There is someone who has a XDA or T-mobile built in USA with GSM 900 and 1900 in Europe, particularly in Italy?
I would like to know if this Mobil phone receives the signal of the GPRS and if it works with Sim Card of the TIM, eventually what configuration has done, because mine don't receive signal GPRS and doesn’t work as GPRS. Thanks.
Someone mentioned in a previous post a potential issue with the HD2 and the Telstra 3G network.
Very curious to the details. I previously had the HD with no issues on the Telstra network. Just assumed the HD2 would be fine.
I rarely use the web and most of my internet traffic is background. email etc.
I do occasionally use it as a modem thou.
Is it just Telstra?
Other networks okay?
Is it the same issue as with the US market?
Fixed via software or hardware?
Thanks
It's just Telstra's NextG network.
Telstra runs several networks. The HD2 is fully compatible with their 2G service. But Telstra's main 3G network ("NextG") runs on the 850mhz band, just like in the US. The HD2 doesn't support the 850mhz band, so you won't get NextG if you're with Telstra.
To make things more complicated, Telstra runs a second 3G network on the 2100mhz band, which is supported by the HD2. Coverage is not great, however.
All other carriers in Australia use 900/2100 for 3G, so you don't have these problems with anybody else.
OK
Looks all okay. Seems that most of the metropolitan areas support both frequencies so the HD2 is fine. Prob the same as the HD.
Amazing phone
I have flashed my T-Mobile tab and asked T-Mobile for a Sim unlock code and now it works fine with any Sim. I can place calls with the dialer.
My problem is that in Italy, the tab connects to the internet only in Edge, it does not use the UMTS network.
By going to the mobile settings I do not have the "use only 2G" option.
I have GSM/WCDMA automatic on the settings. By typing the 4636 code on the dialer, it seems already well configured.
any solution?
thx
What is your provider? Because if it does not use the 2100mhz frequency for 3g (t-mobile) you will just not be able to ever connect on 3g, it's not a problem of configuration but a radio incompatibility.
In italy 3g is on 2100 and 900mhz. If i read it right T-Mobile uses 1700 and 2100mhz so it shouldn't be a big issue.
However unless you are using a TIM sim, forget about EDGE: GPRS only for all the other mobile operators!
Maybe there is poor 3g cover where you are at the moment? Wind is particularly low on the cover side.
My italian operator is wind.
the sim I am trying to use is wind.
I am located in Milan.
I also have an N1 bought in the US, when google released the TMobile version (with the 900/2100 band) and in Milan gets the 3G signal pretty well. As soon as I put the Sim in the Galaxy tab, the data connection goes in Edge even when I have full signal.
thank you
What is your apn setting -"profili" from your screen shot? You might have to write down the values when your sim card is in your other phone, then manually add them to your tab.
That is the setting access point names.
There is where I have set up the Apn for my Italian operator. Since I have my nexus one with the 3G connection working fine, I am using the very same settings. The Firmware version I am using is XXJK1.

I already tried this. By checking the dialer code 4636 i have a pretty similar setting as the nexus but still it does not connect using 3G. I am not very techie but I wonder if it could be something related with the modem file I used during the flashing procedure. The calls work fine though.

Try the Roto 3g modem.bin file. Flash in Odin in the Phone spot, leave all other settings alone.
Was this solved? I'm in the U.S. thinking about buying a tab, in Sweden we use 2100Mhz for 3G. Will it work and which one should I get, T-mobile or AT&T?

sorry for not replying before. in the various posts I found two files, i wonder which one is the correct one to use with the firmware I have on my tab (XXJK1).
I would like to be able to make calls and connect in 3g with my italian sim
Which file I use?:
PDA_JL5modem.tar (modem.bin)
or the :
JMA_ROTO-2G_modem.bin
thank you
Actually, I would use the bell i9000 modem from the Roto JME post when using a network compatible to at&t. That gets voice and 3g. I would use the Roto 3g modem for a network compatible to t-mobile to get 3g, but not voice.

I downloaded a modem.bin file from one of the posts after reading one of the Roto posts but unfortunately did not change anything at all.
Would you please link me the post where I can download this specific bell i9000 modem, that is also compatible with a at&t? I want to use the tab for phone calls and 3G, as in Italy we have no voice restrictions as in the US.
Thanks
I currently have a HTC legend and it is from Bell mobility, I want to use it on the T- mobile network. Everything works except for the mobile 3g internet and picture messaging. I did the setup in the settings/ wireless networks but the 3g part of it still seems to not want to work. I was wondering if there is a flash available? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm pretty sure T-mobile uses different bands than the phone supports, AT&T will work with 3G though.
Ahhhhh, don't tell me I have to go back to At&t????
Unless you can live on EDGE only...

Well what about a radio update? Could I update the radio on the legend and gain access the the 3G network?
The hardware will only let you on certain frequencies, T-Mobile does not use those frequencies. You cannot change those frequencies with a radio update.

Hi Everyone,
I live in Toronto on the Telus network with an unlocked International version of i9000.
In town I have great signal but when I leave an urban area my signal drops to nothing. I can goto Wireless and network->Mobile Networks->Network operators and searches and finds TELUS but when I select it says cannot register onto network.
I've called Telus tech-support and they pushed a SIM update and say they see no errors on their side.
Tests I've done: I switched my SIM card to one from Bell's when out of town and had the same problem. I could see the Bell network but couldn't register onto it. But Bell service would resume when I reached an urban area.
I've had the issue with stock ROM (which I suspected was due to wrong modem) but then I flashed a Bell compatible modem and I have the same issue.
I'm running international i9000 Doc's JPY Rom (wipe isntall): and flashed JL2 modem (Bell 850/1900). I have 2100mhz 1900mhz and 850mhz WCDMA frequencies selected in bands menu.
I've been having this issue since August and if anyone has any ideas on what I can try please let me know.
