I hate that I can only select to sync at certain set intervals. Is there an app to control sync more?
I want to be able to, for example. Sync my news and Peep at 6.30am. Sync my contacts every night at 11.59. You get the idea.

This is something I didn't have with 2.1 on the Hero. I have my Exchange calendar, which is the only one I want to use. However, with Facebook for Sense logged in (same as I had on the Hero), it shows up in my main calendar (birthdays, events, etc).
Any way to remove only the Facebook calendar sync, without getting rid of Facebook sync all together?
Open up calendar then hit menu then more then calendars. Here you will have all your calendars and can uncheck the ones you don't want to see.
I hate that too. I ended up turning it off because I don't want all my friend's birthdays on my calendar. I'd like to have their pictures when they call, but badly enough to deal with the calendar thing.

You rock. I don't know why I didn't see this.
Thank you!
Hey all, I'm lost on this, maybe I cannot find the feature.
How do you schedule syncing? I can go into settings-accounts & sync, but I don't see anyway to set it up to lets say automatically sync ever hour or every 2 hours.
I'll use my gmail accounts as an example. How can I get them to sync on a schedule, not when the phone itself wants to sync them. Thanks!
Yeah I think I'm a moron becasue I coudn't find the sync buttons anywhere. In my G1 it was pretty easy to find, but not on this phone.
Think button is in accounts, scheduling does not exist here. I think this feature is in droid x
If you go to accounts and do a long touch on your selected account the settings for it will appear. Within this you can change the frequency that your email syncs.
Gmail syncs automatically and its push, that means as soon as you get an email the phone will download it, there is no time to set.
the other accounts (via email app) you can just press the menu button and go to settings when you are in the account and tell it how often you want it to check (5, 10, 15 mintues, etc)

Im pretty sure Gmail does not have "push". Unless they changed it in TouchWiz, Gmail never had push notifications. I use "Tasker" to schedule my syncing every morning at 4am.
I am not sure how long it's been, but it's been a while. I had a blackberry and HD2 and if you use their Gmail app instead of the email app native from the phone, it will be push and that is why there is no setting where you can change how frequent you want it to check. I can send myself an email from my work to my gmail and my phone will alert me whithin 5 seconds no matter how often I send the email... so it is push
Is there a google calendar app that comes with Froyo ?
I've been trying to sync my handset with my google account but nothing gets synced even though it says its being synced sucessfully in the settings menu.
The default calendar app looks like an HTC calendar and I dont have an icon for a google calendar anywhere. All I have is a google calendar widget which shows nothing.
I'm running a custom ROM btw.
Thanks.
I use the htc calendar because it syncs with your google calendar

Hmm, OK so the HTC calendar can actually sync with your google calendar. I just need to figure out why mine refuses to sync.
Could it be syncing them, but just not displaying them?
From the calendar, do menu-> more-> calendars and see if there are checkmarks next to the calendars you want to display.

Wow, I think that's the lowest posts-per-day ratio I've ever seen!!
I was going to post the same suggestion. Make sure your calendar is set to sync in settings>accounts>google, then make sure the calendar you want to see is set to sync AND display in the calendar app.
Where is the calendar you want to sync? If the calendar is aready on google, you have a problem, but if you are trying to sync, say, an outlook calendar with google, I'm pretty sure you have to import it to their servers before it will sync. I don't think the calendar stored in the phone (like the pcsync calender) or contacts that are stored in the phone will sync to your google account unless you import it.

I did a hard reset and I was able to get the sync working now. I'm thinking something probably happened when I synced with outlook initially. All of my calendars are showing up now.
Thanks guys.
First of all I don't have Advanced Task Killer and such ..
I noticed that Google Calendar (and Tasks) are being automatically synced to cloud only once per day. If I create a new entry either on my desktop PC or on the phone it will not be reflected on the other side until I wait 24hrs or perform manual sync.
Something is not right, since it is hard to use calendar that way. Its entries should be synced more frequently than once per 24hrs.
Should it be application business to force sync then? I use Jorte BTW.
Sync setting is on and I have calendar, contacts, gmail and Picassa sync enabled.
Gmail sync is working perfectly (well this is more like "push email" service).
Any ideas?
i could'nt sync my facebook account to my mobile
have you allowed it in settings in Facebook app?
Yeah I'd check Menu-Settings-Refresh interval in the App. Is it set at Never?
With CM7 I cant sync to contacts too.
Did you set sync type the first time you started FB. If I can remember correctly there were 2 options about contacts sync. Maybe try one or the other to see if there's any difference?
use friendcaster for android, way better than the official app imo
