hello i have a rogers htc magic and its been 2 days that I have a problem. I tried to install version 6.0 Cyanogen stable. I will install software on my phone with the application rom manager. Here are my step:
1 - click on the flash recovery clockwork.
2 -download version 6.0 Cyanogen Cyanogen on the site.
3 - put on sd card
4 - click in Roma manager install a rom from the sd card.
5 - reboot phone.
and now my phone restarts and the problem happens on the logo of the company (me that rogers (canada)) then after all the logo is an image and black on the bottom left is marked clockworkmod v. 2.5.0.1 (it is marked this up to 1 second) then the phone restarts and the process is always redone.
tank you

Hello everyone!
I got an HTC Magic Vodafone 32B with a build DRC92.
I tried the Cyanogen Mod Wiki for my phone. But it failed to run the COC10 build (sappimg.nbh).
Then I did used the gold card way by Armon_RA and then it would do the SAPPIMG.nbh and I return to the cyanogen wiki.
I followed the steps with the only problem that I had to tap the FlashRec a couple of times (hit the "back up recovery image" 3 times before something happend)..
I did the last steps ind "Flash Android 1.6 & CyanogenMod 4.2.2/4.1.9999"
But when I came to
step 12 - Wait. This will take a couple of minutes. Be patient!
It never happend... It just showed the lame red Vodafone image all the time...
Then I tried to use the lastes ROM 4.2.3 but still the same...
I will donate 50 $ to the first one who can help me quickly so I can get my phone back with cyanogen.
Bonus info
I formatted the SD card (had only one) before the use of FlashRec.

Suggest you to check the link on www.wmpoweruser.com where the admin says something about android rom upgrade. You can email him and probably save the the 50 bucks.

Was there any info on why it would not run it?
Did you format your SD card as FAT32?
For how long did you wait on the Vodafone screen? I've read it takes even up to 10 minutes...
I've found also that if it gets stuck on the Vodafone screen you have to reboot into recovery mode (with the Cyanogen's Recovery), wipe your phone (whatever does it mean) and apply again the new rom - overally here's much info on that issue.
Also, here I've found a ready Cyanogen 3.9.6 rom for your device.
That I preciesly did

Here is the steps that I did from the hole beginning:
1. Cyanogens wiki - No luck
2. Tried 1-click Flash - Didn't work.. (been having serious trouble with this app)
3. Made a Goldcard of the SD card (still have the .img file)
4. Returned to Cyanogens wiki and used the SAPPIMG.nbh
5. Fastbooted and updated - this changed the phone completely to an HTC startup and UI. The build was also changed.
6. Formatted the SD card to fat32
7. Transfered the FlashRec.apk from Zen and installed it on the phone with the "App Installer" from the market.
8. Tapped the "Make backup image" - Failed
. Tapped the "Make backup image" - Failed
9. Tapped the "Make backup image" - Failed
10. Tapped the "Make backup image" - Succeed!
12. Tapped the "Download Recovery Image"
13. Tapped the "Flash recovery image" - failed
14. Tapped the "Flash recovery image" - Succeed!
15. Transfered the "HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip" AND "update-cm-4.2.2-signed.zip"
16. Made a recovery boot (Power + home)
17. Selected "wipe data/factory reset" and confirmed
18. Selected Select "apply any zip from sd"
19. Selected the "HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip" and confirmed
20. Selected "apply any zip from sd" again
21. Selected "cm-4.2.2-signed.zip" and confirmed
22. Tried to boot. FAILED - only red damn Vodafone logo..
23. Tried to transfer the "cm-4.2.3-signed.zip" and run it in recovery but still the same bug..
24. Tried all the funktions in the Recovery Boot - no luck the I typed this thread and cried myself to sleep
25. Got up with a positive thinking and posted thinking
26. Tried a fast boot with the SAPPIMG.nbh - Failed -> something with old version
27. Made my SD card a gold card again
28. Tried a fast boot with the SAPPIMG.nbh - Failed -> same error
29. Removed the SAPPIMG.nbh (which I got from Cyanogens wiki) and replaced it the the zip "SAPPIMG.zip" from Amon_RA's thread.
30. Did a Fast boot and the update succeed - happy face..
31. Then I booted and I got the HTC 1.5 (Build 2.16.151.1 146733 CL#31685 test keys) back.. - Please remember that when I started I had a DRC92 Build
32. Did some thumbing with 1-click FlashRec - My SD card was still a gold card but a friend borrowed me an SD (Kingston) card but they didn't seem to do a difference so used the gold card because Amon_RA said something about Kingston not good
- Launched it and it showed the text: "Phone type is EBI/32A"
????? My phone is a 32B ??????????
- it would only let me do a "make backup" which failed all the time..
- transfered "recovery-RA-magic-v1.2.3G.img" to the SD and renamed it to "g.img"
- tried to launch it from the textbar with this code "sdcard/g.img" but no luck..
- Transfered the "recovery-backup.img" I made in step 10 and did a restore..
- tried the sdcard/g.img again.. no luck
- It showned me that it wanted to dowload "cm-recovery-1.4-32a.img" and i tried to change the "a" to "b" but no luck..
- Then I made a trick.. renamed "g.img" to "recovery-backup.img" and did a restore.. it work after some taps..
In all these steps above it failed a couple of time but I just tapped once more and some times it proceed.
33. Tried to make a Recovery Boot but nothing happend...
So button line is that Im stuck with an HTC 1.5 Cupcake with no root access or options to upgrade to 1.6 donut.. The only good thing is that I got HTC's pretty interface.. but no universal search! (tried the apps for universal search but they are too laggy)
Can anyone help me to get Cyanogen mod and still have 1.6 and the ability to upgrade when 2.0 comes out?
Okay.. I have played around with the phone for a while now.. Done a few things, and think i found the problem.. My FlashRec didn't do the job correctly (Right now it says that my phone is a 32A which it is NOT).
Does anyone have a guide to do flash a recovery of Amon RA or CM by USB cable (I have Vista)?
correct me if i'm wrong but is this guide about flashing an android rom onto a wm device?
You're wrong, it's about flashing a Cyanogen rom on Android devices.

