[email protected] Show Your Mobile Screen On Your Pc - XPERIA X10 General

I don´t know if it's been posted here before.
[email protected]
But there is a program that can display your Android screen on your PC screen.
[email protected] are the name....
Works fine, so long as there is no videos or games will be showed.
the idea is pretty good, just a shame the fps is so low (0-30 fps)
We need minimum 60 fps. We can hope that there will be better fps with the time.
How it works
It is a simple Java Swing application, delivered as an all-inclusive executable JAR file. Therefore, one can launch it simply by double-clicking on the JAR file, or run the following command
java -jar droidAtScreen-0.3.jar
Here are the link http://lib.ribomation.com/files/droidAtScreen-0.3.jar
The Source code for the program: http://codaset.com/jens-riboe/droidatscreen#source

That's pretty damn high quality. Even zoomed up to 1080P it looks rather good.

! C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\droidAtScreen-0.3.jar: Unexpected end of archive
after i download i recieve this notification whats the meaning of this?
aim using w7 home premium (64-bit)

Just tried it, pretty interesting. Thanks.
@junexyz maybe the file is corrupt, try downloading the jar file again.

heheheeh sorry my mistake i notice it just got only 1.2mb thats why i cant exe. the file it's 3.8 mb all in all... yayssss

how to used it the file don't know how? pls... i got winRAR on my computer.... help... aim not an expert on this... :-(

Err, What's the path to ADB executable?...

mine not showing device
ADB executable whats the name arrrrrgggg

It's simple..
1. make sure java runtime 32bit is installed "JRE"
2. Make sure the sony erricson companion or SEUS "Sony Erricson Update Service" is installed so that the drivers are available.
3. Get the android SDK.. the ABD executable is in there. "ABD.exe"
Copy the droidAtScreen-0.3.jar file into the folder where ABD is.
Or setup the paths to it.
4. Enable USB debugging on your phone.
5. run droidAtScreen-0.3.jar
Enjoy!

Wow, that's really great. Amazing. work I might become a daily user Please improve the FPS and add option to connect via BT or WiFi.

Bluetooth & wifi does not have the bandwidth required to work properly.
A screen of 854x480 pixels is alot of data to to send over usb if not properly compressed
and if you increase comprestion cpu/gpu usage goes up and fps and unit responsiveness goes down.
Bluetooth: 2.5 Mbp/s
Wifi: 54.5 Mbp/s
USB: +-480Mbp/s
Also the fps is limited due to the cpu speed and screen refresh rate.

Good point, haven't really thought about it.
How about a feature that would enable to control our X10s through this app? Doable?

The picture quality is definitely perfect, but the only thing that makes this tool unusable is its FRAME RATE. Even when I set it to max 30 (only in the first version 0.3) it still acts as if it is in 10 or lower. What is this?

Macromedia Flash problem. Fixed...Now with 100% more FUN!

Installed Macromedia 6 and 7 for PPC and tried both of them. None of them work.
I tried opening the SWF's in PIE but it just gives me an error saying PIE isn't associated with .swf
Anyone know how to make these .swf's run?
***EDIT***
I should probably clarify a little more. I have the Actual .SWF file on my storage card. I am not going to any website and load remotely.
Specifically trying to load local from storage card.
***EDIT 2***
Solved my own problem. Look here:

Well, that page is good for information and all, but for those who want instant gratification.
***EDIT 4***
Uploading a fun Flash game that actually WORKS!!! Use your stylus to keep the guy walking.
For better performance Overclocking is kinda neccessary to have a decent FPS and Click and Hold the stylus to change setting like:
View > %100
Quality > Low
Full Screen > On
Don't forget you can hold the stylus down anywhere within the flash to have the WM5 swirly dooley to bring up more options.
Things I need this to do:
- Keep the backlight on while this program runs.
- Always have "Low" Quality selected
- Landscape mode being selectable or always "ON"
Would anyone know how to do that?
Thanks for that, all working - I had the smartphone version of this but not the pocket pc version cheers.
For all those british nostalgics - old bbc2 clock flash attached
I'm just glad somebody found this useful. Heh, I guess I was one of the only ones looking around crazy to play Flash files locally.
Thanks for the SWF as well.
does the flash player work with the pda screens? does it accept inputs....or just for watching swf's?
edit.. ok i read your edits.. the stylus works find....

