Galaxy S (I9000) Help: Internal SD card unmounted after every Reboot!

Dear all,
Before I started a new thread, I just wanted to tell you that I've been awake for over 14 hours Starting to fix issues with my phone and tried alot of things before resorting to starting a new thread,So Please excuse me for starting one
Here's the long one :
Got a Galaxy S as A Present, after an Iphone 3GS, phone is great .. was a branded vodafone one I think from Germany running Android 2.2.1 I think back then.
As am Egyptian I wanted to the phone to read arabic fonts,So I decided it to flash with the Official Android 2.3.3 Arabic version.
Flashing went perfect, everything is smooth and all is very cool started to love the phone.
I dont have an external SDcard this is the internal one btw.
after a few months, a Friend challenged me that he's blackberry would boot faster than an android.
I was intrigued ! So I turned off my phone, turned it back on (I think this was the first time I do it since I flashed it) the phone kept rebooting !
and after like rebooting 10-12 times ... it finally booted correctly (5-6 minutes)
I said something must be wrong with the Firmware I flashed, but Ignored it as the phone worked perfectly after this.
a few days ago it died on battery, charged it ... reboot loop !
I found a hundred of thousands of guides on how to fix that boot loop !
I was getting errors :
e:failed to mount /sdcard (file already exists)
e:copy_dbdata_media:can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet.please use ui menu for format and reboot actions
meida files copy failed.
after going into recovery mode and trying to wipe data, these above errors always showed.
So I found a guide that suggests flashing with a 3-file ROM (Phone/Modem/CSC) and re-partition would fix this.
So I flashed with the official 2.3.3 (unmodified) and the errors disappeared, phone works perfectly ! although everything is erased of course.
So after setting it up again I thought that I should test restarting it again..
so I did .... and there it goes .. went on Looping again !!!
I went into recovery mode ... same errors appeared again ...
Re flashed 3 files again ... works fine ... restart = loop !
although one time it looped a few times and it did boot at the end, the SDcard (internal one) can be formatted without errors, never had any writing issues so I dont think its corrupted or anything.
But now I can't let the phone reboot or die on battery without flashing it again .. as if its a TETHERED jb iphone !
any suggestions ?

Please try doing as follows:
1. Flash a Kernel with lag-fix support like Voodoo which I can recommend in this case.
2. After flashing the Kernel the phone should boot and the converting of the partitions from RFS to EXT4 will begin, let it be until the phone reboots to the user interface.
3. Turn the phone off and enter Download-mode and re-flash the device using the firmware of your choice and a different pit file of that that is used on your phone (use 512.pit if it's on 803.pit or 803 if it's on 512), you need to use pit and you need to check re-partition.
4. Do a factory reset from recovery after completing the first boot, you need to let the phone boot all the way to user interface then do a factory reset after turning it off.
I hope that this will fix the issue that you are having, good luck and let us know how it goes.

Well I don't know what to do now!
before flashing the kernel you suggested, the phone died on battery so I had to charge it, opened it .. boot looop .. so I said am going to do the same thing I used to do the past few days .. flash with the official 2.3.3 (3 files flash) and repartition.
Apparetly that doesn't cut it anymore, I tried DarkysRom as well, I still get the same error now :
e:failed to mount /sdcard (file already exists)
e:copy_dbdata_media:can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet.please use ui menu for format and reboot actions
meida files copy failed.
Can't get past it, and of course the phone keeps on boot looping if I ignored it
Am I beyond repair ?

ok after a few reboots, the phone booted correctly, is there's anything to do after it booted ? its on the 2.3.3 now, should I try to update from sdcard thing ?

You don't have a problem with the SD-Card, the problem is with the Kernel not able to mount partitions /data and /dbdata it's why you get those loops, that can happen if there is errors on these spaces and there journals which are located on these partitions.
My advice regarding flashing a costume Kernel and converting to EXT4 is to format these partitions and wipe all these errors, then flashing back to a firmware using pit and reparation should give you a clean firmware install with no errors.
You can try to turn off the phone and power it up again and see if it boots as it should, if not then some of the partitions still does not mount correctly.
You don't have to worry about the device, flashing and re-flashing it will not break it, it's a very solid phone, just be careful and you will be fine.
Always flash when the device has enough battery power (50%-100%)

Ok I've got the voodoo fix but its for 2.2 not 2.3 .. (Vooodo 5.5 ) there's a beta (Voodoo 6.0) for 2.3
I tried flashing 5.5 this morning to the current rom, it still kept on rebooting but it took along time to do so .. (long time between reboots).
So I thought of getting a rom with voodoo built in .. so I got the DarkySrom Resurrection 10.2 and after flashing .. it still went into constant loops..
I have a few things that I didn't try yet, I will post with updates, thanks again for ur time.