Precisely! And how to do that by using a windows vista computer instead of the FlashRec app.
Hi everybody,
I just got my 1.5 cupcake Magic yesterday from SFR (Vodafone french carrier). I discovered it had a perfect-SPL and used both tuts found on this forum to get over it. First I made my goldcard then used id to fix the perfect-SPL. I followed everything step-by-step. Everything went fine and my phone went from a 1.5 cupcake Vodafone with Google french rom, to a HTC 1.5 cupcake english rom with non-perfect SPL.
Now I try to flash with a rom by Luo (at SmartPhone France forums) wich is based on Ion.
I installed the SDK on my XP Pro SP3 PC, and the drivers form the SmartPhone France wiki, when needed by XP with the Magic connected on USB Debug mode and Fastboot mode. My SDK Tools folder is on the windows PATH of course, and I put the Amon_Ra recovery IMG in it. The Luo rom ZIP file is at the root of my freshly low-formated FAT32 memory card, and the card is back in the phone.
When I start in Fastboot mode and then type the
fastboot boot nameoftherecovery.img command line on my PC, it says it's loading the file.
Then on the phone screen a tiny green progress bar fills up from bottom to top in the top right corner of the screen, when full, the phone vibrates briefly, then restarts, show me a magnificent htc magic logo and stays like that forever. I never get a chance to get to the menu that I need to wipe then flash.
I guess I'm not bricked since I can boot normally and access the fasboot, and not in perfect-SPL anymore, but hell yeah I'm in some deep sh*t and fed up already as it's been 24hrs I had my phone and can't use it ...
Any clues you pros ?
Thanks in advance !
Then on the phone
try turning it off for a while and then turn on, Otherwise try flashing one of dwangs roms.If you have the same problem as i do i cant flash any modified boot.img over 2MB it says write image error thus when you flash its not actually flashing the boot.img its using the one previously on the phone
The problem is solved. VincentjuanFR has followed the tutorial from AmonRA to disable a perfect SPL. But this tricks installs a 32A radio on the phone whereas he's got a 32B. Then, the recovery for 32B cannot boot.
he used the recovery for 32A to flash a 32B radio and then his phone was fine again.
Hello..
I have a HTC Magic (32b) in my hands
after it has been used for approximately 1 year (10 month with root and Hero ROM) due to an exchange of the SD card the phone has crashed ...
I can log in to Fastboot and Recovery mode
initially, at startup, it only appeared the mobile operator logo
after a wipe
Hero logo appears with the jingle, then goes on loop .. (Op + Hero logo)
What can I do?
Thank you very much
Maybe I wrote in the wronge section...
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
no one could help me..??
flash the original ROM over without wiping. If that doesn't work, just wipe and reflash.
Hello this is my PROBLEM. I received the phone FREEZE on startup HTC logo. I do not know anything about the RADIO, Rom version anything. The Phone is able to enter bootloader.
1. I tried to flash using custom rom file and its UPDATED but still same.
2. I flash with OFFICIAL ROM (Flash 100%) : _HTC HD2_RUU_Leo_S_Orange_FR-B2B_3.14.73.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
Flash using both SD card and ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Still same !!
Still same. I Don't know what to DO more. Customer do not know how it happens.

6. installed drivers for windows 7
7. installed recovery 5.0.2.6
8. using recovery I created partition 1 GB for a2sd swap 0
9. copied TyphooN_CM7_v3.7.0-cLK to SD card
10. start installation
11. after install I rebooted HD2
12. HD 2 started to boot android showing picture on the screen and after 30 minutes is still booting android.
so what have I done wrong ?
BTW is typhoon CM 7.1.0 v3.7.0 android version 2.3.7 or 2.3.3 ?
its fairly widely found that occasionally a rom wont boot first time. ive known it happen two three times in a row after a fresh flash.
First pull the battery, restart, see if it catches this time, give it ten mins, max. If no joy, try again, pull teh battery and restart.
If after 2/3 times it hasnt started, go into recovery (cwm) and in there do a 'wipe data/factory reset'. restart, see if it takes this time. next id try doing teh reset and then reflashing the rom.

Where exactly does it hang? On the Android logo after MAGLDR or on the boot animation? If bootanimation, just pull battery and wait, first time flashing Typhoon for me resulted in me waiting around 30mins without luck before I pulled battery and tried again, and it booted straight away.
