Running CM6.1 RC2 currently.
Not sure if exchange is possible to get running or not but here's my situation:
Company has firewall and domain. I have VPN access. The exchange server requires you to be on the VPN to access it since it's behind the firewall.
I can connect to the VPN just fine but when setting up exchange info it errors out in the final steps and it cannot retreive anything. Does exchange support only work for servers not behind a firewall? I'm guessing the VPN access is throwing it off.

Use Wireless mail from handheld PC's www.handheld-pcs.com - That's who I work for, that's what we do, no need for vpn access.
I have always been able to succesfully connect to the exchange server via activesync, whether it be via GPRS or USB. Now I can't, I keep getting the http_500 error.
I have checked and I can log into the exchange server via OWA in either http or https. Have changed my phone to use SSL, not to use SSL, nothing, same error.
Looked at Microsoft's explanation of having a duplicate smpt address, but it can't be, as the server is running Exchange 2003 SP2, so I can't configure or look at the server. I also can't ask IT, as they don't know I have access and even if you ask, they won't know, as mobile devices are not yet supported.
1 - The Exchange Server has to be configured to allow Mobile Devices to connect.
2 - The Exchange server has to be configured to allow push mail
3 - I think you need to install a certificate on the PPC (using enroller, or just copy/paste the **.cer file and open it)
Maybe you don't need the certificate when NOT using SSL, but I think I remember I couldn't get it to work without... So I installed my certificate on my PPC and HAD TO use SSL to get it to work.
However, ...If you cannot even check whether your Sysops allow pushmail/ActiveSync, you are in dire straits.... You have to know that info.
My company has just upgraded to Exchange 2007 and in the process has added the requirement to access via a new VPN portal.
I always used to have to VPN client to access the server via Outlook but now Activesync will not connect to my 8525 if the VPN is active.
I need to stop the VPN client, start the sync then reconnect to the VPN to access email on the server. As an added issue, 9 times out of 10, if I'm connected to the VPN the device and Active sync cannot see the outside world or the exchage server.
I using Activesync 4.5, repaired it, removed it, unpaired etc all to no avail. I'm running vp3G 3.00 and have no issues until last week when the new VPN was started...... Please help. Oh an I have read pages and pages of previous posts and searches off google.

My Company uses a Nortel Contivity switch to which I successfully connected with Bluefire Mobile Security VPN v2.7.5, Build 706 (IKE=DES+MD5+DH1; IPsec=3DES+MD5+LZH+PFS; NAT traversal active), using a cellular HSDPA connection. Now comes the bad part: I cannot configure Outlook to use the Exchange server nor the IMAP or POP servers (I tried with Flexmail 4 but with the same results) - it always say that the servers are not accessible. As far as I could figure it out, it seems that after the tunneling is operational, Outlook or any other software still tries to access the internet through the cellular connection (I tried to traceroot some addresses and it ALWAYS goes through the cellular line (not the tunneled connection).
What would be the correct settings in my connection manager so I could access the my Company's Exchange / POP / IMAP servers after I setup the VPN manually with Bluefire?

DO you work for VZ ?? i too would like to connect to my vpn network ... I spoke to our techsupport and advised that wasnt possible ...just for bllackberry ... which i found odd ... i would be interested tofind out how to also

when you configure your email account dont you specify which internet connection it should try to use? so shouldnt youspecify that your work conection is he connection that it should use to check mail.?

I have been tinkering with connectivity into my corporate network and so far been able to get a connection to our Office Communicator server via ASProxy and a secure wireless connection. However I am looking for a solution that works across my 3G connection via a VPN.
I have looked at the market place versions of OpenVpn and I cannot get it to work with our Cisco Gateway. I got stuck at the tun and adb part, so not sure what I need to do at this point so though I would ask the experts on here ;-) There has been much work on a very important missing part which was a user authentication proxy, so the next bit for me would be a means of connecting to an IPSec/UDP Cisco VPN Gateway that works with my Domain username and then a fob generated password.
Any help from you guys would be most appreciated and perhaps I can share my ASProxy configuration for anyone wishing to get their's working....

Hi,
you can't use an OpenVPN client to connect to a Cisco (IPsec) VPN server.
If you want to connect to an OpenVPN server then you can use OpenVPN Installer and OpenVPN Settings from the market.
If you want to connect to an IPsec server then use the built-in android VPN client or even some proprietary Cisco client from the market... (don't know about these as I only use OpenVPN)
Hi, thanks for the reply, however the built in VPN client will not work with our server. There is a Cisco anyconnect client that does connect, but we need a license for it which we dont currently have.
