right now it is not recommended to try any themes on this rom ..
Ya it is the same deal when Fission went to 2.0.X, don't want to use any themes built for anything lower than 2.1. I think that Black Out is the only theme that has been converted to Fission 2.1 so far.
Thank You

Hey everybody,
Just curious whether or not it's ok to install a new ROM over an old one? For instance I wanna install the new Fission and I have EPIC2.7 right now. Should I clear EPIC (don't know how so if I do could ya walk me through it?) or should I be ok just installing the new Fission ROM right over the EPIC one?

The newest version of fission is very different from Epic, and AngDroid recommends that anyone coming from a ROM prior to Fission 2.0 should SBF their D2 with the 2.3.20 full flash and then root again and install the ROM following the instructions in the Fission thread.
Ok thanks. I'll search around for how to SBF since I'm sure it's here somewhere lol... thanks for the help!

Here's a decent way to sbf:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=804088
I am aware that someone did port music lover, but I believe it to be for an older (incompatible for me) ROM base. Has anyone ported any of these kind of themes to a 2.29.405.2 base? If not then can anyone port the Music lover or Slate theme?
Thanks in advance,
~Matty Matt

How can you port them? Wouldn't you need the skin functionality to be built in to the rom like in sense 2? And therefore, need to be using a custom HD desire port rom with sense 2 t, which have the skins built in anyway?
Allow me to show you what i meant
Check
AuraxTSense v8.4 Rom
That's closest to what you are looking.
(Themed rom. Not just theme. But fast, stable and good one).
Prevs are from old version. 8.4 is just from your example.
Hope it helps?!
i agree. i also saw some themes which were ported from DHD to Desire. But they dont work on newer rom versions. It would be great to see them here.....

Do you use some special theme with it or stock cm7 theme?
Is cm7 ready for prime time? Any wired boots?
Use any Z sense or DHD Sense ROM from the Desire ROM section and apply any DHD/Desire Z themes for the newer Sense.
For the themes to work on older versions of Sense they require a port like Matt originally linked to.
So all in all if you want to use DHD themes, use a ROM with the newer Sense version and then just apply themes from DHD forums. They'll work fine.

LOL No what i meant was, I have no need for these themes as I am using CM7. It's very stable, lots of Gingerbreaddy goodness as long as you do exactly as the included tut tells you, you should have no problems!
I have been out of the X scene for a while. Is there a new gingerbread ROM out now ? Or should I install the leaked OTA GB build ?
Liberty GB beta is out. You have to download the donate Liberty Toolbox to get it. However, I think I'm waiting for the RC.
DX CFU LIB 1.5
I'm running Liberty GB ROM v0.3 right now. It feels more like an almost complete build than a beta. It's lightning fast compared to liberty 1.5 or any froyo ROM and runs very smoothly.
You do have to download the donate version of liberty toolbox (they'll release a full liberty GB later for free) to get it now, but for the $5 dollars they make flashing a very painless process compared to when I first started flashing ROMs.
Basically, all you do is download it in the toolbox. The toolbox asks you if you want to make a backup and/or clean wipe. Then it installs. And done.
There are also a few alphas out of Apex GB for the DX and D2, and in my opinion they feel far more complete than the Liberty nightlies.
I second that. Apex 2.0 Alpha 2.
I have also heard great things about the apex alphas. I am flashing it today on my lunch

linky poo?
Where can I download Apex 2.0 Alpha? I've searched around and can't find a download link.
Thanks.

Drewgarden has a few out too, Broodcomb 2.0 looks the most promising though. I am on Liberty .3 and it is awesome! Super Fast!

After running both Liberty .01 and .03 for a few days, I have to say that the flash to Apex was a great decision. It's FAR more complete at this point, and running wonderfully for a ROM in progress.

it looks like stock gingerbread cm7. launcher 2 with 3d effect, black bar with green icons. gb lock screen, black menus except the dialer is not themed yet.
I am planning on flashing the new apex tomorrow, very excited about it.
Edit - it's pretty nice!

Nope, not unless anyone ported them over/upgraded them. Simply Honey 3.9 is a JVP based gingerbread rom, so the framework and app bases are different than froyo. Flashing a stock KB5 froyo theme over a gingerbread rom will guarantee you a trip to Odin.
Check out the themes section though, I'm sure there are a few themes compatible with simply honey that you might like.
Happy Hunting!
How about using metamorph is it possible? if not than thanx for the info I guest I'll wait to see if anyone will port a theme for it.
I have a Droid X that's rooted but It's on the stock Froyo. I want to flash it to a custom ROM but I don't know how I go about this.
Right Now I can't Decide if I want CM7, Justice, Liberty GB, or Liquid. What's the best one to go too? I care about speed, battery life & awesome features.
Should I upgrade to gingerbread?

I would say go to gingerbread, just because it is the most update version and imo better than Froyo. Most all of the roms have great speed, as far a batery life and features tho ehhhh lol 1 of the 2 will have to be compensated by another basically meaning.
For instance, Liquid and CM7 has tons and tons of customization's about anything you would want to customize you can with those roms, yet due to so many customization features more data is on the rom which compensates the battery life.
Liberty doesn't have as many custom features yet the battery life is superior to Liquid and CM7.
So its all a matter of your personal preferences. I am currently on Liquid 3.0 I also have my phone underclocked and I have been on my phone uncharged for 17hrs with 50% battery still left. I love this rom, thinkin about checkin out the new Liberty or the Shuji rom by Mobile Sensei. After a few days and some more reviews by others.
Speaking of amazing battery life Mobile Sensei is the master of that had ICX by Sensei and could easily get 35 hours off the charger with no problem. Yet rom did not have really any custom options. As I said give and take.
As far as flashing a custom rom. You will definitely need Droid 2 Bootstrap by Koush from the market I think its 2.99, so you can go ahead and download that now. Also as far as flashing a rom I would suggest you visit droidmodderx.com or visit his youtube (just search droidmodderx). This guy Shane is amazing and can show you better than I can tell you how to load a rom. This guy does actual tutorials on how to load a custom rom. So definitely definitely visit one of his sites and you will be good to go (you can download roms from his website as well). You can actually go step by step on your phone loading the rom while you are watching the tutorial on your computer. Decreases the probability of errors.
Hope this helps guy.
Thanks Alot! I'll check out his site & comeback with an update. You helped alot.

Good post with good info!
I just want to add that the d2 bootstrapper is available to download somewhere on the forums, so make sure you take a look around. I downloaded it from here when first flashing CM7.
Also, most if not all of your questions have already been answered somewhere, so check the stickies, and use the search. If you cant find anything close to an answer you need, feel free to ask!

No problem man. Definitely keep us posted on how it goes for you.
I flashed it to .602 GB to move up to the recent roms but I like it how it is right now. I was wondering can I put t-mobile theme engine without CM7?
I went from GB back down to Froyo and put Darkslide on my DX.

Not sure if I'm understanding your question. But if a theme is built specifically for whatever type of rom you are on the yeah it shouldn't be a problem. If you are running a a Shuji rom i doubt that a theme for the CM7 rom would work on it.
Ok Cyanogenmod 7 has a T-mobile theme engine built in the rom. I was asking is there a way I can install that T-mobile theme engine onto the stock GB .602 rom?

I'm not sure about the Tmobile theme engine, but, in my opinion, MIUI has a FAR superior themeing system.
MIUI's theme manager offers control of just about every themeing aspect of the device.

I think I might have to flash over to that, I flash to the Liquid Smooth 3.0 rom & my dailer force close as soon as my phone boots up, whenever i receive a call or try to dail out.. It's the only problem I'm having with this ROM
