hi my htc hd2 which i got "on the hook up" lol
is locking up
95% of the time it wont load past the (stick together) even if i reset it even the hard reset.
or it will load the (stick together) screen and reset over and over to the (stick together) screen
OR when it does load it will work for about 10-15 min the reset and stick at the
(stick together) screen again ... Any ideas would be GREAT thanks yall
funny im having the same issues
dont really see the "funny" but .... thanks PLEASE help i am sitting dead in the water with no phone
2 options at this point basically:
1-hard reset
2-flash a new ROM via USB or SD card
Instructions to do both can be found by searching.
hard reset has been done
and i cant flash because it wont load
looking at the post on this TMOUS subforum, seems like it is occurring more and more often this past month. since this "won't boot past stick together" glitch only comes up occasionally, and even then, only if you soft reset the phone, most people who keep their phone on for weeks will never come across it. You have 3 options to do in order: 1. Troubleshoot the problem yourself, 2. convince tmoUS to exchange, 3. convince HTC to exchange.
1. might be a problem with tmo's latest batch of shipped HD2's with 2.13rom. if the custom ROMs don't help, try flashing the latest TMO 2.14rom via microSD. With this sticktogether problem, you might still be able to get into the bootloader (volume down + power). Download the latest official rom at: www.tmobile.com/wmupgrade , unzip the exe file, copy the RUU_signed.nbh into your microSD, rename it to LEOIMG.nbh, and let the HD2 bootloader do its job. See link at the top of this forum. That's it, it will flash by itself. If the latest 3.14rom still has the problem, then
2. call tmo tech support. Tmobile US has the best customer service of the US carriers, they'll try their best to help any customer with a good account, as long as your phone is not reported stolen Walk into a tmo store, and the rep might even do the above "flash via microSD" for you, as long as you have a working tmo phone number, you're a customer.
3. last, call HTC, this is a pain, but well worth it if all else fails. Regardless of where you bought the phone, HTC might replace/fix it if it is a known issue. If one agent won't help, call back again if necessary. Lots of xda members have done so.
good luck, and read the stickies at the top of this forum, especially the "flash via microSD" sticky.
tmoUS & HTC both said no about after an hour on the phone
now it wont go past to stick together screen i even did the hard reset HELP lol
anybody? please
Have you tried flashing a new ROM via SD card?
the phone wont boot past stick together screen
when i plug it in to my computer is looks for soft ware but thats it i think its called cdma comm something please let me know how i can do that
it says looking for soft ware
qualcomm cdma technologies msm
You don't need to connect it to your PC to flash via SD card. Read the stickies for info on how to do it.

I just bought a t-mobile wallaby from here in india, And i decided there was a update available after 3.14 or something. so i ran it. But it stopped in the middle. Said 20 min but waited an hour. Then i took the xda of its cradle and did a hard reset... Now all it does is switches on and show t-mobile and the light stay on...nothing after that. I think i really messed it up. Gave it to a guy who said he could fix it but now 4 days later says he cant. Really need help on how to do it myself Please. Please help me, cant throw money away like that......can some show me step by step instructions as i am stupid with upgraded or reinstalling this device.
why have you decided that you could upgrade your device if you don't understand anything to upgrading and its consequences.
Upgrading is *dangerous* for dummies.

I am now using the XDAII but when i had the XDA1 i had a similar problem. Got stuck upgrading. Hang onto your horses dude your device isn't dead so breath a sigh of relief. If you have a SD/MMC Card reader then use it to burn the base Rom from
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org and then install it through the boot loader(Hold the Power button and then press the soft reset button using the stylus(you will enter the boot loader mode and then follow the instructions on how to install the Rom.
------------------------------OR--------------------------------------------
Go to a shop or a friend who had similar device, make sure you have a SD/MMC card with you and then enter the bootloader mode as described above and then copy the ROM on the SD Card. Then insert the card in your device and again enter the Boot Loader mode and Copy the Rom from the SD Card to your device after you are done press the Hard reset button on your device to switch it off keep it off for atleast 60 sec before pressing the hard reset button again to switch it on. Your device will live again.
[/b]A WORD OF ADVICE
Don't touch the Radio Stack on either your device or the other one. Always select Rom only.
If you need further help with using the bootloader search these forums you'll come up with alot of info.
Let me know how it works out

I believe there's a way to go-back! Do a flush by pressing on the power button+the hard reset+the navigation button pressed. All at once and that's how you go-back to the original ROM. Let me know if it works and if you dare to do it anyways.. 8)

