Poor USB file Transfer Speeds - Need Help - Epic 4G General

I need help to figure out why transferring files from my win 7 64bit PC is so slow to my Epic? It takes forever to transfer even small files. Sometimes it just hangs. I tried uninstalling the 64 bit drivers and reinstall new ones. Nthing works. It used to work fine.
I have no issues on my win 7 64bit laptop.

Have any malware/virus scanners running that may be trying to read the contents of the SD card? How consistent are the speeds, and what are they?

About connecting Note to Kies.....

Hi all, my Note cannot connect to Kies....which after I checked with the internet is a very conman problem for Galaxy. I still want to make it works and I have some questions if anyone can help....Thanks in advance!
1) I checked some web site that to connect with Kies in computer (mine is Win7 64 bits) that we should first go to the phone's Setting-->About phone-->USB connect-->connect with Kies....... However in my Note there is no such setting in About Phone and I checked all areas in Setting but there is no USB connect-->Kies....... where is it?
2) Although I cannot connect with Kies at my computer but I can still use MTP connection is that all with Note?
3) If I cannot connect with Kies do I still get update from Samsung? I noticed that in my phone setting--> about phone section, there is one are that can click in to check updates, so what should I do?
Thanks again everyone....
Kies will not connect to 7" Tab, Galaxy S or Galaxy Note on my 64bit Windows 7 Ultimate system. Have tried older versions, latest version, Repairing and numerous drivers as there are posts elsewhere of 64bit driver issues. Works fine in MTP mode and Kies Air.
Have no such problems on XP professional.
Glad I am not the only one but it seems to be a Kies problem rather than the phones/tablets.
Any help would be appreciated by those of us suffering!

The USB connection utilities are under Wireless and Networking, however chances are your Kies issue is because you have USB Debugging turned on.

No - it's off - as I said, it works fine with all three Samsungs on my XP Pro machine but not on Win7 64bit machine. However, ADB works fine on both machines so I'm pretty sure that it's a problem Kies has with a driver.

ah good to know win7 ult 64 doesn't support it, that explains a few things. But why isn't total commander copying and pasting to it. ?
My 7" tab can connect to kies running on a 64 bit win 7 ultimate and home basic without any issues.

My SGS connect on my 64bit Win7, not ultimate though. I can remember that it couldn't connect at first, I think I had to change the USB Settings. Give it a try

Am from Hong Kong....may be is the WIN 64 bit problem, I am using Win 7 professional not ultimate, and will continue test it, may be DL Kies from UK....
BTW what funny is that I send this problem to Samsung all they said is to reset the machine to factory default and try..... guess not much help....
Connected fine on my win7 64bit ultimate. Must be some other issue. Impressed with the functionality

I agree with post #8, had same problem, phone unlocked from UK, downloaded Kies from UK samsung site and no problems on Windows 7, 64 bit. Try download from different Samsung site.
are you using any other launcher? Tried on my wife's phone the other day (different phone). It only connects when the phone is in the Samsung Launcher with every apps closed.
64 bit fine. I had a similar issue until I saw one blog article that said "once USB debugging is off *kill all tasks*" - did that and it worked fine.
Have to say, the concept of Kies for firmware upgrades works really well (as a piece of consumer software) though, as a colleague said, you can see why they are in hot water with Apple - it's a direct rip of iTunes!

Yep, I hate both with a passion
Won't run at all !
Kies UK won't run at all. I immediately get "Kies has stopped working" The phone shows up fine in Explorer. I'm Windows 7 64 bit.
I tried :
Uninstall from Device Manager then reinstall.
Install as Administrator.
Uninstalled Windows Mobile Device Manage
I tired every Kies thread Google showed. 5 hours so far.

I got likewise. Think it was related to the USB drivers. Worth making sure USB debugging is off and the phone pops "MTP connection"* in the title bar prior to trying to run Kies.
My anti-virus also affected it. If you run, turn it off prior to installation - if you've already installed, turn it off and to a Repair (Change) from Add/Remove programs.
Win 7 Home Premium X64 plus UK Kies plus German Note = success for me. No drama, no hoops, no fiddling with antivirus or firewall settings. Easy peasy.
The only issue was needing to disable USB debugging on the phone, which was not made at all clear in the message issued by Kies.
Windows 7 64-bit home premium, no problems with this or the sgsii....

NO luck on my iMac
So i tried my laptop with windows 7, when i connected the Note it had to update several things. That took a while, and i ahd an update from Kies. After all that it said immediately that there was an update for my Note with a few improvements. I bought mine in The Hague in The Netherlands, but it is a German version. He is stil busy as we speak, at 99%
It started working for me on win7 64bit after I unchecked USB debugging under applications-->USB debugging. If memory serves I had the same problem on SGS.

