Frozen at boot? - Streak 5 General

OK after attempting an update, I got the Dell logo, then the logo goes away, then the backlight and the LED's stay lit but nothing happens on the phone.
Did a restart and selected factory reset, and comes back to the same point.
What do I do to get past this?
** UPDATE ** cancel the red alert...
WHat I did to fix this.
1. copied the streak*00.pkg to mem card and renamed it to Update.pkg
2. pulled back and battery, waited 2 mins.
3. inserted battery, replaced back, held vol up/down buttons and powered device
4. selected option 1 to update via SD card.
5. device went into emergency recovery mode and booted several times and recovered.
6. am back up and running

[Q] Bricked Ideos S 7

Hi there.
yesterday my pad told me there was a new version , so i updated it (at least tried)
Now when i start up my tab i get the following:
Enter into fastboot mode
You can press HOME + BACK to reboot device.
so i wated,, and waited and nothing happend when i press HOME + Back the device will restart but i will get the spalsh screen and aftrewards the same text again..
i checkd the form and found no body with this issue, i tried to re-install the firmware.
so i took the micro SD card Fomrated it (first time FAT 32 second time FAT) and put the dlload folder with the told version on it..
took my battery from my device placed it in again and pressed power button, device starts up and i get the same message again, and NO progress bar ..
please help me with this issue....
Bricked IDEOS S7
If you have not already got your S7 back to working condition you may try the following. I faced similar situation(s) some time back.
Requirement: External sdcard formatted in FAT32 and with dload directory with firmware installed on the unit. Use Indonesian stock firmware Froyo 2.2.2. Search around and it is easy to find. Make sure one of the files is unlmt.cfg and not any other. No glitches and all modules work fine. Since I have been experimenting with different ROMs and some personal mods I have flashed so many times, got lost and started all over again.
It is not necessary to have a battery installed but the charger must be connected.
1. Press Back and Power button together to startup and release Power button after few seconds. You should see a white bar. Release Back button.
2. After a few sec disconnect power charger.
3. Reconnect the charger. Press power button. You will a stable IDEOS for few sec and flashing will start.
At times you may have to repeat more than once to get it going. The blinking should be slow. If suddenly flashing stops after few bars or blinking frequency jacks up disconnect and try again.
Best of luck.

[Q] No sdcard can I still restore to stock???

I have a old honeycomb version and was good until I found the microsd card slot was bent so I can't boot any sd... then I wiped data/cache and it will only show the setup wizard and I can't click the android guy. I then followed the directions in various posts trying to use the 8 failed boot attempts and format system but to no avail. NOw it won't boot at all... Can I use adb to flash a stock system boot and data img?
I read somewhere something like this, you can try it
1. turn the Nook completely off
2. turn it on and immediately on seeing the first message "the future of reading" press and hold the power button until it turns off again
3. repeat this 7 more times for a total of 8
4. on the 9th time, let the Nook completely reboot without holding the power button - you will see a message saying "installing a software update..." and after this everything will be back to factory new (the system will be totally restored)
If you're missing the timing, I believe there is a way to use a script with adb to cause 8 fail boots and force the restore. I can't find it off hand, but I'm sure if you do some searching it'll come up.

You don't even have to count....Just keep doing the interrupted boots until the nook tells you that it is resetting.

Phone messed up?