Mr. Guest you are an idiot, many of us have been at this point one time our another. This is no way to respond to a forum member in need of help.
i'm no techie when it comes to these things but just out of curiousity WHAT causes the upgrade to stop? mananmistry said he was in the middle of upgrading already; is it the rom he used or is it the connection (power flux, cable, sync, etc)? just curious...

update
now the thing is i got the phone back. I have connected the usb but pc cannot find device and xdatools or the rom .exe files wont install. it says "xda not found via activesync", something like that. I went into the boot loader and it said GSM ERROR and stops. have to press calender key to get into sub-menus. what is the problem. does the rom kitchen .exe files need sactive sync to be present. please can some one tell me.
do i need a sd card reader. can i not just use someone phone to put my sd card and burn onto sd...??
You are now in serious trouble, the GSM error often proves fatal for the phone. You can still flash the rom though by following the previous instructions. After that is completed you will have to try flashing a radio stack. Please be prepared to be disappointed, I wish you the best of luck. The good news is that even if the phone doesnt work you should still have a working pda.

Thanks .... But
Thanks for the reply ... but i have no idea how to do what you tell me, I am new to all this phone "stuff" as a matter of fact this is the first time that i am ever using one of these forums. I have read till i am cross eyed but dont actually understand what you are talking about ... now don't let that scare you away as i am willing to learn and i am not braindead ... you all had to start sometime in this, not so. I get that i need to try and reflash my rom...
so is there some type of rom update software that i need? ... what is a hard SPL?? ... and who is Schaps?? .. sorry guys to do this to you but i would like to get into this game and i need some ( well maybe a lot ) of pointers.
Thanks for your time.
1. Search for "mr vanxs guide" so you have an idea on what you're doing.
2. OK, as Asfarizal said "Go to Bootloader mode: Hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus". If you cant work out what the buttons are, go to the manual. it will tell you.
3. type in "hard SPL" in search on the forum & download the .zip or .rar file. this should have 2 files inside when opened,
a). RUUWrapper.exe and
b). RUU_signed.nbh
sync Hermes and double click .exe file. follow prompts.
4. find a rom that you want (would suggest TNT SE as a fairly good rom for noobs... good and stable, no problems...) Again download, then (and this is personel preference) format an sd card fat 32 and copy RUU_signed.nbh into root directory. Rename it Hermimg.nbh. Put into Phone and put into bootloader(make sure the battery is more than 50%) follow prompts. This should get you out of trouble. You can also sync your Phone and double click on the RUUWrapper.exe HOWEVER, if you should reset your computer, pull out the usb cable or have anything else happen to the computer that interrupts the flashm, you could end up with a worse brick than you have now. try to read up on flashing (search for "mr vanxs guide") and this should help you a lot if you have other questions. Good luck and happy flashing......
Thank You
I will follow the instructions you gave and try to get it going this weekend.
Thank you so much for your time

