button back?

There's a thread around here somewhere talking about that. Only a handful of people are having that problem. The only thing I can think of is to try a factory reset.
if I were to do a factory reset would I have 2.2 as my recovery image?
I was really excited when I rediscovered homestarrunner.com and Strongbad's hilarious e-mail section. I was trying to watch the latest one on my phone, and the flash was working very smoothly and I was super excited. But then I realized, there's nothing keeping it from dimming every 30 seconds! Now, some of these flash videos get really long, and it's annoying to have to keep tapping on the page over and over. Is there anyway to keep the backlight on when flash content is present?
Not for flash content specifically, that I know of, but KeepScreen will do it on an app by app basis (eg make your screen never turn off when browser is running).
Dolphin hd has a browser setting to Keep Screen On. I checked the stock browser but do not see a similar setting.
I think it will stay on if you play the flash content full screen. Otherwise, Extended Controls has a toggle for keeping your screen on.
Thanks for mentioning this. I have not been on that website since high-school.. love it..

try double tapping the flash content to focus the browser on it
Double tapping the content doesn't help, maybe this is from my rom (AvA) or kernel (netarchy)? I'll look into some other solutions Posted above and let you guys know. And yeah the site is awesome I just rediscovered it myself!
