[Q] no "FastBoot" option after power on while hold the camera button - Streak 5 General

Hi all,
I am new to the Dell Mini 5. Just got one last week, and noticed
it has "Engineering Sample" label on the back. The device works fine with
original version Android, 1.6. It works fine with AT&T sim card(I only
have voice plan). It doesn't work with T-Moible sim card.
Here is the info from Settings-->About.
Baseband GAUSB1A1004151.
Firmware Version: 1.6.
Build number: 79129.
OEM version: Unknow
Kernel version 2.6.29-perf.
I tried to upgrade to Android 2.2(heard a lot of good things). When I
fastboot the device(press the power on button while holding the camera button), the
white comes up, but there is NO "FastBoot" option. "Touch calibration", and others
are displayed in the screen.
What other options do I have in terms of upgrade.
Do I have to unlock it first ? (my device has "Unkown" in the OEM). AT&T reps
say they cannot get the unlock code because the device is not AT&T.
Thanks a lot in advance.

wm6 for verizon...which one should i choose?

for verizon there are the two versions of the Apache WM6 CE OS, the standard and one with the 1.02 bootloader, do i need one of these versions specifically for the ppc6700? What difference is there between the two packages? Im sure this is an extremely dumb question but i searched and couldnt find anything on it.
thanks,
BFfelon
when you power up in bootloader mode (hold down power button, notes button, then reset to enter the bootloader mode i believe) it will turn on, but the backlight is off, so you will need a flashlight or nice direct light to read it. At the bottom there is the version of your bootloader. I would assume that if you had version 1.02 you would download that version, but if you didnt (ie version 1.00, 1.04) you would do the standard. That's just a guess.

[Q] Found a Wildfire, can't hard reset

Forgive me for probably relatively simple questions, but my last involvement on here was the development of WM5 for the HTC Blue Angel! So quite some years ago...
I've found a wildfire in the local park a fortnight or so ago. I tried to make an attempt to find its owner, but the device is locked out (asking for email/password) and there is no SD card or SIM card in it (Guessing someone "obtained" it one way or another, couldn't get into it and threw it away). Anyway, long story short - Police aren't interested, Virgin say the phones likely already been disabled and there's nothing they can do with it - so thats left me with it.
Now when I power it up, it goes straight to a screen that has FASTBOOT highlighted in red. This menu key info shows:
S-ON
HBOOT-1.01.0002
RADIO-3.35.20.10
Dec 27 2010, 17:49:10
The power button and volume down buttons don't respond. Tried to do a hard reset, but the buttons don't respond on the other screen either.
Tried to flash with a WWE RUU. It would fail due to Customer ID error but the phone would subsequently boot to the locked screen again. Managed to create a Goldcard (using my Blue Angel none-the-less!) and now RUUs fail due to a bootloader error I think it is.
When running RUU, the version the device is running is: 2.39.775.1
The highest RUU i've found is: RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.22.405.1_Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10_release_160191_signed
It seems a shame to just throw the phone in the bin, but I'm now at a loss what to do.
I've guessed the phones on Virgin, as putting that sim card in when the phone is on the lock screen rather than the white one it shows a different message to any other sim card. I can't find a Virgin RUU though if that would help.
HBoot seems to be the newest one, it is not possible to use Unrevoked to unlock the bootloader, so you either wait till Unrevoked releases a new version with a new exploit, or you find someone with a XTC-clip to S-off your HBoot. (or you buy it yourself)
I thought as much.
Is there no way to be able to get the hard reset to work - just to get the device remotely usable?
First take out SIM and memorycard,
1.Switch off phone by removing battery and put battery back in
2.hold the volume down button and press the power on button briefly, with the volume down button held
3.you will now get a screen approx 10 seconds later and with a few options, go to hard reset/factory reset
4.follow options through, this will reset phone to factory settings.
Post if it works or not
h4oxer: I could get to that menu, but there was no response from the buttons. I couldn't change the menu option highlighted, nor did the power button execute what was already highlighted.
By placing a PC49IMG and a rom on the memory card and then booting to that menu, it enabled those options to be selected. I couldn't flash the rom, but I have now managed to perform a hard reset. Now it boots up ok, but when I go to power off, the next time I power on it's going back to the fastboot (highlighted red) screen. I'm running any RUU update to kick it out of fastboot back into the actual OS.

