Hey guys,
I have a Tmobile USA HTC HD2.
It has HardSPL flashed.
I've had no problems retrieving my Hotmail on my HD2 until today.
Suddenly I keep getting an error message that says, "The Windows Live ID service requires a certificate, but yours isn't working. YOu can probably fix this by updating the time and date in your device's settings. After you do that, try connecting again."
Any idea how to fix this?
Sounds like a stupid question but you didn't mention if you did; Update the time and date? Soft Reset?
yeah, if you've been playing in android land, your time can be way off (months), check the date and time.
You guys were right.
I actually tried this the first time, but it didn't work.
Wasn't until I rebooted and did it again that it finally stuck.
Thanks!

I put up a brief post about this in the WM6 subforum and didn't get a response. I am going to try it again here because i have still had no luck and i have completely run out of things to try, and because i think this is the right forum for it anyways.
Forgive the lengthy explanation, but i felt it would be better to be as explicit as i can with what is happening and what i have tried.
I am only trying to use a basic pop3 email account (comcast) in regular messaging. This same account worked fine on my 8525 BEFORE flashing over to WM6, and i'll explain below exactly what i did to do that. The basic problem I am having is this: The account sets up OK and downloads the messages from the server on initial setup, but it takes a VERY LONG time that time and every other time after when it goes to send/receive emails. And after the initial download it WILL NOT RECEIVE any new messages, but it will however send, albeit very slowly.
I am pretty sure that when i upgraded from WM5, i did everything correctly. I flashed SSPL 2.10 Olipro, the i flashed Radio 1.57.07.00, then i flashed to VP3G's 3.63.3
This is when the problem started. I since then flashed the ATT WM6.1 official, then a Faria Rom, then back to WM6.1 official, now finally back to the latest WM5 version (the same one that came with the phone originally). I have done a hard reset as well and that didnt fix it either. The problem has been the same ever since it started with the first upgrade flash. It hangs for a long time(every step of the send/receive process, even when disconnecting), then comes away with no new messages.
I am really at wits end for what to try to get this back up and running like it was. Losing the messaging ability is going to kill me and will eventually have to trade out to another phone if i can't resolve it.
The one thing I am recalling now that did go less than smooth during my early flashes, was that i did get some kind of a .NET Framework error, it happened on a couple of occasions actually, and gave me the option to debug or terminate and i believe that after that i upgraded to the 3.5 version and i haven't noticed that message since. I believe that the flashes went through succesfully, but i might have gotten that message after it was complete and the flash worked so i didn't pay it too much mind. I am not sure what that means so any info on if that could be linked to my problem would help.
Any suggestions or advice at all would be well appreciated at this point. Thanks very much in advance...
Hello, did you ever find a solution for that issue? I am suffering with this same behaviour...
Please help!
Regards,
Joao
hi,
in my case i think the problem was really my own email server. i had too many messages and once i deleted some or all, it worked much better.
Try that and hopefully you'll get success
Hello,
Could anybody help me? I've just restored my o2 xda orbit 2 (polaris/cruise). Now I can't get my push-email to work any more, Activesync keeps saying 'Attention Required' when I force a sync. I've tried over WiFi, and my cellular provider.
I'm using mail2web live to collect me email, I've not changed any settings, apart from re-entering the username/password/server on my device to see if this helps. I've removed the server, and re-added it, with no such luck.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do (aside from a hard reset) to try and rectify this?
Thanks
Chris.
Are you sure the hostname of the mailserver is correct? I'm unsure if that hex code is a general error or specific to an issue.
I got the same code when I misspelled our OWA Exchange server on my ActiveSync.
Turns out I forgot to put .com after our domain.
It'd surely be better if it had reasonable errors like "Unable to resolve hostname." wouldn't it? That way you don't have to call India Microsoft Tech support to make sense of some codes?
I tried removing the settings and re-adding them, to no avail. I had to bite the bullet and hard-reset, reinstall all my apps etc.
It's all up and running again now.
Still would like to know what caused this. In case it ever happens again.
I agree about the error codes. I know sometimes they are accompanied by a description or error message, but this time the code was so generic it might as well have just told me to hard reset and start over.
Thanks anyway
This is so ****ing lame! It will take me 30 minutes to put my phone back the way it was after a hard reset