Webview.exe webview.dll tell me how to get this to work

Can anyone go to this site and download the webview.exe file launch the dll module and show the controls for my security cameras on their pda or pocket pc.
I have tried this on the 700wx and also on the 6800 mogul. I like the mogul much better so I took the treo back.
I can get to this site from a regular size desktop and also my laptop. When you go to the site it asks you to download the webview.exe file and run it. This puts the webview.dll file (module) in the same directory that you downloaded the webview.exe file to; with no problems. It then launches the web interface with a login screen. You login to the server and look at the 16 cameras in real time. When I try with my mogul I get a message that says webview.exe is "not a pocket pc application"
I tried copying and pasting the webview.dll file to my mogul but I don't know where to put it or how to launch the webview.dll module.
the compression I am using to show the live stream is h.264 or I can use mpeg4.

Hmmmmm
I 'm on the XDA's developers site;I just knew all my questions would be answered by now.
Look Guys, I don't want to come off sounding like a pompous idiot who thinks he can prod u guys into doing his homework for him. It's just that I got this 6800 on recomendations that I had read in the forums and I really do want to keep this one.
I have purchased three phones in the past week. I started out with the Treo 755p took it back because it had the Palm OS I was sure that was not going to work, but the Sprint sales guy assured me this was better than the 700wx because in his opinion Palm OS was better than WM5. I played with it for two days reboxed and took it back, I switched it for the 700wx because it has Windows OS the best and newest thing in Palm. He was right; it is, if you don't have a need to see streaming security cameras.
I took it back to another sprint store because the guy had gotten frustrated and says to me He can not switch phones more than once. Hmmmmmm
In the past few days I have been reading the forums; I think it was at Treocentral, or somewhere and I came across one of those articles' "which is better types" TREO or Mogul, I went to the Sprint store in our super mall and I found a working display of the Mogul.
I played with the thing for about two minutes and was blown away. I said to my self I have to get this to work for the security web cams; but not just for the camera's; I want to offer this as a turn key solution to my client...He has a treo 700w. I know he is going to be pleased with this. The size difference in the screen; the sliding keyboard, I am nuts about this thing already....
I'm not talking about jpeg's refreshing every 5 sec; I'm talking live streaming video from 16 cameras with the option to control PTZ's
All I Have to do is get the Internet explorer part on the Mogul, to work with the camera's software request to download and install webview.dll I don't know where to put this file on the Mogul, I don't know how to put it on the Mogul (yet). Ihave only had the Mogul for one day
go to the site, and please help

if the exe was written for desktop windows its not going to run on windows mobile, simple as that, youll have to see if the company that makes the security cameras also makes a pocket pc app for them

And there is your answer.
It isn't a PocketPC application. And you are trying to run it on a PocketPC.
Won't work.
The only occasional exception is .net applications that sometimes work on a desktop and PDA.
What brand of camera are you connecting to? There are some apps out there for network cameras so I may be able to help you.
Good point!

I guess I was thinking about installing the webview.dll and that would have solved the problem. I am not sure about the software for the camera maufacturer they are from China, and not much info to go on...
When I go to the site: HTTP://70.63.106.214/default.ht
I get this msg: "To enable control work: Tools-> Internet Options-> Security-> Custom Level Reset to: low or Download and Install it
When I download and install the file; (webview.exe) it is a executable that unpacks webview.dll ver. 2.0, in the same folder with webview.exe.
I did not realize or I am not sure if the webview.exe is the program interface for the application to work, but now that makes sense. I thought the httpsvr.exe that is running on the DVR PC was the app for the web interface and would allow all this to work on any platform.
I guess if there is a way to decompile the webview.exe and make the neccessary changes to include the pocket pc header information; recompile it, test it, fix it test it again. then this would probably work. There is not enough information on the software manufacturers to begin trying to find a solution for this.
I have absolutly no programming skills. I realize now, that this may be a question for the developer/hack forum.
I would like to give it a try though. So if you can point me in the right direction; or if the Mods would repost this thred in the Dev/hack forum; maybe those guys would probably know what tools I would need to get started in this.
I appreciate all your help and it has made me think about the resolution, and the approach to my problem in a different way. Thanks

They are not Internet Cams; I have the regular BNC connectors that pigtale into a 15 pin video connector that attaches to a PCI camera card 8 cams, I have two of the camera cards installed in each pc. I also have an ATI radeon 9550 with wideo out for the hardware compression of the video signal to the PC monitor this works for NTSC and PAL signals.

