Hello
I've seen plenty of posts around the net with people asking how to turn OFF the USB Port Cover warning that comes up when you unplug the cord. But, I want to turn mine back on. I actually like the warning popup, but I accidentally selected the "do not show again" box and now it's gone.
I do not have a rooted phone, and would prefer not to root if I don't have to at this time.
Model: SM-G900V
Android Ver: 4.4.4
Build: KTU84P.G900VVRI1ANI2
Thanks
..
Thank you. I'll look into that and see. (To be honest, it's my wifes phone and she doesn't want it rooted, I'll root my own once a Verizon root starts working again)

Not sure why your messages are both showing up as just two dots now, but I did get to read your reply in the email notification.
"Restoring a backup is always the best way to recover.
But most people don't bother to make them. And since you aren't willing to root, you can't edit the system property directly. Which means that your only option is to clear the preference you committed.
Go to the Application manager in the Settings menu and look on the "Al" submenu. You need to identify which app generates the reminder message and then choose clear cache and data for it to restore the warning. A Google search would identify the app or process name for youOnce a Verizon root starts working again?
You're misinformed. Verizon roots have been working all along.?
In regards to Verizon roots, they may work for others, it does not work for mine. I've attached two screen shots that show what phone I have, and the message that Towelroot gives me when I run it. If you could point me to something else that does work for my model phone, that would be great.
Well I'm going to try to explain myself. I had my phone rooted and everything was working fine. I don't know what happened that the root stop working. Someone in the thread of cfauto root post the solution that worked for me. Installing twrp and installing the new boot.img that the user upload. The phone works well but I have the troubles with the Wi-Fi. Everytime I restart the phone the phone forget my Wi-Fi network. Anybody having the same trouble and can help me to fix it?

During the first boot of a ROM, you have to enter your google mail adress, you have to setup your phone...
During this setup, there are choices to make : Agree to general conditions, allow GPS, etc... One of thoses choices is to allow your phone to remember all of your informations (such as wifi passwords). I think you didn't cross this box, so your phone don't remember

I think you misunderstood my problem is that my phone every time I restart forget the network
I had a similar problem in my old Note 4. I solved it by doing the following
Edit build.prop
1. ro.securestorage.support= (((change true to false)))
2. Save and copy(replace) to system folder.
3. Restart phone
Not sure if this will help you, but it may. Take a backup first ????
I'm hoping to prevent my phone from taking updates in case a root exploit is found (but then quickly patched by VZ). I've disabled updates in the developer options (Settings/About Phone/Software Info/Build Number - click 7 times to enable developer options menu / developer options menu / Automatic system updates set to off).
I did that the other day and that was after taking the first "performance" OTA which had already downloaded/installed.
I figured that would do the trick however and hour ago I had my phone sitting on my desk connected to my PC via USB and when I picked it up there was a note saying something about my phone had been updated(?). Maybe it was just a notification I hadn't gotten from the first one somehow popping late but I'm kinda confused.. And this was a message about a system update (I should have screenshotted it or read it more my first thought was **** did I not toggle that developer option correctly....but I had). It was the message saying you may want to reboot as it may have drained the battery on your phone.
I'm on Software: VS99511A
Config: B16.LGE.VS995.0
Build NRD90M
Kernel [email protected]
I noticed in Application manager if I show system I can see 2 "System Updates" and I'm guess those are what kicked on and did something while I wasn't paying attention. Can those be disabled? One of them has an advanced permission for "Modify system settings" which I toggled to "no" cause I figured at worst that would just cause an error. The other I can only force stop and then disable but when I attempt to do that it warns me that doing so would hide it and I'm afraid I might not be able to relocate it/re-enable it (w/o a factory reset?) and that could be a serious problem
How is everyone else in the "hoping root come relatively soon" boat handling updates?
Thanks for any discussion/suggestions....

In developer options there is disable automatic system updates. I like that feature.
Edit: sorry. I reread and saw you saw that. I had recently found that.
I'm still on 10b I disabled in the dev section and I get the constant you need to update but hasn't done it auto thankfully

