[Q] Reverting back to US baseband - Streak 5 General

So I have an AT&T Dell streak, with a rebelsim so it will work with tmobile. I just installed the new official 2.2 update successfully using a slightly altered version of this guide:
http://android.modaco.com/content/d...l-official-dell-2-2-upgrade-pkg/#entry1481120
which is great! I got to try out 2.2, and I already can't wait for a custom rom with a better UI.
But for now, It would be great if I could revert back to a baseband that actually works with t-mobile.. So, I guess I have a few questions.
First, is it possible to change the baseband of my streak without reinstalling a new rom? My guess would be no, but if there is a way I'm very interested.
Secondly, If I want to revert back to say, 2.1 UK release or the 2.2 custom leak, can I go about doing it the way I would if I had, say, 1.6? Or am I out of luck until someone makes a new recovery image that can handle that?
Anyways, thanks for the help, Brian

try 00 baseband eu version. i use t-mobile without rebelsim and works fine, even in 2.2 android.

And you streak is locked? Also, I searched around for changing basebands, and I've seen switching from 21 to 00, for both US and EU, but none for switching from US to EU. Thanks for the help!

Oh I just noticed, you live in the Netherlands, so I'd imagine t-mobile is a little different over there.. Not sure though, I'm in the US

not much difference. only in the frequencies.

my streak is totally unlocked. i can put any simcard in it and it works. also in belgium, germany, france and spain.
hence i wondered where the need for a rebelsim rise up.
from what i can tell you is that at&t have a different radio rom which de-activates some carrier frequency and they have a carrier lock on the thing.
so what you would need is a radio rom with all options and something to remove the carrier lock. probably moving to another baseband isnt going to solve this. one can select the frequencies used in this emlist engineermode app. but if there not in the radio rom these wont work.

Can I flash ATT 31-US baseband > Dell Unlocked 00?

Hi all
I am sure this question has already been answered, but I can not find it, either here or at Modaco. There are threads for the European basebands 21>00, but I can not for the life of me find the US equivalent.
Obviously, I want to get the unlocked Dell baseband for the 2.2 ota update, plus the features that ATT are sure to lock out.
Is there a walkthrough for this? Or at least, a link to the official rom?
Thanks
I would like this too
I am interested in doing this as well. I am guessing ATT will change the market, and will also not have the hotspot feature.
Good question...I'm sending back my locked AT&T Streak so I can re-order an unlocked US Streak once they are available in a week or two. If I could just flash it to the unlocked baseband that would fix everything.

Sorry a bit off topic...
dude that seems like a lot of hazzle why not just call ATT and ask for the unlock number?
If its warranty then I said nothing

Because even if I get an unlock code the 2.2 version that will be pushed out to this phone will still have to be the version approved by them. So that will probably mean no tethering built in. I would rather have 2.2 without AT&T's hands all over it.
This can be done.
I have the official dell 2.2 running on my ATT locked phone. Here is how it can be done, but it wasn't easy and I would not recommend it to a novice.
I am not responsible for any damage you do to your phone, do this at your own risk.
I first tried to flash right too the new firmware and a system image from another forum post, that didn't work and messed up my phone, so I used instructions here hxxp://android.modaco.com/content-page/315825/bricked-streak-after-update-to-2-1-and-rooting/page/48/# to get my phone to O2's 1.6, and then upgrade to O2's 2.2. These instructions also have you on the 21 baseband.
I then used instructions and a download from DJ Steve's post here hxxp://android.modaco.com/content/dell-streak-streak-modaco-com/323484/2-2-out-for-us-bets-streaks/ to flash my firmware and a system img and a boot image, and now my ATT locked streak is at 00 firmware and running the official dell 2.2 froyo build. I don't have to worry about ATT locking my apps, and I also can install apk's that aren't from the android market.
Hello all. I just ordered my Streak today from Rogers, which I believe is ATT's northern brother so to speak. Why can't we just run Vanilla Android 2.2 on our Streak's?? It was my understanding that once full root was achieved it was a matter of porting the OS to our device. Now, im no dev so im probably talking out of my a$$ here, but its been done on the HTC HD2 which is a freaking Win Mobile phone! So why can't someone, say, port the Nexus One 2.2 rom over to the Streak?? Man this stuff confuses me. Is there an "Android for Dummies" text out there?
Yes, I am running the 00 BB and the Official Update. http://android.modaco.com/content/d...how-to-install-official-dell-2-2-upgrade-pkg/
If I do this to make my at&t streak essentially an unlocked dell unit because of the 00 baseband, will I still automatically get update notifications in the future when they are released for the unlocked models? or if an update for like 2.3 ever comes out will we need to manually find a way to install that update on the phone using like fastboot because the phone has been modified from an at&t model to an unlocked dell one?
Basically I just want to know if the automatic download and install notifications for new software (gingerbread) that may come out later will still work and it would just give us the unlocked dell version of the software instead of the at&t one?
Thanks Homiss
I'm giving that guide a go now.
Will post back later
When I go to flash the 6267 build I get to the recovery and tell it to do software upgrade via Update.pkg and then it goes to a black screen and stays there. Nothing happens after that. I have gone through the process on http://android.modaco.com/content/d...l-official-dell-2-2-upgrade-pkg/#entry1481942 5+ times now trying to get it to work. I had a 1.6 US AT&T streak. flashed to O2 1.6 just fine then this issue.
A big thanks to homeiss
Followed the instructions posted over at Modaco and flashed the Official 2.2
Dell Streak - US ATT (Unlocked by ATT)
-- Was on O2 - 2.1 (for about 3 weeks after using the homeiss guide for upgrading/downgrading)
Today:
--- Followed the instructions to downgrade to O2 - 1.6 (4399)
--- Followed the instructions to get 00 baseband and 1.6 (6267) flashed
--- Followed the instructions to get 309_00_00 - 2.2 flashed