New audio switch program for skype and others.

This program is an evolution of the first I made. It will route the audio to the earpiece when an certain program is running.
I put the program here because I have test it in wizard, if people test this in others phones and it works, please post here and maybe move this this thread to an more "generic" forum.
the program MUST be under "\($program files)\audioswitch" folder, you must unzip the contents to this folder.
the configuration file (command.txt) is under this format:
1000
skype
fring
etc
the first line is the delay(in miliseconds) in witch the program will "look" if a program in the list is in the top level window, faster phone, smaller delays, I recommend 1000 ms.
the next 20 lines are the programs you want the audio to be routed to the earpiece(max 20 lines for now).
Again the program is under the "do it on your own risk" and "I am not responsible for anything" licence. And,of course, it is free!! Do not sell it!
It is manly intended for little expert users, as it is still in "beta" fase, hehehe.
How it works:
the program runs in an eternal loop and look for the title of the current window that is displayed for the user in a time interval.
When the program mach the title window with one of the names user configured it it will switch the audio, when the program is not running anymore, the audio will swich back.
Do not launch two or more instances of the program at the same time, could really mess things up. -- se the forum (thanks tucahara)
To stop the program, u must use a process manager.
it would be good if someone could make a cab to install it. -- done see the forum (thanks tucahara)
this is still a beta, I intend to make ajustments as people give feedback.
Thanks,
hope u like.

new aproach to do the switch and now open source, even with an class that others can improve and put in other apps...
Some people complain about me not openning the source of the app, I have just made this way because there was proprietary code inside and I had no time to rewrite it without the proprietary code.
I have made the best I could, and now I had some time and rewrite the app in open source, to those who only complain about it, get the code and make it better instead of complaining!
Thanks for all that encourage me to continue the work and helped the development.
will retire this project for while...
thanks u all.
Audioswitch for Skype
On HTC Touch by Sprint (CDMA, also known as Vogue), audioswitch does switch the audio in the Skype 2.5 windows mobile PPC from external speaker to handset. Unfortunately, the microphone is then also disabled. I hope you'll be able to tweak your audioswitch to resolve this.
Thank you so much for developing this wonderful applet. I'm sure you will have the gratitude of many frustrated Skype windows mobile users.
What really happens is that when the sound output is switched in some phones, the microphone gain changes too. This happens because the phone thinks it is a "normal call".
Most of the times the mic gain increases, but in your phone it must be decreasing. Try to figure out in registry where the mic gain controls are recorded and chage all of then to the same value. I had this issue with my P3301 and solved this way, but there is quite a time now and I do not remenber where are the reg keys to change, but I have found the information here in the forum.
I will try to figure out for other "hack" to solve this issue... thanks for reply.
doesn't work at T-Mobile Compact IV (aka Diamond)
Sound went to loudspeaker....
PS: fring last version working fine with sound at mine phone (without any additional programms). Sound is going to correct destination automatically
I just tried the latest version of Fring, which automatically switches audio to earpiece when call is connected.
The same issue occurs with the new Fring as I described above with your audioswitch program: I can hear audio through earpiece, but microphone doesn't work (or is inaudible).
I couldn't find a tweak or registry hack to correct this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have an idea. Rather than regularly polling to see what the current windows is, why not use a windows hook to monitor windows messages. When you see a message indicating a window has come to the foreground test it against your list of windows and enable/disable audio switch as necessary. Use SetWindowsHookEx and hook for WH_CBT messages. If you are unfamiliar with using SetWindowsHookEx I could supply you with the hooking code and all you would need to do is insert the code to check the window names, enable the audio switch, and disable the audio switch. Or you could send me the enable/disable routines.
Another tip, I noticed that skype places an icon in the notification area during a call. If there is someway of detecting the notification icon that could be another great way to trigger the switch.
Great program though. Works beautifully.
OOOH
If this program works on the new BenQ E72 I'm getting in a couple of days I'll certainly donate!

