Is anyone using an X1 and activesync to sync their email with an Exchange server whilst mobile?
I've not have any problems before with other devices but on the X1 when activesync kicks in I sometimes just get a blank page on the phone, other times I get a message that says sync was stopped. It sort of works, I can sync the device and get all my email and contacs but when I try and send an email it sits in my outbook on the X1 and keeps sending it multiple times, which is really annoying. I can't seem to find this issue on the forums so wondering if its something to do with my setup or maybe something on the fantastic vodafone firmware? I have just factory reset the phone and tried it again and I still get the same results so anyone here using it ok, and anyone here with a vodafone x1 using it ok?
cheers
just remembered I had access to another Exchange server. I have tested it on that one and its fine.. so its something with that original server that's causing the issues. It works with other Windows Mobile devices just has issues with the X1. Probably some dodgy config on that server
forgot to post a fix for this
problem was with the new version of Windows Mobile and level of hotfix on the Exchange server.

Good day all
I have set my HD2 to sync with my work email but the problem is that push email doesn't work at all, I have to click on send / receive manually to get my inbox updated. I am sure I did the setting correctly, also I have activated push email.
I dont know why it doesn't work in the htc hd2, my friend has an iphone 3GS and it works perfectly for him, he receives Work emails on time.
is it problem in the Rom it self ? my rom version is 1.48.405.2 (WWE)
can anyone help me please
Have you set the schedule to 'as item arrives'?

yes i did, both peak time & Non-PeaK time set as "as item arrives" even though, it doesn't work
What about when you connect your HD2 into your pc via usb and let it connect via activesync, do you then get your emails?

I had tried to connect it via USB cable, in the begining of the connection when windows mobile device center sync with the HD2, it receives the emails but if the sync process stopped and I kept it connected for a while during that time I cant receive any new email on time and the inbox will not be updated unless I open windows mobile device center again and click on the Sync icon and after it sync again the inbox will be updated.
this mean even when I connect it via usb , it will not receives any new emails on time. it will only receive during sync process
Even though my push email is working i'm not convinced its working 100 percent of the time but i have always put this down to it being my push email provider's fault. Are you trying to use the GMail push email service? I ask because that is notoriously unstable. Can you try another push email service? Maybe GMail's sevice if you are not already using it?

Hi - I have the push email working fine with my employer's Exchange server, using HD2 with 1.48 ROM, so it should be possible to make it work.
One suggestion - delete the current Outlook account in Windows Mobile Device Center, and delete it from the HD2 as well. Then create the Outlook account again, making sure to do this on the HD2 disconnected from Windows Mobile Device Center, i.e. using the HD2 standalone over wireless or 3g connection.
You might want to unselect Calendar and Contacts sync until you have email sync working. You can configure the sync for them again afterwards.
This is just my personal experience but I have found it much more reliable to initiate the Outlook setup standalone from the phone. Good luck !
Jon.

thanks Jon. I will do as you suggested and hopefully it will work.
I will advise later.
I have the same problem. My device was v1.43.
updated to 1.48, push didnt work.
updated to 1.61, push email still doesnt work for me. My exchange server is from the company i work for too. Many other employees use Blackbery Bolds and they keep receiving mails as they arrive but i have to send/receive.
yes i chose the option to receive `as items arrive`.
go get Flexmail...fantastic app...specially now that its on sale for US$ 4.97 if you buy from WebIS site direct
Have you tried to configure your exchange account directly in ActiveSync on your phone ?

Yes, I configure it from my phone.
but actually not from activesync, i configure it from the email tab in htc manila
it seems push email doesnt work on the HD2..
I tried all possible solutions but no chance to solve this issue
Have you tried push mail with Gmail? If it works then it should be incompatibility issue or VPN access that restrict HD2 from accessing the company's email server.
My push with Gmail works perfectly. And I didn't setup using ActiveSync.
>>it seems push email doesnt work on the HD2.
I guarantee it does, I've both an iphone and HD2, whilst making the transition from iphone to HD2, both phones have the same email account configured (zarafa a linux replacement for exchange server with z-push ) and emails arrive more or less simultaneously to both devices.
Maybe you'd like to post your email settings and i'll compare them to my own.