Try this I did and it worked to get mine booting after a bad update.
I messed around with it using several methods of getting it to boot into download mode until I finally got it to do it. I think I left it plugged into the USB, powered it down until I saw the charging screen, then I proceeded to play with the different ways to hold the buttons to get it to download mode. If you are persistent enough and read a little on booting methods to get bricked phone into download mode you will succed if not then your not for the world of trial and error... the main thing is do the first steps I said before until it works
1. Get into Download Mode (WITH THE PHONE PLUGGED IN) by following the steps below
*Turn off the phone until you get to the charging battery screen (keep in mind, your phone is currently PLUGGED IN)
*Press volume up and down, and power all at once.
*As soon as the screen turns black, release your power button.
2. Unplug phone from USB
or try
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
any how try try try until it works
Once in download mode
Get your files together for your phone, and use Odin 1.85.
Plug into Odin and make sure it shows yellow and its added!
1. Now if your files have like 3 files and the exact .pit file for your phone
I found mine here
http://www.droidevelopers.com/showthread.php?11722-Download-OPS-amp-PIT-files
2. Click the PIT button and browse to your exact .pit file for your phone *It should now have added a check in the re-partition box under the options area of the Odin window. If not CHECK IT!
***If you don't have your .pit don't worry about this unless you suspect, or have a bad partition
3. If you have just 1 file just click the PDA button and load the file. If you have 3 then you will load the PDA file in PDA, the Modem file into PHONE, and the CSC file into CSC, there are way too many phones to link all the files so get you stuff together!
4. Now hit start.
5. When done and the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever... immediately unplug the battery from the phone to shut it down.
6. Now put it back in and start it in Upload mode by pressing Vol Up, Home at the same time then the Power button.
7. As soon as the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever let go of all buttons and using the Vol Up down Choose the Clear Cache option and go through and make sure you factory reset it if you can just for good measure.
8. Reboot
9. Now when the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever take out battery again to power off
10. Now put it back in and start it in Download mode by pressing Vol Down, Home at the same time then the Power button.
11. Once in download mode Hook up to Odin again and flash it with a root kernel for your phone. Do not ask me just find it. I did it took time but I got all the files together over several days of reading and collecting the correct ones.
12. When done and the phone shows the first sign of starting up IE Logo or whatever... immediately unplug the battery from the phone to shut it down.
13. Now put it back in and start it in Upload mode by pressing Vol Up, Home at the same time then the Power button.
14. In most roots you will now have a advanced or mounting options and more options to use.
15. I cleared the Cache again, Cleared the Davilik Cache, Went into a option and actually mounted the cache formatted the Cache.
16. Use the option now to restart the phone...
And mine started up installed the apps and I am up and running, nice and smooth and no issues so far
I hope this helps out someone whos just about to go off the deep end, as I was there and patience and trial and error came up with this step by step way to recover mine. Thank me by hitting the little thumbs up THANKS button below this post.
And if your so happy your phone is up show your appreciation by buying me a Pepsi

Can't access recovery, stuck in Bootloop (SOLVED)

LS980 ZVD
I installed the SplitWindow maker mod from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/mod-splitwindow-mod-maker-g2-stock-roms-t2818522) and and got hit with a bootloop. I tried to reboot to recovery but can't seem to get in. While plugged in the phone refuses to shut off, but when unplugged, I can get it to shut all the way down. From there, I press VolDwn+Power, wait for the LG logo, release, press VolDwn+Power again and hold. It vibrates twice after a few moments but then doesn't do anything. While holding the buttons it will actually continue the bootloop sequence until around 15-20 secs when the screen just cuts off (I assume this is completely shutting down). I can get into download mode right away but can't get into recovery. I've got the stuff for tot to stock set up and ready to go, but I'd hate to lose all of my pictures and backups and everything.
Any thoughts on how to fix this?
While in download mode does Windows recognize the phone? As long as internal storage is mounted in Windows, you can transfer the files to your PC before factory restoring w/ the *.tot file.

Don't know why, but I got it to drop into Recovery mode.
I held down just the power button for a long time (about 20-25 secs) through the entire power-on to shut down cycle. Even after it cut off, I still held down the power button until it started to reboot again. Once the LG logo displayed, then I held down VolDwn+Power until the screen went blank and the lg logo displayed again. At this point I released and pressed/held VolDwn+Power again and it finally brought me into Recovery.
I read on a reddit or google answer somewhere that you were supposed to hold the power until the lg logo quickly displays (less than a second), then switch to the VolDwn+Power method which didn't actually happen for me here, but inspired me to hold the power down longer than normal.