Any idea how to get past a at&t v20 that has updates already trying to install? Flash a new ROM or maybe a factory reset? BTW its already rooted but I forgot to disable the OTA updates. Thanks. EDIT: Nevermind. Just did a wipe on dalvik and cache, which took care of the problem.
Freezing System updates 1_15_10_0 and System updates 1_16_02_0 using Titanium Backup (this requires root), will stop those messages. It was nearly the same set of processes for the V10.
I've also seen a recommendation to freeze FOTA Update 7.0, and a method using the phone's hidden menu.
I'm not addressing rootless options since this message was posted a month and half before me2151's DirtySanta bootloader and root guide was released, that's no longer an issue.
I'm on 10m and recently rooted. I cannot find 1_15_10_0...I found the other file and successfully froze it. I've also frozen the FOTA Update. I tried accessing the hidden menu, but I get an error message. On 10m, is there a 1_15_10_0?
EDIT: Sorry for digging such a long-dead thread. Didn't see the more recent one that's also active.
Hey guys I know this is OT but is it true that the v20 from Verizon is unlocked and can work with any other sim?
Alright so im dead set on rooting my phone once i realised why the **** not. Im used to jailbreaking iphones and i used to do that alot. (man its so much more complicated on android).
and im god damn stuck on the first step already.
the freaking OEM unlock option is missing??? Im into the developer mode. its not there. Now i know you have to wait 7 Days, but ive had the phone for 2 months. Is it because Ive just updated it to oreo and it reset that timer so now i have to wait seven days... (im sadly a pretty impatient person, im trying to do this at 2am instead of sleeping)
I have an international version and i know its possible. Ive got the SM-G950F Model
Please help. theres so many different guides for so many separate things and old posts and different phones and models and situations.. :c
Same problem here. BUMP!!!
I have also the same problem. my model is G955f Exynos. after flashing official Oreo Rom, CRB7, then updating that to CRE3, I can flash nothing again, not TWRP, not Cf-root, not even nougat Rom. I have tried different versions of Odin, TWRP, and Cf-root but no result. And there is also no damn OEM unlock in Developers options. Does anyone have any solution?
someone has posted here a software named "Cygwin". Its Linux tool, so hard and complicated to use for me.
If anyone can find how to use "Cygwin" to erase Nand and flash again, please reply.
the post Address is this;

Go into the settings and turn off auto-detect time. And time to transfer a month ago. Next, the developer options disable auto-update. Then go into the firmware update to disable the automatic download and click on download updates. Reboot the device and it will appear. I always do that !!!

Of all the instructions i have read.
This one is the best and working answer.
Thank you so much for your idea
1. Disable auto date/time.
2. I set my date 1 or 2 previous months ago.
3. In developer options, I disabled auto system update.
4. In Software update menu, I disable auto download update.
5. Lastly, click the "manually download update" ,I received an error but that's okay.
6. Reboot.
Voila i got my OEM Unlock option without waiting for 7 days or so

I don't have Note 8 so I can't be sure but there's no harm with the steps I mentioned.
I actually tried to re flash it clean again(for the 2nd time) with Odin, and @altai1963's trick work again.
Why need 7 or more days when you can do this?
Just try it and let others know if it works for Note 8
Goodluck!

I don't own Note 8. I needed it for the article, it will be published on the XDA portal in a couple of minutes.
Does not work for me. Every time I reboot it shows todays date and no OEM unlock.
I go to "date and time" and set to 6 weeks ago, press done.
Disable auto update time.
Disable Auto update system
Disable download updates automatically
press download manually, get error "couldn`t download update"
reboot, and time goes back to today.
What am I doing wrong.

You just need to make sure your date doesnt revert to current date time after you reboot.
Can you try turning off the sim slot? or airplane mode(then turn wifi on)so that wifi is the only wireless connection u have.
I believe mobile data/sim network auto. adjusts ur time. Let me know if this works

Nope, same issue. Airplane mode, no sim,
could be that i have june update installed ???
I can set time forward and it stays set but going back always reverts to 26th june for some reason. not even todays date.
edit: ok, think i`ve solved it. I re-flashed stock firmware on Monday as I had "only official binaries" error, could that be why I cant go back further than a couple of days? It`s the only thing i can think of why I have this problem.

Same thing happenig to me...doesn't matter if i even turn the wifi off and take out the sim card, after reboot it shows the current date.
Any confirmation whatsoever on the Note 8? Have people seriously been so scared off by the OEM Unlock issue that no-one has bought a new one recently, lol???

Sorry I cant help u with that where DATE & TIME is not sticking after reboot.
Im not sure whats the real cause but for me, the steps / bypass for OEM Unlock option is still working to me until now.
My device is SM-G950FD Dual XTC CRED build
sign into your google account (Must do)
and sign into your Samsung account
1)- change phone date manually back 10 days
2) go to settings - software update and check for update. You should receive errors messages sometime. Don't worry. Just ignore it.
3)- restart phone. After that go to settings -checking software update (when it says your phone is up to date) immediately go to Developer Options and you should see OEM Unlock appear back. You may need to try checking software update few times to get it work.
I tried that 2 days ago and it worked
So updated to latest CRG1 firmware hoping that would bring back OEM unlock function. Well it`s been over 3 weeks since update and still no OEM unlock option available.
Has this feature gone ???? It`s bootloader 3.
proven way 4 the oem unlock to reappear:
1. remove the sim card, factory reset
2. on setup screen, log in wifi, skip gmail, skip samsung account, skip the additional apps, set the time back 1 month (twice, because s8 will try to correct the time immediately)
3. untick automatically update, then check for update manually. then restart
4. sim card still out, phone self correct time, check for update manually again, then restart.
5. sim card still out, turn on developer mode, go on developer mode, wait 5 seconds n oem unlock is there.