It does. Just try and config a Gmail Exchange account in Active Sync, it should work. If it doesnt, there's a problem with your phone.
Got the same problem. And also running before same mailbox with a iPhone. (works great). Same mailbox is now also running on a iPod touch.
Push doesn't work, from the beginning. My outlook account is from a hosted exchange server. I'm gonna try to remove and perhaps try with another mailbox (never used by iphone/ipod).
Update: Did some tests. With another provider (T-mobile) it works. With KPN Hi it doesnt. Seems like some providers doesnt support SSL.
This is getting frustrating. I rooted my hero and installed the Damagecontrol 2.0.8.1 ROM specifically because I figured that 2.1 fixes the issue with sending mail via Exchange. The phone still does not send mail. It at least gives an error message, but the message is completely devoid of any real info.
Does anyone have any way to get the phone to send email? I can't believe that this has not been fixed in a whole year.

Did a search on this forums only and came up with 7 threads.
Mail Exchange
I didn't read any as I don't use exchange.
But you might want to start there.
If that isn't enough, try search the whole of CDMA.
Thanks,
Bubba.
P.S. might try posting in Damagecontrol dev thread also.
None of those threads mention anything about the sending issue.
I can't believe no one else is using exchange sync.

I am using exchange on Fresh 2.0d with no issues. My exchange server is running exchange 2003.
I have mail and contacts sync'd through exchange.
I'm having the same issue on my Exchange server. It has to do with plain text, if you reply to an email I bet it works. You're probably running something like Mail Marshal which is blocking the email. After you've sent a new email check the sent on your Outlook, and you'll see it's there. It's this leak because it worked fine for me on 1.5
It has to be your specific exchange server setup. I'm using Exchange Server 2007 via ExchangeMyMail and no issues.
I use both a 2003 server and a 2007 server and I have no issues sending or anything. Biggest issue I have is that GAL doesn't come to the phone, I have to search to find names instead of browsing a list.
I agree it has to be your particular setting. Have you tried checking/unchecking the ssl connection option? I think I recall reading that you could receive but not send depending on that option and how your server ia setup.

I have had no problems with the 1.5 or 2.1 software in connecting to my exchange server. What does your mail administrator say? They could easily pull the server log files to see what is going on.

Additional research shows that it is a problem specifically with HTC devices. They are not properly implementing the protocol.
The app is setting the "Content-Transfer-Encoding" to "utf-8" which is invalid.
My mail server is Zimbra 6.x, which uses the Exchange 2003 protocols. My guess is that the true Microsoft servers either have specific support for the non-compliant HTC devices, or just happen to work because Microsoft isn't closely following their own standards (which happens more than one would think).
Looks like there is an unofficial patch to work around this specific issue.
Maybe some enterprising person can fix HTC's buggy app for them and include it in a custom ROM. I really like the HTC mail app otherwise.

do you have access to this unofficial patch. I'd like to try it out.
From what I've learned, this isn't specific to HTC, it's an Android thing. There was only partial support for security policies in 1.5 and now more complete support in 2.1. I've been successfully sending/receiving Exchange emails, contacts, and calendar items (sending and accepting) in both 1.5 and 2.1.
In 1.5 I had to have the Exchange admin change the mobile device support setting to allow all devices. In 2.1 he was able to change it back and my Hero then enforced a security policy that made me enter a PIN every time I unlocked my phone.
There were some general Android-specific issues before, but this is specific to HTC's broken mail application.

All of the info and the patched file is there.
I am the Exchange 2007 admin here and I've never had an issue with my phone, on 1.5 or on 2.1 now. Both Damage's and the Fresh roms work fine to sync mail, contacts, and calendar items. I can send and receive just fine.
The global address list will not show up as a list, you will always have to search. That's the way it is implemented in OWA.
I would think that if you are not using Exchange Server, but someone else's implementation, it's not HTC that's at fault... It's more than likely the faulty implementation of the exchange clone.

