[Q] Qtek 2020 (HTC Himalaya) Backup battery problem - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

has anyone esle experienced this, i have recently upgraded form sun dream's 21169 rom to aeroflylubry's 6.5.23420. Ever since upgrading, my fone keeps losign the time wne i remove the battery or reset with the reset button, always resets to 1 jan 2009 and 1200 for time, i never had this problem with the old roms, and the battery meter says my backup battery is 100% still good, have replaced with a new one and still i get the same thing. is it a rom problem or my himalaya is now for the rubbish dump?

i am using aeroflyboys ROM and have not had any problems at all. hope this helps
regards Jon

thanks

sorry my bad spelling didn't mean to offend anyone.

Definately something with the newer roms
I have rolled back to Sun dream's 21169 - (still the best ever rom for the hima IMHO) and i didn't have this issue, also tried the stock Hima rom (must be wm2003) i had time persistence in that rom, even C_Shekar's 6.1 (nostalgia) had time persistence. More recently have used Sun dream's 28205 from the kitchen - no time persistence there either, this one resets to 10am on i Jan 2010.

White Screen Problem

i got my mda compact last week and updated the rom to an imate jam rom the first day i got it.
now since then i have had to do several hard resets because after so long whenever i press the power button to turn the screen on, the screen is completely white and i cant see anything else except this.
Is this a known problem or does anyone know what to do to sort this problem as its getting a tad annoying having to hard reset almost every day!
Any help will be greatly appreciated

May i ask why you upgraded it the day you got it? I also have the MDA Compact and i still run version 1.01 P) because i don't have any problems with it.
Did you just blindly update or did you have problems before updating?
the reason i upgraded the rom was that i wanted rid of all the t mobile stuff as i use o2 mate.
the only other stuff i installed on it a game called s tris, pocket painter and tcpmp player, not sure if either of those could have anything to do with this.
Any ideas mate?

Did you unlock the sim?
And are you aware that you can actually remove all Tmobile junk pretty easily without having to upgrade?
it was already unlocked by the person i got it from.
yeah i was but i just thought it would be quicker and better if i just changed the rom.
i just downloaded the newest mda compact rom. do you recommend i go back to that one and get rid of the t mobile stuff manually?
oh and have you ever heard of this white screen problem that im having?

I think it is a better idea to go back to the original 1.1 ROM. I removed all T-mobile crap with the push of a button.
You have to hardreset the device, when you get to the today screen immediatly softreset the device and voila. No more T-Mobile crap.
When you get to the today screen for the first time after a hardreset the device is programmed to install all Extended ROM files (which include the TMobile crap).
Simple as that .
cheers mate.
what should i install from the extended rom folder without the risk of installing any t mobile nonsense?!
i thinkive just about figured out what to install but i cant seem to get the smart dialler function without installing the t mobile skin over the phone function :?
If you go to the XDA devs ftp in the magician extended rom folder, grab the smart dialler from the Jam extended rom. I don't necessarily agree with reverting back the rom but if it fixes it, great.
If you want a completely unbranded rom, go for the I-mate WWE versions of the rom. I haven't had a single problem with any up til 1.11 (I haven't tried 1.12 as I have no need to go any higher)
im looking in the shipped roms folder now, is there any WWE 1.11 one that you would recommend? its just there is so many and ive had this white screen problem with every rom ive tried i want to make sure i choose the correct one!
Well if it happens with every rom you've tried then I'd say the problem must be hardware related. If a rom upgrade, downgrade, or anything doesn't fix the issue then it has to be the one thing that hasn't changed, your hardware. My recommendation is put the original rom back on and get it looked at under warranty, unless someone else can offer another explanation.
The latest rom I've installed and still on my phone is the Anansky BigStorage rom. I haven't needed to change that for months, although I've played with all the I-mate roms up to 1.11. The only change I've made since then is the 1.13 radio upgrade.
ok ive went back to the mda compact rom (one i downloaded from a link on this site, not the ftp)
got rid of the t mobile stuff as explained earlier and changed the splash screens too with a cab file.
fingers crossed so far so good!
im terrified to turn the display back on after it goes off now though! and a bit apprehensive of installing anything after the last few days ive had!

new charmer - wm5.1 - max brightness at 50%?

Hi all!
Finally I have my own wm-smartphone rather than supporting others or having borrowed devices
It's a Charmer from T-Mobile sold as 'MDA compact II' (it was cheap enough and T-Mobile is not planing to sell the Prophet...)
Enough blabla - here's my first problem:
In brightness setting default is middle position of slider - going down one or two clicks changes to darker and off - going up one or two does not do anything!
And I really would like to have the screen brighter....
I have already compared to an other charmer where it works - but this guy has an older ROM (the one update T-Mobile has is already installed on mine).
I've got 2.6.2.28 GER - Win says OS 5.1.195 (Build 14847.2.0.0)
Just called hotline and they said 'could be software - please perfom a hw-reset - if problem persists send it back' :?
So has anyone had a similar problem? If it's something I can fix and won't hurt me in the future I would prefer not to go without my new toy for at least a week...
Many thx in advance!
Alan
I can see difference on my phone for the mid++ settings (new ROM). You may want to send it back.
Thx - that answers my question 100% :x
From what i have experienced, i think its a firmware problem. you might want to update its ROM to latest update offered by T-Mobile. If you're using one right now, and still dark, i think you could try to update to other ROM such as O2, or DOPOD. maybe that could help.
ok - although current fw was already installed I thought it would be wortz a try and 'reflashed'
-> same behaviour
thought to hard-reset and prevent T-Mobile Soft from installing
-> same behaviour
...sending the device back to provider...
THX
new device - brightness works - much better