Omnia 7 update problem

Hi,
I can't update my Omnia 7 with Zune anymore after the Mango update.
My Omnia 7 is Orange UK branded.
SO: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware 0222.11.8.5
Hardware 3.15.0.4
Radio 2424.11.7.2
Bootloader 5.8.1.9
SOC 0.36.2.0
Before all: after the Mango update I noticed that any compass software works as the bluetooth, I can't pair my bluetooth headset.
Now I received a push notification that a new software update is available, I tried to do it with Zune, but step 7 (install upgrade) doesn't works as in past (the progress bar increase slowly). After some seconds Zune reset the phone and after the boot Zune says: error 80180048.
I found a solution from Microsoft, using the "Windows Phone Support Tool", but it can't connect to hte phone, it says:
The phone is not in the 'Connect to PC' state. Please make sure that you follow the instructions and your phone shows the 'Connect To PC' image
Instead I turn on the phone with camera button pressed and I can see the "Connect to PC" image on the phone.
I also tried to use the recovery tool from Samsung (downloadable from the Samsung support website), I enter in download mode (camera + vol up + power on buttons) and the program seems to do its job, but anything change during upgrades...
I read in Microsoft Answer forum that it could be a faulty bootloader problem,
can anyone help me? Thanks
L.
I have the same firmware revision numbers as yourself. (I'm on Orange UK Branded) except i'm now on .7740
When you plug into Zune, what update is offered to you? Is it listed as offering Outlook bug fixes and Voicemail bug fixes?
Or does it say it's a Samsung update for windows phone?
Hi,
thanks for your reply.
Yes, Zune offer 7740 update, with Outlook bug fix, ...
But do bluetooth and compass work on your phone?

Bluetooth used to work well... since Mango / 7720 it stopped working properly. Now it only reliably connects if i turn WiFi off. Otherwise it will search and find once.. then never again until i soft-reset.
Compass... it's hit and miss. I've tried a few apps and i can't get them to calibrate so no.. not really.
It seems everyone else has been offered a firmware upgrade apart from Orange :/ I don't get why I was sent out the 7740 fix and left on old firmware.
As far as your problem with updating go, did you try the simple fixes of plugging directly into a USB2 port at the back of the PC not using an extension.
And also I always delete all I can from my phone before I upgrade it. On my 8gb phone I don't leave more than 2gb data on it to update and it's been fine for me so far... I just remove things like music and movies as they are easy to re-sync quickly afterwards.
If not i've read of people having that bug resolved with a hard-reset. Although that's annoying for you :/
I tried to connect the phone on a USB port on the PC back, but I've the same problem.
I also hard reset my phone some days ago, but it didn't solve my problem.
...Zune doesn't perform step 8 (installing), now I'm sure it's cause the phone can't enter correctly in download mode.
...I'm annoyed at Orange and Samsung.

Hmm :/ I know i had a faulty bootloader version.. i couldnt get into download mode. I had to use a resistor jig.
However when i got mango my bootloader changed and it works now. Can you not enter download mode at all?
I can enter in download mode using the 3 buttons combo (cam + vol up + power), and using the 2 buttons (cam + power), the download mode you enter with the jig connector isn't the same of the buttons combo?
Btw neither if Zune enter in download mode nor if I manually enter with buttons combo to use "Windows Phone Support Tool" I can flash the phone. Zune return error 80180048, the other program says "The phone is not in the 'Connect to PC' state. Please make sure that you follow the instructions and your phone shows the 'Connect To PC' image".

No it should be the same. Download mode shows a yellow triangle.
Conect to Pc mode just shows the cable/laptop image as it does when you update the phone.
I'd guess that since you can enter bootloader / download mode that's not the issue...
I'm with you on the whole Annoyed with Samsung though.. Bring on my upgrade and a Nokia!

me too same problem, the WP Support tool didn't resolve the problem.
same problem today with attempted update to 7740
Zune told today that 7740 available and update installed fine. Also got tethering update week ago. Unbranded retail phone.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using Board Express
Same problem for me. Trying to troubleshoot now.
Edit: Tried troubleshooting with @WinPhoneSupport, but no resolution. They're now "looking into the error": https://twitter.com/#!/WinPhoneSupport/status/142341050084769792
the same problem. I have mango with "wrong" czech language (edit in registry for activate it). Do you think this is the reason of failed update?

I can't be sure, but I doubt it. I haven't activated any languages.
I've just noticed this error has been reported from a user with an HTC HD7 as well, so it's not isolated to the Omnia.