Macintosh MTP issue? Try this.

So i've been with android since its beggings since about 2.0 on my HTC Hero GSM and switched over various OS's and never had an issue with file transfers.
Here comes the new Galaxy S3 and all the new 4.0 + devices that now use MTP which works perfectly well on windows, but we all know its a pain in the behind for both Linux distro, and Macintosh 10.5- and 10.7+
After trying Various apps that enable UMS i came around Easy UMS which was a possible fix, exept it didnt work on my wonderful AOSP roms nor the custom ones i flashed either, there we go frustrated again.
Tried AOSP ums mounters, tried mounting over a terminal emulator and neither of them worked quite well. so i decided to go ahead and turn on a VMware windows 7 virtual machine which then allowed me to connect my SIII and gave me access to both external and internal 16GB cards, with a wonderfull speed where i was able to transfer the last leaked software which was around 700mb in less than 20 seconds.
Now this is not a fix, its an alternative. i found funny how easy it was in windows compared to either mac or linux and if you dont have access to a windows computer. VM is the easiest way out and is not something everyone thinks about everyday. it might not be a fix for the guys who dont exploit their computers to what they are capable off but those of us who are a bit geeky can get access to this speed without installing Bootcamp.
If any of you mac users would like to know how to install a VM on your mac to get access to this useful feature as well as some other benefits dont mind leaving me a PM or just ask for help and i will assist you
Dont forget to click on the thanks button if this thread was of eny help to you.
Best regards.

Incredibly Slow WiFi Speeds - XPS M1530

Well I did some research on Google, and the solution can't be to just get a new wireless card.
I just installed Windows 8 Professional, and I'm running a Dell XPS M1530 (2.1Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Model, 4gb Ram)
I understand it is a little dated, but my WiFi is INCREDIBLY Slow.. Speedtest.net shows download speeds of no more then 2-3mbps, Windows 7 64 was giving me 20-25mbps, also all my Android Devices are showing the same as well.
This is a fresh install so there should be nothing using my WiFi on the system.
The Wifi Card that came with the PC is a
Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card by Broadcom
I can't find a solution, I downloaded a 80mb drivers from Broadcom that was for Windows 7 (No download for Windows 8) and it just failed, I don't understand where Windows 8 automatically got its driver from then. Right now I'm messing with settings to see if I can get my original speeds back, but I was hoping someone else who had a WiFi issue like this one could help me out?
======================SOLVED======================
Ok, if anyone is having this issue with ANY dell laptops that aren't giving correct speeds and you are running any of the following chipsets/models of wireless:
1390, 1490, 1500 series
Then you need to download the following from Dell's website
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails?driverId=GGMKP&fileId=2940568496
You will notice is says it is for users outside of the US and JAPAN, but it worked completely fine for me, and I am in the US (So is my laptop )
Anyway, uninstall the older drivers you have by going to Device Manager, and then just run this installer, everything should install fine and Wireless will be up and running with no problems!
Try running the driver installer in Win7 compatibility mode. Win8 is NT 6.2 (Win7 was 6.1) and should be backward-compatible for drivers. However, many driver installers will fail if they *think* they are on h wrong version.
Alternatively, make sure that 802.11n mode, or at least a or g mode, is enabled in the driver. It sounds like you're getting 802.11b speeds. I don't know *why* the driver would default to using b only, but it is an option on pretty much all WiFi drivers. You can find this setting by accessing the driver through the Device manager, or the Network Connections Adapter Properties info.
I will have to update my post. I tried all settings, there wasn't even anything for N, but I set it to B/G and just G, but I was getting the same speeds.
After much research I came across some fellas that were using the Dell Wireless 1510 (I'm on 1505) and they were having the same exact issue. One solution was to download a specific driver to get the wireless to function properly and extra the .INF files to install manually. Well I did that and I got IRQ errors in Windows 8 resulting in crashes. I looked more on Dell's website and found some drivers for the 1505, 1510 and a bunch of 40xx series if I remember correctly, as well as many others that are used to fix this issue, and they worked in Windows 8 without compatibility mode and installed fine.
I now have my 25/4 connection back on track!
I'm going to edit my post as soon as I get the files and correct links around, I know a lot of people may be having this issue with Dell Laptops and Dell Wireless hardware and just don't know it, I didn't notice until I started downloading files.

Xender File Transfer - Used it?

Xender appears to be included in the marshmallow stock rom....after playing with it a bit and using it to transfer some TWRP backups from my phone to my pc it appears to work really well. Was curious what results others were getting?
I uninstalled it as I use OTG to get things on and off my phone to my pc. I think I might give it a shot if it's faster.
Xender works ok, I've been using AirDroid for a while with no issues, simple to use.
Works great for me. I can easily transfer files from my Chromebook and tablet. Fast speeds for me as well.
