i got my X on friday and i have noticed a strange discharge issue. it will stay on 100% for a few hours, then suddenly drop to 90%, not 95% or 93%, 90. does your X's display in 10% increments.
and i had read that the froyo update helped battery life. granted i have only had the phone 3 days, i am not noticing great battery life. i have everything shut off that i should, and i have done a factory reset right after the froyo update.
any ideas? thanks gang..I LOVE my X..

Don't worry, there isn't anything wrong with your X. That's just the way it displays battery info. (The only % that doesn't end in a "0" is 15% when it yells at you to plug it in!)
Enjoy your X!
And also 5% if you really let it go. And the X doesn't have amazing battery life, even if it is the best of the recent android phone releases. Just make sure that you don't have background apps running that auto update your location (like weather widgets and stuff that "follow" you). I use a widget called Battery Left that estimates your battery life based on your usage. Make sure that you go to the battery profile and uncheck the box that says "Stop calibrating after accurate" so that it will be the closes estimate.

My batter seems to go from 100% to 85% every day in a very quick manner. However, after that, it slows down. Maybe it is just the behavior of this battery (or the software that measures it).
Regardless, even with that, I get 12-14 hours (with moderate usage) before I get the 15% warning.

I noticed that as well, ill keep a close eye on it again today, i do have very heavy use
spare parts is helpful as well
If you're running a 2.1 ROM:
Don't forget to change the Network Mode to "CDMA Auto (PRL)". Do this by dialing "*#*#4636#*#*", and then pressing Phone Information. Even if it is already set to CDMA Auto (PRL), press it anyway.
Try using a 2.1 with a tweaked memkiller. It'll help to kill off apps that are still running and using battery. I usually get about 2 days of battery out of my phone while using TrevE's MOD.
I think the battery discharge curve that dictates battery level is off in the 85-100% range on these phones.

if you charge over night first thing in the morning do something to get it down to 99% then plug in charger again, i find my phone will charge for a good 15-20 minutes and the battery drops much slower

i had the same issue. download spare parts (as was mentioned earlier) and check 'partial wake usage'. sprint's voicemail was keeping my phone awake for some reason. i ditched it and have great battery life now. google voice all the way...
What is this TrevE Mod?
I'll be down to about 10% battery - I get the message saying 'please charge your phone', blah blah blah. I reboot, my phone comes up and the battery indicator says it's at around 50% somehow... I did not connect the charger at all. Anyone experience this? I've tested it on 2 separate batteries... This only seems to happen on Froyo. The battery life doesn't last long either, even when it 'regenerates' and always drops pretty quickly.
comment and advice are welcome!
So when you reboot it and it comes up at 50%, does it last longer? Mine hits 10 or 5% answer It's dead when it dies.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
it starts draining immediately, but it lasts longer than it would if it was really at 10%... if that makes sense.
You either have a faulty battery or you simply need to recalibrate it (More likely.) If you don't have root just follow the Final steps 1 and 2.

AFAIK, phones turn them selves off before the battery has no more juice in it to stop the battery from being ruined. If the battery is calibrated badly it will shut off when it thinks the percent is 10% but in reality it could have 50% like OP says.
I have been using a battery % widget and when my phone gets down to about 15% according to the widget, I start getting pop-up saying less than 10% or 5% remaining. When the widget says it is down to 10%, the pop up will say that I have less than 1% remaining, but it will still run for quite a while (at least an hour last night). I just got the "less than 1%" pop-up several times, despite there still being plenty of battery, apparently. It seems to me the widget was correct and the phone wasn't. Definitley some battery recognition issues in froyo. That may be why so many are complaining of bad battery life. I have been experiencing excellent battery life myself.
I have had the ultimate in crappy battery life since day one with my Vibrant. I have tried reconditioning, task killers, freezing apps, etc., etc. Very minimal gains and, in some cases, worse battery life. These things were draining just sitting on our pockets.
Here's where it gets weird. My wife also has a Samsung Vibrant and was getting the same horrible battery life. We were both charging dead Vibrants half way through the day. Granted, we are both moderate to heavy users but I expected more. A week ago, my wife was still sitting at 80% by lunch time while I was looking at 27%. Huh? I asked her what she did and she had no idea except that she had downloaded a battery monitoring app the day before. I thought it made no sense that this could have anything to do with it so I brushed it off. Over the next few days she was still getting killer battery life throughout the day.
So....I decided to give it a shot just to be sure it wasn't that app. Well, just before bedtime, my battery was it 7%. I downloaded the battery app, plugged in my Vibrant and hit the hay. By noon the next day I was still over 80% I have no idea why but I know it's working for both of us and it has to have something to do with this app.
I'm no programmer and I certainly have no vested interested in any android apps. We just stumbled on this and it works. Would anyone out there have a clue why?
I'm not sure if posting the name of the app breaks any xda rules so I'll wait.
Ever since i've been on JK2 Froyo my battery life has been excellent. But i'm interested in hearing which app you're talking about

