network problem!! - HD2 General

hey everyone,
i checked everywhere on the internet, looked a lot of places but i couldnt find the solution to my problem.
so... everything was okay this morning i was like updating my twitter, browsing, everything fine, internet working ect. and couple of hours later in the afternoon my network was gone! right now i cant MAKE CALLS, access internet and all that stuff. its like a tablet now, just accessing internet via wi-fi. everything else-like games&music- seems to be working perfectly well.
i did a soft reset& a hard reset. i also checked the settings from the phone section of the connection manager. it just cant find a network!!
help me?

What do you see when you go into Settings -> Connections -> Connection Setup?
Go to Settings -> Personal -> Phone -> Network. Change Network selection to Manual. The phone will do a search for available networks (this might take a few minutes). If you see your network then fine, but I am just checking if the phone can see any network, ie a problem with the phone.

yup, of course i checked those settings. it finds some networks but it cant select it.
thinking about it through the day, i came to think that it was a problem about the sim card. still not sure what to do next though :/

Have you not got a friend on the same network? Then borrow their sim and try that. If that works, then try yours in their phone.

The battle for wifi

Hi guys. If you don't remember me - here's my story in a nutshell. I got a 8525 about a week ago. Since day one I tried and tried and tried but never managed to get the wifi working... (as you can imagine I am beyond desperate at this point)
Anyway last night I got thinking and decided to give it another stab. I hard reset, messed with the settings again...and this time manage to get a little further. My phone is now showing me as "connect to network", only problem is I get a message saying "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change connection settings, tap Settings." each time I try to access anything internet related. I know I'm close especially since I'm actually connected now, I think it's just AT&T's rom doing everything it can to get me to use their networks (I'm on T-Mobile and don't have a dataplan anyway...).
Anyway can you guys think of what the problem might be? I'm so close I can taste it! Thanks.....
Bump... Anyone home?
where did you get your 8525? my wifi on my 8525 works perfectly fine, have u tried upgrading to WM6?
I have WM6 already. I got it off ebay. Everything is perfectly fine with it, it just doesn't want to use the wifi connection to get online.
Try a hard rest.
my 1st 8525 i got off ebay, and it worked great up until a few weeks ago, when the screen stopped functioning it just turned white, i called AT&T and they sent me a new 1 i just got it this morning and now, i cant make calls >.> it will ring then my phone will say i have no service when i have full service and the call will end. but my wifi is fine... did u use the WM6 upgrade that was released by AT&T
No thanks re: the hard reset. I've already done that... If I can't figure this out I'm going to sell my phone and steer clear of ppc phones. I like it, but I bought it for wifi and this is just getting ridiculous. I have tried everything. I've spent hours and hours on this. I've reset my router god knows how many times, played with security settings, reset my phone over and over to start over.....
The worst part now is that I know it's connected. The wifi aspect is fine. It's just the stupid phone not wanting to use the wifi connection for the internet.
Maybe someone with a 8525 and a Linksys router can post ALL of their wireless related settings for me.
Ekh
Yes I used the AT&T update.....
i use wifi and my linksys router, the 8525's range isnt that great u need to be within a few feet of the router to get good reception, im about 30 feet from mine and i get 2 Wifi signal bars and an ok speed. but try this
Start > Programs > Proxy Manager > Disable Proxy
then try to use your wifi, then go back and restore the proxy when your done, i think some 1 told me to do that because att uses that so u can use their internet service or sumthin
Thanks but I'm way ahead of you. I've already tried every piece of advice I've come across on xda. My last hope is someone elses detailed settings.
is your network passworded by a WEP or TKIP ?
It's WPA... My device has the password, and I added the MAC to my router table. It's connecting to the router/wifi...
...it's just that my device won't use the connection
* Sigh * Looks like another one of my please help me posts has gone dead...again...

Your problem may be one of the following:
1. The wifi connection is specified as connecting to "work" and programs are set to use an internet connection.
2. The wifi connection is specified as connecting to "internet" and programs are set to use a work connection.
Nope that's not it. But it does remind me of something so thanks. I deleted all the connections seeing as I don't have a dataplan... I made a new connection called "Wifi". BUT, it's not like I can specify any connection for it so it's just blank (no connection specified). By this I mean the options for a connection are:
bluetooth, cellular line, cellular line (GPRS, 3G), Generic IrDA, Hanes...COM1. No option for wireless...
Does that help?
Check that your router is set to allow connections by devices with 802.11b, which the Hermes uses. Most default to 802.11g only.
It's set for b and g
Helloooo...?
Hallelujah!!!!!
People, I have WIFI!!!
Thanks to everyone who tried to give a helping hand... It's really appreciated.
For future reference to those who are suffering from the same problem - this is what seemed to fix it... I entered google into IE via it's IP address rather than it's name (open command prompt, ping google.com...). To my surprise the page quickly loaded. I then instantly realized that the problem was with the DNS settings. I opened up "Wi-Fi" in settings, went to the "Network Adapters" tab at the bottom and entered in the DNS addresses for "IEEE 802.11b/g...". If you need help with this just PM me (I consider myself somewhat of an expert on this topic now).
I thought I was never going to get online. There IS a god!

