Obsidian 4.2, after every reboot some icons disappear from TW desktop. They remain in Applications folder and I can drag it on desktop, but only until the next
reboot.
This is because on Froyo some programs by default are installed to external SD card. And after reboot icons for these programs disappear from TouchWiz, maybe it's a TW bug.
Solution: move programs back from SD to internal memory. Froyo's Settings - Applications - Manage Applications app have useful tab named "On SD card" to manage apps installed on SD card.
i posted about this in the macnut r12 thread, but nobody responded. i wonder if it is the tw launcher or the same happens with adw and launcher pro.

Wow, thanks for the fix!! This has been bothering me ever since JFD was leaked.
Omg :thump up ass: no wonder my neocore shortcut has been dissapearing, ohhh im such an idiot.
Fear the beard...
Since we have near 2 GBs for apps, really no need to move apps to SD is there? I mean, this is something I love on my G1 and N1, but I've never felt the need with the Vibrant. I LOVE having so much memory.
I am having a similar problem with CNN News app. The shortcut and app in app drawer itself disappears every time I reboot. The app drawer icon comes back after few mins, but not the shortcut. I saw this thread and thought the app would be on external SD, but it is in internal.

I have launcher pro plus and the battstatt, tjam, audio manager widgets installed. I'm running leedroid 1.8b, when I select launcher pro and set my widgets and custom icons and place the phone into sleep or reboot most of the custom icons have gone and where the widgets were there is a box that says unable to load widgets. Can anyone help. Widgets installed to SD card using apps2sd, would this cause the issue or the Rom. Thanks............sudeki300

move all your widgets to internal memory, this will fix the issue.
Never install widgets onto your SD card.
Hi guys,
I'm hoping someone on this forum can help me with 3 unfortunate issues I've been noticing since I rooted last night. I rooted 2.2 on my Droid X and backed up everything with Titanium backup. I removed a bunch of bloatware but I made sure that everything I renamed from .apk to .bak was "safe to remove" based on messages I read on multiple forums. I am also running Launcher Pro Plus. Here are the issues I'm seeing.
Every time I power down the phone and then turn it back on, I'm seeing the following 3 issues:
1) WidgetLocker - the Alarm Clock v2 tiny clock icon that I have on my lock screen disappears. Also, the Switch Pro Widget (Size 4) that I have on my lock screen also disappears. I can put them back no problem but as soon as I power down and turn the phone back on, they're gone again.
2) Folder Organizer - I have several shortcuts on my homescreen with custom icons. For example, I have a shortcut with an icon that looks like a pair of headphones. Tapping on this icon opens the Folder Organizer shortcut to reveal my music player, Pandora, FM Radio, etc. Everytime I power down the phone and then turn it back on, all of the icons revert back to the default Folder Organizer icon.
3) Anytime I plug in my phone via USB to my computer, Folder Organizer and Widget Locker fail with a force close. This happens regardless of whether or not I have USB debugging checked or what mode it's on (PC Mode, USB, etc).
I tried reverting a few items from .bak back to .apk but it didn't fix either of these issues. Anyone have any ideas? I would GREATLY appreciate it, thanks so much!

Strange! I didn't think I had but they were on the SD card when I checked. Just moved SwitchPro, Widget Locker and Folder Organizer back to the phone and it looks like it solved all 3 issues!!
I can't thank you enough!!!!!!!
could also try rom managers fix permissions.
glad I could help, keep any apps with widgets on phone. I've had that problem before too.

I recently installed CM7 nightly 213 on an SD card using verygreen's size-agnostic installer. This is my first time doing this so forgive me if this is a noob question.
I had a bunch of apps from Amazon that I had already installed on my phone. I installed the appstore on my nook color and I started downloading and installing the apps from my account. However once they are installed, they don't show up in the launcher.
I did look around using the File Manager and found some directories in /mnt/asec that had folders with names that indicated some of the apps I downloaded created them. Inside them there are "pkg.apk" files. If I run that, the app gets installed again and I can then see it in the Launcher.
If I go into Application settings->Manage applications I see them all there. If I go into a specific one and say "Move to SD Card" or "Move to Phone" (whichever option I have), the app will then show up in launcher. I can toggle it back and forth, i.e. SD Card to Phone and back, and it will continue to appear in the launcher.
This isn't really a big deal, but it is kind of odd. Is it a setting I have somewhere, or is this a bug somehow?
What launcher are you using?

If this post helped you don't forget to say thanks!
Just whatever the default one is.
Open the "drawer" by tapping the square icon in the bottom center (at least, it's there by default). Icons for all of your apps will be shown.
Scroll until you find the one you want, then long-press it until it lights up. Keep holding it. Drag it downwards, you'll drop back into the default launcher screen, and you can drag it to where you want it and let go.
This is the basic way to organize your launcher screens.
You can long-press any icon and move or remove it; removing doesn't uninstall.
Good luck!

I have been creating some folders for applications in my app pages - just to keep them organised. Create one called Photo and dropped in Camera and Gallery icons, then created a fe more folders, and suddenly the Folder has disappeared and the icons with it. My Camera and Galery icons are now only visible in the 'frequently used' tab by not the 'All' tab. A reboot has not brought them back. I can use the applications launched from the copy I have on my homescreen, but this seems weird that they have vanished. Device is a stock, unrooted , and no customisations whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated.
I had the same problem, I gave up trying to find a fix and just installed a new launcher (ADW Launcher ex, about $3), if you are looking for a new one I would suggest the new Go Launcher HD (it is free).

Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>TWlauncher and clear data. All your icons will be back and the home screen will revert to stock. Drawback is you have to recustomise your home screens again.

Thanks, I have been trying to figure this out for a couple of weeks.
I have the sample problem. After creating some folders, some icons disappeared.
It should be a bug.
The icon will lost after made a update
Thanks for the solution, a frustrating bug which has made me try out go launcher HD. Very nice and smooth.
I moved some of my apps into the SD card. After reboot, the apps inside the app drawer had a grayed out SD card icon. If it's accessed inside a folder inside the app drawer, it says "App not found". But if access outside the folder or search on top via search, it opens. Anyway to have the icons back and be able to access inside the folders, without moving the apps back to the internal memory? Thanks in advance.
Same for me, that apps which is in sd card after reboot not display icon
