After upgrading my rom to a new rom, i got a voicemail notification. I checked and nothing, i restarted my phone because i am installing apps. Each time i restart it says i have a voicemail when i have none. I did a task29, hard reset and flashed a totally new rom and i still have this crap. I put the sim in my friends pure and no vm. This is totally weird it makes no sense and so far att cannot help.
Double check your voicemail number. I had this problem for a while until I realized that I had a message on the VM carrier that was embedded in my SIM(att) and not the one I was actually using(google voice). So even though the phone was setup to call google one as default, it was still checking the att one for notifications.
I had this too and it didn't go away until I got a new SIM.
I made this .cab for a temp fix.
I encountered it after a hard reset with both email and sms
Though after using SMS Delivery Receipt Fix (select it manually from the left) these problems solved like thin air
Many of us are experiencing the voicemail notification that cannot be clean in the notification bar (phantom voicemail notification).
I have this problem with CM 7 but not CM 6.
In Sense Gingerbread roms:
Stock Rom (rooted deoxed)- phantom voicemail
Fresh Rom 4.1beta1 and 4.0.X. betas- phantom voicemail
MikFroyo - no phantom voicemail
Xrom - no phantom voicemail
Called sprint they reset-ed my voicemail but the issue persist. Before that I "clear voicemail notifications" in settings.
Today I was browsing through the sprint forum and found the following (I posted the link to the post).
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/69548?tstart=7
...and it reads...
"Voicemail Notification
UPDATED
Sprint has identified root cause on this issue and has begun rolling out a short term solution this morning that will bring rapid resolution to customers that are experiencing this issue. This fix is network based and does not require any interaction from the customer.
The first batch of network updates for devices that updated to Gingerbread between June 3rd and June 7th is running now and scheduled to complete in 48 hours. Once this process is complete we will load the next batch of devices that updated to Gingerbread starting with a date range beginning on June 8th.

I was about to post that this was something that was specific to those that got the OTA and us that have been using CM7 since RC1 have seen this. Then I thought that it may be something weird with the way the phone/network is handling 2.3, can any one on a Sense based 2.3 join in?
Mine was first batch and not fixed by the 8th. I called sprint pushed button for tech and an advanced tech rep answered.
I explianed the issue he reset my vm box on their end. Told to clear the notification and reboot. After reboot no issue.
Summary of original issue: vm indicator was indicating a vm. Clearing the indicator, cleared it until reboot or switching towers.

How can this be a network issue when I had this issue with 2.3, but after downgrading to 2.2, I no longer have it?
Seems if it was a network issue it would be there no matter what version?
I didn't take the OTA and I've had the issue. I was running Kushdeck's CM7 variant, and it started happening. I then switched to Synergy, still happening. I've switch back and forth and no matter what I switch to, it still shows. And it's driving me crazy *lol*
For those of you who don't want to wait for Sprint to fix this issue:
This WILL fix the bogus VM indicator issue.
1. Activate a NON-Visual Voicemail capable phone on your line. (basic Sprint phone).
2. Let the temporary phone provision then call your voicemail from the temp phone and go through the Voicemail setup process.
3. Once voicemail is setup, leave yourself a test voicemail from a different phone and wait for it to notify you on your phone.
4. Call your voicemail from the temp phone and delete ALL voicemails then end the Voicemail call.
5. Reactivate your HTC EVO and the problem is gone.
This problem is caused by our "old non-visual voicemail" indications being pushed to our phones for some odd reason.
If you don't have a plain non-visual voicemail Sprint phone, get one for a few bucks off craigslist or try your local corporate Sprint store. Most corporate stores have a few used phones from exchanges, etc that they may be willing to use to help you with this process.
I just hold down Power and press restart. It asks to clear data and stuff, amd a few moments later the VM notification is gone.
Shut down and reboot turns on even quicker if the setting is enabled.
XDA App - EVO - 2.3 unrooted. Help!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....by switching from one phone to another, will it affect anniversary dates for our upgrades?
Not at all. Billing system knows the last time you bought a phone using upgrade /new customer pricing on that line.

I don't think I've had any problems for the last few days, it's been nice
Thank you all for your responses. This problem is due to the crappy Sprint network and an update will be release soon (6-20-11), which will alleviate this issue--hopefully.

*This problem arises when you do a phone swap and the previous phone has new voice messages.*
If you still have your previous phone, go on Sprint.com and reactivate it. Then clear your voicemail on it, and then you can switch back to your Evo.
I've read on another forum and it worked for me, go to Settings> Call > Voicemail Settings > Delete your phone number. This doesn't affect your voicemail and remove the persistent clear voicemail notification icon. Good luck.

