I searched so forgive me if I missed this.
I want to put together a folder on my SD card of my majorly important must install first APK's so I don't have to go to the market after a new ROM install etc.
I use Titanium Backup Pro and that is the one I need the most so I can install it first and then quickly restore everything else but I can not find the apk for it. I did some searching and others have said it was called X but nothing I searched turned it up.
Anyone?
i assume you've already found your answer, but just in case: the apk is available on the official website... just search for "titanium backup" in your browser, should be toward the top. the domain is matrixrewriter. sorry, i'd link, but i don't post enough...
Thanks Hidden. I did find it but forgot to post my finding and you reminded me.
Here is the link to their website.

I'm sorry if this has been covered already, but I couldn't find anything specific dealing with it through search. I swear I've seen it somewhere on the forums before, but I couldn't find it again for some reason.
Basically, I'd like to know if there is any way to restore my applications and settings after a full wipe. I'm getting tired of having to wipe and install a giant list of programs every time I want to troubleshoot, and I figure that there is a way to do this via apk or something else.
I've also heard that it's possible with Cyanogen to run applications off of the SD card with the right partition. Is this stable enough to merit the benefit of not having to wipe every time that I update?
Astro app from Market can do what you want.

I have the astro app, but restoring every application that I want from SD card separately seems to be as exhaustive a procedure as re-downloading the applications in the first place.
I'll check out the interface and see how easy it is. Thanks for the response!
Edit: Oh crap, I was thinking the "app manager" application. Astro's version is a lot more in-depth. Thanks.
I believe "AppManager" on market does batch backup.. not sure about batch installs though.. may want to check it out.
I have used astro to back them up to sd the used appmanager to install them from the sd card. since it backs up to the fat32 partition you can then transfer the folder to your cpu in case you have to reformat the sd card after the flash. Just remember to go to settings and allow for the unknown sources once you get the new rom up then you will have to download the appmanager from the market (at least I think you do) then you can install all of your apps. sorry if I went into too much detail.
sorry looks like you already got the answer you needed. guess i should have kept reading before I replied.
I just delete the files inside /system/app, although such app might be removed, the installed application list in the setting still contains them(written 0KB), now, i want to remove the obsolete items in the list, does anyone know where do the application manager load the list?
Someone please reply to this, is driving me mad not being able to remove applications ROM devs seem to think we cannot be without
titanium backup aplication can uninstall everything from rom
Ah, its ok i searched a bit more and founf this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558907&highlight=remove+apps&page=4 which does the job
thanks.
I know this has been probably asked and answered many times but I'm new to xda community, if anybody can point me to a thread where it explains how to remove these useless apps like (bell pvr)
I use titanium backup. It is free in the Market. But be careful what apps you remove, I was told that certain apps require others to work.I just removed bell PVR and all the "social network" stuff.
When Titanium opens (Must be rooted) select backup/restore button at the top. Then scroll down to the apps you want to remove. Tap the icon then a list will appear, select uninstall.
And you are good
Enjoy your Galaxy!!
I am aware about the Titanium backup and want to remove some useless (for me) apps, but as the above poster mentioned I am not sure which ones are safe to be removed and more importantly, what do we do in case we remove an app that shouldn't have been removed... So if anyone has successfully uninstalled some of the stock apps could mention which ones?
Your best bet would be to backup the files you want to remove. You can do this in Titanium. Then after you remove the files you want to remove. After you reboot see if it works. If not then simply go back into titanium and restore the backup.

you need to be rooted, and use Titan Backup (free)
everything in RED is preloaded
some are safe to remove, some are not
so make a backup before you remove anything
Guys, Where can I find this junk you deleted ...i need bell pvr app.
Anyone got a full backup of bell samsung vibrant ?
not me sorry, that is one of the very first thing i deleted, since i don't use Bell TV
actually i quit TV since like 7 years ago
as soon as i found out i can watch all my favorite TV shows anytime i wanted online/offline
i still have a TV somewhere, i just get the Free Over The Air, like the good old fashioned way, with the Rabbit Antennae
If u guys dont want to do it manually, might i suggest "systemapp remover" in market. It allows deletion of the apk followed by uninstalltion of the appropriate package name.
Titan Backup does that already, it backup and then uninstall
so if you screw-up by "accident" (removing things you shouldn't) you can restore from backup
Is there a nandroid backup or something we can extract the apk from.
Comeon guys, help me out here
thanks

I've read all over these forums about how you can use titanium backup to uninstall the bell apps that come with the phone. But whenever I launch Titanium all I see are the following:
Accounts
Application Widgets
Bluetooth Pairings
Country, Language, Time Zone
Wi-Fi Access Points
I've checked the filters and they're not on.
Is it broken?
Hey I know this was probably posted before but I searched everywhere and I couldn't find info about this. I had some corrupted files and had to reinstall android ( here is the original post with the problem, it was solved http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782615). I used Titanium backup to batch backup all my apps, It did. I reinstalled android, and went on the make a restore from my backup in Titanium. It did restore all the apps that came with froyostone and all the previous settings and things like the theme... but it did not install my market downloaded apps. In the program itself, it shows that there is a backup, but the apps are in grey and they say [not installed] before them (For example [not installed] amazon). It doesn't let me restore the app it only allows me to delete it. What do I do? can't find anything please help me guys!
Appreciate all the help,
Danny
So,
now that the first usable ROMs for X8 pop up i am wondering: what is the easiest way to import all your settings to a new ROM?
i am thinking of Apps, App-Settings, Sync-Settings (gmail, Roadsync..), SMS, Mails etc etc...
Restoring/Setting this up manually after every installation of a new ROM takes some time.
What is your trick for the lazy people?
How much can be backed up with Titanium Backup? I'm still not sure about this.
What other Apps can you recommend?
update: found a solution at lifehacker today.
Non of them will work when going from ROM to ROM. When you go to a new ROM, you should backup the previous one so you can go back to the default when there is a problems with the Custom ROM.
Basically, you can't transfer apps or anything from one ROM to another. You will have to manually install them yourself, take a list of them and download/install again. I wish it could work but it cant ):
Too bad.
Ok, I cant backup apps this way.
Is there a way or script to automatically install apps (apks) from a folder on sdcard?
Maybe I could use AppBrain to sync apps.
But how about System Settings, Accounts...
Hm, actually come to think of it .. If your phone is rooted (obviously is lol) you can go to Root Explorer or any root application manager, go to System>App and if you can transfer them to your SD card, I use Root Explorer, just select all and zip them, then transfer to SD card .. All the .apk's will be in the zip file. I suppose just install one by one
As for system settings, accounts etc. those can't be backed up .. You'll just have to be updated manually :L Don't be lazy haha
just found this tip from lifehacker using titanium backup. looks pretty convinient.
if someone tries this, please report if you have success.

Use this, for me it's the best way.
Titanium backup can store all your current apps and data settings for theseapps, too.
After flashing your new ROM, install Titanium backup and restore your backuped apps. Works fine.
