i cannot believe you want to disable it because i have been waiting for years to finally get a phone that supports threaded sms. its so much better. but then again.... i hated threaded message view in google gmail when it first came out. they finally added a setting to disable that and i disabled it for a week and realized threaded view is way way better. so my idea is, try it and try to get used to it, then try a phone without it, and you will notice how much time it saves you!
This is how to turn it off
Using your favourite registry editor program, change the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM ---> SMSInboxThreadingDisabled
Change that DWord from 0 to 1
Thats it! One little bit in the registry controls that.

Ok I have a question. Since PocketCM has its own threaded sms and looks good with the bubbles etc, shouldnt it be possible for someone to make a threaded sms app with that same kinda look and interface? I mean, pocketCM is nice but it wont pop up automatically for me when I get a new text and u cant do it like the normal messaging app having an inbox whereas using pocketCM u have look up the contact, go to it then click on sms and history and that seems like a lil much just to get to messaging and its only for that person. I'd rather not have scroll thru all my contacts just to get to one. The guys at PocketCM should look into making their iown messaging app
if they could set it up like the shogun threaded messaging app w/ fixed input so you could see what your typing when using SIP keyboard it would be awesome, it doesnt seem like it would be too hard, but maybe it is
Shouldn't be too hard. PocketCM automatically shifts upward when typing a new message. I really like the interface of the sms part of PocketCM. Does anybody know a mortscript script to bring pocketCM up on the "Contacts with SMS" screen? Or maybe a .lnk shortcut for that??
Good question....I am waiting such application asa well, since Palm messaging didnt work well on my PPC.
my sentiments exactly... another one who's waiting for a good sms theader..
I'm waiting for this one.... hopefully it's going to be ok have waited a long time, though. Maybe it's difficult to make such an application.....

what about just combine the in and sent box?
I was waiting for such an app too, palm app didn't just do it for me. My brother bought an iPhone, i played around with it and i really liked the SMS App, so i decided to develop my own Threaded SMS. Currently i am working on it, but it's going a bit slow cause i dont have enough time to work on. I'll post it here asa i get an alpha ready.
Meanwhile if you have any suggestions or features that this app can have, plz dont hesitate to drop me a PM
cheers

i would love to see the inbox and sent box threaded on one screen, so there is no need to go seperate contacts in order to see who i've texted....

Uhm, that's not how PCM works. If it doesn't pop up automatically and you have it set to in the options menu, you should check with tene over at pocketcm.com. As for scrolling down to find who sent you an sms, if you just go to the sms screen, it will be the first contact at the top of the list. They're sorted chronologically. That's how most other threader programs do it too. If you've been scrolling down through all of your contacts on the main screen, you've been wasting your time.
just wait for wm6.1, its got a great threaded sms
the Cody threaded sms is pretty good, but kinda slow and laggy and the most annoying thing is that sometimes it just opens up by it self. Is there anyway to fix that?
does anyone know of any other good threaded sms programs? I tried cody's threaded sms, it opened on its own, sent multiple copies of messages, and sometimes didnt even send messages. I installed textr but it just froze my mogul. I dont like pocketcm or the sms app from pocket-sms.com because they arent fully integrated. does anyone know of any other sms programs that work correctly and fully replace the default sms app (like cody's threaded sms does)?
yea i have the same problem as you Sturatt. I have been searching for a good SMS app. cannot find anything. I really like the Cody's Threaded sms features and layout but it has too many problems and does not work well on my Mogul. I want a good SMS app that is similar to cody's threaded sms. Also I don't want to wait for WinMo 6.1 if it is ever released.
Please see itje's thread about the WM6.1 ROM he's scheduled to release this weekend. I think that's what he meant when he said just wait for WM6.1...
Windows Mobile v6.1 ROM due to be released by itje - Touch IT
oh thats good news. Thanks for letting me know, I cant wait now.
Extreme Text by Birdsoft
Has anyone tried Extreme Text by Birdsoft. Its not freeware, $14.95. But it looks simple and stable and you can use poutlook and it reads the same database.
Any thoughts?

exactly. More than anything, i want it to completely take the place of the default sms app (like palm's app). Threaded would be nice, but even if its not, ill settle for a program that just replaces the default app.