This works. I just tried it yesterday and the message is finally gone after years on my HTC Hero and my EVO 4G (running CM7). However, it's not just a "wham bam" solution. At least not for me. First, I could not use the Sprint web site to downlevel my smart phone - I think it was because of the plan (price) changes. So I did a chat on the Sprint site and a very nice tech helped me (Astrid??). We switched phones and she helped me get the old Moto Razr V3 activated (it took some codes on the phone after she changed activations). And then afterwards we switched back to the EVO. The process took about 30 minutes with all the changes and calls to Voicemail. I then restored my Nandroid CM7, which worked but couldn't connect to Sprint. I had this before, so I knew I had to load a Sense ROM and then go to Profile (under updates) and re-activate my Profile under Sense for Sprint to connect. Now I won't go into the war story of switching to the Sense ROM (I used an original Sprint ROM which blew my Recovery (AmonRA) out of the water). But to get Sprint connected, I had to reactivate the Profile on the EVO under Sense, and then get back to my CM7 Nandroid. When finally done...Viola...no more phantom voicemail. So it works...and thanks for the post.
Hi there,
I exchanged by HTC HD2 phone for a Motorola Atrix 4G a few months ago. And am not really sure any more if I took the right decision Am frustrated with the following problems:
- I tend to receive the same text messages sometimes more than once and interesting the time stamp for both the messages is the same. For example a message which says 'lets do coffee' is sent/received on the phone 1030am and the same message pops up again with the time stamp of 1030am at 0200pm!!
- Sometimes i get a text message which says "Incoming message is not delivered to your mobile as your INBOX is full. Please delete some messages to free some space". However, my phone has ample memory (approximately 8-10gb), and i just have 10-12sms the rest I normally delete after reading.
I visited the service provider and they claim there is no problem from their side. I have checked and rechecked the phone/settings but in vain. Can some kind soul out here please please help me. I am really frustrated and probably planning to sell off the phone as I have missed some important SMS's in the past (which got delivered to me after 3-4days with the original time stamps!)
Cheers!
If your using a different sms app then stock one then you'll need to disable one for notification . That should fix for more then one pop up.. As for running out space maybe someone else jump in to help on that...
Have you tried a factory reset? I assume you not running a customer ROM or anything. I have had that issue before on a different phones and it was all ready service provider issue they had something messed up in my account or a auth issue with thier network
Switch to google voice. That's my solution
But in normal terms, your sd space is not for sms or whatever app to take all tue space. That'd be like saying the browser cache could get that big just cause you have the space
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G using Tapatalk on AT&T, the company that disappoints me so much that I have to use my tapatalk signature to tell everyone
hello all,
Thanks for responding. The phone is fairly new and I have not changed any ROM's or anything like that. Its updated with the current official version...absolutely no hacking on it... I am using the standard SMS app that is inbuilt. Interestingly I did a factory reset today and so lets see how it works.
When I delete the message am hoping it gets deleted for ever..or does it get stored in some 'delete' box that I need to clear ?? Though I have a general feeling that the problem is probably from the service provider and not really the phone...
Any other ideas/tips would be appreciated.
Cheers!
i am pretty sure that just deleting it form the phone should take care of it. i am almost positive that there is no were else it is stored on the phone. not sure about if it is stored on hte network some were but i highly doubt it.
I think it has something to do with cell towers.
not sure what the explanation is.
Hello all,
The service provider sent me a text message last afternoon at 1600hrs and as per their records the message was delivered immediately to my number. However in actuality I received it this morning at 1035hrs!! Its so spooky and strange. I really don't know what to do. Motorola is not ready to help either.Their customer service says there is no problem from their side.
I am quiet sure its not a signal issues as I seem to be receiving calls and most sms. Its just a few messages that I don't receive ..and its random.. not from specific numbers...
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks
Hey guys, I'm having this very strange issue with my text messages on my T-Mobile V20 (H918). When I'm texting people, they always receive my texts, and the text sends fine on my end. No problemo.
Now, when someone is texting me and we've been in a conversation for awhile, and suddenly they won't reply. And it's usually followed by "you there?" Or they just assume I'm ignoring them and quit replying altogether. This isn't an isolated issue, either. Happens with nearly everyone I text (but the issue seems to exclude T-Mobile or T-Mobile MVNO numbers). It doesn't matter if the person has an Android device, iOS device, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, any of their MVNOs, nothing. Issue gets worse at indeterminate times of day. Really sucks when you're trying to text someone about signing a lease on an apartment... Using the stock messenger app that came with Nougat, but the phone hasn't had an OS update yet...but my remorse period runs out in 8 days, idk if I can wait for that.
Troubleshooting that's already been performed:
Clearing app cache
Performing a factory reset via settings
Performing a factory reset via LG recovery upon boot
Calling T-Mobile and having them re-provision my number a couple of times
This has happened before on my old G4, but seemed to be remedied with the V10 that I previously had.
NOTE: Upon checking T-Mobile's messaging history for my line and matching up the times in my inbox vs. their times for sending/receiving texts, the texts are indeed coming through on their end, but never reaching my device.
If anyone has any wisdom that they can share, it would be beyond appreciated. This is turning into a real headache. Thanks in advance.
Are you using Textra or another non stock messaging app?
A member and I @ghedoicy confirmed that with Tmobile, they use RCS (Rich Chat Service - only carrier to use it) and that is what is causing the issue
What is happening is if you're using a non stock messaging app to send texts which is fine. But when that person (who is a Tmobile customer) is using the stock messaging app to reply, it is going to YOUR stock messaging app. If you go and open your stock app, you will find all the "missing texts".
Ghedoicy got in contact with Textra and it's not a problem with the app but with how Tmobile handles texts/MMS (and only Android to Android too)
I experienced this as well texting with texting my brother who is on my account and has an S7. He uses the stock app and I use Textra. I text him but when he replies it goes to my stock app. When he downloaded and used Textra, I got the texts just fine in Textra. My wife and mom have iPhones and I get their texts just fine in Textra.
EDIT - read that you're saying it is excluding Tmobile customers and you're using stock app.
Try downloading something like Textra and see if that fixes it?