Did you solved this?
I have the same error and not able to solve it.
Mf
i noticed that right after a fresh flash it works just fine. its after i install all my crap that it breaks. im going to reflash ONE MORE TIME. this time im going to soft reset after each single cab I install and test activesync after each reset to see which cab/theme/setting/app it is that breaks it. ill report back in a few hours.
Hi, did you have any luck finding out what was causing this? I'm now getting it completely out of the blue and the apps on my phone are exactly the same as they always have been.
I hard-reset put all my apps back and it won't work.
Hard-reset and leave it as is and push works fine.
Just weird!
I never managed to be able to reproduce this error. I'm currently running MightyROM 4.9.4 and my Activesync works fine...
Use a backup software and you should be able to trim off the install time of all your apps.
hello
got the Ka-glom game for free form MS winmo website but it freezes on the title screen...
any of you managed to get any further?
could it be a problem specific to the Vodafone UK ROM?
thanks in advance
Eeek. It does indeed make a right mess of my Vodafone TP2!
At first it seemed fine; asked for email address and confirmed it or something, then had a screen with sound controls, then it crashed. If I try to start it up again it crashes or makes everything go black and non-responsive. When it does come back and I managed to close it from the X, I get repeated error messages about it... Soft reset, uninstall, soft reset time
The error message says amongst other things the Faulting Thread is 0x8C2732AE
Tried it on a Diamond2 and it also doesn't work... freezes at intro screen. but at least you can close it without major issues.
Maybe it's just a crap game!?!
at least you got an error message! I get nothing...
checked on magicmic website... it looks like the support is as bad as the game...
uninstalled... sorted...
Hi All,
Just tried buying an app from the marketplace and got this message:
"Can't get this info right now..."
I just spent about an hour searching various forums, and there seems to be a real difference of opinion about what this message means. Some posters suggest that it indicates a problem at MS's end (i.e. they're doing maintenance, something is wrong with Windows Live etc), and so the best thing to do is sit tight. Others seem to think it is user problem, and you need to reset the phone, clear the history in IE, turn on/off cookies in IE, etc... Given I didn't change anything on my phone and this just started happening for no obvious reason, I'm inclined to think its an MS problem. Anyone else dealt with this? Advice would be helpful as I don't want to waste time trying all the suggested solutions online...
I am having this same problem. It just started about 2 days ago. Saw all the same suggestions you mentioned, but none solved it.
I have not tried a factory reset, but it seems like an MS server issue.
I ended up doing a factory reset, but that didn't help. I think the problem is that I was using a US-based live account in Canada, and somehow the phone decided to lock me out of the marketplace due to my non-US IP address. Ended up resetting the phone again and then setting it up with a Canada based live account. Now everything is fine (although I have no access to the Zune marketplace). I wonder if the Feb update did something...
May also have something to do with the purchase validation cookie that sits on the phone...
Is anyone else still having problems downloading apps from the marketplace? When I tap install button I keep getting the message that says "Can't get this info right now. Check back in a little while" Is anyone else having this same issue today? This is the first time I've ever had issues with the marketplace, I've had this phone for almost a month. Seems like it's on Microsoft's end, any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Seem to be other people on the XDA main forums having the problem...
Well whatever was causing the problem seems to have been fixed. I'm now able to download apps again =)
Hey everyone,
This is actually my parents tablet so I'm not entirely sure what happened. They told me it was updated and it looks like a factory reset was performed. It prompts for the account associated with the tablet and I used my mom's email/pass and it says "There is an unexpected error. Try again in 24 hours". I've waited multiple days multiple times and still get the same error. When I try a different login, it says I need to use the account that was previously being used. I tested my mom's credentials elsewhere and they were fine.
It's out of warranty from Asus now and I couldn't find much info online.
Am I SOL? Can I load a new ROM on to it to fix this issue?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

This sounds like an error with GOOGLE NOT THE OS. There must be something about errors like this on other devices.
P.S. sorry about the capitals, it just makes the most important part easily readable