I was finally able to get mine working as well. Some things I like about froyo and some things I don't. I miss the notification bar and menu bar from 1.6. Stage isn't that great.

i was going to upgrade too with this package untill i realised that there is a european and an american version. the difference in here lies probably in the radio frequenties used/enabled. with the engineer app one can enable these again so that shouldnt be much of a problem. have no idea what else is different.
edit: seems eu version has few apps more and radiofrequencies are different.

Hello fellow Canuck
I was on O2 - 2.1 (8105) with a baseband of 21
Using the pages suggested by Homiss, I have managed to get to the O2 1.6 build (4399).
But even though I can modify system files after using Universal Androot, I can not get su?! I have used a few different terminal emulators, my preference being connectbot and they all report 'permission denied.
Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong? I am stuck with 4399 at the moment which is slow, and has the flashing led issue! very uncool...

i've no idea (i want to find out too XDD dunno wht have changed)as this is an unlocked version, and my streak is bought unlocked so i only have 318 ver on it apperently it's a bit better than the 318 ver as some bolted apps are gone... i've never tried 319 as its an o2 locked ver if i'm not wrong
ps this is a 322 ver which is 11-EU build for hong kong unlocked retail streak
At .least it removes the "daggling notification bar" bug.
is english a language in it? can it be used in the states?
It started in traditional Chinese when flashed, but you can change the language immediately along the initial setup process.

Sorry i'm on 318
and actually My Streak is from at&t and I unlocked it with the code then I flash the O2 rom to my device
Hesitate to upgrade .. looking forward to 2.3 but no hope right?
Anyone Please upload stock recovery to flash the new firmware !!
I didn't have one
I flashed with the attached recovery. I like this rom, seems a little smoother than 318 thus far.
It installs in Chinese but you just need to touch the bottom right corner when it boots to change to English.
My Streak is the White Best Buy version, unlocked.
Right, it little bit smoother than 318.
And Google pinyin chinese input method is back!
CPU idle speed is 384Mhz thats mean more power juice. lol

so the radio and everything else works ok for US ATT?
thinking of flashing this evening if the answer is yes.
how about with europian unlocked one ??
I just loaded the 322 package. I have to go through and make my changes.. but wifi and data work fine on it.
gotta update my framework-res.apk and services.odex
titanium backup restore
load armani font
exchange accounts..
and then should be back in business. Will let everyone know how it goes, I have been running 318 without issue for about 3 weeks.
Interested to see the build number for the att release coming out soon.
I run mine on the Telstra network (850) with no problems. Running LCD density 240,with no FCs as yet. I have ORD though so I imagine I'll go back to Steve's ROM soon... it's good to have a break from FCs for now though.
Not the biggest fan of the new keyboard because of the Chinese but that's no issue because I use the Gingerbread keyboard.
What is the best way to update to this? I tried just updating the package and as a zip file but neither works.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I wonder if it fixes the FC (sometimes) when hang up a call....
So my impressions so far...
I was able to edit the services.odex for theming.
I AM UNABLE to theme the framework-res.apk without borking the 322 OS. Tried a few different ways. Got the kitchen to work, but all apps would FC on me.
Once the crap is removed, 322 appears to be noticeably zippier then 318. I am going to hold on to it for a few days and let everyone know.
I won't be pleased without a real batter percentage meter or a black taskbar.. but will see. Maybe someone else can figure out the issues with the framework-res.apk
I have made some headway with the theming on 322. The only way i can get it to work is the following
1. take framework-res.apk and run at circle kitchen
2. export edited framework-res.apk
3. overwrite graphics you want carefully.
4. edit the statusbar_expanded for font color
5. go back to circle kitchen make a flashable zip
6 . load with streakmod recovery.
took many hours to get this to work... the above is the only way i was able to do it.
I am giving up on 322... have that notification issue where it just phantomly appears...
going to try dj steve rom now for the first time.

