Is the red dot when you type a Motorola product or an Android 2.2 product? I want to use a Blur-less ROM, but don't want to lose that cursor because it comes in handy a lot. If I go Blur-less, will I lose it? Also, what is the official name of it?
Thanks guys.
With Fission 1.2 and Rubix 1.0, you can install either the Blur(red dot) or AOSP keyboard.
cool, I will definitely consider that. So I take it that it is a Motorola/Blur product?

when i was untheming the jacmytouchskiv2.0 i noticed when i flashed the regular (themed version) that it had a black normal keyboard that typed in chinese. if you can find a rom with the english version of the cupcake vk you should be able to replace the chinese vk with the english one (well i assume you are looking for english but substitute english with whatever language if you are not lol) and it should work. i do not know where it would be located though. try pm-ing ccyrowski or cyanogen they should be able to tell you the location of it in a rom.

I don't know why you would call the htc one better... I quite hate it. The buttons are harder to press and it vibrates WAY too long. The default keyboard is much nicer -- clean and gives just a nice 'tick' of the vibrator on key press.
To install the default keyboard, copy its ".apk" file ("LatinIME.apk") into /system/app.
hello, im using a magic 32A, unrooted (and generally untouched from when i just got it, cos im waiting for the sense UI to come out), not using htc ime either, just the stock keyboard.
anw, i cant seem to find any way to delete wrongly inputted words from my dictionary. and it seems no one here has any simple way of doing it. i would actually hv thought that it would be a fairly easy process, but then again im a total tech noob so i hv no idea.
help, anyone? thanks in advance!
There is no simple way to remove them in Android 1.5...
Anyway in the 1.6 update they made it possible to remove user dictionary words... So u just have to wait furthermore for 1.6 to come out and even more to 1.6 to be integrated with Sense UI
On the mT3G it's home screen: menu: settings: location and text: user dictionary. I'm running 1.6 now but I think this was present in 1.5 as well.
Hey everyone. I'm currently waiting for my 4th hero to get here (dust under screen/end key issue - replaced with blown speaker referb model twice over, "new" one shipped and on way - all within a week's time). Sorry if this issue has been addressed before - I searched around before posting...
The "I'm" issue:
Since I have to send this hero back I flashed the official 2.1 update and noticed a really annoying glitch on the compact qwerty keyboard. Every time I type the word "I'm" by pressing "im" so that it auto corrects to "I'm" - it does not work. I cannot get the word to appear onto the text field by pressing space bar or selecting it from the suggestion menu. The auto correction chooses the right option, it just won't apply. It is easy to get around by physically typing the apostrophe, but wow... what a word to screw up. It makes it more tedious to type to my friends that "I'm on the way," "I'm going to be late," or "I'm so frustrated that I can't type 'I'm' as quickly as I'd like." "I'd" works great by the way!
Any insight into why this is happening?
By the way, thanks to all the awesome devs on this forum. I flash roms like they are candy, and can't wait to root my new Hero when it gets here (hopefully) tomorrow.
Hi! I am an iPhone convert to the HTC Hero on Sprint. Couldn't handle the crappy call quality and network with AT&T...that being said, I'm new to Android.
I followed Regaw's thread to root my Hero shortly after getting home. I am rooted. I am having issues with the standard Keyboard and decided to download some new ones to try out. While in the menu I can see the new keyboards and select them but they don't show up in any application when typing. I grabbed my brother's Moto Droid and he has an option to deselect the Android keyboard, he is also rooted and running a different ROM so I attributed it to that. After about two hours of searching and a six pack...I need help.
Please tell me I'm just an idiot and missed something really stupid...
Thanks in advance for the help!
Maybe in the input field, ie sms form, press long and chose 'input method', then your keyboard/IME?
and there we have it...i'm just an idiot.
THanks for the quick reply! Still getting used to the whole Android feel, but I'm glad I got away from the iPhone....too brainwashy for me (as I type this from my iPad) lol
THanks again!
Don't worry about it. I only know it because I had exactly the same problem when getting used to my Legend. Lol. Talk about intuitive software design. ;-)
Still one of the best gadgets I ever owned. I'm loving it. ;-)
Hello guys
I am not sure if I am the only one being annoyed with it but... I installed a custom ROM ALLIANCE v5.5
I am using the swipe native keyboard from Samsung and so far I LOVE it ... BUUUUUT
1/ when I type a wrong word, I have to delete back letter by letter (in previous versions, backspace button was erasing the full word and it was more friendly)
2/ If I type an entire sentence and I notice some words are wrong, and I need to correct a letter, and press the "proposed word" to go faster, it adds an additional space after.
That may sounds like boring ****, but it is noticeable when you text or write an email to someone...
I remember it was not occuring with previous versions.
I tried to mention it to ALLIANCE ROM thread but no reply.
Any idea where I could get another version?
Thanks guys

Maybe you can test 3rd app like swipe keyboard (the best) or swiftkey
Dunno where you can find the one you search.
What version exactly do you search?
Best regards
