Internet Sharing - Touch2 General

Hi I tried to install the HTC CM Wifi Internet Sharing CAB for QVGA devices but I can't seemed to get it to work.
My Win 7 comp is able to connect to my Touch2 but cannot access the internet. I tried to manually assign an IP address in the comp but it did not help.
Has anyone managed to get the wifi internet sharing to work? Thanks

Cannot get IP address using Internet Sharing

hey, ive been scooping on here for a while and this is my first post.
ive searched for over an hour and i havent found the answer.
i downloaded internet sharing cab and installed it, it runs fine on my wm6, but when i connect it to my laptop using usb, the laptop cant get the IP address.
it eventually says limited connection on my laptop. any ideas?
TIA
Cliff
I can tell you from experience (i connect this way) that you don't need to install anything on your laptop exept for active sync (i think the latest one is 4.5) after you do that you enable internet sharing in your wing ( start/programs/accessories/internet sharing) after you enable it you connect your wing to your laptop, at that point your laptop should regognize your phone as a network connection. you can now browse the net.
if you're on the 5.99 proxy there is one more step. you have to configure Internet explorer to use the proxy. I don't remember everything off the top of my head but I think it goes like this settings/ connections tab/lan settins/proxy server
from there you just enter the same proxy and port that you did on your wing. you should now be able to surf.
the thing is, my phone is unlocked and im on the cingular network. i have all the settings for it. internet explorer works on my phone.(i get internet on my phone)
when i connect it to my laptop, it detects it like its supposed to, BUT it doesnt get the IP address. if you have anymore info, let me know
thanks

Niki internet USB connections

I have seen there's no way to connect Niki to Internet through USB connection. I have read as much as I could but didn't find any solution.
Any experience?
Thanks.
if you mean to use the shared
internet connecting from a pc.
then u only have to configure
the internet connection sharing
in windows.
in niki you have to enable the advanced
network settings.
then it should work.
actually
i did it in one minute just opening the shared internet conection. activesync turns off by itself and the pc recognize the internet conection
one minute and way to go.
i didnt even touch the pc config.
windows xp
let us know if u made it.
Thanks Valvarin and erkv.
I have tried both and no results. I have Windows Vista, probably the problem.
Activated Internet Sharing connection in pc and no results.
Thanks...and wait if you tried any other way.
Regards.
I've tested XP and works...How to configure VIsta?
Regards.
Solved....i've made a hard reset and "voilá" everythings OK
Anyway, thanks...
Regards.
I only get internet connection if I disable advance network settings. May I know where you can configure the internet connection settings in windows? Is it within activesync or is there something else ive missed out?
Heres a screen shot of my setup. The IP address is wrong.
I have tested shutting off my firewall and anti virus but still the same result.

Sharing Internet between 2 PPCs over Bluetooth

Hi, Folks,
I was trying to connect a HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) to Internet over a bluetooth connection with a HTC Diamond, but no success...
First i tryed to connect using a DUN (Dial-up Network), but I don't know why, this dosn't work.
Second, i tryed to connect using the Internet Connection Share (ICS) on Diamond, but i don't found a way to join in a Bluetooh PAN with my Kaiser.
I've made a lot of searchs in this forum and the Google, but nothing that i found solves my problem.
In one of links/articles/wikis it tell me to use a Bluetooth Manager, but i don't have it.
Anyone has any idea to solve this problem?
Thx a lot! (and sorry about my english)
Try WmWifirouter. It essentially creates a P2P network over wifi. Was there a specific reason to use bluetooth?Im sure both devices have Wifi.

WMWiFiRouter does the job.

or icscontrol and set the private interface to BTPAN on the serving ppc
Don't forget to setup the connection as ad-hoc.
You won't be able to share the net in managed mode.
It is possible to share internet over bluetooth.

@ alpha2k
nice link. do you know if you can connect a PDA/Mobile through your PC's Broadband Connection? See my mini diagram below?
Mobile --- (through bluetooth)---> PC --(through WIFI/Cat5e) ---> Router ----> INTERNET

Internet sharing under WM6.5 and Windows 7

Hey all, I think Rim may be the only one with experience using Windows 7...so I ask...how in the world do you get WM6.5 to connect via USB to 7 and make internet sharing work? I've enabled data connections thru WMDC, and all seems well on the WinMo side..so I dunno what the deal is. Windows just tells me that its continually looking for an IP address for my connection, whole my Wing tells me that it's connected. Any help?
Hi Ashasaur,
Did you ever get anywhere with this?
I've been using my Touch Diamond (WM6.1) with Vista and surfing the web without problems... however having now upgraded to Windows 7 I'm stumbling at the same hurdle as you...
Having plugged the device in and run Internet Sharing on it I can connect okay to my ISP. At the same time, Windows 7 detects the appearance of a 'Remote NDIS based Internet Sharing Device' and I get a LAN connection under Network Connections. However, I can see that it is requesting an IP address using DHCP but getting nowhere...
Anyone with any tips?
Mathew
It works fine for me. I just plugged it in, ran Internet Sharing, and it worked. I didn't have to change any settings or anything.
Thanks for the reply ksj, I did eventually get it working.
In case anyone else has similar troubles, my solution (which I've posted here), is a simple workaround involving statically assigning an IP address as for some reason automatic assignment with DHCP was failing.