Removing branded start-up logo? (Samsung Omnia 7)

Hi all, new here
I'm in Australia with the Samsung Omnia 7.
I bought phone online from someone who won it in an Optus competition (Optus being the carrier here).
The phone is unlocked to any network but for about 3-5 seconds upon the phones startup, there is a branded Optus logo that is displayed.
I want it GONE.
What's the best way to do this? I'm running the original firmware, not the new leaked one. I'm also not game to flash to the leaked newer firmware as Samsung hasn't released it officially and I've heard some Aussies have had some issues after doing it.
What's the safest way I can remove this start-up logo branding? Thanks!
change to a different firmware, vol up+camera+power button > download mode> samfirmwares.com firmware(unbranded)! Thats currently the only possibility.
What about by editing a registry entry or something?
I'm not prepared to "upgrade" to that firmware until Samsung releases it (if they do).
They probably haven't for a reason.
try chevron unlocker, install registry explorer search and share!
Is chevron unlocker going to change something about my device I can't reverse? I want full control of any testing I do.
sorry for late reply, the firmware file consists of lot parts (Phone, csc, eboot, pda), modifying a specific file in the archive may remove the startup logo.Just search wiki for answers about the significance of each part.Or better still, wait for the update release by MS see if it changes anything! Chevron won't help!
Most users have upgraded to the firmware available at samfirmware.com I too running omnia 7 t-mobile uk version unbranded by downloading I8700XENJK1. Have had no issues so far!
Any updates on this with new unlocking methods etc..?
I'd really like that start up pic gone if I can!

No, like has already been said, the only way to get rid of this is to re-flash the device. You should be able to only flash parts of it though which would leave the OS (and all apps, settings etc) intact. I'm guessing it's the bootloader image that includes the logo you're seeing, so would start there.

For now it is. Even with WinMo 6.5 we had to flash the 2nd start up screen. Then we had full access to the core of OS. Right now we dont. So only way to get rid of it is to flash a brand free rom issue by samsung and not a carrier
Any updates on this now?
Anyone know a registry key that is associated with the start up logo?

There IS NO registry key for this. The boot logo is displayed long before the OS has even started booting.
I've also installed the firmware from samfirmware.com and I've had no issues at all. I've managed to update to Pre-NODO and NODO without any pain (apart from having to use the Hungarian Hack to get NODO early).
I've seen no downsides from my perspective.
The only risk I can see is that no carriers will have tested WP7 against this firmware until it's officially released by Samsung.
if you have a 4.10.1.9 bootloader, there's no possibility to change your rom....forget it.
right now, this bootloader fail to upgrade... no download mode ability at omnia 7

Hello everyone, Im new to the site. I too purchased, what I thought to be unbranded, a mobile over the internet that was branded with T-Mobile Germany. Im in Australia. I can use my Optus SIM Card. But what was worrying me is what affects a branded phone (especially from another country) would have on me and my usage, especially with the new Mango update.
Now unless someone can tell me that it really doesnt make any difference to how the phone will work, I want it unbranded for safety sake. That being said, my quote above, This firmware, obviously it sounds custom and not official. If I install this firmware, any Windows Update up until this point (Not Mango), will it still install via zune? and will it take on the Mango update when thats out?
Thanks guys

I believe samfirmware just releases leaked firmware. They are therefore all "official" in a sense and the unbranded ones should just be firmware for the unbranded devices.
If you're using a branded phone, the official updates will roll out when the original carrier certifies it. Apart from that and the boot branding, there shouldn't be many differences.

Branded won't make any difference to your experience. But you can flash the unbranded ROM it's easy enough and you should still get the Mango update.

[Q] Going from AT&T 2.2 TO Official 2.2

My original Streak was 1.6 which I was able to move to the official version of Froyo easily with QDL tool. I recently sent it in and received a replacement that had AT&T's crippled 2.2 on it. I really liked the official. Stage was better and I had hotspot and tethering. Now I don't. I have looked for a way to get the 00 base band from 31 while already at froyo but haven't found a clear answer how to do it. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Most stock ROMs available at the Streak section of the XDA wiki.
You want to read this:
Radimus’s Universal Guide to Flashing a ROM
I would suggest that you try baseband 351 for a stock ROM. The Streak links in my signature might be useful.