It is a good idea to use hook, I have not think of it!
I use a proprietary code included in a lib at the company I work for to make the "switch" but it is not different of what u find here in the forum.
Maybe we can make an effort to re-make it with hooks...
so this program must run all the time? after every softreset you have to start it?
is it not easier with mortscript (for example) to make an shortcut that opens skype as well as the audioswitch program? and closes the audioswithc program when you close skype?
I am using it right now and it seems to work perfect:
i used this script after installing mortscript (http://www.sto-helit.de/):
run( "\Windows\SkypeSoundSwitch.exe" )
runwait( "\Program Files\Skype\Skype.exe" )
close( "troca2" )
(see that in my case i downloaded your original program and renamed it to skypesoundswitch.exe and put it in the windows map)
I renamed it so i could remember what the purpose the file had.. changed nothing but the name!
Thanks for the program by the way! it always worked perfect!!
so to sum up the way i have it now (most files included) on my xperia x1:
1) installed skype
2) installed mortscript
3) add skypesoundswitch to \windows\....
3) add skype.mscr to \.... (root)
4) overwrite skype.lnk with the new skype.lnk in \windows\start menu\programs\..
in the way whenever i open skype(.lnk), it opens skype.mscr, this opens skypesoundswitch.exe and than skype.exe... when you close skype.exe it closes skypesoundswitch.exe...
it seems to work perfect.. but hey maybe i am doing something totally wrong here.. than just shout!
by the way, the .mscr and the .lnk files are offcourse edit-able .. so you can put the files everywhere you like..

That works great too. The advantage of this new program is that it will only reroute the audio when skype is in the foreground. You could minimize skype and leave it running, and audioswitch will automatically restore your sound. Get a call and open up skype and your sound goes back to the earpiece.
I will create the code to do it with a windows hook when I get a chance MarceloFB. Please pm me your email address. All you will have to do is insert the code to read the config file, check the window names, and when necessary enable or disable the switch. Or please show me where to find details on how to code this myself. Thanks!
Hat off to both of you and really glad that we will have a much improved solution.

okay! I only used skype to make calls and than get offline so this way did the trick for me! but i have to admit it would be much better when i can keep skype online!
this new program does the trick indeed! it changes the output back when i minimize skype!
But still my question above, you have to start this program on every startup isn't it? what does it do with the battery?

Yes it must be run at startup but placing a link in your startup folder will make everything transparent to the user. I don't think there will be an effect at startup. In it's current form it must check every second (or whatever you set the timeout to), but its only a little bit of code. I am not really sure if that will really have an effect. The more often it checks the faster it will switch when you open skype, but also the more processor use. Check less often and it uses less processor, but there might be a delay in switching the audio. I proposed doing it by hooks though because this would use even less processor. The app will only check when a new window takes focus, rather than just periodically checking. This way it only checks when it needs to and will always switch instantly.
I am glad u liked the program.
I will try to answer most of the questions...
1- JKingDev:
I have though in your idea of using hooks, but if I use a hook, the program will have a loop anyway to check for the messages(hidden loop ;-) ), and it would have to have an "fake window" or something to process the messages. This way we have only one loop, in a very simple command line program with high optimization, so we have to think what is really the best way of doing it... I will pm u as soon I have any time to "program" again. hehe
2- people that uses mortscript with the old "troca2"
I will try to make a way to make this program work the same way as troca2, maybe with an "argc argv", wait the next update.
3- the battery life??
if u notice any battery life decreasing with the usage of the program, configure a bigger delay, maybe 5000ms, it is a matter of adjust the "timming" for each processor. Post your results here so others can find the optimum value for the delay in their phones.
4- have to start the program every reset?
yes, just put it in the startup folder.
maybe someone can make an cab that put the program in the right place and a link in the startup, it would be cool! I dont have an easy program to deal with cabs, and the vs projects for cabs.... I really cant make that thing work!!
well it is only the batterylife i was worried about. but i'll try running the phone this weekend with the program running and doing some skype.. lets see how it turns out!
For folks who have issues of mic on using this program, there is a quick solution for this problem. You can try sjphone. It provides a internal mic volume control. However, the major setback is that it's only working in wm5.
my 2 cents

will check this, but people reported that worked in xperia... and it is running in my P3301... anyway, will check and post an wm6 build if it is the case... check the error file and see if it tells anything.
Other thing, this program uses low level api`s, so your windows MUST be fully unlocked for it to work in wm6.

