So i got an icon on my notifications bar that said "DM" Device Management, and i know that meant that my update was being downloaded OTA. After about 1 minute, it went away. I already installed the JI6 manually through ODIN. So could that just mean that it was recognized that i already had the update, or did it "fail" because i had a manually installed ROM? Thanks for the help.....This is my first post by the way. I love XDA.
My GF just got her update notification today and it nearly bricked her phone. Mine is already updated through odin, so i figured i just let her phone update through ota. Well, the update failed on her and it caused her phone to get stuck on the Vibrant screen. This happened while we were out, but the good news is that the ota update fix the hardware lock. I used odin and flashed the update again and all is well. For the ones that knows how to use odin, I would highly recommend updating it yourself through odin.
I upgraded my phone via kies from stock jf3 to JP6/JPM/JP4 everything was running good for weeks now.
But yesterday i screwed up my phone, but i could get into download mode and since i cant flash jp6/jpm/jp4 via odin (or can I??) i decided to go back to jf3 and upgrade via kies again.
So i downloaded jf3 from samfirmware and flashed via odin, went fine! I then connected to kies and i can upgrade firmware but not to jp6/jpm/jp4 instead i get option to upgrade to JPA/JPP/JP4...
why does i not get jp6/jpm/jp4 and/or what should i do to get it?
different csc file with jf3 maybe?? sadly i cannot remember wich csc file i had with jf3 before...
Any help would be much appreciatet
JP6 was taken down by Samsung, as it had some bugs.
Right now official version of Froyo for nordic countries is JPA.
So everything is as it should be. You won't get JP6 by Kies any more - instead you get newer JPA.
argh... OK! thank you very much...!
jpa runs very smooth with speedmod froyo kernel and advanced jfs lagfix!
But then again, so did jp6...
Hi all,
I updated my phone using the Motorola update manager, but my phone still prompted to download the latest update - I clicked yes, and WIFI only, but it just fails and comes up with an error message and a notification I can't remove. Does anyone know of a way to 'cancel' the update? Or am I stuck with this annoying notification and pop ups?
Thanks for any help
I have the same exact problem...I did the update via sbf... weird..
X3, same problem lol. On wifi it says update not available then says its currently downloading an update but does nothing
Well, then you know exactly what the problem is already.... if you SBF update, you aren't OTA updating, and the phone probably asked you to update OTA and you went ahead and flashed over it. I did that on my phone on Sunday, and had to flash back to 4.1.26 in order to OTA all the way up to 4.1.83, via 4.1.57 first. Follow the steps in order like you should and you won't have any issues - my phone works just fine on 4.1.83 after OTA updating it twice, and rooting it with GingerBreak!
Thanks for the responses guys.
If anyone finds a way of removing this problem without having to flash back and then upgrade again, please share the info!
Cheers.
I've installed gingerblur so the OTA route doesn't work (it gives me this ! mark and did nothing), so I have to use sbf method....I guess I could sbf it to 1.2.6 and then OTA it, but I suspect many of the system changes I made will be gone.
I tried downloading the 2.3.4 OTA, but I'm in a wifi deadzone, so it never went anywhere.
I downloaded the update file directly from Motorola, but I can't use it with the usual instructions, because the phone keeps telling me that a download is in progress.
Is there a way to cancel the OTA download, or force it to download over regular data channels instead of wifi, or is there another way to use the update file I grabbed?
hey there
for some reason i can't update to ME2 via Kies nor OTA.
got a i9505.
rooted it with cf-autoroot.
then used TriangleAway to get back to "offical" and Kies and OTA are buyin' it.
It downloads the updated but when its starts to install i get erros.
via OTA i just get a "dead" android figure and the word "error" and the s4 reboots
via Kies i get something like a timeout message after my phone booted into download mode, telling me it couldnt find my phone and i should pull the battery. i just hold down the powerbutton to reboot.
i changed everything back to stock undid the changes i made to the csc file and everything
any hints? :-/ i know i can flash it with odin aswell but i dont wanna lose my data and settings. maybe if i got some more time i will but for now i'd like to update via OTA or kies.
thanks so far