Looks like you've got a lot of reading to do, and a problem to sort out. Firstly a couple of answers...
Schaps is a Rom Cooking guru (makes custom versions of WM5, WM6 etc). When you get your phone sorted out I'd recommend trying one of his roms.
Hard SPL. The SPL is part of the bootloader which effectively dictates how a rom is flashed and what roms can be flashed. HardSPL is a custom version of this which allows you to flash any rom from any carrier. It also protects against a bad flash in many cases. It is recommended before you try flashing any new roms or radio roms. Use Hard-SPL-V7 at the bottom of the first post here.
The Rom upgrading software is contained in any of the cooked or carrier supplied roms. It is normally a .zip file which cotains 2 files: xxxxxRUU.exe and RUU_signed.nbh. You run the .exe file from your PC when connected to your phone via USB. More details of how to do this are in MrVanx's guides. Also other resources here.
Now to try to sort your phone out...
What is displayed on your screen when in bootloader mode? It should be something like this:
HERM200
IPL-1.04
HERM200
SPL-2.10.Olipro (This is HardSPL V7)
If you don't have an Olipro SPL then you need to get HardSPL onto your phone. If you haven't done any upgrading and have had the phone from new then I guess you don't have hardSPL.
Now you need to fix your USB Malfunctioning problem. I can't help too much here except to suggest trying a different cable, different USB port or different PC. Also, if you are running Vista try an XP maxhine. When you connect to the PC does your phone show Serial or USB on the screen? If you can't get a USB connection, all is not lost - you can re-flash your rom using an SD card, method here.
There is a thread about un-bricking phones which may help.
There are various diagnostic tools (which can also screw your phone if used incorrectly). The favourite of these is MTTY but you need a USB connection to use this.
If your phone is in warranty I'd recommend getting your supplier to sort it out, but if not I'd try to re-flash an ORIGINAL supplier rom (Cingular I guess). You can get links to the official supplier roms here.
I think (might be wrong) that sometimes when stuck in bootloader you need to flash an official rom, not a cooked one to recover your phone - then you can run HardSPL and then flash cooked roms again.
Cingular 8525 stuck in bootloader
Thanks for the reply ... lots of great input.
Now to answer some of your questions.
1) When I power up the phone (only pushing the power button ) it goes straight into the bootloader screen without pushing any other buttons, and it displays
HERM100
IPL-1.01
HERM100
SPL-1.06
Then at the bottom in the white bar it says "Serial"
The only way that i have found to power it down again is to remove the battery, there is no response from any single buttons after it is in bootloader
the soft reset and hard reset work but it just goes right back to the bootloader screen after.
2) The USB malfunction. This only started after the phone "crashed" and before that it worked great ... well i only used it to sync up to my work pc for the contacts and to get pictures onto my hard drive.
all the PC's that i use are running XP. I have tried my home PC and my Laptop
and the work PC and all of them have their own cables and they all say the same thing ... "the USB device is malfunctioning"
I am sure that when i get the phone going again the USB will start to function again.
3) Phone warranty ... I bought the phone off e-bay from a store in new york about 10 months ago as a "new unlocked cingular 8525" it was new and unlocked, but i have no idea how they unlocked it. I would assume that there would be no warranty now and in any case i live in Canada and would have to ship it down to the states to an AT&T repair center and that sounds like a nightmare to me with the customs and so on.
I will give you a little more background on the problem. the phone worked like a charm without any problems at all for the 10 months that i had it, then the morning of the crash the phones alarm did not go off in the morning and i was almost late for work ... i did not pay it any further attention untill at 3:26pm
that afternoon the alarm went off ??????? (it was set for 6:05am) so i checked the main clock time, it was right. I then checked the alarm time, it was right ??? So i figured that something must have just got confused, so i powered down the phone with the power button to just restart it and while it was powered down i removed the battery to take the oportunity to to clean all those fuzzies and dust that collect in the battery compartment out and put it all together and powered it up again (just by pushing the power button) and this wierd red, green, blue and white screen appeared and that is all that i have seen since ???
I hope that answers your questions and i will start going through the links that you sent and get to reading ... will there be a pop quiz ... lol
Thanks again for your time and i very much appreciate all the time that all of you have spent on me and my phone ..... I know that you all just feel bad for me because i now have to use a Motorolla V551 ... lol
Great Work