I am using an Exchange Server that patch above isn't something I can use. I can receive emails, reply and forward but here's the zinger. when I compose it sends and the program known as mail marshal see's the email and stops it from sending. But when I go to my computer look in the sent folder the email shows up immediately. We've set Mail marshal to low and apparently the issue is with the Mail Format, and since I'm on 2003 the mail app doesn't let me change this option. I used Touchdown to see if this was the case, and BINGO I was able to compose without issue. Now I don't like the functionality of touchdown very much so I refuse to use it. Do you guys know of a workaround to change the mail format that's grayed out in the settings?
HTC's implementation is obviously wrong, as indicated by the details that have already been listed.
It looks like Exchange Server is either not checking for valid message headers (which doesn't surprise me), or is specifically allowing the invalid Content-Transfer-Encoding header.

I see a different error, but my error is with MailMarshal. Does anyone deal with MailMarshal?
I ran into this issue at work with MailMarshal. You need to add an exception into MailMarshal to allow incorrect types through.
I did this a few months ago so I don't remember off the top of my head exactly where the change was made. (Not at work right now)
I'll let you know if I remember.

This is what I had to do to get it working.
sorry...can't post links yet.
Go to mailmarshal site: m86security dot com
click on support and search for Q10166.
Read that article, it should help if you want to implement it.

Thanks I'll do this when I get to work tomorrow.
After destroying my HD2 accidentally I received a Streak after claiming for a replacement (gold insurance). I was running Android on the HD2.
Disappointed to find it's only Android 1.6, I understood it came with 2.1 installed with a Froyo update imminent.
It's very important to me that I have my contacts, email and calendar syncing with my zarafa server (hosted on my website and managed by me).
It was a real downer to find activesync is not enabled on the Streak but at least there was touchdown to use for a trial period.
I filled in the correct details but no matter what I did Touchdown couldn't connect with my server, I kept getting an error (from "Refresh Activesync Settings") something about Policies and an error ":200" (I think as the problem is now resolved).
I could find the odd thing about this error after googling it, but no reports of fixing the problem.
After many hours of searching I decided to update my zarafa installation to see if that fixed the problem (I'm running 4.20) but before that I thought I'll upgrade z-push (easy bits first).
One upgrade of Z-push later, and a restart of zarafa and touchdown works a treat (contacts not showing up in the phone's main contacts but I assume that's just a setting).
In a nutshell if you get this error and youre using z-push try using 1.4.2 as that's what fixed it for me.
Hopefully this will help someone.
For me I had to set "loose-provisioning" to true for it to work with Touchdown.
But you should really think about upgrading Zarafa as there were several enhancement regarding Z-Push.

Probably, but the version I'm running offers everything I need and I'm a big believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it .
I do know my version works fine with Froyo.
Having said all that I also like to tinker, and just backed up the db so maybe I'll have a shot at upgrading next week.
Hi,
I am using HTC HD2 with XBmod-Yuki Build 8107.
i want to setup Outlook on my phone but its giving me the following error
"There is a problem with the certificate. Error code: 80072F0D"
I downloaded the Root CA certificate from my PC and installed it on the phone but the error persists.
Can anyone help?
Regards,
On every ROM for my HD2, I have to install 2 certificates from my Exchange Server. I forward them to my Hotmail Account and installed them, after this everything works fine.

which 2 certificates? I installed the Root Certificate from my company exchange account . The other one?
Regards,
I have two, one is from the Certificate Server (Root CA) and the second one is for my Exchange.. I dont know how to explain..
i never tried exchange server . can anyoen shed somelight to me ?
still struggling with Outlook Exchange setup... funnily it connected once, downloaded a number of emails and then went back to the same error.
Can't figure out what went right for a brief period before going wrong again
Help please.
regards,
I never had any issues until Ultrafruit came alone, what I find now is that whilst I get the error is does actually download and sync with exchange, bit of a pain but it works, on the initial setup, tell it to download everything, then when it fails roll back the sync to only the last 7-14 days
Exchange can also fail if...
A your time zone and date isn't setup correctly
B you have a corrupt email in your inbox ( it will look ok, and will display fine but something in it is broken that you cant see)
C you have a email in your inbox with a HUGE attachment
D Cert errors, although as I said, mine was working with Xbmods rom

The error is very much a certificate error, im not 100% sure but i don't think its just a case of getting the cert off the exchange, you need the Root cert to who issued that cert.
basically there needs to be a trusted chain of authority and WP is having a fit because it cant see that chain,,,,
i think