So then what's your problem with PCM again?
Is there anyway to theme the default sms program in winmo 6.1? I would like to get it so I can have bubbles like the iphone (different images though)
Also, is there a way to get all your messages displayed on the same long page, instead of constantly paging back every 5 messages?
Note: I don't want any recommendations for alternate sms apps, I have seen most of them and don't care for them
The answer to both your questions is a flat no unfortunately.
I wish it was otherwise. But afraid not.
Answer to first question is no until somebody proves me wrong.
Answer on 2nd question however is yes. You can change the registry and make all your messages appear on 1 page again like before.
http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/...ng-or-conversation-mode-in-windows-mobile-61/
this page offers even a cab file to do the job
What Fruzion means is that he wants the threaded sms displaying more then the last five messages.
Now it's:
Date/Time
Message 1
_________
Date/Time
Message 2
_________
Date/Time
Message 3
_________
Date/Time
Message 4
_________
Date/Time
Message 5
_________
Older messages.
And he wants it to continue with Message 6+
However this is not possible I think and the way WM handles the opening of threaded smses is also bad. I load a list every time you open the massages wich takes a long time to load. So if a conversation contains over 50 messages the loading would be unacceptable. Maybe WM6.5 or 7 will update the sms threading.

You can change a couple of things in the SMS layout by editing the file read_style.css
I enlarged my texts a tad bit i never thought of changing a background, but it could be possible i thinkk!! i'm not sure...

I while ago I found a app that would just do that. However, I had to do a hard reset and lost it. I later could not find it again. I know that it's possible and I do believe I found it at www.pocketpcfreeware.com.
whats so bad about smiley sms? I use it to gain the effect you are wanting. Why are you against using it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=328363
Smiley needs updated... it's outdated..

Dears,
How can i know my sent SMS status on my HTC Diamond 2 mobile??
(Sent - Received,...)
is there anyway to know that?
When writing the SMS, go to options- there is the option for a delivery report.
Sorry to hijack this post.
But I have just updated my phone with the official windows mobile 6.5 from the HTC website. For some reason I now can not set the LED to stay on until I have read the message like I used to be able to. The tick box is greyed out. Does anyone know a way around this?
SQueal. there is a regedit to fix this. get a regeditor,if you dont already have one and navigate to HKCU\Controlpanel\Notifications and find entry A877D65B…
change AvailableOptions value to 15.
hello. I have tcm and as I understand, i can edit the registry. Where do i find it? Thanks for your time

Thanks codhunter, is there a registry editor on the phone, or can I access it through a PC one when its hooked up via active sync?
While I am in there, is it also possible to change the text message alert to something I want, I notice that they have removed this on the updates as well which is quite irritating.
On my Phone -Voice Mail setting in Sounds and Notifications the Repeat checkbox is grayed out. Anyone know why?
Thanks
are you using visual voicemail?
It comes that way by default,
If you want to activate it look around for a CAB called:/Regedit Enable Repeating Notifications/.
install, reset than go to Notifications Settings and mark the Checkboxes from the start.
Just one piece of warning, even in case you answered your missed call,SMS or Email for exapmle it will still keep on repeating for another few minutes, however to undo it simply Uncheck the Repeat box.
I'm not using Sense so I doubt I'm using Visual Email, at least that I know of.
I surely don't want to trade this problem for a larger one, such as by having to put up with unwanted repeated warnings after I've dismissed the notification.
I found Control Panel/Notifications/Repeat in the Registry and changed it to a 1, then did a soft reset but it didn't make any difference.
Given that Events seem to have individual different default values I'm thinking that the problem is likely in how the event itself is defined in the Registry as opposed to a global setting there.
This CAB i maked yesterday will help.

Can you tell me what Registry entries your cab modifies? Is your cab uninstallable? With notifications being the primary purpose of my PDA functionality I'd like to make sure I know what it is that I'm modifying. At any rate, thank you!!!
This CAB is uninstalable and modify one value in registry:
"Options"=dword:40000000B
if i good remember. C'mon mate i don't wanna hurt your device wanna help.
