Hello-first time post for me.
I have a Dell Streak.I finally on Tuesday got the official Over The Air update notification for the 2.2 Froyo. That evening over wi-fi I downloaded the update and run it using the nero back up option.
After finishing,I had 2.2 Froyo running, which I was pleased about after having 1.6 for so long.
WELL....after switching the phone off,Wednesday morning the phone will no longer switch ON,It keeps looping ON and OFF back to the Dell logo.
It will not respond to no buttons or a Master reset with the volume and power buttons.
Any help will be appreciated.
Can anyone help
I have tried everything.Connecting to computer, looking at the sim card when in my usb stick, leaving battery out overnight, charging etc etc.
I can't believe a Dell OTA update has bricked my phone.
do some searches for recovering bricked dell streak.
im pretty sure you can fix it..
you could probably reflash the basband and fix it..
Thanks for the reply, but no joy.I am a complete newbie and novice to this so I don't want to try something I think may work and do further problems to the phone and void the warranty if I have to send it back(for the second time).
Can anyone give me a link that would allow me to follow step by step instructions to recover my phone from being stuck on the Dell logo after I done the official Dell 2.2 Froyo upgrade,if a recovery procedure is available that is.
As I stated I am completely new to this and would like to learn.

I just rooted my streak as normal and now it will not boot.
When I turn it on, it just displays ''dell'' but stays there forever.
I flashed it before and it was fine but now it is stuck.
Any way I can fix this?
i am no expert, but you'll have to give a lot more information than that
16.?
2.1 ?
versions
how did you flash?
how did you root?
to "fix" your Streak, reverting back to the Update.pkg should get you back working

2.1
Build 6267
How can I flash it when there is no superboot 6267 version yet?
Basically What happened is I upgraded my streak from 1.6 to 2.1
I downloaded root explorer but it would NOT work as my streak was not rooted.
I then rooted my streak using superboot but it was for the old version 3883.
The phone did not boot after this. I then tried superboot for build 4399, same thing the streak gets stuck on the dell logo.
I then looked for build 6267 which is what I have but it does not exist.
I wanted to root my streak with the new 2.1 version but it failed and ever since I'm stuck with the dell logo.
I know I can simply reinstall 2.1 but I will have to reinstall all my apps and set my phone up again.
Is there any way I can recover or somehow go back to the build of 6267 WITHOUT losing anything or reinstalling?
The last thing I want to do is reinstall 2.1 all over again...
I just reinstalled 2.1
Works fine now only I need to put all my apps back on as well as configure/setup all the settings...
I am noob in phone flashing. but after goin thru all sources online.. I tried flashing my Streak 5.
I tried rooting with "SuperOneClick2.2", but it was not detecting phone model or so.. So I tried Superboot... after android interface drivers installation.. phone was decteced in FASTBOOT mode and message in phone showed root installed.
After that, my phone is continually flashing the buttons & showing DELL's white logo on the black background.
All procedures were followed to the dot. However, as suggested in the post & elsewhere, I "factory-resetted" the device. Not worked. I then reverted back to the Android 2.2 "Update.pkg" I had in the sd card. Update was done as usual. But the phone just didn't get ON.
That was yesterday. Well today, all of a sudden, when I tried to on the phone, it started!!!!
But new problem, the phone is not rooted. Checked out with the Android emulator. Tried the whole procedure. Went through the same steps. Problem repeated. Solved. Again & again.. the phone refuses to be ROOTED!!!
What could be the problem?
First of all dont bump a year old thread,
secondly superboot will brick the streak as it's designed for a different rom,
thirdly use the guides on xda/wiki to reinstall with a update.pkg,
fourthly there's a guide halfway down the page currently in the dev section on how to root correctly
Use superone click
One click rooting methods are not infallible. The recommended way to root is to manually install StreakMod Recovery then Superuser.zip.
Thanks in advance to everyone and anyone who can help me. I bought my dell streak on preorder day in the US, like august 13th or so, and I love the device. I read all around and heard about the 2.1 beta and like anyone else was eager to get in installed. I rooted 1.6 no problem with superboot and installed clockwork recovery followed by the 2.1 update and it worked seamlessly. However after the 2.1 update I noticed that the Barnacles Wifi wasnt working and I didnt have superuser permissions in my application list. So I concluded that after the 2.1 update I was no longer rooted. So I flashed superboot again and god do I regret it. My phone is locked up at the dell logo, when I flash recovery.stock.img and reboot holding volume up and down and select option two my screen goes black and stays there. Im all ears to anyone who can help me. Thanks again.
Call Dell. Warranty Swap. Tell them your Streak is frozen on the logo screen. They will tell you how to do a factory reset. That won't work. They'll ship you a new one. Don't tell them you installed 2.1 and pray. Wait for the new one to come. Use 1.6 until 2.2 comes out.
Surely there is a solution without involving Dell. The phone still turns on and I can get to fastboot and I even managed to get to clockwork recovery.

