Using the same linux (gentoo) install, I have been able to access several android devices. Unfortunately this is not the case with the Streak.
Is there a different tool specific to the Streak? (The only download I could find from Dell is the windows PC Suite). Another of these forums stated that for windows, Dell's specific program allowed adb access.
Any hints?
US at&t running 1.6
I'm using adb from the latest sdk.
What does lsusb say is connected?
For fastboot commands I have to use -i 0x413c as an identifier..

I had an earlier version of adb. With the latest version (1.0.26) I can see the Streak.
Thanks for posting back.

Hi,
need some help with fastboot.
Entering "./fastboot devices" gives no results.
Streak waits with white screen and displays FASTBOOT_MODE.
I did not install the SDK, but took the adb tool from the current SDK.
Entering "./adb devices" list one device - works!
I noticed that it is important to use the adb from the current SDK currently adb version 1.0.26 (an old adb version 1.0.25 did not work).
Streak with Stock Froyo
Linux / Ubuntu 10.04
Streak is recognized as (lsub): Bus 001 Device 011: ID 413c:b007 Dell Computer Corp.
Any idea? Are there different fastboot-binaries out there? All the ones I have found are 127435 bytes.
Thanks a lot
Arnd
I have exactly the same problem on ubuntu 10.04 with standard 2.2 Froyo.
adb devices shows the Streak but fastboot devices shows nothing. I have played with this for a while without success. I would love to have this working any help would be appreciated. I am using android-sdk-r07-linux_x86.tgz and fastboot 130.4 kb.
The streak is detected on USB and I can turn on and access USB storage.
Solved
Just found out, "./fastboot devices" simply does not work - unfortunate.
But try "sudo ./fastboot -i 0x413c reboot" - this will show "rebooting..." and actually reboot the device. Must be with sudo.
That means fastboot works.
I suppose, no need to install the SDK, no need to put any rules files into /etc/udev/rules.d

Hey guys,
It's a pain having to download the whole Android SDK(300MB) if all you want is the adb and fastboot which are used frequently for modding/hacking.
So, am posting only the above files and the required DLLs here separately! Hope it helps!
And, looks like someone already packed the drivers separately over here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035853&highlight=fastboot
Try these drivers if above fails,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126671
And, yes, non of the files are mine! I just packaged them. I can't remember the exact places I downloaded them from. So, I will post the credits later.
Does anyone have Adb driver for gt540?

Hi,
I am having problems rooting my Transformer that I just purchased this morning.
My windows XP instance is running in VMWare as I have OSX.
I have the USB drivers installed and the APX driver. If I ADB the device in normal mode I can see the device ID, but when I connect in APX mode VMWare gives a warning about not being to connected to it's ideal controller. I am guessing this is because it's not installed to a USB 2.0 port.
When I run root.bat, my usb host controller interface blue screens and windows restarts.
Has anyone else had this problem? I not a noob as I have managed to root my desire and s-off it. I wondering if it's related to the VMWare USB message.
Thanks,
Jon
You can root the transformer in OSX, I rooted mine through terminal.

What method did you use? Did you try the nvflash method or using BLOB?
Jon
I've rooted and flashed Prime now but i'd be interested to hear how you did it on OSX. I created a linux VM in the end and used the method in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123429
Jon
They did it the old way in terminal.

Just use this guide
Didn't need to install any extra drivers like Windows users do get adb from the link provided at the beginning of the guide and the followed each of the steps including downloading the rooting tools. The commands are the same but are entered slightly differently in OSX.
Example
In OSX
Code:
./adb devices
instead of Windows
Code:
adb devices
If you've used OSX terminal before you should be fine.
Back when I did it it was primordial 3.1 but this guide has been updated for Prime v1.4 and the overclocking kernal and sloarnz customized CWM, the latter two i don't use myself.
Edit - I see I'm a bit too late replying, but yes just used terminal adb etc. Was very easy to do and satisfying.
Thanks for the replies, I'll have a read through, if anything just to improve my knowledge.
Thanks again.

Hi, I got my Nexus 7 HSDPA yesterday. I had the Nexus 7 16GB before and had no problems rooting it but now I am stuck.
My Google USB Drivers are up-to-date (Rev. 7), I updated them this morning via SDK-Manager. However, still no drivers are found.I also tried Universal Naked Drivers 0.7, those worked on adb (could push a file), but "fastboot devices" still doesn't find any devices.
I am on Windows 7 64bit (however, the SDK is in Program Files (x86), don't know if that is normal.) My Build Number is JOP40C
Any idea?
Adb and Fastboot are in different folders, one is in 'Tools' and the other is in 'Platform-Tools' try moving the exe files both into the same place as Adb.exe.
Not 100% but sure that's got something to do with it.

Same issue, any help would be great... the sdk says up to date.
I've attached the adb and fastboot binaries from the latest Android SDK for Linux. Also make sure you check the phone for the popup to confirm adding the PC's signature to the device's whitelist.
I assume you're using Ubuntu in which case android-tools is in the Ubuntu Repository for 12.10.
Code:
sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot
If you want a more update ADB and Fastboot use this ppa http://www.webupd8.org/2012/08/install-adb-and-fastboot-android-tools.html
I have the one from Ubuntu repository installed on 13.04 and it works fine with my 4.2.2 devices.
Also, like tuxdude said, make sure you have your PC whitelisted so it is able to connect via adb. New security feature in 4.2.2
Try disabling and re-enabling usb debugging while plugged in. It's the only way i got the rsa verification on osx, which before i had the offline device output message.
I had a same problem, and I found the solution.
If the adb the newest, and RSA windows doesn't appear on phone, check the .android directory (in your Home directory) ownership and permission. Mine was wrong, root was the owner.