Qtek 9000 – one but very frustrating problem

Hi people!
Problem with the 9000th is the following:
After installing yesterday the SPB Pocket Plus 3.1.2 app my device began to hopelessly hang every time on “switch on”: white screen, collage. I’m dead tired to soft reset it each time.
And this morning something terrible happened. I found the device not breathing (both BT and cell network side diodes weren’t alight), “switch on” button didn’t react. Just after plugging to the charger the device started to load in boot safety mode. After that same hanging continued.
Yesterday night the battery was charged to 80% and this morning I found it at 2%.
I made a back-up and now ready for the operation.
Is there a clear solution for my case? Do I need to take the device to morgue (SC) or could I try to operate it in home conditions through hard-reset and installing later ROM version?
Please advise!
Thanks in advance.
Qtek 9000
Rom version: 1.13.64 WWE
Rom date: 09/30/05
Radio version: 1.03.00
Protocol version: 42.36.P8
ExtRom version: 1.13.151 WWE
It sounds like your device hung and rather than just switch off, it kept running, draining the battery.
You should definitely upgrade the ROM - it's easy to do and you can get the files from the ftp site here or from myqtek.com but I wouldn't have thought your device is broken.
Upgrading the ROM is really easy but will wipe your device so I hope you had your info sync'd!
Either way, everyone on here can usually sort any woes you may have
Oh, and welcome, btw
Lordsmiff.
Thanks for a valuable advice.
Ok, I will consider an upgrade, though people at our domestic qtek-mobile forum do not advise to upgrade the ROM saying that in many cases of upgrading to 1.30.70 from AKU2 the device died completely.
Syncing is another issue but not for this time
And thanks for a warm welcome
Nik
OK Nik got your problem last week even after the rom update. Basically I was never able to run properly Spb Pckt + on my qtek 9000.
I thus decided to use Ilauncher for a while and now definitely turned to Resco Today Plugin whic is the most proficient task manager, even though it is poor in options and aesthetics. I made that choice combining it with magic button to close apps and I'm pretty set.
Moreover, Resco saves 45% more memory than any other launcher......
Now you now...
Cheers

Power Drain

I have a O2 orbit UK flashed the dopod rom to it (os only) the extRom got messed in the process. The suprising part is if i keep my extRom unhidden than my Cpu speed is normal(about 1-10%) but when hidden it jumps to 40%.Also there seems to be massive power drain in the battery.Tried repairing using Pigeons method but no luck.ExtRom does not instal.Any suggestions anyone.
is your phone brand new ?
No it is not actually, thought it was a battery problem but it was alright before the extrom got messed up,what is your idea?Any feedback would be appreciated.

well i had 2 p3300 ( i got rushed and i sold my 1st one ) so now when i got the 2nd, i instantly unlocked it, and wore the powermap rom, and i thought it was draining power faster than my old one ( with the original rom on it ) but after like 10-15 charges, the battery started to perform really well.
Thanks sedde, guess i'll do the same and see what happens.

I have had battery drain problems also. It happened after flashing a HTC to one of the coocked roms. I tried every thing. Nothing worked, even multiple recharges (which worked previously on my Prophet). I decided to hard reset. That resolved the problem. When I restored using Sprite back-up, the problem was back also. I hard resetted again and then all was OK again. I am currently reinstalling applications to find out which one causes this drain to happen. Have not found it yet.......

Latest Official HTC ROM trashed my device!!!

Hello
Just installed the latest official HTC ROM - RUU_BlackStone_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.1_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship - from the HTC website on my device. Upgrade went smooth as so many upgrades (with other phones) before. When it boots 'smart mobility' is shown in it's normal colour for around two seconds during which the font gets some sort of dropshadow effect (much like looking through unclean glasses) and then turns cyan. WM start screen is displayed as I describe as watercolour. Switching off screen and back on gets the normal graphic to live but still with a reoccuring 'smear effect' much like at the start. Device is very sluggish and freezes. Wifi and BT are on by default, no Phone and data reception. When connected to PC it shows ActiveSunc connected icon but 'PC says no' - Little Britain Syndrme. What do you think I should do? I can't revert back to the original ROM as I can't find it anywhere.. can't reinstall the current one as of version message.. in fact can't install any other ROM as I can't get ActiveSync going. Argh! Help! As highly as I think of HTC, this is really screwed up!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts

I'm not an expert , but def sounds like a wrong hardspl to me. I've had this happen to me twice because of my inexperience the first time and my carelessness the second. Can you redo the hspl somehow and try another maybe xda cooked rom? Or have you already tried to go back to the rom you flashed from? Thats what saved me before. Go to duttys site. He has a bunch of htc roms for D/L. Maybe you can find your old one there.

Thanks for for your thought cbreze. I'm annoyed as everything went by the book and the upgrade went fine until reboot. All I can do is to hard reset the phone at the moment. Can't get an ActiveSync connection going. Any way I can still flash to another ROM without it? Been to dutty's before and there's the same official version that causes me the problem and the Orange UK ROM.. not quite what I had in mind on o2. Can't find the 1.14 ROM which shiped with the device. Any idea where I can get hold of it? Also, I think I have seen a utility somewhere that helps to recover from a bad flash and in the absence of ActiveSync connection. Or was this just a pleasant dream?
Just have seen cRaCKwHoRe post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505377 which exactly describes my issue. Will follow that trough but please let me know if you have any additional thoughts. I'm really p***** off with HTC. They could post cRaCKwHoRe's info this on their site. First time I ever got an official ROM and the last as I'm a burnt child. Usually get them from here and it's always first class stuff. Thank you people.
cRaCKwHoRe's instructions did the trick. Panic over. Thank you to everyone whom had a look at the issue and great thanks and deep bow to life saving cRaCKwHoRe. Donation is on the way as soon as I get paid.