First of all i want to apologize for my bad english.
I bought a dell streak 5 mini second hand . it was working perfect but after 2 days it startet to reboot non stop ,
Sometimes it was stuck on dell logo sometimes not working at all. So i started reading in the forums what to do.
I downloaded the stock 1.6 ROM and the recovery. I downloaded Drivers for Android Device . ADB drivers etc.
I downgrade it but no luck still rebooting . Then i Upgrade it still no luck .
Then i replace the internal SD car hoping that this is going to solve my problem.
The firs time i switched the phone on it made its own partitions in the new SD card and lunched the android but it crashed again .
than i install QDL tool made a recovery update it to 2.2 stock ROM
And now its not stuck on dell logo but its still crashing.
Dont know what to do.
Dell Bulgaria dont want to help me
Did anyone had this problem Please help me i love my phone and i dont want to trow it away .

have tried all those reset and wipes? do all that.. and then use another external sd card... sometimes the problem comes from external sd card itself...

HOW do i do that ?

Attach Streak (in loop state) to PC and issue a
adb logcat -d > mylog.txt
in commandline.
Attach zipped mylog.txt here.

Cant switch to stock rom :/

Hey guys i wanna reflash to back to stock rom cuz sadly i did some weird stuff which deleted my playstore and jammed all the google apps so yeah....
PLUS whenever i try to go into cwm and flash something it says \Cant mount sd card and iv tried alot of things and it just wouldnt open...
I can easily open the files on my pc and my phone so idk whats wrong so PLEEEEASE give me a fix for this...
As of the reflashing i downloaded a stock rom according to my area and everything is fine in odin cuz my phone is recognized in download mode and i upload all three files correctly as in
PDA ---> Pda file
Phone----> modem file
CSC-----> CSC File
And start the process and its all fine until it says
Processes ( 0 completed ,1 failed)
And then in the big box on top it also says failed....
Can someone please tell me what the problem is cause i cant flash a rom or get a new cwm or switch to stock rom....
Is this a problem because im already on stock rom and kernel ?
Is it cuz im doing it wrong ?

Well you must use the new version of ODIN or if it still runs into errors,go to CWM on your phone and format system,data and cache and then try to flash the stock ROM via ODIN.

i experienced same problem.. u can just restart ur system sometimes it may save.. another thing is galaxy y phones sd card.. when it occurs in cwm i just pull the battery and remove sd card and reinsert it.. it will become correct..

It was rooted. recently I tried Adding A ROM for the first time .. Using CWM .. I Followed the steps Mentioned On A Perticular Website ... I dont know whether i can share links here or something....But I guess It Wont help.. Unless I post the link.. Or wait Let me Copy the Rom file mentioned Their To Download and yea I Tried to Update my Andriod 4.3 With Kitkat. . .Rom Of S5. [ Or thats What i wanted to do ]

I used Recovery Of Clockward Mod.
Added that Exe File in My Phone. Use Recovery mod [Home+vol up + Lock ] Went their
First noidbackuped and then added Custom Rom. Now Everything was done . I Reeboted . My devide got Bootlooped.. And The Things Went worse when I tried to Finish The bootloop [Stuck at Samsung] by
Perform a full clean-up of the device (This will delete all apps and their settings and game progress). For this:
Select Wipe data/Factory reset, then select Yes on the next screen to confirm factory reset (screenshot).
Select Wipe Cache Partition, then select Yes on the next screen to confirm wiping cache.
it Didnt work .. So I Tried to Restore my Rom .. .Just Went In Back up restore and selected the backed up .rom and Stilll device Softbricked.
Then What i did was Completly ****. I just Was In like Blank Mind . So I FORMATTED MY WHOLE PHONE INCLUDING SYSTEM AND SDCARD0 .. And there , Now I have Nothing but just A CWN RECOVERY MOD ACCES+ ODIN DOESENT RECOGANIZE MY DEVICE IN DOWNLOADING MOD OR ANY .. And when i Try To turn on It just Do Nothing .. isnt There a way ? To Just Install Rom ? I can still acess CWM And If Someone Can tell me A Appropriate Rom File .zip for my Cellphone Ill download it , Add it in Sd card and Then Use CWM To Install that rom ? Its quite Possible ? Please ? Anyone ? help ?

you can't use download mode but you can still enter recovery? that's pretty weird... are you sure you're trying correctly? are the drivers properly installed and stuff? if it still doesn't work, then go to this section of the forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9500-develop there you will find plenty of roms you can flash with CWM recovery

I can enter Downloading Mod but The Problem is That There is No /0/System .. In my Mobile . So Computer Dosent Pics up .. I Deleted my sdcard/0/ .. Completely Using CWM so i can only access CWM ..

Hi mate,
Lets go step by step.....
If you can get into recovery you can get into download...
1. Press and hold Volume Down, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
2. Release the buttons when you get the warning message.
3. Now press Volume Up button to confirm.
after you are in download mode lets flash a stock rom back in you can follow this thread

same one you had or newer ,
Another option would be ....
Take external sd out of your phone and use any posible adapter or device so you can use you pc to place a custom rom in....now place it back in your phone and from cwm instal the custom rom...

Stop panicing. This is basic rom flashing.
Just flash a custom rom from within cwm.