Or you can get someone's Nandroid backup and restore their copy. Greenarcher posted his Nandroid backup with the latest 2.1 version.

BTW... when flashing, just use the same copy you had for the 2.1 version of your 'Update.pkg' and you should be ok. Your bootloader just crapped out after you flashed Superboot. Don't know why you did that but... hindsight!
I dont know why either, I simply presumed rooting would be the same application regarldess. You're correct sir, hindsight is 20/20. The thing is now when I follow those instructions (I had already read, reviewed, and attempted) I get a blank screen after selecting option number 2.

And ask why it wasn't made a sticky for people like you
I wouldn't waste your time contacting Dell support, because if you've installed (tried to install) so crap mickey mouse third party update, they won't honor the warranty anyway!
I am not buying into my phone being a paperweight yet. The hardware is fine then software can always be repaired. There must be a fix for this, somehow.

it wasnt made a sticky because the info is pretty redundent and it can be found in pretty much every thread in the streak forums
well well well, my phone is up and running on 2.1 and is rooted. Hot damn.
KK Not entirely sure how it happened. Aware of just how difficult it is to actually brick an android device but until I can sort this out thats precisely what I've got.
Was following the guide to downgrade from Steve's 2.2 (fresh from QDLTools) to 1.6, successfully downgraded to 2.1. Then Followed the instructions to 1.6, but after hitting the apply update.pkg it worked for a bit, then went to reboot and nothing happened. device wouldnt turn on, or do much of anything. Pulled battery and whatnot, then it would turn on and go to the dell logo...and nothing else. Can't load recovery, can't get into fastboot, or anything else. Any ideas what I did and how to fix?
I had an issue recently where I was stuck at th Dell logo. I ended up using using QDLTools from scratch. Make sure you leave the battery out for at least a minute before trying to get it into fastboot.
QDL hung on reboot every time, buddy at BBY told me to bring it in amd exchange it since its only a couppe days old so I went ahead and did that.
Just picked up an unlocked dell streak. I'm running 2.1, and when im going to about phone- system updates and it keeps saying no new software.
I checked dell's website and it says all unlocked devices should now have 2.2
and what is this about 309 devices and 318 devices and how do i check which version do i have?
can anyone help me get 2.2 on my streak?
Mate there are a lot of threads and walk troughs on the dell streak that will get you to 2.2 very easily
I would suggest you spend time reading as much as you can so first you understand how to upgrade and how to use the PC with fast boot
Knowledge is your Friend
You need to flash the 309 loader to your phone. You use fastboot to do so.
Then save 318 update.pkg to your sd card
Do a battery pull and hold both volume buttons to go to recover menu.. hit upgrade option 2 wait and your done.
I will post a link when I pop on my pc

Qdl gives you 305. From there you can go to the latest US release of 318. Check out streakdroid.com for info on using qdl to update your streak.

my streak has a major problem but dont know what to do it says random errors and after i reset it it erases all info like if it goes factory reset ive tried diffrent steves roms but same thing. i tried going back to stock but read instructions on how to downgrade but only got as far as 2.1 and after that streak never recognize the other step and i also tried to do the qdl tool but i keep getting fails. please help i have white streak dont know if its the actual streak but how can i go back to stock so i can atleast ship it to dell to fix. thanks
Ok give.a.little more description like what version are u on when u had the issues, are u getting fc's? What methods u used, etc. u might not have to downgrade or send to dell.
I restored it with qdl tool but im still getting an error but this time it had an error with the settings and then I turned off the streak and it didnt want to load it would get stuck on the dell logo it wotks on average of about two days before I get an error message that makes it not load after the fcs.