I agree. I just didn't want to be seen as peddling a product here.
It's called BatteryTime. It's free although, I believe there is a pay version. I didn't adjust any settings. Just installed it, charged over night and I can't believe the difference nor understand why it made such a huge difference. I unplugged 4 hours ago and have 98%. Still a mystery to me but I'm not complaining.
There's like 4 of the same app on the market x)
What is the full name?
OH and thanks, I installed it, I'll report back with results.

Just Looked again and you're right. There are 4 versions there. I'm currently using the "BatteryTime Lite" version.
The only thing that I can think of to rationalize this huge difference is that the battery percentage was being reported incorrectly before. I may have had a charge that would last all day or longer but it was displaying an accelerated discharge rate which would kill my Vibrant prematurely. For one reason or another, this app appears to have corrected that and the indicator is (I hope) reporting the correct battery life now.
Does that make any sense?

Thanks for sharing. I will give it a try.
Update:
I found this somewhat disappointing. I rebooted my phone for the first time in about a week and on boot up the indicator is displaying significant drain again. I was at 96% before boot and 56% after? I'm going to recharge to full again and see if I still enjoy the same battery life.
Now I'm really confused. Sent an email to developer.
judging by the app description and most of the comments - the app doesn't actually *do* anything. It merely reports the battery differently.
No amount of software will change how much charge a battery can hold. The only thing that's different is how it's being reported.

Indeed, and that was my point to begin with. Originally, the battery indicator reported as critically low in no more than 6 hours. Soon after, the phone would shutdown until put on the charger. With this app I am able to get through the day reporting roughly 30% at bedtime around 10pm. Of course, that is subject to change on a reboot....until fully charged again. This is the mystery.
Yeah, there is funky stuff going on with battery meters. One that is included with the Obsidian Roms is Battery Left, currently, this is showing a 50% charge and 10:19 left. Next to it is Juice Plotter which is showing 21h 11m left. According to the system, i am at 71% Power and it has been unplugged for 6 hours. From experience, I know that the 21h remaining is actually accurate and Battery Left is completely dorked.
The point being, you can't always trust the battery meter.
So I installed a monitor also to try and figure out what was killing my battery 30+% over night and I had the same reaction....I woke up to a 10% loss. I realized what is probably happening is since this app is monitoring the phone all night...whatever app is draining the battery is probably a daemon that only runs when the CPU goes really idle for a certain period of time. More than likely that app inadvertently gave you better battery life because it runs in the foreground and marks your phone as being active so whatever app was killing battery never ran.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Since day one, I have had buggy battery reporting. For instance, if I reboot the phone while it is plugged in, the reported battery level changes dramatically.
Edit: your later post supports this idea even further.
I installed this on my phone. This program does not attempt to save battery life or control anything on your phone. It does offers "Tips" to save battery life. Its main purpose is to indicate, based on your current level of charge, how long your battery should last given different circumstances - ex. idle, talk time, video time, audio time, etc... Thus the name BatteryTime.
That's all that it does. Any perception of a longer lasting battery may have been an anomaly as does happen sometimes with our phones. One day you'll seem to be getting awesome battery life (and there is likely an underlying reason which we'll never figure out, but which jives with the battery) and the next day it is back to draining quickly as normal.
There are three certainties in life: death, taxes, and posts about battery life in smart phone forums.
Anyone have the issue where they charge the phone overnight, the phone reads 100% in the morning, you unplug it and you are immediately down to 7% battery? It seems to happen to me at least twice per week. It is a terrible bug.
i dont get it you said that before the battery wasnt being read correctly so it shut off fast but now with the app it reads correctly and last you the whole day with 30% left to spare?? wouldnt that technically mean it increased battery because you got it to last all day plus some? just by making the phone read the battery correctly.
Hello guys, my issue is after i update my phone to 2.3.3 the battery life is going weak and weak, it's get empty after few hours event if i disable WiFi connection and user lower brightness.
Now it's won't be full power even if i let's the phone plugged all the night i found just between 80% and 70%
Is my battery getting weak or it's because of the update?