I can see that you are a new member, but why would you even give him this advice? There is nothing wrong with his phone. Stop giving these advices because it only scares people.

Allright my Phone Is Back .. But its only Lock Screen that works when i unlock it hangs and gives S voice Stopped working , xxxx stopped working this stopped working etc... ? Now how should i fix this problem ? please Im really thankfull For all of your advise.. i downloaded the Official Firmware From Sam Firmwares and used Odin and Did Intall everything. please ? Tell me what should i do ? now ..

My A120 Is Bricked very Hardly Plz Help Guyz!!!

Hello There!!
I was trying to get back to stock rom
And Always Getting this no space error 5069 While Flashing
After searching i found that format will fix this and i can flash like a charm
But after formatting my Device Is dead
no boot, no charging, no recovery
I'm Trying TO whole flash but I'm there is no option for that only Getting without bootloader one
Then i've checked it memory in memory test option now i'm getting
Nand Flash Not Detected
Plz!!! tell me what i can do to take my phone back to life
The Phone is out of warrenty

Same thing happend with me.

Use format+download all in SPFlashTool (with the same stock ROM), then do a firmware upgrade in SPFT with the same ROM.

Thanks for replying, i almost lost my hope of fixing this problem​
Now after trying it says:
1) after format+download it says no space error
2)then i tried firmware upgrade i'm getting " Failed to get PMT info " and "Invalid partition table" error in spft v3.xx
I've found many users are facing this problem, if it will fix here it will be great help for them
Just tell me what to do next​

K, Try this for a change...
Assuming u already have all the required drivers installed (get it via google search, if not), use the latest sp flash tool (it does matter), browse your scatter file (i recommend u use the Stock JB/KK/LP) and goto the format tab (next to the download tab) and do an auto format. Now goto the download tab and do a format all+download and finally firmware upgrade (all this without the battery)... Now start your phone. This works fine for me when my phone get soft-bricked. However u must remember that formatting all may have risk of your NVRAM getting formatted and so loss of IMEI, but you can always have it fixed via AT command.

I was using spft ver 5.1516.00
while auto format i was getting errors, in v5 it says BROM ERROR: S_DL_READ_PT_FAILE(5073), only v3.1328 can format it successfully while others v3 are getting invalid range error[I think this place will give some clue of what's happening]
ok then in format+download section( using spft V5)
format 100%
boot loader 100%
just after few seconds again no space error
Now in firm-upgrade section
again error failed to get pmt info
thanks for trying mate
now I have some hope for this device to be fixed
i'm not worrying about imei
anybody there plz bring my phone back to life

Given your desperate condition, go with this:
Re-install the drivers and spftool from here: http://d-h.st/7CL
Use a different USB wire (maybe your I/O port of USB wire is damaged, happened with me once).
Then retry the method listed above of formatting, downloading and upgrading.
Hope this helps.
P.S.: I am not an expert so I couldn't understand the errors, but looks like these are common errors so you should get your phone back alive. :good:

still getting invalid Pmt error on firm upgrade
and no space in download

Make full format (including calibration data & boot loader) then flash with jellybean
Auto format not make full format some data is not earse . make full format then flash with jellybeam stock rom
(Use latest sp flashtool
Without battery
Check Usb pin & cable are rightly connected )

i can't see format with bootloader option in format tab
Is there Any other way to do this(may be manual format will work, but dont Know How to do)

Change your stock rom for flashing kitkat or jellybean / wiko_rainbowlollipop official stock rom
use older spflash tool
then also u get same error service center is a batter option

In service center people are saying its board fault and it have to be replaced (pricing 3K)
But i'm sure the board is working
its any other problem

Have u tried both versions of sptools .format and download should work.try a different cable.if nothings working try adb from pc

1. Download SP flash tool (I think you already have) and Smartphone multiport download tool = http://www.mediafire.com/?1ycvu9ywv7vjnhv.
2. Open and run as admin - SPMultiPortFlashDownloadProject.
3. Click file, open download agent name' and add 'MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin'.
4. Open factory database and select the .mdb file.
5. Click scatter file - and select the .txt scatter file.
6. Then the 'top three boxes (LCD and camera driver) . You click last - ???????? button and unlock it for changing driver parameters.
7. Remember the 1st box for back camera, 2nd box for front camera, 3rd box for display driver.
8. My recommended :
under sensor 1 selectv5647_raw
under sensor 2 select:hi704_yuv

(if doesnt work change again and again)
9. Select high speed and no battery (I think no need to do).
10. Simply close the Tool. then open, SP flash tool
11. Select scatter loading, and load the same 'scatter file' , which you previously opened in the 'multiport download tool'
12. SELECT 'UBOOT' ONLY AND NOT SELECT OTHER ALL PARAMETERS. THEN CLICK DOWNOAD.
Then reboot your phone and check... display is ok ?
If not ok, Then again open smartphone multiport download tool and change the display driver and do the same all things previously.
You have to do repeatly, until, you are getting display normal.
The same thing for camera's working also. Do this ..I doubt adb will work just temme if it fixes it...
