I have a Droid X. I recently did a factory reset then upgraded to Froyo. Some of my apps appear in my "app page" and others do not. They show in the market as being downloaded but I can only open them from there. I can't get the icons to show up on my phone. Any Ideas?
Did you try just uninstalling them and reinstalling them?
I did. Still not working. It's more of an annoyance than anything else. I just don't like when a $600 gadget can't do something that's so simple as replace my app icons after a reset. Plus, the apps that I have downloaded since the reset aren't being posted to my app page either.
Have you tried rebooting?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
are you using launcherpro and maybe hid the icons?
I had one app that was hidden in the market the day of the upgrade. The next day it showed up in searches so I was able to download it.

Hi everyone.
A while ago I installed an application called Fake Google Chrome icon.
Ever since I updated it it changes my homepage. Everyone is telling me to uninstall it, but it's not in the Market anymore.
How can I uninstall it if it's not in the Market?
I have an Evo...and I am using Fresh.
Thanks!
Menu -> Settings -> Applications
Find the app, tap on it, chose uninstall
I'd use Titanium Backup. It's a great program. Deleting apps is just one of many features. Some file managers (like ES File Explorer) allow you to delete apps also.

Although everybody is correct, just do what Sph33r said.

Thanks guys for all your replies. I went with using the app called uninstaller. Thanks again
I also just checked I can go to apps in the settings and I can uninstall from there.

I had the app backed up before the new update. So when I noticed that the app would change my homepage, I deleted it and used Titanium backup to restore the one previous to that update. So now I have the Fake Google Chrome (working without changing my homepage) even if its not in the market anymore. Thanks to titanium

everytime i update a new app, it always ask if i want to store it in my sd card..but i don't have one! it's internal memory. is there a way to fix this?
Do you have any file manager app installed? I have seen them ask where you want to install. The OS itself should not ask unless there is an option that I have not seen.

i have astro installed..would that be it? but i use it to browse for files and what not.
I just checked out the app in the market and a new feature is app to sd which is what I was referring too. Check your options in Astro to either set a perm default or disable the feature all together.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
i cant seem to find this feature in the settings.
There are other apps that enable you to move most apps to sd card that generate such notifications. Perhaps google that and/or search for such apps in market and see if you have any of them installed. Also, check any app you have installed that has "app" as part of its name.
great! Found out it was Super Manager. Thanks!
Just wondering. What do you guys freeze or uninstall?

These are what I uninstall*
Any music player that comes with the ROM
Any signed Market or Launcher or Browser (I use newest market, ADWex and Dolphin)
Gallery (I use QuickPic)
Google Voice.apk
Google Quicksearch
Pico TTS
SNSAccount
Any Keyboard (I use Better Keyboard)
Any extra apps the developer put in that I don't use.
*When I say uninstall, I actually pull them out of /system/app and put them in a folder on my SD card, so JIC I want them back for some reason, I can just replace them. Sometimes TBpro won't back up executable portion of the APK, so if you uninstall it, you cannot restore.
These are what I Freeze
Alarm & Clock
Calendar
Device Management
Facebook*
Gmail*
Google+*
Maps*
Any video player (I use Moboplayer and it by far the best out there)
* These four will run in the background whether you have widgets or not, so I freeze and when I need them, I defrost, use and re-freeze.
I freeze
- DSP Manager
- Music (Stock, come with ICS)
- Search
- Setup
Rider, what settings do you use with JD btw? I used to have it on my myTouch 3G Slide, saw some improvement, but instead just turned off data completely unless I needed it.

DELETE THE BLOAT!
Download Root Explorer (i'm not associated with) and go to System/App to remove a lot of the bloatware that came on the phone. I strongly encourage researching what can & can NOT be removed. ALWAYS make a backup. Alternatively, you can use Titanium Backup (free) to uninstall the apps (I only know Root Explorer, it never fails me). Remember, I am not responsible. It will be some time before we have a custom ROM that removes this crap for us.
Here is a list of apps I recently used to remove a lot of bloat (I kept AllShare and ThinkOffice). After you backup, delete, go to settings > Applications > Menu > Filter > Show All and delete the leftovers from the apps, little traces left behind.
In that thread I also saw you can delete data_tmo/games (73MB) if you do not play/deleted The Sims.
Here is a list from the JFD builds (most of these are seen in future versions):
First off all the Standard Apps:
AccountAndSync.apk/odex -> The app in the drawer, not the settings.
AddToHome.apk/odex
AudioPostcard.apk/odex
Avatar.apk/odex -> The app that launches Avatar in the video player.
BuddiesNow.apk/odex
Dlna.apk/odex [Allshare]
FlashPlugin.apk/odex
GoGo.apk/odex
Infoalarm.apk/odex [Daily Briefing]
KindleStub.apk/odex
Layer-samsung.apk/odex
MediaHub.apk/odex
Memo.apk/odex
Mini Diary.apk/odex
MobiTV.apk/odex
MyAccountStub_4-5-10.apk/odex
Myfiles.apk/odex
Sims3_Samsung_Embed_Launcher.apk/odex
slackerradio.apk/odex
Swype-Tips.apk/odex
Telenav.apk/odex
thinkdroid.apk/odex [ThinkFree Office]
vvm-signed.apk/odex -> T-Mobile Visual Voicemail [can be re-downloaded from the market. for some reason that version is the preferred one.]
VoiceRecorder.apk/odex
VoceDialer.apk/odex
Writeandgo.apk/odex
TouchwizWidgets:
Day.apk/odex
DualClock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Calenderclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Feedandupdate.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_stockclock.apk/odex
SamsungWidget_Weatherclock.apk/odex

I have tryed redownloading and installing the ec09 debinged and if i load the ec09 stock deodexed everything works fine. i just hate bing and all the bloat on there. any ideas what to try?

Pay for Root Explorer from the market. Then debloat and debing your phone manually. I can show you how if you buy Root Explorer.
Yea I have root explorer what do I need to do?
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA
In Root Explorer, navigate to /system/app. In this folder you will see a list of all the pre-loaded apps which were installed from the ROM you flashed. To debing, simply find the bing.apk and delete it (or move it to your sdcard if you want a backup). You can perform this same action with all apps installed on your phone. At first, start small. Start with apps you can easily identify by the name or icon. Also, if an .apk file has a cooresponding .odex file, move/delete that as well. You may get constant force closes after removing an app if it is running at the time you removed it. Simply reboot your phone.
WARNING: Removing necessary system apps could cause serious problems. So, start small. If you have a question as to if you can remove a particular app or not, ask in this thread and I'll let you know.

Your son? Starting him off a little young, ain't ya? It's gonna depend on what you want it to do. If it won't be making calls, then dialer tab, dialer storage, and contacts can all go., no internet, the radio can go. So on and so forth. What you gonna give him the ability to do? Then we can tell ta.

OK, I removed a boatload of bloatware using Root Explorer.
Still have a couple issues;
Even though I removed the .apk and corresponding .odex files, restarted phone, I still have these in apps, and all work when opened;
Facebook
IM
Verizon video
VCast tones
And, even though the Bing icon is out of apps, it still opens Bing Search with a long press on the search icon on phone.
Any thoughts on how to get rid of these?
I've went all thru Root explorer and can't find these files anywhere, but they're still on the phone.
Thanks