Ubuntu on the HTC Shift

I've been checking out the stuff on the web about Linux on the shift, found these, pretty interesting. This ubuntu even detects the motion rolling from left to right, and he makes the cursor move around the screen by tilting the unit. Also has csreen rotation working:
http://mobilitysite.com/2008/07/ubuntu-in-a-htc-shift/
another one:
http://pof.eslack.org/blog/2008/04/14/linux-on-htc-shift/
"Once Ubuntu is installed, you get a menu at boot time which lets you choose which operating system to boot, Vista or Ubuntu. Surprisingly most of the hardware is auto-detected by ubuntu, and almost everything works out of the box:
* Audio is working, mute and volume control works using the Fn keys.
* SD card reader is working.
* Adjusting the screen backlight works with the proper Fn keys.
* Webcam is working (you can test it with gstreamer-properties).
* CPU frequency scaling works by default too on the Intel Stealy 800Mhz CPU, you can monitor it by enabling the cpufreq gnome pannel.
* ACPI is working, you can get the CPU temperature using the sensors-applet.
* Screen resolution works at 800×480. I have not tried higher resolutions yet.
* Bluetooth is working.
However there are a few things that require some extra work in order to have them working properly."

Hi
I installed Ubuntu last night as I can't get any other version of Windows (except the memory and space hogging Vista) to install at the moment.
I was very impressed with how much DID work without any fiddling and now I shall spend another few evenings reading exactly how to make the rest of it work.
I'm hoping to be able to then get rid of Vista (but not off the X partition JUST IN CASE!) and regain some space, but I think that I need Windows to run some software for my OU degree course... rather important given this was my excuse for buying a SHIFT (so I'd always be able to work on my degree regardless of where I was (or so my other half thinks!)).
However I know NOTHING about Linux and am somewhat daunted by it but also looking forward to getting a more "hands on" with the Shift and some more computing experience under my belt.
I am rather excited by the concept of actually being able to use things like the g-sensor. Why would HTC put it in then give you nothing to make it work under Vista? Kinda sums up their decision-process when creating the Shift, if you ask me...
Ubuntu on an external USB hard disk also works as described. Wireless doesn't work; this is noted elsewhere in this thread: the 8686 drivers need to be found, compiled, and installed; any detailed pointers would be much appreciated. 640x480 resolution (only) is a major drawback, as control panels come up with essential buttons off screen, and there doesn't seem to be any trick to move them on screen. It boots much faster and it is much more responsive than VISTA ... I would make Ubuntu permanent on the Shift platform if I could get wireless and the resolution control working.

If you go to POF's website (link in the second link in the first message of this thread I think) there is an installer packet that should make WIFI work although being a Linux novice, it doesn't for me! It seems to do what it's meant to do as I can see stuff happening in the terminal window but nothing actually happens or changes after it's done...
I agree that the resolution is a BIG problem at 800 x 640 or whatever it is under Ubuntu 8.04 and hope someone has a solution soon PLEASE!
for Resolution, you can go and reconfig your Xserver yourself. Never used to get it to work on ubuntu but on gentoo no problem at all.
All other pof stuff will work with smal adjustments !! just read the right threads.

