Does anybody know if the backup feature of the dell sync app (by nero) takes image backups or only backs up some of the settings from the phone.
Liked the way the old app took image backups, then if things get bad you can get an complete recovery.
Btw: sucks that they removed calendar, tasks and notes support..

Just wondering what is the fastest or easiest method to completely copy over everything from one vibrant to another as I just got my replacement today. I would love to copy all my apps and settings. Also will I lose all the apps I purchased? Thanks!!

No ideas? I guess I'll just start doing it the old fashion way lol
Your contacts, calendar should be synced to gmail already. Try using mybackup pro or titanium backup for things like app data but I believe you still have to download the apps to your phone again. Purchased apps are saved to your purchase history via gmail

If your are rooted use Titanium Back up. MyBackup Pro is good for things like text.

Yessir, found this all out hehe... thanks though!!!!
Can someone ttell me how to save all my contacts to my sd card so for whenever I switch roms? Or can I also do this on titanium backup?

Is there something wrong with using your google mail account for your contacts? That's how I did it when I tried out different ROMs. So you don't have to have the issue with saving it and restoring it. All you'd have to do is sync your phone with your google mail account.

Everytime I save them and sync and get a new rom I no longer have those contacts but I just backed up everything with titanium

Make sure your contacts are being created under your mail account and not on phone storage.

+5 on wtf is wrong with google?
however... as a criminal throttler (according to tmobile) if I want to flash a rom after a wipe and I am not near wifi my only alternative is to manually restore ****. Why? Because resyncing a **** load of data back to my phone while throttled makes me want to eat my phone in front of a tmobile rep. infuritating! (Its like driving a WWII era moped on the expressway)
but thats one reason why i sometimes need to avoid the gumminess of google. because it pisses off tmobile.
Another reason some people may not use Google for all of their syncing is if they use Google for personal contacts, but still have business/miscellaneous contacts (and their business does not use something like Google or MS Exchange that they can set up a sync for).
Granted, they could set up another Google account for the business ones, but maybe it's not allowed due to corporate IT policy or something. Everyone's usage model is different...
I was out in the middle of nowhere today and had to turn off data, restarted the phone cause it was acting funny. Added a contact and got a list to add it to the phone or account. I chose gmail contact.
Now my contacts seem to be sluggish. I notice it in texting, openning a conversation, the images flash like its lagging to load the contacts images.
Ive restarted a few times and its not fixing it. I send a text in a already going conversation and the contact images flash as though its reloading them, including mine in the "ME" contact
I get a text and the contact images flash, even mine
Something i just remember also. At one point today it seemed the contacts where lost and it only displayed phone numbers, including mine

Ok its not just me then! However, i had not noticed this happening before this out in the middle of nowhere issue today.
I did have a bit of issues getting my contacts to load from similar, after I first updated. I decide to clear all data from the contacts apparently, then just install all the contacts from googlemail. Now it all works fine.
How do you clear all data from contacts? I was thinking remove the account reboot and add the account again.

OK scratch that. I can't remove the account. It wont let me

I just went into phone settings then applications, then running apps then click on contacts and click clear data.
Screw it. I'm gonna reset tonight and redo the whole thing. Clearing that and resyncing did nothing. I just had a moment where I had no contact names listed in texting, just phone numbers. Just before I tried that clearing.

Will you let us know if a reset solves this? I am having the same issue.
Thanks

I reset 351 and just signed into google account, synced and still had the issue. Im back on 318 and looking for a way to disable the update notifacations for 351.
How big is your dialer storage under manage applications? If its over a couple mb's you need to go through your texts and delete the mms/pictures people have sent you. Mine got up to 20mb's at one point, phone was laggy as hell. If you don't care to retain Txt's you could just clear the dialer storage......

same prob here. this "improved" suxx0r big time!
Tried 354 and same problem. I don't understand why there aren't more complaints about this. Or maybe we are doing something wrong?

are you restoring your apps and whatever after update from titanium backup? I noticed the issue after updating from titanium backup, before i ran this just after i'd updated the contacts where working fine. But obviously I needed to update all my apps, after i'd ran the titanium restore it all went wrong. Maybe try restoring you contacts through titanium again see if that sorts it out?
I do not restore anything. I use appmonster pro to reinstall all of my apk's and sync to google for my contacts. The only thing i import is bookmarks for browser. I do all of the same stuff with 318 on 2 sets and they dont have the problems
streakmod 1.9 is very stable and is pretty quick with the perfmod on, maybe try that?
Oh really I think titanium backup is the best thing I've ever purchased on the market, would have been gutted if I'd lost all my angry birds high scores!
I face the same problem.
I think this started form the 2.2.2 version.
is there any program like kies?
mainly for contact back up or edit ,
There are plenty of apps to backup contacts. I don't know why you'd ever want to use Kies though, so I can't really offer something that's like it.
There is also myPhoneExplorer:
http://www.fjsoft.at/en/
When i backed up and restored my contacts with Kies, i recognized that the resolution of the caller pictures was reduced dramatically. Maybe a misconfiguration or maybe fixed in newer releases (?)
To backup my contacts i use the builtin feature save to/restore from SD card. This saves everything except the call groups. And be sure to check that you don't import your contacts to your google account when you restore the contacts from SD card
thanx i will try it
You could always try the ever popular "mybackup" from the market...

Why not just sync with google?
Always backed up in real time.
Or am I missing something.

Not everyone likes to have his/her contacts uploaded to Google
True. I was thinking that, but somehow I think Google gets them anyway.

I'm trying to root my Nexus 4. I got the tool for it (which seems to have a backup feature) but I was wondering what the best thing to do is so I can get my phone exactly the way it was before I rooted and cleared the data without too much trouble. Again I want to have everything back including the apps, SMS, pictures, app data.
Thanks!

Carbon will back up apps and app data (does NOT require root), Google takes care of the settings. As for pictures, just attach them to a computer via USB and copy them over.
Thanks! Anything for SMS Backup? I've found a few apps but what is commonly used?

The app i mentioned in my first post also backups SMS and contacts.
I usually use Super Backup : SMS & Contacts it works great to backup contacts / sms / call logs / Bookmarks / Calendars. By default it backups to the internal storage. Just copy those files to your computer. After you finish rooting/unlocking, copy back the files to your phone and restore it using the same app.