Textra did help (thanks, nest75068) but I'm still mad this phone doesn't work like it's supposed to. The stock messaging app includes Advanced Messaging on T-Mobile, which is a nice feature, but not one that I use much. Regardless, who knows what else is wrong with this phone with weird issues like this.
It's also troublesome that you guys are getting it. I ordered a new V20 via buyer's remorse (huge hassle) Anyway, fingers crossed super hard that the new one doesn't have the same issue!
Update: Surprise, surprise! Got a brand new V20 and the issue still persists! I'm at my wit's end, I have no idea what to do. Anyone have any other solutions? It seems to be happening intermittently on Nougat in general...I know the H918 hasn't gotten a system update yet, so I'm wondering if this 1) occurred previously on Verizon V20s, and if it did, then 2) did the system update fix it?
Trevnerdio, did you ever get a resolution to your text messaging issue with the stock messaging app.? Im currently experiencing the same issues with text messages getting lost when sent to me.

Hey Paulydm,
Sorry for the late reply. No dice, I've just given up and I'm using Textra as my main messaging app (which I quite like, actually) and my Advanced Messages (chats) from other T-Mobile devices comes in and goes out normally through the stock messaging app, it seems. Please let me know if you've found a solution! Still waiting on a system update...it's been a month a half.

I have the same issue receiving texts. Some I will receive and be in a conversation and all of a sudden stop getting replies then get one saying something that shows I have been missing a few texts. I had the LG G5 when this started in Nov 2016 and did everything the customer service rep at TMobile told me and nothing worked. I got the new LG V20 thinking it was my previous LG G5. Still happening. I have done everything including a factory reset and nothing works. TMobile said they would send me a new LG V20 even though I explained this one is brand new and the texting issue was happening on the G5 also. They sent a device and I went to pick it up only to find out it was a refurbished V20. I refused to take it because my current one is brand new. I am planning to call again and convince TMobile to let me trade in my brand new V20 for a new iPhone. I communicate 99% by text. Did anyone find a solution

I want to say THANK YOU!!! I downloaded Textra and it is working awesome!!!! Thank you thank you thank you
I have this issue on AT&T.
When talking to somebody, sometimes the texts end up going to the stock messenger instead of the messenger app im using. And sometimes people who try to send me texts, the text fails completely on their end and they cant send me any messages. Once i switched back to the stock messenger, all of those issues went away completely. Interesting stuff...

