Alright so I went from FRF91 to FRG83 last night and I made it so that I would be able to keep root and now I'm having an issue with Wireless. Each time I try to turn WIFI on it just says "Error"
Any ideas, suggestions, or comments?
Just thought about flashing FRF91 again..
What radio version do you have? The updated wifi driver of the new rom may need a newer radio than the one you have.

I don't see anything that mentions Proxy..
Last option under wireless settings is proxy. You may have to scroll...

It's NOT a problem of wifi setting, it's that he cannot turn the wi-fi ON. Instead he now has a "wifi error" instead of "wifi off" or "wifi not connected".
The problem most probably is that the wifi driver of the new kernel is not compatible with its radio.
To check the radio version go to : settings-about phone-software informations-baseband version.

Look at logcat, I bet it's permissions. I had this happen after manually editing the wpa_supplicant.conf once and the ownership changed from wifi (wireless? I forget, look at the owner of wpa_supplicant with ps) to root.
fix_permissions MIGHT fix it, not sure.
What FRF91 to FRG83 zip did you use? there is one floating around with this as a known issue
From kenkinder.com/2010/10/05/update-your-rooted-nexus-one-from-frf91-android-2-2froyo-to-frg83-2-2-1/
Superboot and wifi driver issue
I’ve gotten a report that the wifi driver will not load if you flash the superboot version, but then again it’s working for other people. If you experience this problem or find a work around, let us all know in the comments section.

Try using a different update zip. I ran into the same problem and reverted back to FRF91 used a different update package. I forget which one though
In the comments from the site above
I confirm the wifi issue, but I was able to resolve it simply by reverting the /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko to FRF91.

Good infos here on how to fixed the problems

Well I still have this problem. I havent installed FRF91 or FRG83. In fact I've just updated via OTA FRG83G. Any solution?
I had the wifi error when I flashed CM7 for the first time, fix permissions fixed it for me. Hopefully its as easy as that for you as well.

Dear guys
I don't know if you know, but I just got caught off guard with the new update. It said it will install when the kindle is IDLE so I panicked. I did a factory reset and it got rid of the download, and still 13.3.2.2_user_322095220.
Please switch the net off kindles, but if you already have it downloaded do a reset! Of course it is a minor update, so I presume it wouldn't do much, and the exploit hopefully would work.
Remember: factory reset!
Doesn't matter. 99% of hdx users have gotten the forced update that blocks root anyway and AFAIK there is no new method.
I'm not factory resetting a device I can't root and have a custom recovery on anyway.

I got the update. Amazon managed to get it when I was on airplane mode and forgot my network. Amazon are like the Watchdog guy.

How?! I thought forgetting the network would prevent the kindle from connection to the saved network? Second of all during airplane mode?! That's crazy
I got IMDB update when i was sleeping, through the net blocker working .fake blocking and crazy amazon .the good news is my system is still 13.3.2.2.

If you are still on version 14.3.1.0 and are rooted, then all you need to do is rename 2 files which has prevented me from updating and I'm able to use wifi all day long. If not rooted, go ahead and root offline, and then rename the 2 files.
rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.zip.old in /etc/security/
and rename com.amazon.dcp.apk to com.amazon.dcp.apk.old in /system/app/
I've done this on my 8.9, and still have root and am able to use wifi with no issues and have not been updated. I use my kindle daily on wifi. I tell my kindle to update and it says last update failed.
I've also installed Xposed and am using Google play store.
I'm looking forward to the newer updated software versions being rooted, so that we can go ahead and get the bootloader unlocked.

Can someone explain me why my kindle updated while it was in airplane mode?
I did a factory reset today and just connected to wlan to download some apps. I checked the settings and didn't see any updates downloading. Said my device already has the newest update while it was on 13.3.2.2. I then deactivated wlan and set my device to airplane mode. Now while my kindle was still on airplane mode, I got the message that it successfully updated to 13.3.2.3.2. What the duck is wrong with Amazon. Amazon became Hitler's stasi 2.0.

Well basically I think the way it works is that the kindle already downloaded the update, and the updated when idle. However this is a minor update- nothing to worry about. Just block the download sources on your router and forget about it!!!

Well considering they haven't released the root yet if it exists.... For the last one. The only people that would know are ones who have been able to test it.. It would be kind of hard for the masses to know the definite answer to that... But allegedly yes the new update will patch that allegedly possible root exploit. That allegedly exist.... That currently I'm sure hundred of tablets are sitting on airplane mode in a desk drawer awaiting for.... So Innoway those who wish to have access roots are paying a price to gain.. Because it is obvious to me the gods are not willing to release yet.

By the way people do do not download either of these on to your Kindle. Your tablet will find them and will apply them anywhere you put them.. So in other words if you have the OTA blocked successfully. And you download one of these onto your tablet it WILL find and attempt update. Which as far as I know is exclusive to this tablet..
Hi, I just need some input about the WifiKill app. I have used this before a lot of times with my other devices but on my stock(obviously rooted) Note 3, I can't seem to see anyone when I scan. I made sure my other device was connected and then scanned for it but nothing. No devices found. Is anyone else experiencing this?
If so, do you have any solution for it? Thanks!

LYZ28E (T-Mobile image) radio is MDM9625_104649.09.05.14R
LMY47D (Verizon OTA) radio is MDM9625_104446.01.02.98R
And the previous builds have even lower build numbers. Pretty sure the T-Mobile image/OTA radio is newer. Not that that makes it necessarily better, to be sure.
So this isn't specific to Tmobile? - Been waiting for this for AGES!!

I can only judge by the filename
LYZ28E: radio-shamu-d4.01-9625-05.14+fsg-9625-02.93
LMY47I: radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.95
LMY47E: radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.98 (This was the Verizon Build)
LMY47D: radio-shamu-d4.0-9625-02.95
While the LMY47x Builds have a radio image of 83.4MB, the LYZ28E Radio is "only" 65.9MB
Not sure whether something missing or new compression algorithm
I'm just wondering where the open international images are at. Isn't very nexus for a us carrier to get them first.

I was wondering the same thing since all Nexus are the same. I am guessing that WiFi calling only works for T-Mobile so any other prepaid carrier that tries to use WiFi calling won't work, and since Google doesn't want any confusion they release it for only Tmo

It seems like it's firmware specific issue. Have you tried to update/flash different roms to see if the issue still persists? Maybe the dev disabled too many things and it's causing incompatibilities.

Can anyone advise on how to proceed with diagnosing and resolving this please?
EDIT: FOUND MY ISSUE, apologies for the lame post.
FYI for those who like me occasionally post before searching in a frantic panic, the issue here was I'd upgraded to 1.19 EX Kernel before going to Patchlevel July 2016.
Yeah, got caught by the same thing. Seems that flar was aware of the issue yet the EXKM still prompts you to download regardless of patch level. You would think that for a known issue the patch level would be checked first.

When you flash July needed roms, have you installed the July Vendor.img as well? If not, download the factory image from Google and pull the img from within the zip. TWRP 3.0 can flash these.