[Q] Remove Android and Return HTC HD2 to Windows Mobile 6.5

I have a similar issue and the instructions in this thread did not work for me. I also need help with returning my HD2 to WinMo 6.5. I do not know the version of HD2 I have – I bought the phone off the internet and it arrived pre-installed with Android. Under the battery is indicated HD2 T8585; the phone also arrived with a dual-SIM adapter already installed. Other details in ‘About phone’ are:
· Android version – 2.3.7
· Baseband version – MAUI.11AMD.W11.37.SP.V6.2011/10/29 13:22
· Kernel 2.6.35.7
· Build number – 10HX2P.H3.120216.AD2_3_5_V3.WVGAC_CN.COM_V01_3G
I have downloaded and placed a copy of LEOIMG on a FAT32 formatted 2GB micro SD card but am unable to access the boot loader with any of the key combinations give here on the forum and elsewhere – I have tried vol down on power up, VOL DOWN + RESET + POWER UP all to no avail. The most I can get (VOL DOWN ON POWER UP) is a ‘Factory Mode’ screen with the options for:
· Full test
· Item test
· Test report
· Clear flash
· Version and
· Reboot
I still could not get the boot loader even after running each of the options. VOL UP + POWER on gives me the small droid figure (?) and a triangle with an exclamation mark. From this I concluded that my phone no longer has boot loader.
Please help if you know any way that I can uninstall Android from this phone and return it to windows mobile 6.5?
Many thanks in advance!!

I am afraid that might be a fake HD2.
1st: What do you mean by a "dual-SIM adapter"? The HD2 shouldn't have dual sim.
2nd: There is no such baseband.
3rd: This is the first time I see those options.
I'm petty sure you have a fake as well. Nothing that can really be fine about it unfortunately
Sent from my Nexus 4
I thought the dual-SIM quite unusual and will settle for fake. Thanks for availing me of your expertise.

[Q] Having Problems

Model number: HTC Desire A8181 (According to abaaaabbbb63 it's a HTC HD2, with a ROM ported from the Desire)
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: 15.39.50.07U_2.10.50.26
Kernel version: 2.6.32.15-g66f6ed7-dirty
[email protected] #2
Build number: 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys
Software number: 2.29.405.5
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
I recently acquired a HTC Desire A8181 from a friend yesterday. It was his, so he of course did a Factory Reset under the Settings option, thinking everything was deleted he gave it to me. Well nothing got deleted, not the messages, Google account, apps he's installed, nothing except the contacts. So naturally, I manually deleted all the apps it let me and messages, along with adjusting some settings to my liking.
Well now my problem is his Google account won't delete no matter how many times I've Factory Reset the phone (6 times now), and even when I go to 'Accounts & Sync' to remove account it says I need to Factory Reset the phone because it's required by some applications, but that does nothing at all.
So then I look up how to go into Recovery Mode by holding the Volume Down button and turn the phone on, well it doesn't go into Recovery Mode, all it does is give me a screen that's 1/4 Red, 1/4 Green, 1/4 Blue, and 1/4 White with numbers and letters on the screen. I can't do anything except take the battery to get off that screen.
All I want is for the phone to be like when it first was taken out of the box. I want to feel stupid when the first screen that comes up is how to use the phone, and set up a Google account for the phone. I mean, I can't even get into the Play Store. If you need more information, just ask me and I'll provide it.
What bootloader are you using? (When you boot up the phone, do you see aMagldr written at the top then android boots, or you see nothing but the boot animation?)
If the former, hold down the END key, then go to "AD recovery" (using volume keys and CALL key to confirm), then go into factory reset.
If the latter, depending on the version, we need to know which version you have. Hold down the BACK key when booting up the device and tell us what you see (exactly as it appears).

It says aMAGDLR V1.11, when I boot up holding the BACK key, it doesn't do anything either.

I told you if you have MAGLDR, hold the END key while booting, then follow what I said earlier.
Edit:
Oh yeah, I totally forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. @op I'm sorry for the wrong info, never mind my posts, just follow what Nigel's said.

I don't think MAGLDR 1.11 supports custom recoveries so he can't do that. OP, just consult the guide in my sig and use it to flash MAGLDR 1.13, CWM and a custom ROM. None of your friend's data will remain on the device.
Thank you to the both of you guys. I honestly had no idea phones could be hacked. Looking around these forums (and using your sig) I finally flashed it back to Window's 6.5 with no data remaining from my friend. Appreciate the help, I pushed thanks for the both of you guys.
