Hello all you Developers out there
I bought a Freedom Universal Keyboard Ver 1 a number of years ago. I had a Treo 700p. I could not figure out a way to map the extra programmable keys to the menu key on the Treo. Support was not helpful.
So now I own a Droid X and got the keyboard hooked up and it is working well. BUT I would also like to be able to access the four buttons on the bottom of the DROID X, the menus that pop up and the Volume keys.
I purchased Key-Pro from mymobilegear.com to interface with the keyboard. They have a bunch of programable keys in their settings. I have tried several combinations but no luck there so far. I can get a few apps to come up like gmail, phone and calculator just by fooling around with typing different combinations of keys.
Does anyone know the combination of keys to control these Droid x buttons?
????? \xxx , "CTRL", "ALT" "SHIFT" + any other keys or ascii code or whatever??

I'm trying to set up Duke Nukem 3D on the Wizard and can't find the key names or codes for various keys, like the camera, call, hang up, backlight etc...
Any ideas?
I think most of the hardware keys are in the normal range of F1, F2 etc.
Eg I think the hangup key is like F4.

Aren't the pickup and hangup keys hard-bound in Windows Mobile to the phone options, and the nagup key is always set to hangup the phone call, or kill the current app? I've always found that I can minimise ANY running app by hitting the hangup key. Which has its uses, but is wholly impractical for mapping keys to functions in games and stuff.
christopherwoods: no the hard keys aren't mapped to the phone. Well, in a way they are, but not internally. Basically, if the phone app, cprog.exe, is working, it will intercept keys F3 and F4 and interpret those as dial/hangup keys. So using my program VJKeyPress you can simulate red and green with VJKeyPress 114 or 115
However, if you redefine the function of those keys, eg using a program like AE Button Plus, if you then simulate pressing F3 or F4, then it will perform the function chosen in AEButtonPlus. So, the keys can be overriden. Using VJKeyPress 114 will not simulate the phone key etc.

In normal use the red button doesn't minimse windows, it just jumps to the today screen I think. It certainly doesn't close windows. To close windows with the hangup key, check out my program VJOkButt.
Most programs written with GAPI will override the hardware key settings. However, if your game doesn't, use AE Button Plus to remap it to any other key press (perhaps by using my VJKeyPress). Then your game won't have fits when you press it.

Yeah, when I said minimise I meant that it shows the Today screen, and apps behave in the same way as if they're closed using the X - they don't really close, I know that for certain because... Well, that's how Windows Mobile (stupidly) behaves, and Switch shows them as still open.
I'd forgotten about your programs which can intercept keypresses and remap stuff... I must check those out sometime.
Does anyone know what I actually put into the config file, as in, the number or the words from that list or what?
mrsnoopy: I've never tried your game. Quote a few of the settings here and it should be easy to guess. I'd imagine the number though, not the words. Eg escape should always be 27 (or 1B if it's in hex).

Does anybody know how to change the new keys on the TyTn - the start menu key and the ok key?
heya,
at the moment, am using a 3rd party app called ae button plus to capture and remap, note only 2.4.3 beta onwards can perform this remapping.
There are some anomalies though, ie, though my resco explorer's mapped to 2 key presses of the windows key, i'll have to depress it 4 times for it to work.
Hi,
I'm having a problem with Java apps and I did not find a solution for it for 2 weeks now so I decided to try experts help.
I wanna play some Java games but none of them seem to recognize the software buttons that are as you know located on the touch screen. I think Java apps do not realize that there's a touchscreen at all. I tried apps like AEBButtons (or something) to remap other hardware key but none seemed to work Is there a solution?
I'm using JBed 20080222.3.1
Please help.
I think you have to use AE Button Plus or go to button icon under settings to map the left and right softkeys. Those are the buttons shown on screen but cant be used by Jbed.
Hope that helps.
Yeah !! This works but I can define only one button there (camera button). Is there a way to add more buttons, like D-pad directions as you've said ??
I actually ended up using the volume up and down buttons as the left and right softkeys through AEBPlus. But There are options for long press button actions and other things so its just finding which button suits you best. BTW, I tried adding actions to the D pad but never managed it using AEBPlus (it didt recognise it when i pressed it).
Hello,
since yesterday I am a proud owner of the x1i (from tmobile in germany).
Some months ago in pre-reviews there was a hw button on the left side and as far as I understand it was written that it is possible to configure the functionality to it (like screen rotating).
But know, I see that there is no button on the left side, there is just a small sent with the size of a hw button
Because I have installed the touch flow 3d I does currently not need the panels. So my idea is to configure the panel button to rotate the screen.
But I was disappointed because it is only allowed to configure both softkeys but I want to use them for left/right menu usage.
So my question:
It is possible (patch, registry tweak) to configure the other hardware buttons like:
- Panel
- Camera
- Hang up button
Normal press / long press (hold) to other thinks like:
- Screen rotating?
- etc.?
any idea?
best regards,
stefan
Hi stefan,
a lot of people are truying, but up to now without success, as I can read.
I too miss more buttons, but knew this before buying. I have my own WAD2-UI and this is compensating this with full finger touch possibilities.
I have got another question. Is it possible to key map the qwerty keyboard? for example take a qwerty keyboard and make it qwertz and perhaps change special characters and replace them with special characters of your "national" keyboard?
I found a solution in an other thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441191
There is a link to aebplus program, with this program you can configure every hardware button how you like and it can do even more, you can configure up to 4 functions on one hardware button:
- Simple press
- 2 pressed
- 3 presses
- long press

Best regards,
stefan
This is well known but I have read that it does not work on Xperia X1

Where have you read? Do tell.
AEBPlus Work Perfectly
I've tried and AEBPlus work on my Xperia perfectly just like in Touch Pro. Single, double, triple and long press all work flawlessly. Going to buy this wonderful app now
And somewhere else the author of aebutton plus explaind why he cannot access the "Panel" Button. He was saying that this dedicated Panel button is to deep integrated into the system on "driver" level (if I remember correctly).

has anyone found some software to edit the softkeys ? i'd rather not have to edit the registry ...
i appear to have different entries for my softkeys in my standard windows today screen and also in my tf3d home screen, none of which i seem to be able to update.
AE Button Plus
AE Button Plus works just fine on the X1.
The 'dent' you mention on the side, as far as I can tell is purely a finger rest for when you are using the camera.
I have a MAPL100 and downscrolling on the trackball has stopped working. It works sometimes, but usually it takes me 4 or 5 flicks to get it to scroll once.
That said, is there a way to remap one of the keys in the bottom right (Camera button, mail button, and inner circle key) to perform as a downscroll? Like a virtual directional pad.
Or remap a volume key?
More thoughts: the inner circle key can be customized via settings to launch a program. Is there a program that does nothing except send a scroll down signal?
Likely not. How hard is it to make one? I've hardly programmed for WM but I know .NET well so if you have any pointers towards such a program I would much appreciate them.
Thanks
Bumping this. I can't scroll down OR left!
Hi, why don't you try to flash a 3VOLUTION SERIES ROM, they have a button configuration functionally which gives you the option to configurate for long press and short press several buttons, otherwise you could try by installing SmartToolKit or AEB Plus button configurator, however in my experience these apps don't work well with stock roms as they can't seem to register the key remapping; unless of course the issue was with the sd certificates, now I couldn't tell as I'm already on the latest 3VOLUTION SERIES ROM.
