First it had me download the backup utility and install it .. then back up .. NEXT I used the back arrow until I got to the area where it says "install now." It looked greyed out but I clicked on it any way .. It began downloading ...
VERY SLOW DOWNLOADING NEW ROM [or whatever it is called.] I am only at 15% right now ..
also ... I have the Dell Beta Streak .. It is unlocked. I understand the 'locked to att' people have to wait until December .. BUT .. once I get it downloaded and installed ... I can MAYBE figure out how to upload the download somewhere for all to use !!

OMG .. only at 20% .. gonna shower and get ready for work .. will keep checking progress .. Will post when I am closer ..

What does it say about people (including myself) who getting giddy and excited over a software?....... Still, I can't frickin' wait to see how it performs though LOL.

31% of 149MB ... JEEZ .. must be a bazillion people trying to download. Almost wish I didn't check this morning, but it is part of my morning, noon, evening, ritual.

Sorry i must close this thread or people will be looking in two threads for the same thing if you go to the thread on 2.2 you will see that this has been discussed for over an hour

Welcome Now the fun begins A bit of advice read read and read some more. Here is a good place to start http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732458
Also before posting any questions seach it will save you from getting slammed lol
Enjoy
Congratulations on your new phone! It's one if the best out right now, and has hardware that's good enough to keep it decent for awhile.
One thing; don't pay much attention to "vibrant vs x phone" debates. They're cool to read just to find out what options other phones have and how they compare, but don't let them change your mind about your purchase. Vibrants are awesome!
Sent from my Team Whiskey Powered Vibrant
Congrats
congrats you will love the phone. Remember to post questions in the Q & A section look over some of the stickies posts (usually at the top of each forum division.
some easy fun things from the market to play with to familiarize you with the phone
Down load speed test. This app runs a speed connection test download and upload. Neat to see different areas speed connection
Get the XDA app to stay informed.
Wheres my droid. I like this one as if you misplace your phone you text it and it raises the phone ring volume to max and rings (this has been useful for me).
Sd card speed tester. This will test the read write of your sd card.
There are bunch more great things but these are fun.
I moved from the a dumb phone to an SDA to an iPhone to the Vibrant, so they weren't totally huge jumps lol
If I were you I will stay until 11/8 to see what is new
Thanks guys nd I have a question 4 u guys so I got an update from tmobile and after I accepted it some application were gone and remember when u press nd hold the home button u have a task manager thimg rite nd after the update it was gone =(
You were reverted back to the original firmware. It is happening a lot for some reason. Why don't know why. They may be getting ready to push out another OTA.
If you really want the update back you can use ODIN to push it back. Check the Bible over in the development section. But I would wait. We may be getting Froyo tonight.
Lol uep excited abt that thamk u
You should just for the heck of it. And then play around with some minor modding to get the hang of things.

Cancel the Froyo.
Here is all you need:
ODIN 1.7:

JI6:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8506477&postcount=1
No pit file needed.
Put your phone into download mode:
Plug phone into USB
Turn it off
wait til battery icon appears
Hold down both volume buttons and power.
As SOON as battery icon disappears let go of power button.
Should see big yellow sign.
Open ODIN, place the PDA file as the JI6 tar file you downloaded above and go for it.

You are lucky, on the Sensation forums there was a guy who bought a Sensation and got by accident an eng off, rooted phone whilst the rest of the world was stuck with a locked bootloader.
I guess for devs your phone could be worth more than what you paid for it
Well maybe am lucky. I was wondering really why i get the update before everybody. The last time was xxkh5 which samsung manage to change to a dummy update. But this time i have learnt my leason .
what provider you you have? csc?

Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
We think that these updates are only meant for Samsung staff and some how your phone got added to the list of test phones -- it explains why you and nobody else gets them.
My guess this happen because you installed a leaked firmware from samfirmware.com. Remember these leaked firmware could be test builds for internal staff use only. May be something happened on this leaked firmware that got your phone added to the list of staff test phones.
Are there any new great and wonderful features you can see in this update? (It could be months and months before they release any updates for the rest of us!)
Tweet from Samfirmware.com: First roms with Android 2.3.5 for Galaxy S II will be online this month.
Robbielicious has got the leaked firmware, but it's not yet ready for release: "in my possesiosn but in my believe not worthy o releasing just yet"
Darky's crew are now working with Samfirmware.com (i9000 version released about an hour ago) so I imagine the i9100 version will be released as soon as it is ready.
The ki1 update
The update is quiet good. The new goodies on the update are something
1. on the top where the 3g is , we have h+ and R . It really helps me a lot because formally when i visit our basement at my working place i normally lost connection. after i have to reboot my phone but in this case no more rebooting. The batterie life is very amaizing. Internet super fast.
Thanks samsung for the great work done.

One thing I Just found out recently that you'll find to be quite funny yet useful is to swipe the side of your hand from one corner to the other corner and this takes a screenshot of the screen.
Random I know but it's funny.
P.S. Welcome to the club. Install ODIN and update to the LA4 stock rom from Germany (it's not rooted, just a normal official stock ROM that is surprisingly smooth)!
Ever heard of this one?
In the car (NOT a mobile dock), this doesn't happen all the time, about 1-2 times
a day...I unplug the Note, power off the screen, slip it into my pouch case (no magnets or anything), CAREFULLY making sure I don't touch anything. After
I exit the car, I hear the "camera sound", and when I look later, it took a screen
capture of the lock screen LOL. Even though I'm not touching anything, somehow
it "sees" me wanting to make a screen capture.

That depends if u are planning to root your phone. Which i dont regret doing that. U can install custom ROMs and there are plenty of good ones. I personally have only tried RocketRom and CheckROM Revo NoteHD V5 but my favourite is the CheckROM one..
I like the CheckROM because of the great improvement in battery life and that it doesnt have the battery draining apps that i never even used. But if u like u can always add the apps u miss with its built in Kitchen app.
So if u want to root, u should do it before u update to LA4
so if u want to root, just follow this tutorial

It's been a while since I've used ODIN, but IIRC you have to follow this order:
1) Make sure your phone is unplugged from PC and powered off.
2) Put your phone in download mode. To do this press and hold volume down+home+power simulteniously
3) Once your phone is in download mode plug it into PC and launch ODIN.
4)Follow directions for flashing posted earlier/
Well a week in, and its even better than first impressions, the battery is amazing get what i would call a days use. This is my main device now i think ive probably spent 5 hours max on my laptop in the last week

I sure wish sammobile or updato would get that new firmware uploaded Im stuck on unlocked firmware because they pushed out the v5 bootloader update and verizon was trailing behind... need to go back to verizon firmware to get back wifi calling. if only samsung played nice with their unlocked software my google google pixel has wifi calling just like my verizon google pixel..

My Bat drained to 1% just before the update so I chalked up the poor Bat performance to me letting it drain to far. So thats kinda good news to me cause some way or another Ill fix that.
