[Q] PSFreedom DriodX - Droid X General

Hello everyone,
Just a quick question and can't seem to find much knowledgeable information so I registered for xda! Currently I have a DriodX that is rooted, deodexed with launcher pro, clockwork recovery, ROM Manager, root explorer, etc. I was curious if PSFreedom ROM was compatiable for the Driodx. From the information I gathered since the driodx has a locked bootloader unfortunitly not only works with Driod1, HTC Driod Eris and Incredible. If compatiable can someone link the ROM and maybe a short tutorial if terminal has to be used. Thanks in advanced !!
Oh I attempted to use the ROM for the driod, but just got stuck on installing update and did not go any farther. I have a backup already made and tried to do a manuel installation using clockwork recovery same error just installing update forever.
Sincerely,
Your newest member

In addition to currently using flyx rom! !

Flashing Problems

Hey guys,
I have been trying to flash my Samsung Vibrant for a few days now with no success. I rooted the phone using superoneclick, then I clicked on Axura's link on android development section to get Axura 2.3.1.2. I followed the video posted by the dev to install the new Rom. It stated to use OCLF, then use Rom manager to install the app.
Well I went into Rom manager installed clockworkmod recovery 2.5.1.2 I believe it was. Then I click on install Rom and it asked if I wanted to backup current rom and wipe cache. I checked both and hit okay, the list came up where I had Axura installed on my Sd I clicked that......it said phone will reboot into clockworkmod recovery to load, after that is when the problem starts. It automatically goes into Samsung recovery i select reinstall packaged and get error e: signature not verified.
I have tried to get into recovery manually by holding vol -+ and power but still loads into samsung recovery not clockwork. Has anyone ran into this problem before?? I've searched all over the forum and google and could not find any info to help me with this. I really would like to install some custom Roms to try them out.
Thank you very much in advance to anyone who can help. I tried to be as specific as I can with the problem but if you guys need more info I can give more. Thank you
Have you updated to 2.2 already? The official 2.2 comes with a new recovery version, that causes problems with CWR.
If you had upgraded, odin back to 2.1, then root and flash a custom firmware from there. I recommend Bionix V 1.3.1, it is pretty beast.

I upgraded to 2.2 Froyo with Kies Mini couple of weeks ago. I was tired of waiting for it and thought it was going to be a big improvement over Eclair but didnt notice anything except losing my MMS messaging!
Is there any way to do it with Froyo before I Odin back to Eclair?
Thank you

?? I'm sorry I'm a noob to all this so I may not be understanding the quick terminology. Thank you for your response.
Therr is a thread im the dev section on how to modify the recovery but tbh its easier to odin and start the process over...it's not like you weren't going to habe to wipe the phone when you flashed custom firmwares.

1) root the device and turn s=off. Threads in the development section
2) visit the Cyanogen mod CM7 thread

Root your phone via one of the many available methods although the gfree has seemed to have some issues. I'd recommend visionary method. Once you have root and have S-off install Rom manager via the market and flash clockwork (and correct me if I'm wrong as I get confused a lot with recoveries build #'s lol) mod recovery version 2.5.1.2, 3.0.0.5 or 3.0.0.6. 3.0.0.6 is the best available currently. After flashing clockwork in Rom manager (its the first thing that pops up) scroll to download Rom and download cyanogen mod 7 rc4 from that menu. (You will have finished downloading the rom and have booted into recovery by now) MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE PRECEDING. Then Wipe data and cache via recovery and then go to install zip via SD card then choose it again find the .zip file for cm7 and hit install. It WILL take awhile to install. After it finishes reboot. Again this will take awhile. Once it comes up, wait 3 minutes or so then reboot. Then set up and your good to go. Once you've done that its basically rinse repeat for other roms. But remember to read the roms flashing instructions before hand as it may have some wacky process for flashing. Good luck!

Not to nitpick, but 3.0.2.4 is the latest version. It just came out the other day, so that's probably why you're not aware.
EDIT: To the OP, like neidlinger said, your first step is to root. This is the guide I followed and it works great: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858021.

I usually worry about the same thing with brand new releases. In this case, it seems to be good to go.
Thanks man if it looks good to you I'll probably flash it

Once you're finished with that tutorial, you'll be rooted and have a custom recovery installed. At that point, create a Nandroid backup, and then wipe all three items in the recovery menu and install the custom ROM. There is no direct Nexus S port to the MT4G, but CM7 and RoyalGinger are essentially the same thing, and in fact better, so check those out in the dev section.

[Q] Went thru process. App Manager says I'm not rooted?

I'm new to this but fairly intelligent. Well, maybe. )
I have just followed these great instructions HERE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046855
and when rebooted, there was not a super user app on there. So I downloaded it from the app store. I think maybe I did it wrong?
I'm have:
Samsung Fascinate (SCH-I500)
Firmware 2.2.1
Kernel 2.6.32.9
On Verizon.
Hardware version I500.04
I also installed Rom Manager and it told me my phone wasn't rooted. :-(
Should I just go ahead and go thru these instructions again? Someone said something about it not sticking if you don't install a custom rom. If that's so, it seems the Evil is the best rom.
Any help?
Thanks in advance.

something weird, no roms would work, need help!

Hi everyone, I been reading on this forum for a quiet some time now but never felt the need to create an account to post any questions. because i always find informative threads that help me solved my problems but not this time.
i been helping my friend to tried to install a custom rom on his D2, i wouldnt say im very experienced, but i have done it to couple other phones including a droid x so im kind of familiar with what to do.
so i rooted it, bootstrapped, using rom manager to install cwm, then bootstrapped to cwm recovery, from there wipe data / cache, then install zip from sd.
i tried with cyanogen mod first, but it didnt work, it would get stuck on the m logo after rom is installed, so i sbfed it and repeat the whole process and installed the liberty this time but same thing happened again, so i repeated the whole process again and i tried liquid smooth just now, and it still didnt work.
is there something im missing?
You need to make sure the phone is on gb. Also wipe data/cache/dalvik once before you flash and twice after.

so it has to be 2.3 and above? the system say its 2.2 right now, but the sbf file i used its "vbz a955 2.3.20_1ff" so i assumed it was on gb. is there specific version of gb i need to upgrade to?
thanks for the suggestion
To flash cm7 or any gingerbread rom you have to first be on the ota 2.3.3
Sent from my DROID2 using xda premium
ooohh thanks! whats the best way to update to 2.3.3? do you have a link? all the links i see is for 2.3.0
thanks alot hope if works
The best was to update is to sbf to stock 2.2 then accept the ota update. Then once you update you can root, bootstrap then install cm7.

CM7 and Android Market

Hi! I just flashed CM7 and for some reason the google apps wouldnt install but the ROM is working. I followed the youtube tutorial using file expert and the gapps 2.3.4 but it says it cant install for some reason. I would appreciate any help on this matter!!
Does it give you any more information?
Make sure you flash it, not try to install via Android!
Yeah, I did that. I think ill just restore and flash a new Rom.
