Please Help - Phone stuck at M screen - Droid X General

Please help I don't know what to do. I did a stupid thing. I have a rooted droid X and I used root explorer to follow the instructions on the below website to try and get arabic font support, but now after reboot it is stuck at the M boot screen. Is there anything I can do to go into recovery mode and then what commands can I run to rename the files back without having to do a factory reset. I did make a copy of them before overwriting them. Please help.

Thanks.

Please anyone??

I pulled the battery, but that didn't help. Before I do a factory reset, what does "apply sdcard:update.zip" in the recovery mode do?

Maybe try deleting the cache in recovery. Not sure if that'll do anything but there's a chance I suppose.

Thanks for the reply, but what does deleting the cache do?

It won't hurt anything.

Problem im having is i have clockwork downloaded but everytime i try to reboot it automatically loads clockwork recovery and i have to hit the reboot option. Is there any fix that? Thz in advance.

Do you have the x bootstrap recovery installed ? Click the first button & it will say success, do this before every reboot, then reboot. Try reflashing clockwork to make sure its the latest version. Hope this helps.

Gingerbread recovery issues

Is anyone else not able to get into recovery? I can't access stock or clockworkmod recovery.
When I try to do a factory reset through the phone phone boots into bootloader with an error message.
As always thanks for looking.

DXrecovery doesn't work with gingerbread, you gotta use the D2recovery instead

How do I get the D2 recovery for my DX. Sorry for the noob type?
So no stock recovery either?

you need to get an sbf file of 2.2.1 and then use rsd lite to flash it to your phone... then you can use clockwork to get back.
I understand that. I'm trying to wipe data to clear up the constant sync error except I have no way of wiping data. Make sense?

Recovery Access in GB
Besides using a reboot into rocovery app, you can also shut down the phone, then pull the battery, put the battery back in and the normal Vol Down + Power will get you into Clockwork Recovery. Seems like GB is in some kind of stand by mode even when you power it down.

Did you make sure that "Re-Partition" in Odin is NOT checked (!!!) before clicking the start button?
Regardless, This thread may help.

OK... that's actually, a good thing.
Now, I assume that you have cwm2.5 on your sd card, and one of the roms, correct? If not, put them on there, making sure that they are not in any folder.
Once you've done this, boot into recovery, and scroll down to the second option (apply sdcard:update.zp) and tap the "menu" key firmly.
Next go to "install zip from sd card" and use the power button to select.
after that, scroll to "choose zip from sd card" and select it with the power button
Then, find the rom, and select it with power button. Then "Yes"
After it installs, use the back key to back up to the main cwm menu and go to wipe cache and select it.
Then, go to advanced, select it, then wipe dalvik cache, and select ye on it.
After you have done all this, back up to the main cwm menu again and select 'reboot system now".
Get something to drink. It'll take a while on first boot. DO NOT PULL YOUR BATTERY!!
Ok went back into recovery and did wipe cache worked fine then tried wipe data/factory reset and got E:can't mount/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 (no file or directory ) E:install_application _for_customer :can't mount H IODENSDCARD then it says your storage not prepared yet, please use Ui menu for format and reboot actions
So how do I do that ???

did you do this before or after you installed the rom? If it was before, I'd imagine it's because there was no rom on there to reset. Flash the rom, then reboot normally. Once it boots, then go back into recovery and try wiping.
Ok trying it now thanks for all the help

Did I ruin my G2 (won't boot, can't reflash)

So today I tried to install Omnirom on my rooted G2. I did all of the usual steps (using CWM) and then rebooted. It got stuck in a boot loop, and I realized I forgot to factory wipe/cache wipe after installing the rom. I went back to recovery and tried to wipe, but it got stuck on Formatting cache. I then noticed that CWM had problems wiping, mounting and accessing /cache. I searched around but found nothing to help me.
I then tried to unroot and return to stock using LG FlashTools and the device's Download Mode but everytime I try to flash the kdz file it fails on 47% with some "Page Error" followed by garbled Unicode characters...
Is there anything I can do?

Thanks for the reply and the link! I, however, don't have access to ubuntu, is there anyways to do this on Windows? Also, I can go to both Recovery and Download modes, if that helps.
Wipe system then retry reflashing stock.

If you still need a ubuntu, use a portable version of Ubuntu or run one from Virtua Machine. It's very difficult to boot one from your flash drive..