Changing some settings on the 6800 won't stick.

Hey all. I've searched posts and can't find anything but what other people used for a quick backyard fix to get them past. Here's the deal. My phone connects to the Verizon Data Network all the time, even when I'm connected to WiFi. On my Apache, I could go into Settings, Connections, Connections and set the advanced settings so programs needing to connect automatically would use My Work Network instead of Verizon Wireless. However, on my 6800, I change the same setting for the same effect and as soon as I hit ok, it reverts back so it tries connecting to the net via cellular again instead of via WiFi. This isn't the only setting I've found that won't stick, but I can't remember what those ones are. Has anyone found the cause to this and the solution? Possibly a file that's write-protected and shouldn't be or something. I don't have a data plan and can't afford one so I really need this to change and still be able to get MMS when I need to (don't want to disable data completely on Verizon's end). Help!

WiFi/3G Internet connection problems

Hey guys,
I got an Xperia on the Vodafone UK network. I flashed the ROM to the normal original UK ROM...and am using some other network's simcard with the phone. It works fine as a phone. But I cant seem to use the internet...although I have connected to the internet via either WiFi or 3G (it says connected)...but when I use the opera/internet explorer/google map/skype or windows live...it searches for a little while and then says that 'the program needs internet connection, please check network provider settings' or something to that note. I know many people are having internet connection problems...any help here is much appreciated please!
have you select the right network inside Network management? There is a settings inside there called "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should be using: Network name "
make sure you have selected the correct 1.
Network management is inside Start >Settings > Connections > Connections in case you aren't sure.
Oh yes erichui...I have selected the right network alright...
told u it's connected...but it just doesnt seem to load anything...
if you try searching youll find this is a common problem and there have been several solutions to it.
please read the sticky at the top, theres a very good reason that the moderators ask you to search first, this site is incredibly busy, by asking the same question thes already been asked over and over again just fills the forum and makes it harder to find anything worthwhile

[Q] HD2 T-mobile UK settings help

I've got a Hd2 which is having a few problem connecting to the Internet. The phone was originally on Virgin network in the UK (which is essentially piggybacked on the T-Mobile network but uses different APN settings) and now I've unlocked it to run on T-Mobile UK. I've never been able to send mms's, but have been able to receive them in the past.
That was until my brother came along and in his infinite wisdom thought he could fix that and now all my Internet settings have gone. I've tried countless times to send them from the T-Mobile website and no joy, cannot download the settings.
SO now I turn to you fine gents and ladies to help me get my phone back on the Intternet please! I basically need to start it from scratch with manual settings I think but if anyone has any other suggestions please go ahead.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Hi mate, what you need to do is:
In Manilla goto the settings tab > Menu > All Settings.
This brings up the standard WM Settings screen.
Then goto Connections > Connection Setup and select your country and operator then click OK.
If it doesnt work then make sure you are connected to a WI-Fi connection then try again.
Then when youve successfully done this, close Connection Setup and you will be returned to the Connections screen.
Now Click Connections icon and where it says: T-Mobile Internet or Web/walk etc, Click the blue link called: Edit my proxy server.
Now uncheck the checkbox that says: This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet. (This has to be done otherwise Windows Live and Messenger wont connect.)
And you are done!
Thanks a lot, got it all sorted now

[Q] No Mobile Web Connection on Android 2.3

Hi all,
First Post I've done a search but can't seem to find an answer. I guess they are pretty common keywords though.
Last week I put CoreDroid Android 2.3 on my HTC HD2. I've had a few issues but have been able to find solutions apart from this one.
I'm not getting any web connection either through the browser, email, facebook etc. None of the apps can connect to the net even though the icon is displayed at the top (H, G, E, 3G etc). It has no problem when I'm at home and it connects via my WiFi, but when I'm out, I get no data connection. In the settings, I have it selected to use either WiFi or Mobile Web.
Any ideas?
well there can be many things that what is making it not work but first start off.... who is your provider, next look to see if your apn is right under wireless & network settings > mobile network > access point names
Thanks. You can tell I'm new to this
It was the APN settings.
Its cool everyone had to start somewhere and believe me I'm still new at it just have a great background with computer stuff