I had the same problems with the stock rom. I switched to Wolfbreak's rom and the battery life is excellent
I had the same problem, I did 2 things that helped me.
First- I used Set CPU to use the "on demand" Governor in the scaling window of the main page. The smartass gov. in the 2.3 update wasn't good for the way I use my phone. Check set on boot. If you don't every boot will set back to smartass.
Second I got the free battery calibrator from the market and followed the instructions.
Make sure you wait for battery to reach 100% even when charge led turns green, WAIT for 100%
I hope this helps you, it helped me alot.
First, i've never been impressed with the battery life on this phone. When I first got it, it had 1.6 loaded. I rode that out for about a year or so and then thanks to this forum I grew a pair and flashed over to 2.1. Still not impressed. So when I first heard GB was coming to the X10 I got antsy....I lost my patience after a week went by once SE starting the 2.3 rollout and nothing was made available for me and decided to flash to WB v3 version of GB. Still wasn't impressed.
But yesterday I decided to give that Battery recalibration app a try and here's my initial feedback.
I started the recalibration process yesterday at work, charged it up to 100%, ran the app (which basically wipes the battery stats), unplugged my phone and ran the battery all the way down until it died on it's own, which finally happened last night about 7 or 8pm. I immediately put it on the charger and let it charge up. I fell asleep with it on the charger and when I woke up at 1:30am I looked at it and it was at 100% so I disconnected the charger and locked the screen, fell back asleep. I woke up this morning at about 7am and still had 100% charge. It's at 87% right now and I've had wifi on since I got up, made a couple short calls, posted a couple times online from it, did some file system editing...not heavy use at all but considering I never had anything less than 3% drop just sitting overnight, i'm pretty impressed that i'm at 87% right now.
Is anyone experiencing weird issues with battery before recharging? i had 2 days phone on batt and 3hrs screen on. It was at 53 % before i decided to charge. I fully charged it and now im losing 10% every hour even with phone on idle. Its weird cause every other charge will last a long time.

Yeah, I'm still stock on this phone and I'm getting inconsistent battery life. I usually charge every night, so I'm running about 16-17 hours per day. Almost identical usage each day but one day I'll plug in with 45-50% remaining and the next it will be dead when i plug in. Very odd. I'm going to root this thing just so I can get rid of the bloat apps. Well, that may not be the only reason I root. I may be compelled to put some AOSP on this and see how it rocks it.
well i don`t really recommend to ROOT stock rom, it caused for me a battery drain ! also KitKat known for drain issue even on Pure android on Nexus 5. I don`t really know a fix but i`d give u some tip and it might help
1. Re-flash D80020c
2. After re-flash do a factory reset
3. Don`t root or mod your OS
4. Turn off Sync or Location Service (or set to battery saver mode)
i did those steps and i have 34 hour on battery:
3 Hour screen on time (and about 30-40 min gaming in this 3 hour)
Left about 49%
i hope i helped a little
Potential solutions:
Have a look in Settings > General > Battery and see what seems to be using the most power. You could have a problem app that’s using GPS or trying to update frequently. If you can identify the culprit then you can remove it.
There’s a slim chance you have a faulty handset. If adjusting your usage and tweaking settings doesn’t’ result in any improvement then take your LG G2 back to the retailer or carrier and get a replacement.

I always have location turned off with all bloatware rwmoved. I honestly think you have to drain it to about 20% then charge. Cause i never have problems when i do that. Gonna try and drain it out again and recharge and see what happens then.

Its kitkat,it says rooted d80020c in my signature. Well here is my latest results. Left it on overnight and was at 53% with data off. Checked it this morning and everything was back to normal again no battery drain or low estimated battery times.weird cause i charged it around this percentage. I think you have to take it down to at least 20 before charging will find out later today when i charge.

well i really not heard about Deep sleep drain but while idle it`s drains bit faster then JB, with jb i could get max 40 hour and about 6hr screen on time and + 10-15% battery while on KK i can get 42 hour but about 5 hr and 45 min screen on time with 0% battery it`s seems a bit problem for 4.4.2 i think Google will fix it and hopefull we`ll get new update from AT&T if this prob will fixed
P.S i saw that if battery at 100%, overnight it won`t fall to 99 but while battery is on below 100% it drains about 1-2 % overnight is that a known prob?

2% overnight is pretty good, given that it's on WIFI I'm assuming?
I lost 25% overnight last night when I was off WIFI, so I factory resetted mine.
Took it down to 20% and discharged and its fine. Im guessing its a bug, but, easy fix just take the battery down to 20% or lower before charging