kirtibas, sorry it took so long to reply, 1st thing I'd do is upgrade to SPL 2.10 olipro. This is safer to use than others. then I'd suggest reflashing a stock rom to see if that works. After stock rom works then use a cooked rom as your heart desires... Cheers...
I am seriously needing some light shed over here please some one i have been hunting and hunting, I even wrote a post to try to get help please help me so if any one else needs any help like this I may be able to help them also.
My phone was going through a flash when it restarted it got "Bricked" at the Windows Mobile splash screen. I want to know is there any way I can unbrick my Cingular HTC 8525 Herm100 device, via SD(micro). I have reformated my card but it still wont go to the bootloader, I have witnessed the small text at the bottom left of the screen that reads "No GSM" imediately after the phone comes on. Now either I am over reading something or missed something but if I could trouble some of the devs, admins, users, or even (not recommended, but im desperate to get working) flamers...
Please help me so that I may help others later on. Thank you
Im not a know it all....but I'll try and help.
Questions...
1) Have you tried to do a Manual load of the Boot-loader (POWER+OK+RESET)..?
Usually I HOLD the POWER+OK then hit the RESET while still holding the other two buttons, until the boot-loader loads.
2) Try taking out your Sim's card, see if the NO GSM is still there...?
I've had this problem on other phones in the past.
3) Unbricking using the SD card..? try doing a SEARCH THIS FORUM option for a
more dedicated search...
I would use a USB cord for the unbricking, as I have had better chances of undoing a brick.
Also you can used a "Motorola Razr", USB cord also with this phone for the USB options.
Well hope something works for you.
Thanks and good Luck.
Jake Howe
You also need to have installed Hard SPL V7... If you haven't then I hope you have a copy of your SHIPPED STOCK ROM as this may be th eonly thing that will fix your Hermes. If it has the "No GSM" error then its possible you will still have a brick. It generally means the radio rom is corrupted and is impossible to fix...
Thank you guys for the response I have reversed the brick of the phone a few days ago. My other question is, do anyone know how/or if it is possible to flash the phone and lock it to an "IDEN" type phone or know the Network ID Code for a Carrier called, boost mobile; a subsidiary of Sprint/Nextel.
Hello guys,
I got a HTC HD2 today from ebay, the seller has 100% feedback.
I have done a search about my problem but I dont wanna do anything wrong on the phone if the phone is faulty and send it back.
My situation was, I got the phone, inserted my SIMcard and set all the first settings. after 2min someone called me, when I answered the call couldnt hear anything and the phone was frozen :\ after few seconds the phone reboot itself and I waited 5min to see if turned back on, but didnt :\
I've tried pressing the yellow reset botton near the battery, I've tried hard reset.
And if I press VOL down and turn the handset on thats the info I get :
PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x50
and on the bottom of the screen says SERIAL, nothing else
I've got the phone from America (T-mobile) I'm in australia, melbourne
I've worked hard to get this phone and now when I got, could only use it for couple minutes
Please help me asap.
Thank you and sorry open other topic about it
Guessing its TMoUS HD2 Leo1024. BTW what rom is installed on it did you get to notice while you had it? Something is odd here you are not sharing with us how does it go and get stuck in that screen.
Well to be safe if you don't know flash it. So don't matter remove the battery and restart it and go to bootloader mode by pressing power button while holding down the bottom volume button. Then connect the device to your PC via USB mount and download and run HSPL or you can do it via stock rom go download 2.10 from WM dev archive thread.
I just got the phone today :\ the seller said to me the phone is the tmobile version 512mb. I'm a bit noob with HTC, Ive been with iphone until today. well, Im not sure which rom I had, but I think its LEO.
Ive tried all afternoon, I removed the battery out of the phone for 2 hrs, then tried again(without SIMcard) and the phone started up again as new settings and asked me to put my simcard in, so I removed the battery and put the simcard in, turned the phone on, it got stuck again in STICK TOGETHER screen
I dont wanna be inconvenient about all my questions, I just want my phone fixed :\
I couldnt do anything with the phone cos I set up the settings, after couple min got a call and the phone froze and it reboot it self stucking in STICKY TOGETHER screen. I was trying to flash it, but how can I sync my phone with windows 7? cos if I put in bootloader screen, it says USB at the bottom but WMDC says device not conected.
Do you have any solution for my problem?
thank you for your reply
Ahhh as you said TMobile I naturally thought it would be Leo1024(HD2-US) but now that you say its 512mb thats not TMobile you are using Leo512(HD2-EU). I had a feeling you flashed your rom as you flashed wrong one then.
So to verify post the HSPL and ROM data from where you got it from so we know. Also visually verify your actual device does it say TMobile on the top? does the button have colors? If both = yes its TMobile.
My phone has T-Moline on the top and has colors on the buttons. its definately t-mobile. I asked the seller and he said was 512, maybe he is wrong.
I havent done anything to the phone I cant flash cos I cant even conect with my computer the phone came from USA. I'm in australia
thank you
If it's a USA TMobile, then it's not the 512 version, and you need to flash only US TMO compatible ROMs or you could brick it.
When you say you tried a hard reset, how did you do that?
It should be when the phone is off you hold down both volume up and down, and keep them held down, then briefly press the power button but keep holding the volume buttons.
What happens when you do that?
Try to flash it through the sd card.
- Download the rom you want, uncompress the files, rename the nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh
(The original HTC rom files can be uncompressed too, even if they are .exe files - you will find a .nbh file inside)
- Copy this file to the root of the sd card.
- Reboot while pressing volume down.
It should start to flash the new rom.
That's what I called Hard reset
I'm doing it again and comes up a grey screen saying
This operation will delete all ur personal data, blah blah blah..
Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel
I pressed VolUp
..restore..completed
Press VolUp to bootup

Well if that appears to work, but doesn't, you could have a real problem there. Do what joooe suggested above - that's the only option you've got left, without sending it away for repair.