I think I did well to get as far as I did as a Noob actually (and a girl one at that!). I have no problem with people saying "search the forum" to people who ask simple questions like "how do I access SnapVue" but when someone's clearly done their research and is still struggling, it's very frustrating. I've just spent nearly ALL weekend on this forum (and google) and got as far as making Ubuntu 8.10 work as I wanted except Wifi and screen resolution, given no one else has mentioned any of these necessities working on 8.10 as far as I can remember and the fact I know nothing about Linux!! Proof in point; your first comment about the Xserver - I don't even know what that is (though I've probably been fiddling in it)
When I have the time I'll start a new thread with all my wonderful findings so it's all in one place - but I have to earn a living and feed the family so it's not high on my agenda this week. I'm due some time off work, so will aim to get it done then (like painting the kitchen and making curtains for my daughter's room...!)
I can upload older ubuntu 8.04 someplace. With this version all pofs configs and hacks work normally.
Hello together!
I'm also working on getting a current Linux up and running on the Shift (Arch Linux with kernel 2.6.28) and found these problems/"solutions":
- Display: I believe that's a combined hard- and software problem. The display doesn't report its correct capabilities and the driver doesn't handle interpolated resolutions that well (I modified the driver for this). I already mailed this to the xorg mailing list, but I didn't get an answer (perhaps I missed some information like driver version)
- Wifi: The old Marvell driver (from their website) isn't compatible with 2.6.28 anymore, but there is a new one in the kernel itself (called libertas), that only needs the firmware in /lib/firmware (check out this git repo if you need to). But at least in my case the chip is still not working, cause the SD controller is buggy and unknown. But I'm talking with some Devs who are willing to help.
- Touchscreen: You need this module to glue htcpen and the xserver together. Then it works like in Pof's manual.
All in all: I believe in having a fully working Linux on the Shift somewhen
Greetings,
Sven
Oaky guys:
Xserver = your grafical environment
Yea u're right the display doesnt send useable stuff to the Soft but you can hard overwrite the combinations of wich ModeLines are used, its a bit more advanced linux stuff but as far as you dont try to learn you wont get it .... i acctually use a 1024 x 600 is possible and i use it !
I Can give my x config to you here if you like to ! (When i am home
sorry for my roughness but i am not a linux pro just advanced PC user and i was able to do such stuff also !!
Greets
Appreciated!
If you could post your config when you have time I would be grateful (as would others!)
@Neutron83:
What version of the intel driver are you using? I'm using 2.4.1 (and newer) and I wasn't able to override the setting no matter what I did. But please share your config. I'd like to give it a chance.
Greeting,
Sven
please, can someone confirm me that ubuntu can do 1024x600 on htc shift?
i would like to buy one of them but i'm not sure about 1024x600 under linux.
thanks a lot
someone posted that xorg_conf can be modified in someway to get bigger resolution. no one have posted working config for this yet. If someone could post it, it would be great.
Shift's screen is 800x480 pixels (http://www.htc.com/europe/faqs.aspx?p_id=60&cat=0&id=45486.) Bundled software (~\htc\resolution.exe and ~\htc\ResolutioLauncher.exe) switches between native 800x480 and emulated 1024x600.
Any progress on a linux driver for the Marvell 8686 wifi card?
Hi @All,
maybe somewhere experts of you can build a script again for Ubuntu 9 users, the most of them I think can work with Linux, but the most are Windows users (like me) and are overstrained with modding aditional Hardware into Ubuntu ;-)
How's everyone going with Ubuntu on the Shift? Samstables?
I'm downloading and installing the current wubi to put ubuntu on with vista as a dual boot to see how much works out of the box and how much I can get working mucking around (low level linux user here )
hmm... my shift is a dustcover at the moment...
pls give me image iso ubuntu on a works drivers!!

Split Video with NDK for Android...

Hello,
I have to do a task, that is more specific than a pure android development. I have to create an android application with a core module written in C or C++ language, doesn't matter, to do some video processing stuff. For example, the scenario is as follows:
1. The Android application captures 10sec video clip from the camera of an Android device;
2. Pass the captured file to the core of the android application;
The core should do the following:
3. Waits for the file, gets the file and opens it;
4. Splits the file into frames - for example, if the camera captures 30fps for 10 seconds video - 300 pictures in png or jpg format;
5. Do some calculations - for example it makes a histogram of a single image and stores it somewhere (db or file, doesn't matter);
6. Returns the result to the Android Code/Java/ which will render it on the default output - e.g. Screen, Console, etc...
How can I do this? I have searched how to split the video file into frames on linux, and I found that it could be done with ffmpeg, but I never dealt with ffmpeg and video/image processing... Could you help me somehow? I don't know what to do and where to start from...
Thanks in advance!
Best Regards,
v4o4ev
Possibly OpenCV / JavaCV
i dont know the exact code but i am sure you can get histograms and stuff with it.

Thank you! The problem now is how to split the video into frames... I am searching about ffmpeg compatibilities, but for now I'm just researching... And one thing - I don't need the code, just the help to find some information about how to do it better and so on thank you so much for the reply - I will take a look now
Thanks!

In java I use the highgui classes, createframegrabber or something like that. I grab each frame and process it for item/motion detection. Then save a movie from it. Works well enough.