Hey, gonzo, sorry for the late reply. Textra works fine and is a bit friendlier to use and has a lot more features. While it's incredibly stupid and completely unacceptable that a system feature does not work properly, it's a minor thing to use something like Textra. I upgrade every 6ish months anyway, so I'm not letting it get to me. LG's been dropping the ball...they were doing better, but they seem to be slipping again. Hope you stuck with the V20! If not, sorry about your hassles!
Wow, totally didn't even read the latest responses haha glad your issue was fixed!
I also have experienced the same problem, been on the phone with T-Mobile and about 4 different TEC, nothing they tried fixed the problem, got really frustrated. I goggled and found this, I downloaded the Textra and I haven't had a problem since. You would think the TEC's would know to tell you to do this. I have been with T-Mobile for 20 years and been pleased, but this issue has put a sour taste in my mouth with T-Mobile now. My phone LG V-20 was brand new when it started, and they were wanting to replace with a re-furbished phone, I don't want someone else's problem... So glad I found this conversation. Thanks for posting.
Same issue. Stock LG G5. Android 7.0,
Tried everything. Even Textra. Nothing.
I get this problem using chompSMS, but my recipients are also receiving duplicates from me. Since switching to from cricket to tmo, I haven't had as many "lost" texts. Had the same issue on my G4. Wonder how many having the issue are rooted/custom ROM? Both my G4 and this V20 are rooted and stock based custom. Tried textra by developers suggestion, and still duplicated. Stock doesn't duplicate every text like chompSMS does, but maybe 20% do. This is bizarre. Wonder if it's an LG issue or root issue or ?
Im having this same issue with my lg-v 20. all my text seem to go through but i don't receive there text. I switched to a custom rom to see if that would fix the problem but so far no it sadly has not. It is a problem with the stock messenger app. I will give textra a try and see if that fixes my issue if not i might just change to a different phone in general. ill let you guys know what happens. Thanks
So I got a replacement v20 because my ffc stopped working, and once I switched to the replacement v20 I can no longer send texts to quite a few of my contacts. It says on my phone that it was unable to send the message. Is this more or less the same problem you all are facing?
The problem with not receiving text messages reliably on an LG phone running Android 7.0 Nougat is related to the text messaging app that LG created and loaded onto our phones as the default messaging app. I reported this issue to LG about a month ago after extensive testing and I've confirmed that many 3rd party messaging apps will work reliably. For instance and app like Textra will work reliably and offers much more functionality than the built in LG app.
I even went as far as to provided my testing details then send my phone in for warranty repair so that LG could have a closer look and work towards a resolution but all LG did was factory reset my phone and said that the phone worked fine. When I got it back I tested again and the issue remained. I firmly believe LG has no idea how to resolve this software issue and is ignoring it at this point and basically screwing their customers over. Luckily the solution is to ditch the LG messaging app and use any 3rd party messaging app instead.....but I would encourage anyone having this issue to hold LG to task and report it to them as this issue is a direct result of a poorly written application they created.
This is my first LG and it will be my last....never again!
I am getting something like this. People always get my texts but only today have i noticed that my phone is spamming me with old text messages. My buddy says "yeah i sent that text only one time and that was 2 days ago." His text said "hey man" and i have gotten the same text 30 times today. Now it just started the same behavior from another person. I had never gotten these people's message originally. But now it wont stop.
Dirty Santa H91010l Stock Rom.
Im out grocery shopping right now so i havent read all of this thread yet. Imshould i assume this is a bug from the dirty santa? Thanks
Has anyone else had this problem? I've got a stock Pixel 4 from T-Mobile that just doesn't get texts reliably. Doesn't seem to matter whether the sender is on an iPhone/Android. Sometimes they'll come in days late from when they were originally sent - sometimes not at all. I've tried all sorts of different texting apps besides the stock one. I've exchanged the phone at T-Mobile for a new one with a fresh SIM card - same issue. If I factory reset the phone, I'll get a flood of all the missed texts and it may work fine for like a week until the problem creeps up again. I've tried with chat features on and off. Nothing seems to fix this and I've had friends tell me they had similar issues and only solved it by switching to a different phone, but I don't have that luxury since I don't have Jump On-Demand. Stuck with this BS and super disappointed considering it's Google's own phone.
Prior to owning the Pixel, my wife and I had the exact same issues with our OnePlus 7's. Text messages were even going to the wrong contacts. We tried everything to remedy the problem via OnePlus. We even contacted T-mobile and they tried resetting our networks as well. Nothing worked. I finally got a hold of a representative at T-Mobile that said they were upgrading the network in our area and multiple customers were experiencing the same issue. So, we immediately switched to another messaging app and let our contacts know the issue and the new preferable way of contact. Now we own the Pixel, our SMS texts are fine and haven't experienced any issues, but it's more likely related to the network than the phone. But I'm still paranoid after that experience, so we hardly ever text anymore and rely on another messaging app with family and friends.