Sorry
I am sorry to say you have gone from an unlocked or uk streak and now you have a locked streak through you carrier, this is no problem as you still can flash the official rom although you have to downgrade it to 1.6 at&t and then to 1.6 o2 and then 2.1 o2 and then 2.2 o2. Sorry but I haven't got the time to tell you exactly what to do but there are dj steve forums on modacado that you could use skipping the last step!!!
Glad I could help Stevepork
If the replacement Streak was shipped to you with Android 2.2 you do not have to revert to Android 1.6 to install any of the Android 2.x roms.
You can install a 00 ROM on a locked phone. It will not unlock the phone from your carrier, but it will have the features of the unlocked ROM. If the phone you have is carrier locked you will have to unlock it to use another carrier's SIM. I don't have any experience with carrier unlocking, I bought my Streak unlocked direct from Dell.
nameyourflav, what carrier are you with?

[Q] U8180 Rom for New Zealand?

Okay, so I bought the Huawei X1 phone, which is a great little phone.
But, it wasn't long before I started to tinker with it, and in the process I lost the stock Telecom rom and ended up having to flash with an Aussie version.
The problem I'm having though, is that nearly all roms I've found so far will not register properly on the network, and as far as I found out, it's because these all came from 900mhz providers and not the 850mhz like XT.
So heres what I would like somone to do f they are keen enough...
Use SuperOneClick to root their phone.
Install RootToolBox.
Flash with recovery-RA-u8160-v2.3 (you may need a file manager like ES file manager)
Power off then on holding both power button and volume up until recovery menu comes up.
Perform a nand backup of boot, system, and data and then...
Please please please upload the files somewhere for me!
Thanks.
Or if anyone has the U8180 Telecom New Zealand rom, can you please upload?
I've tried getting it from wiki.modaco.com Huawei_Firmware_U8180
But none of the links work, or I can't figure out how to get them working.
You've got the wrong forum mate...This forum section is for U8800 - X5 and what you've got is Huawei Ideos X1 - U8180.
Yeah I know, but for some reason I can't find the right forum?
Able to point me in right direction?
You owe me a beer for this
http://androidz.jimdo.com/roms-x1-u8180/roms-u8180-x1-gaga/#.Tlrayl34K08
Not really mate, those roms are the reason my phone is now stuck on the 900mhz version baseband and not the 850mhz version like I need for telecom.
I'm desperate for the NZ telecom version!
Ups, sorry mate, wasn't aware that NZ is 850mhz.
Can you not change the baseband in *#*#4636#*#* menu?

You are confused, the baseband has nothing to do with the 3G frequency, you cannot change a frequency because it is in the hardware not software.
My question is: did it worked before the update? (im assuming that you are talking about 3G frequency bands)
Sent from my U8800Pro using XDA App
Oh I guess I am confused?
Yes it did work before the update.
And no I don't see an option to change anything in the menu.
How would I go about repairing this?
Maybe contact Huawei NZ? via http://huaweimobile.co.nz
I tried that yesterday.
Got some angry little asian man who wanted to know how I flashed the phone and was no help at all
Noticed before that the phone model isn't actually U8180, but rather U8180-7...
I'm guessing there may be a hardware change for NZ?
Can anybody point me to more info on basebands and whatnot?
I don't really understand it all, I was under the impression that baseband=operating frequencies?
Why don't you take it back to Telecom shop and see if they can flash it back? I doubt you'll have much luck on this forum as it's for a totally different phone that runs on only 2D and Vodafone in NZ
you'd be fine if the Huawei links weren't broken, all the links I've tried for multiple models are broken. Keep an eye on them they might come right soon.
Flashed it with U8150 firmware for a laugh, going back to shop today :S
hey there -
I've got the U8180-7 NZ Telecom version if you want - uploading it now to mediafire and will post it in a bit.
Will you return the favor ? I need to purchase a couple of these phones in NZ and have them shipped out to me. But haven't found a way to do that yet.. nobody seems to want to ship overseas or even have DHL pick on my expense from their shop..

hey there -
I've got the U8180-7 NZ Telecom version if you want - uploading it now to mediafire and will post it in a bit.
Will you return the favor ? I need to purchase a couple of these phones in NZ and have them shipped out to me. But haven't found a way to do that yet.. nobody seems to want to ship overseas or even have DHL pick on my expense from their shop..
rgds,
pirh