AFAIK, if it says T-Mobile on it and it has coloured call buttons then it's a US TMobile. Only the US ones have coloured buttons, and they're all 1024MB ROM.
May be wise though to wait for someone else to confirm this, as you've got me doubting myself now!
what would happen if I install AFAIK rom and then my phone is 512mb? would brick my phone? I would be unable to use my phone anymore? thank you so much for all ur help guys

I don't know if it's 100% bricked afterwards, but you do need to install a compatible ROM, made for your device, so you need to be sure which one it is. It's really not worth rushing this and trying to just install a ROM as you may irreparably damage your phone.
ok, I will follow ur advice
should I follow this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6894936#post6894936
how can I make sure is 512mb or 1024mb?
but it says :
1024LEOs (from T-Mobile with 1024ROM) ARE NOT SUPPORTED
but then if my phone is T-mobile with 1024ROM
I can follow this one yeh?

thank you very much
Like I said earlier, wait for a while and let someone confirm that it is indeed a 1024MB ROM, or you will probably brick it and not be able to fix it.
HSPL3 works on all types of HD2 though, so you can flash that. Those links are both actually the same thing.
Just don't flash a ROM until you know 100% that you have the right type.
It is the TMOUS 1024 LEO.
Go to the HTC website and download a T-Mobile USA ROM, you are required to enter the phone's serial number. This will guarantee that you only download a ROM that is suitable for your phone.
Since you really just want to test the phone then go for the 2.10 ROM.
Firstly press and hold the Volume Down button, then tap the power button. This will bring you into Bootloader Mode (as you previously have done). When you plug in the USB cable to the computer the 'Serial' on the phone's screen will change to 'USB'.
As an administrator run the ROM and just tick the box about activesync.
thank you.
can I provide more info about my phone? to make sure for everyone?
thanks

I was 99.9% sure and just wanted someone else to agree really.
Basically, US T-Mobile HD2 are the only ones in the world with green and red call/end-call buttons, and every US T-Mobile HD2 has 1024MB ROM. If the guy you bought it off said it was 512MB then that would explain why it's in its current condition. It sounds like he believed it to be a 512MB version, and flashed a bad ROM. It also sounds like he's palmed it off on you, believing it to be knackered.
As fred_up said, go the the HTC site and download an official ROM for that device. You should be able to install that with no issues and see if the phone definitely works or not.
Good luck mate
@fred_up
do I have to flash first with this HSPL3?
I have downloaded and the phone was detected I went just to the step to select HSPL version to install
the choices are :
2.08.HSPL
2.08.0000
what should I do first?
I will try to find the rom on HTC website.
thank you very much
Hi,
I bought a new HD2 from Newegg yesterday. I inserted the battery and started the ph. As soon as it entered windows, it restarted and got stuck at 'Stick together' screen. So now if I remove the battery and put it back after 5-6 mins it gets past the 'stick together' screen and again restarts as soon as it reaches windows. And I have to repeat the whole cycle over again...(sigh). Did hard reset also which didn't help.
Is it even possible for me to load android on this phone which restarts every 10-15 seconds? My whole idea behind purchase of a HD2 was to load android on it. So please tell me whether to retain it or return it. Thanks.

You could try booting into bootloader (hold volume down button while powering on), flashing HSPL, and then flashing a custom ROM before returning it. If it still freezes, then it's probably been overheated before and will always freeze. After flashing HSPL, put the custom ROM on a >4gb sd card and boot into bootloader, and the phone will prompt you to press certain buttons to proceed with flashing. This will negate the need to boot all the way up and connect to your pc to flash. The ROM will be in the package you download from the ROM's thread, just extract the contents of the package and look for ruu.nbh and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and put it on the card, not in any folders on the card, just on the card.
If it still freezes, definitely return it. Just make sure and flash back to your stock ROM and SPL by this same method before returning it, or they might say you were the one who messed up the phone and not accept it back.
Is there a warranty on it?!
if yes go back where u bought it and tell them the problem and see what u get might get a new phone
I would return it swap it for another hd2 without flashing anything. You don't know whats causing the problem and how it might affect the performance. Basically it should get to you in good working order even if you are going to modify it.
I returned it
Thanks for all your answers. I too thought it was better to return it and get a replacement without taking a risk. So I simply generated a RMA as it is still covered by 'replacement only' return policy. Just hoping I would get a good one this time from Newegg.
